Hi!
Baby arrived in Germany - her helicopter landed safely on our TV. And some minutes after Baby another toyvoyager arrived as well - Kuma! Both met for the first time - and after a few minutes they met some other friends from Germany. Before Baby will rest for the first time im Germany we had a short photo session with our dogs Gina and Susi. I hope Baby will have some fun to go to Cologne at the weekend... Tine |
Tine1969 Posted Sep 9, 2007, 6:47 pm |
On her second day, Baby isn't very shy any longer. Therefore she would like to write alone ...
Ok, let me start. Today my host Tine took Kuma and me to a big city named Cologne. At first we parked our car at a small park near the Cologne University. Then we walked to the main building of the university, where my host had studied some years ago. She took photos of Albertus Magnus monument with us - the university is named after this person. Then we went to the Cologne Cathedral, which is more than huge. It was really difficult to take a photo of me and the whole cathedral. Later we went to the river Rhine. I was a bit afraid of the bridge because it became really windy. Therefore I decided to stop this photo session - and we went to starbucks to drink a coffee. Bye for today, |
Tine1969 Posted Sep 9, 2007, 7:08 pm |
Today something strange happened - I was put on the scales:
I am not as heavy as Kuma, because I pay attention to my weight ! |
Tine1969 Posted Sep 15, 2007, 5:22 pm |
Hi - it's Baby writing again. Today I had an interesting day together with my friend Kuma. We went on a long walk in and around Alt-Kaster, a quarter of the town where my host lives.
We went through the forest to a lake, visited the old quarter, climbed on the ruin of the old castle and had a nice rest on a ladybug made of wood. Bye, Baby |
Tine1969 Posted Sep 19, 2007, 12:26 pm |
Tomorrow Baby, her friend Kuma and I are going on holidays. We will come back, hopefully with many great pictures in the middle of October! After that Baby will leave me...!

Baby had a wonderful time in Kenya and after this trip she visited the German part of the Baltic Sea with me. Now we are back at home and Baby will rest some days. After that I can hopefully show you some photos and Baby will travel again.

Between the 20.09. and the 03.10.2007 Baby and her friend Kuma visited a school in the slums of Nairobi and she also had a nice trip to Nairobi Downtown. Here are the photos from her trip:
On and before the Conference Centre Baby with a Kenyan flower Hungry for ice-cream In a school named Kwa Watoto (which means "For children") Baby loved her trip and she liked to be in the school with all the children. After coming back from Africa, Baby travelled to the Baltic Sea for some days. I will show you her photos soon. |
Szandra Posted Dec 26, 2007, 1:11 pm |
Before leaving Hungary I wanted to tell you about the days that I spent here. Unfortunately we don't have many photos to show, but in my heart there are many nice experiences.
Szandra had to prepare for her exams, so most of the time we were in her flat in Budapest. When she made a little rest, we went for short walks into the city center where in Christmas time there are a lot of lights, it has a great feeling! Than we decorated together a little Christmas tree. Yees, it was a little early to do that, but after that we travelled to Miskolc to spend the holiday with Szandra's family. For my big happines once there was snowfall. I went quickly to the terrace to make a photo! In one of the pictures you can see me with the view from the terrace. It's not very nice in winter time, too grey...But in the distant you can see the Citadella which is a famous monument of Budapest. And finally a photo with my great friend, Teddy. He always got cold and finally he got from me a nice hat! |
starbursidereus Posted Feb 6, 2008, 3:14 am |
I have finally arrived here in Canada! The trip was long but worth it!
I arrived on a very snowy & stormy day, but my host mom was still able to take me outside for a few photos! Here I am with the other Toy Voyagers currently staying with my host mom! And here I am with a very nice Canadian winter scene! I will write again soon! Bye for now! |
starbursidereus Posted Feb 12, 2008, 3:01 am |
Wow I can't believe it has been so long since my last post!
We haven't been too busy though... my host mom has been busy with work and shovelling (remember all that snow? we got MORE!) Anyways over the weekend my host mom let me play Wii! I couldn't really play... but it was fun to watch! Here I am trying to play but I can't hold the controller. This weekend my host mom said we're going a road trip! We will be driving almost five hours west to get to Saginaw, Michigan to watch a couple hockey games! This is exciting! I can't wait to go! |
starbursidereus Posted Feb 21, 2008, 6:54 pm |
Well my host mom had yet another delivery today!
