Ciao mamma,
the postman told me, up the stairs to the uppermost entrance. In the third floor - the door on the right - not to miss. Okay, now I sit here. No one's home and the welcome? hmm. I have to admit I was a bit intimidated. Suddenly two large boots standing next to me. A hand picked me up and a friendly voice said: you must be Sansone, welcome to Switzerland. I got a big sausage to welcome - which I enjoyed. More in the next few days Arrivederci mamma Sansone |

Today I made a trip with Jasper to the river Thur. A farmer fertilize the fields with liquid manure. It smelled ... hmm .... by country life. We passed a beehive. I held back genteel. Bees in the spring swash - you never know. The small river sometimes looks really wild. I rested in the wild garlic. After that I smelled a bit intense. I saw a big bridge and romantic places. strange plants and trees that cling to rocks with huge roots. These rocks make me feel uncomfortable. I climbed a tree to look at a fungus. I sat down on the moss and felt good. So good that I had to roll myself. I smelled the first flowers and sniffed strange, small piles and footprints in the sand. I climbed on tree trunks that were embraced by brambles, discovered a Burrow or just enjoying the view. I had a great day. I love you Sansone |

Hi mommy
today was something very special. A solar eclipse - well, a partial eclipse. We all wanted to watch Unfortunately, Jasper could not get goggles. All sold out. So we looked at the spectacle on the computer. Not really the same but still very impressive. We saw the smile of the sun. Sun came back. Have a nice weekend Sansone |

Hi mommy
Today we have processed the wild garlic, we've picked during our walk on the Thur. First, we washed the wild garlic thoroughly. While it dried, we roasted almonds. For a better taste. In order to make wild garlic pesto we need olive oil (sorry, this time from Greece) and Parmesan cheese. Then everything chop in food processor to a beautiful mass. Some salt for taste and color - and ready. Pour into glasses and cover with oil. I tried - it tastes delicious. Bye, Sansone |

overnight winter has come back. Snow and cold wind made us stay at home. We decided to play cards. For an international group like us poker was the most obvious. Of course, we did not play for money. Sweets are worth more than money for a Toyvoyager. My poker face, good cards and a bit of luck - sweets I have enough for the time being. Until next time Sansone |

Hello mommy
we needed sun. Therefore, we escaped the bad weather and traveled to the sunny part of Switzerland - Ticino. More specifically to.... Locarno is the capital of the Locarno district, located on the northern tip of Lake Maggiore. First, we took the old funicular to Orselina. There we visited Madonna del Sasso. The sanctuary of Madonna del Sasso in Orselina above the city is the principal sight and goal of pilgrimage in the city. The founding of the sanctuary goes back to a vision of the Virgin Mary that the Franciscan brother Bartolomeo d'Ivrea experienced in the night of 14/15 August 1480. The interior is highly decorated, and a platform gives a magnificent view of the city. With life-size figures here is the "Last Supper" imitated. Back in town, we stroll through the narrow streets of the old town - Città Vecchia. Chiesa S. Antonio Abate, one of many churches. Then we came to the Piazza Grande. The Locarno International Film Festival takes place every year in August in the city and, at night, on the Piazza Grande. Through a small park with palm trees and flowering plants we reached the shore of Lake Maggiore. What a view. We enjoyed enjoyed enjoyed. Then it was time to say goodbye. Ciao Locarno - maybe we'll come back. Ciao Mamma Sansone |

Today reached us a new Toyvoyager. We need a lot of patience until we were able to welcome the turtle. Her pace was breathtaking. Some of us fell asleep. With some help from the front and top she has finally made it. The joy was great. We welcomed: Cassiopeia from Germany Sansone |