Reinhilde & Womat arrived safe and sound. Boy, this house is so full now!! Here I am with Womat, Fenway, Reinhilde, Oskar, and Hueso! |

We have been very busy here at my host mom's house!
Here is a collection of photos displaying what I've been up to in the last month! Playing with the gerbil, on a road trip, and our hotel in Frankenmuth, Michigan! I went to the McDonald's Playplace, me with a postcard, and scrapbooking! I went to a hockey game, to an airport, and met Little Johnny from Halo! |
starbursidereus Posted Mar 29, 2008, 2:35 pm |
Hello!! My host mom is apologizing for not sending me away on my next journey yet, but she is hoping to take me to my airport this afternoon! She wants to update my personal diary before I go too!!
Anyways here is what I have been up to! My host mom has seen a LOT of snow this year in her city - it has been record breaking! So, she had to get a photo of me with the snow just to prove it! |
starbursidereus Posted Mar 29, 2008, 2:38 pm |
Hello!!! I have completed one of my goals and I'm so excited! Look mom!! One of my host mom's family members was able to come play with me! I had so much fun!!

So I have left Kitchener on March 31. I am going to Germany next! I am very excited!! |
fam-united Posted May 31, 2008, 10:41 am |
Phewww!!! Mum, you don't believe it, but I'm here finally. I'm sorry, I can't tell you, where I had been for such a long time, I only can tell you, that it was so so dark inside of my envie and I'm so terribly dizzy now, that I really have to take a rest.
Petra told me, that she will try to take some photos this coming weekend, so you will see me here in Bruchsal. Greetings from hot and humid Germany Baby |
fam-united Posted Jun 9, 2008, 5:53 pm |
Today Petra and I took a look at the cherries in neighbour's garden. We saw, that they still need some more time to get their red colour.
|
fam-united Posted Jun 17, 2008, 3:44 pm |
Hello again!
It is just unbelievable to see all this rain, when you look out of the window. I'm not sure, whether I chose the right time to visit fam-united. |
fam-united Posted Jun 17, 2008, 3:54 pm |
Hey, Petra! What's this??? What do you say??? It is a rain drop? A drop??? Do you know, how small I am??? It is much too big for me. Please take me away and possibly the others too. You surely saw, that Holiday Harry was so shocked, that he fainted.
Ok, it is better to sit here at the window and look out to watch the rain, see the lightnings and to hear the loud thunders. I'm a little scared though, that's why you don't really see me. |
fam-united Posted Jun 17, 2008, 4:04 pm |
Another rainy day in Germany
Once more we are on the balcony with view to the cherry tree. It was raining cats and dogs, but you had problems to find the cloud. It was really strange, I can tell you. At once we ran to search for the rainbow, but we couldn't find one. |
fam-united Posted Jun 17, 2008, 4:06 pm |
In the evening the sky was so beautiful, that Petra asked me, whether she was allowed to take a photo with me. Ok, it isn't the best one, but you can see me and the moon.

fam-united Posted Jun 22, 2008, 10:08 pm |
Hi Mum
today I'm able to show you some parts of Bruchsal. Petra decided to go on a short walk and car drive before the match between Germany and Portugal started. Hey, she had been really nervous about that match. We started at her house and had to walk only a few hundred meters, when I saw this beautiful baroque church, which is called St. Peterskirche. This church is next to the graveyard of Bruchsal. Petra saw this statue and took a photo with me. She didn't really know, why this statue stands there, so she took a photo of the sign too. It is a memorial stone as reminder of the citizens of Bruchsal, who were victims of the Baden Revolution (1827 - 1849). We found some really old crosses on the graveyard. One of it is called Pestkreuz (pestilence). We walked through the graveyard, but didn't take photos there, because too many people were there and we didn't want to be disrespectfully. There are some places, where you have a wonderful view to the baroque church and over Bruchsal and there are really beautiful trees. Here we are on the other site of the graveyard area. It is close to the city border. I asked Petra to take a photo with me and the sign. Behind the Bruchsal sign you see the traffic sign 30 - it is s zone, where you are only allowed to drive 30km/h. Here is another view to Bruchsal. On the left side you see a part of Sancta Maria, which you will see on another photos again. Here is a view to the graveyard from outside. I asked Petra to take these two photos so we can show you how steep this is to walk, especially for older people. So now we went to the Sancta Maria. Let's see, what they write on the sign. Maybe a bit closer? Ok and now the photo of the house: Now we went down the road and took Petra's bag and car and drove to other places in Bruchsal. This is the Belvedere, a former hunting lodge. Then we went out of the nice park, because it was too crowded and Petra seems to be in fear to meet some people from school. She really thinks, they could love at her. Petra, we have to work on that. Here is another place with nice views over Bruchsal. Turning to the right side, the towers are from left: the Bergfried (tower of the old castle), the city church "Unsere liebe Frau" and the church called Lutherkirche. Turning to the left side you see the old people's home. The house with the orange strip and the terrace house belongs to it. The grey house in the far with the small tower is the private catholic grammar school St. Paulusheim, which is only open for Christians (no matter weather catholic or evangelic). It was founded by patres of the Pallotti order. The flat roof in front of me still belongs to the old people's house. Bruchsal must have many old people. In the far you see the baroque church St. Peter and the house Sancta Maria. Here Petra showed me the school yard of St. Paulusheim. It is used as a parking place and also as a place for pupils to walk around or play football. They also have a nice small park on the other site. Around Bruchsal you can see many crosses like this one. But we didn't walk to much there, because Petra wanted to show me the palace. Here you see the Amtsgericht - county court. In front of the Amtsgericht you see this fountain, which has a funny name "Schnecklesbrunnen" -snail fountain, but you see, why it is called this way. Just turning around on our heels (on the place where we took the photo of the Amtsgericht) we saw the entrance of the main building of the palace. Turning to the right there is another part of court and a chamber music hall Turning to the left you see the building of the church St. Damian and Hugo, a catholic church, which is usually called Hofkirche, because it belongs to the palace yard. The tower is behind the church, built next to the parish hall. The left side is the back side of the church. You see the tower much better here. Walking in the palace garden wasn't that great, because there were some people drinking and Petra wondered, whether nobody can do something against this. There should be a place for teenagers and young people, where they can have fun without drinking alcohol. She only took some detail photos of the back side. the sundial and a photo of the park On our way home I saw this building and asked Petra to tell me, what it is. She said, that it is called Cafe Achteck, cafe octagon. I thought, that it sounds interesting and asked her to go and drink a coffee there, but she said 'No'. First I was a bit grumpy with her, but then she explained, that it is the jailhouse of Bruchsal and that there are some people in it, who did really bad things. I asked her to drive home as quickly as possible. So we drove to the right and I saw this nice gate, called Damianstor, which is the entrance to the palace area. Before we really drove home, Petra wanted to show me another view to Bruchsal. She was in such an hurry, that she only took a photo with a part of me. I thought, that we would drive home now, but no, Petra thought, that she would like to show us this nice chapel, which is built in the fields outside of Bruchsal. Nevertheless it belongs to the City Church. The chapel is called 'Feldkirchle' - field chapel - a really great idea to name it this way. Next to the chapel is another cross. There are really beautiful trees around. I thought, that now it is time to go back to the car and I asked Petra, if she would like to take a photo with me and the car. You see the Swedish and German flag there. Petra is collecting flags it seems. In the car is an Australian paper flag, but it is getting old now So this is really the last photo of our Bruchsal tour. It is just here to show you, that we really had been in the fields. |

Hi Mom,
I'm here in Germany's oldest city. Trier was founded by Romans and is older than 2000 years. The brown building in the middle of the photo is the Basilica and not close to this building you can see a dark building, which is the cathedral. Many places in Trier belong to Unesco World Cultural Heritage: the amphitheatre, which you can see as a green place in the middle of the trees. Behind the trees you see the thermal bath called Kaiserthermen. Turning to the left you have this wonderful view. In the far you see a small piece of the Moselle Here are the "Kaiserthermen". The most famous building of Trier is the Porta Nigra. We drove over a really old bridge, which was built by Romans. |
fam-united Posted Jul 6, 2008, 7:10 pm |
Early in the evening we drove to Wasserbillig in Luxemburg just to buy some diesel for the car. Isn't that crazy?