Hi mom
This morning we went for a walk. We started uphill. A bridge over the railroad - and continue uphill. Under a small tree, we stopped for a break. A few years ago here stood a big, old apple tree. When lightning struck it and split, it had to be cut down. We walked on and came to a wayside cross. The view was good - here you see where I live in the moment. We were looking forward to the flowers that bloom right now. We went up and down and up again. The pathes were getting narrower. Next break on a root. Then we had to climb stairs. That took some time, the turtle is not the fastest. We marveled trees with large roots and sat on a high seat for hunters. This is the path to the waterfall - we will visit it another time. It was too wet to climb among the rocks. We found a place where we could see the falls from above. Looks so small. We came to another bridge over the railway and the ring road. This is the old weaving. Today, several companies and the Railway Museum are located there. We walked on and came to the station. Not much going on today. Passing chestnut trees, we reached the railway bridge over the river Thur. From there we had a beautiful view of Lichtensteig. The main street. The Old Town Hall The "Gallsche Offizin", earlier schoolhouse, then hand press printing with old letters. Through winding streets we came to the bank building. Prior to that, there is a statue called "Lost Shadows" In 1992, the Bank purchased the artwork "Lost Shadows" and make up in front of their office building. A naked man moves out from under a blanket and looking shocked in the sky. The sculpture was an instant moral scandal in the town. A removal petition to the council initially had no success. The "people's anger" raged with color stops above all to the sex part of the frightened man. In 2000 a second petition achieved a partial success. The figure has been restored and turned so that her nudity is not visible from the main alley. Okay, let's move on. This is the town hall and this is the Toggenburg Museum. The town from another side. The next break on a bench behind the Protestant Church. As far as you can see, everywhere I went. And it goes on. Next stop: the factory that produces happiness. (in form of chocolate wafers) Last stop was the St.Loreto chapel. A Loreto chapel is a replica of the revered Italian pilgrimage Loreto Basilica della Santa Casa, which the Santa Casa (Holy House) of the Holy Family in Nazareth houses: According to legend, in the 13th century angels should have converted the building from Nazareth to Loreto. Three hours later we arrived where we started: at home. Tired but happy Sansone |

Hello Mom
Yesterday we took a walk along our river Thur and looked at the waterfall. The waterfall itself is not very big and not very spectacular. But the way ... Looks like jungle. We followed narrow, very narrow paths (the path is good, but there is a risk of falling beside it). We squeezed through narrow gorges and crawled through under huge boulders. Then follows a long jump (via the effluent water) and there it was, the little waterfall. We were amazed that such a small waterfall can wash out such a large pool. Jasper told us, waterfall and Thur are unpredictable. Normally, everything looks very romantic. But two days heavy rain, and every path and every place you see here is several meters under water. We followed the river, running through fields of wild garlic, played with stones and sat on roots or in the warm sand. Several times we were happy to sit in Jaspers pocket. She had to overcome dangerous places and we were chattering in the bag with our teeth. But Toyvoyager are adventurers and we spent a exciting afternoon. Bye for now Sansone |

Hello mommy
early in the morning we took the train to Zurich airport. Croissant and cappuccino - to soothe the stomach and nerves. We were terribly excited. And then wait for boarding. Sorry if I'm so blurry - I could not stand still. Then finally it happened - get in, sit down and take off. The flight did not take very long. Another time we took the train. Our goal was King's Cross in London. We quickly brought our luggage to the hotel (a 5 minute walk) and then it started. First, we marveled at the station. Old walls and modern design are united here. And then we visited the passage to platform 9 3/4. Harry Potter sends his regards. to be continued Sansone |