Petra and Ralf told me, that the gas is much cheaper there than in Germany. So they drive to Luxemburg each time, if they visit Trier. There is a street with one gas station after the other. |
fam-united Posted Jul 6, 2008, 7:47 pm |
This is a crazy town. Do you know, that Igel is hedgehog in English? I think, it is just funny.
Petra showed me this column, which is also Unesco World Cultural Heritage. |
fam-united Posted Jul 26, 2008, 6:20 am |
Today everyone was rather nervous. It was a football (they call it football, but we say soccer) match between Turkey and Germany.
We weren't allowed to talk, because everyone wanted to listen to the reporter. So you see some impressions now. |
fam-united Posted Jul 26, 2008, 6:29 am |
Germany played in the final of the WorldCup. Of course we watched this match too.
Petra made us some veggies, so we had something to nibble. She said, that this is much better than eating sweets. The German team is really sad But here comes a very happy Portugues team. They played a fantastic match. A really sad face: Lehmann The German "THANK YOU" to the organizers of the WorldCup 2008 |
fam-united Posted Jul 26, 2008, 10:01 am |
It was a beautiful day and so we pushed Petra to go out with us.
She thought, that she wanted to show us a nice view over the Rhine valley. That's why we drove to this small hill called Michaelsberg, which belongs to Untergrombach, one of Bruchsal's suburbs. In the far you see the Palatine Mountains. The town you see is Untergrombach. Petra loved to swim in the quarry pond, when she was a teenager. In the far you see a white tower with smoke coming out. This is the nuclear power station of Philippsburg. Petra told us, that her parents live close to the wood between Bruchsal and Untergrombach. She used to walk in this wood, when she was younger. The town you see here is Bruchsal. It is a nature reserve area, so you see some signs, which show you interesting places or which tell you to take care of the nature. There is a beautiful small chapel on the Michaelsberg, called Michaelskapelle. We were sad, that the chapel was closed. We only had been able to take a photo from this side, because it was too sunny. We are still on the Michaelsberg, but this time we look behind us and see parts of the Kraichgau. It is famous for its wine yards. Driving down the hill, you see houses of Untergrombach. On our way to Bruchsal we saw this road works and Petra told us, that they build a new railway bridge. |
fam-united Posted Jul 26, 2008, 10:04 am |
I asked Petra to take a photo of this street, which leads to "our" house. Ok, "our" house is just around the corner, but I like this street. Do you see the silvery car in front of this nice house in the far? Petra's home is just on the opposite site.
In her garden she has some lovely flowers. These are called phlox. And this is one of many butterfly bushes |
fam-united Posted Jul 26, 2008, 11:17 am |
Petra asked us to help her baking a biscuit. She makes a really easy one:
for each whole egg she takes 50g sugar and 50g flour. This time she made a big cake, so she needed 10 eggs and swirled them really long - and we helped her with this, of course. Then we added 500g sugar (yes, that's really a lot of sugar) and one small packet vanilla sugar and again swirled it until everything was foaming. At last we added 500g flour and 1 small packet baking powder, but we didn't swirl this but only folded it in carefully. Then we put it in the baking dish and gave it in the preheated oven (170°C/338°F to 180°C/356°F) for about half an hour. We had to let it cool down then and Petra told us, that she wanted to the decoration the next day. But then she needed our help for some handycrafts. She worked on some pages for an album for the headmaster of her school, who left the school. She said, that people, who are older than 63 to 65 years, go on pension. The headmaster will be 64 years old this year and so it was time for him to leave work behind. This pages we created for those teachers, who take care for their young children at home and who are on parental leave. They thought, that Petra has enough time to do this page for them - crazy girls. |
fam-united Posted Jul 26, 2008, 11:39 am |
Today we helped to make the filling and decoration of the cake.
For the filling we needed cream, nougat and hazelnut. I have to look, whether I will find the recipe. Petra's headmaster loves to play the saxophone, so she thought it would be a good idea to draw it on the cake. When we were ready, we had to do some more handicrafts. This time we had to cut out some water lilies for the windows of the school doors. |
fam-united Posted Jul 26, 2008, 11:51 am |
Right now it seems to have many rainbows here in Bruchsal. And it also seems to be one of Petra's hobbies to take photos of rainbows with toyvoyagers. So here is another rainbow.
Emmh, sorry, I just jumped out of the photo. |
fam-united Posted Jul 26, 2008, 2:59 pm |
So this is the last day before Petra's headmaster receives the special album included all classes of the school as well as all other people, who work there.