Hello from London
we took the subway - called London Tube - and drove into the city. First stop: Piccadilly Circus. Ironically, here it rained briefly, but that didn't bother us. We marveled at the giant billboards, the traffic and the crowds. Piccadilly Circus is a road junction and public space in London's West End. In 1811 the Prince Regent, later King George IV wished a boulevard that should begin in St. James's and lead to the Regent's Park. He commissioned the best known architects of the time, John Nash, to fulfill this wish. After eight years of construction, the masterpiece in 1819 was completed. London's citizens was a commemorative street to Earl not enough. They decided to collect donations to erect a monument. 1893 Finally, the Shaftesbury Memorial Fountain was inaugurated, which is known as Eros Fountain today. However, the winged figure on the tip should not represent Eros, but the Angel of Christian Charity. The prudish citizens did not like the almost naked figure and jeered and mocked the builder. Today Piccadilly Circus connects Shaftesbury Avenue, the Haymarket, Coventry Street. (Towards Leicester Square), Regent Street and Lower Regent Street, Piccadilly and a small side street, the Glasshouse Street. After thoroughly looking around we ran on. Around the next corner we looked at the fountain "The Horses of Helios" In Greek mythology, Helios was the sun god. The task of Helios was to steer the sun chariot across the sky, which was drawn by four stallions. Impressive. We took Regent Street to Waterloo Place and passed the monument of King Edward VII. At Waterloo Square, stands the Duke of York Monument. The Duke of York Column was built between 1831-1834. It rises to a height of about forty meters. Prince Frederick Augustus, better known as the Duke of York, was the second son of King George III. As commander of the British army, he soon realized that the army was outdated and the Duke introduced significant reforms to modernize and improve the army. Shortly after his death in 1827, donated all British troops a day's pay for the construction of a monument in honor of the Duke of York. Continuing on our way we saw The Mall with Admiralty Arch. This road will visit later. Our goal was to Horse Guards Parade. Horse Guards Parade is a large parade ground near Whitehall. It is the site of the annual ceremonies of Trooping the Colour, Which commemorates the monarch's official birthday. The course is open to the west, there adjoins the St. James's Park. The other three sides are bordered by buildings. The Old Admiralty Building and the citadel of the Admiralty is located on the north side, on the east side Horseguards, the former headquarters of the British army, now headquarters of the Household Division. To the south borders the treasury office (HM Treasury) and the rear part of 10 Downing Street, the official residence of the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom. Part of the wall of HM Treasury. We crossed the square and came to the courtyard of the Horse Guards. Coincidentally, just held an inspection. poor guys. There were some red heads. But - the Queen's personal Life Guard must be in good shape We used a narrow street close to reach St.James Park. A royal squirrel. Shaun the Sheep. Spread all over the city are differently designed sheep figures. They collect for seriously ill children. That's it for today. Hugs and kisses from Londom Sansone |

Hello mom
after a good night's sleep and breakfast, we started the next day. Today an extensive city tour is on the program. Hop off at Buckingham Palace. The first thing we saw was the Queen Victoria Memorial. The Victoria Memorial is a 26 m high, built in honor of Queen Victoria of Great Britain figures group. At the top stands the gilded goddess of victory. 1911 revealed and built of 2,300 tonnes of marble. The palace gate with the royal arms. And that's Buckingham Palace - the official residence of the British monarch in London. 775 rooms, more than 1,000 windows, 450 employees and approximately 50,000 persons participating annually in events on the palace grounds. Impressive numbers. (It's said that the Queen didn't like the palace - she calls him her London office) The Mall (0.93 km) is the avenue of the capital and the first stage of the sovereign on his journey either to the Houses of Parliament or to the Horse Guards parade ground. It extends from Buckingham Palace in the west to Admiralty Arch and Trafalgar Square at its eastern end. We walked along the Mall and discovered the monuments of "Queen Mum" and her husband, King Geoerge VI. We reached Trafalgar Square, the largest public square London's. In the middle of the square stands a monument to Admiral Nelson, built by the citizens of London - in gratitude for the victory of the English over the French and Spanish in the Battle of Trafalgar. The Nelson's Column with the Admiral at the top is as high as Nelson's flagship HMS Victory from the keel to the mast top (51 meters) and was built in 1842. At the foot of the column there are four lions bronze sculptures. Also on Trafalgar Square is the National Gallery. The Displayed governmental paintings collection includes around 2300 paintings from the 13th to the 19th century. That's St. Martin in the Fields. Hop on to St Paul's Cathedral. And then directly to the London Eye. The London Eye, also known as the Millennium Wheel, is at a height of 135 meters currently the tallest Ferris wheel in Europe. The London Eye has 32 air-conditioned almost entirely of glass shaped gondolas. It takes nearly 40 minutes for a rotation. A little pleading and begging and Jasper bought Tikets. What a great view over the city. This road is called Strand. The name originates from the old English language and means similar to the German shore or riverbank. Unbelievable but before the construction of the Thames Embankment the road ran right next to the River Thames. We take a break. See you later Sansone |
Jasper Posted May 25, 2015, 3:35 pm |
Hello everybody
after a few Crisscross rides (this will continue so) we ended up at the Houses of Parliament and Big Ben. The Palace of Westminster (often called Houses of Parliament) is a monumental, built in the Gothic Revival style building. The palace is located in the City of Westminster on Parliament Square, close to the government buildings at Whitehall. It was declared a World Heritage Site along with the Westminster Abbey and St. Margaret's Church by UNESCO. The most famous part of the palace is the clock tower with the bell Big Ben. (since 2012 officially named Elizabeth Tower) That's Parliament Square, and this the famous Westminster Abbey. (shooting in the church was not allowed - unfortunately) That's St.Margaret's Church. We said hello to Mr. Churchill and moved on to Hyde Park. We entered the park by Queen Elizabeth Gate, also known as the Queen Mother's Gate. It was opened by Queen Elizabeth II in 1993 to celebrate the 90th birthday of her mother, Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother. The centerpiece of the door shows a red lion and a white unicorn. Hyde Park is 1.4 square kilometers, along with Kensington Gardens 2.5 and thus larger than the Principality of Monaco. We strolled along the Serpentine Lake and came to the Princess Diana Memorial Fountain. Next stop was the Albert Memorial. The Albert Memorial consists of a nearly 60 meters high, carried by four pillars, canopy. Under this sits the four-meter-high statue of Albert. It is reminiscent of the husband of Queen Victoria. Directly opposite is the Royal Albert Hall of Arts and Sciences - the usable part of the memorial. In the Albert Hall several types of major events take place: from symphony concerts (for example, the Proms) about pop concerts to boxing matches. Last place on today's tour was Kensington Palace. Although this palace looks a bit like a factory, he has experienced a lot. Queen Victoria was born here. Princessin Diana lived here until her death - just as Princess Margaret, the sister of the Queen. And now it is the London home of William and Kate. We went to our London home and then to bed. It was a long, eventful day. Sansone |
Jasper Posted Jun 1, 2015, 4:16 pm |
Hello,
Thursday was our last day in London. Only a short day and still soo much to see. We had to limit ourselves to the essentials. Past modern buildings and ancient pubs we drove towards Tower. We crossed the famous Tower Bridge. The bascule bridge - built in neo-Gothic style - was opened in 1894. 1977, to celebrate the silver jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II, the metal parts of the Tower Bridge were painted in the British national colors red, white and blue. This color scheme remained until today. After a walk over the bridge we headed to the Tower of London. Her Majesty's Royal Palace and Fortress the Tower of London (the official name) is a fortified complex of buildings along the Thames at the southeast end of the City of London. The ring castle with two fortification rings served the English and British kings, among others, as a residence, armory, workshop, warehouse, Zoo, garrison museum, mint, prison, archive and execution site. Originally, the tower was built in the 11th century as a fortress of William the Conqueror against potentially hostile citizens of the city of London. UNESCO declared the Tower in 1988 a World Heritage Site. We walked around the Tower, through the Tower. Upstairs and downstairs. This is "The Shard" completed, it will be Europe's tallest building. Behind these walls are the crown jewels. The crown jewels of the kings and queens blinded us. Gold and jewels - so big and so much, you can not imagine. Photographing was unfortunately "strictly forbidden". Jasper tried to explain everything to us, but we could barely keep anything. Too many impressions. Ooh - a story stayed with me: In Tower live six ravens. The legend says, if the ravens leave the Tower, the kingdom will perish. Thus the Ravens can not fly away, the wings are clipped, and a "spare Raven" is held. Haha, so cunning. This is one of the six. At the end of our London trip we took a boat trip on the Thames. Last impressions of a beautiful journey. That's it from London - next time again from Switzerland. Sansone |

Hi mom
I really do not want to whine, but right now it only seems to to rain in Switzerland. We looked for employment. Pickled garlic seemed the right thing. The peeling of garlic cloves was not as funny as I thought. But we did it. While I cooked sugar, spice, white wine, vinegar and salt, Crabs cut the Chili and Nili picked the herbs. Then we threw everything into the pot and boiled it for a few minutes. Later we filled everything, quite hot in glasses. Jasper was very proud of us. Sansone |