Here is the front of the album. Sorry, but we can't show the pages, because there are many photos with children. |
fam-united Posted Jul 26, 2008, 3:58 pm |
Today was the last school day of the school year. All kids and Petra are free of school for six and a half weeks now. So for a start they decided to play garden golf. Petra packed us in her backpack and climbed on her bike. Martin, Sabrina and Ralf wanted to be part of it too. Some of our tv friends stayed at home, but Petra told them, that she will take them with her another day.
|
fam-united Posted Jul 26, 2008, 4:08 pm |
Here we sit in the car waiting for the children, who forgot something in the house. So it was a chance for Petra to take another photo with us.
|
fam-united Posted Aug 16, 2008, 2:14 pm |
Petra and her children like to sleep outside of the house on some nights in summer. Tonight it is warm and so we decided to try it - but had to go inside after some hours, because clouds came up.
Petra calls them the falling star nights. |
fam-united Posted Aug 16, 2008, 5:33 pm |
Today afternoon we all are watching the Olympic opening ceremony.
|
fam-united Posted Aug 16, 2008, 5:58 pm |
We're celebrating birthday today and everyone was allowed to sit in the dining room and eat cakes and drink coffee or milk.
Emmh, Petra told me, that these cakes aren't selfmade. Later we sat on the oven and listened to everyone talking. In the evening we enjoyed to sing some karaoke with Petra and her family. |
fam-united Posted Aug 16, 2008, 6:00 pm |
The next day a new guest arrived: Bestik. He travels the European Trail and will stay here for about 4 weeks. We first thought, that he comes from Germany, because his hair looks like the German flag, but he comes from the Czech Republic.
|
fam-united Posted Aug 16, 2008, 6:36 pm |
Today is Petra's and Ralf's 20th wedding anniversary. The decided to go on a trip with us. This trip is also my fairwell trip, because then I will travel to my next host.
Here we are: At first I felt very scared, when I read this about the "Button in ear". I shouted out loud: Oh no! I don't want a button in my ear. Please call my mum, please!!! But then Petra told us, that nothing would happen to us. We just would walk through this museum. "Okay, I said. A museum. How exciting" But later I realized, that it is a really great museum, just like toyvoyagers' paradise. We visited the Steiff-Museum. At first we listened to the story about Margarete Steiff's life. Then we had to help a girl and a toy to search for 3000 bears, which got lost on the way to the USA. First we searched in the ocean: Then we saw ice bears and penguins. At last we found the bears in a big room: When we came out of this room, we walked through an exhibition of different Steiff toys. I was allowed to sit next to a Steiff bunny. Then we walked through another sort of exhibition, where the toys are behind glasses. Petra wasn't that happy about it, because the photos were worse than before and also then the photos weren't really great because of the dark light in the rooms. At last Petra wrote something into the guest book and also mentioned, that we had been part of the family |
fam-united Posted Aug 17, 2008, 7:58 pm |
Hi, Nicki Bear! Your hat is really nice. Do you think, that it also would fit to someone of us here? Please, please let us try.
I think, Burrimul Memu looks rather nice, although Petra isn't that great in taking great photos. Froggie is really funny with the hat. Don't you think, that Galaxy Bear is a bit too tall? Oh yes, Kari. Two hats, what a great idea! Gina Giraffe looks like a clown. Maybe circus Barum will call soon, who knows. No, Bokkie. This hat isn't made for you. What do we think about Bruni Lila? I don't know. I'm the only one, who also could be owner of the hat. It is a good hiding place, isn't it? Oh, Nicki Bear recaptured her hat again |
fam-united Posted Aug 17, 2008, 8:22 pm |
Later in the afternoon we drove to Göppingen. Everyone was rather tired already, but nevertheless we wanted to see this other museum: the Maerklin museum.
Don't be too surprised, but you can't see me in the next photo.... .... because I'm here: |
fam-united Posted Aug 22, 2008, 6:41 am |
So finally it is my last day in Bruchsal. I'm at the post office now. Hopefully my travel won't take such a long time.
See you later Baby |
fam-united Posted Aug 24, 2008, 3:26 pm |
Next to the Stuttgart airport you see this parking block built like a bridge over the autobahn
|