Hello There,
we will take a trip, no matter what the weather report says. We make our way to Flims in canton Grisons. There lies on 997m above sea level, tucked away in the woods, one of the most beautiful mountain lakes of Switzerland - the Caumasee. The first view of the turquoise lake let us cheerfully start. Through wild meadows and unspoilt woods brought us our path to the viewing platform Conn. First impressions of the gorge. This is the platform. "Il Spir" (swifts) is called this platform for their birdlike appearance. It extends diagonally across the 400m deeper Anterior Rhine Gorge. Then it was time for a break. Apple pie and coffee gave us the strength for the way forward. Wild strawberries, mushrooms and escargots were our companions for a certain time. Then we reached again the Caumasee. The short rain shower caused a particular mood. This color - something truly special. We enjoyed the rest of the way. After five hours we arrived back to our starting point. A last look at this beautiful lake. Maybe I'll be back someday. Hugs and kisses Sansone |

Hi mom
we deserved an Oscar. An Oscar for whining. First it was too cold, then it was too wet and now it's too hot. But it's really too hot. For days, temperatures above 35 °. We can barely drag ourselves out to the balcony. Between all the vegetables - which like the weather - there are a few cool spots. Eating a cake and do nothing - that's the best. Bye for now Sansone |

Hi mommy
Today we took a hike to the Schwendi lakes. The Schwendi Lakes lie between Gamser- and Chäserrugg (two of the seven Churfirsten mountains) in a hollow in a sheltered flat moorland of national importance. When the Schwendi glacier about 14,000 years ago melted, he left the hollow in which the lakes were dammed. In the following millennia caused by siltation of the lake shore gradually the moors. A funicular took us to 1340 meters above sea level. Here we started our hike. We had a nice view of the opposite side of the valley. There we saw the Schafberg and the Säntis. After about an hour we reached the first lake. On an information board was everything worth knowing about the formation of mountains and moorland. On a boardwalk we went deeper into the bog. The lakeshore can only be reached through a single web. This of course was crowded. So we contented ourselves with this sight. We walked on and marveled at the many, various bog plants. Up here the plants bloom between May and September. Therefore, the meadows are now very colorful. We have also discovered such romantic places. I liked this flower. This is the second Schwendisee. Because you reached its water surface only by a marshy reeds, it is much quieter here. On a bench, we rested and gathered strength for the descent. After all, it was necessary to overcome 300 meters in altitude. Last panorama before descending, Jasper knees tremble already. Here we go. Safe and happy back home greets you Sansone |
Jasper Posted Jul 27, 2015, 7:38 pm |
Hi mom
Today was hiking again. We climbed two of the highest mountains of the 7 Churfirsten. Chäserrugg (2262m) and Hinterrugg (2306m). Because it was so hot in the morning (26 °), we took the cog train for a large part of the way. Once at the first summit, we were able to recover us at 14 ° and fresh wind. Then we took the "Flower Trail," to explore the summit. The first part of the trail led along the northern summit ridge. We saw lush Alpine pastures, many well-known and even more flowers and herbs whose names we did not know. We admired rock formations, and far below us appeared out of the haze the Walensee. The Seez Valley On these meadows you can see ibexes on cooler days. Then we headed for the second summit. No pictures of the ascent: Jasper had enough to do to climb up the narrow rocky staircase. 60 m shaky knees and we could again out of the backpack and enjoyed a beautiful view of the Thur valley and the new mountain station on the Chäserrugg. This avalanche control holds back approximately 163,000 cubic meters of snow. At this abyss - and the view to the next summit ends our walk today. Safe in Jaspers backpack we were on our way back. Jasper climbed and we dreamed of meadows, flowers and ibexes. Kisses Sansone |

Dear mummy,
guess what, I'm in Germany! After a few days in the envelope I arrived in Paderborn, North Rhine-Westphalia. When I crawled out of the envelope I looked into the friendly faces of many TVs: Mefito, Störte, Frederik, *Nick* and Lille who are all at home at the moment. I was very happy to see them and I'm sure we'll become good friends! We sat together for a long time and talked about TV-life while eating the sweets I brought with me. And then hostmum had another surprise in store: she introduced Gianna to me, a real Italian dog lady Gianna was very happy to meet a dog from Italy and allowed me to sit in her bed where she asked me many questions about our native country. And so we talked almost all night long... Many kisses, yours Sansone |

Hi mom,
tomorrow is hostmum's birthday so we decided to surprise her with lots of muffins As soon as hostmum had left home we started our baking-party: First we collected all the ingredients we needed. Frederik read the recipe for us. And for the next five hours we occupied ourselves with baking 92 red wine-muffins (and with stopping Störte drinking the whole bottle of wine ) Okay, of course we all had to try the muffins so we had 86 at last I'm sure it'll be a great surprise for hostmum!! All the best yours Sansone |

Dear mum,
yesterday evening we drove to a Thai Restaurant in Bad Lippspringe, a small town near Paderborn. In the car I got to know two enthusiastic football fans (Borussia Dortmund and Hamburger SV, unfortunately no Bologna FC supporters ) who live in hostparent's car and are always on the road..) Of course we talked about football the whole way. In the restaurant I first chose a dish before exploring the furnishings... The dish was very yummy: vegetarian spring rolls and rice with vegetables and tofu Unfortunately the Ramazzotti was sold out this evening (hostmum loves Ramazzotti ) but the owner of the restaurant promised to buy new one the next day... Hope you're fine mum, yours Sansone |

yesterday hostmum, Gianna and me went on a cycling tour: hostmum cycled, Gianna ran and I was driven around We took a rest at river Beke but I don't like water as much as Gianna Then we passed a tunnel. We drove on the viaduct way and I asked myself why it was called this way but suddenly we saw a great railway bridge: the small viaduct that belongs to Neuenbeken, hostmum's home village which is a district of Paderborn. Hostmum promised to come back and whatch the viaduct when the sky is blue All the best yours Sansone |
mcdaniels Posted Sep 14, 2015, 8:25 pm |
And so we did today, a great sunny day
First we climbed up a lookout tower and after that we looked at the viaduct from close to. Hostmum said that this so called small viaduct has got a big brother in Altenbeken a small town next to Neuenbeken and of course we'll visit it! Yours Sansone |

Dear mum,
we are on holiday in Friedrichskoog at the North Sea! On the first pictures you can see the hose we live in for one week. On our first day we took a walk on a narrow dam that leads to Friedrichskoog's little lighthouse. It was great to see the ocean... have a look!! Back at the dyke we found a big Stone with an inscription: at this place runs the 54th northern latitude. See you soon yours Sansone |
mcdaniels Posted Oct 6, 2015, 6:10 pm |
Hi mum,
today we walked on the dyke that protects the land from the sea. Hundreds of sheeps live on the dyke from spring to autumn. In a ditch I discovered a crab Back from the dyke I met a gigantic worm and I was captain on a ship All the best Sansone |
mcdaniels Posted Oct 6, 2015, 6:16 pm |
Today afternoon we had teatime in a nice café next to the dyke. I studied the menu and decided to drink original Friesian black tea and eat two pieces of cake. Yummy!
|
mcdaniels Posted Oct 6, 2015, 6:29 pm |
After eating and drinking we took a walk on the Trischendamm, a dam that leads two kilometres into the North Sea. But guess what, there was no water in the Sea today
Every hundred metres there was a stone that showed how many metres we've covered. Without water we could see many shells lying there... We studied many signs with explanations regarding plants and animals in and at the North Sea. Yours Sansone |
mcdaniels Posted Oct 10, 2015, 6:25 pm |
Dear mum,
today we visited Meldorf, a small town near Friedrichskoog with a great cathedral. And with hostmum's favourite café. On the market place we met a funny person... Have a look: Yours Sansone |
mcdaniels Posted Oct 10, 2015, 6:39 pm |
Today we wanted to visit the seal station Friedrichskoog is famous for. In this station little seals which have lost their mother or which are found sick and helpless are reared and later set free in the North Sea.
Unfortunalety in the station there were no dogs allowed so we only could have a look outside and visited the tower and the nice paintings. See you yours Sansone |
mcdaniels Posted Oct 12, 2015, 6:25 pm |
Hi mum,
today I learned two things: it is important to look where you drive and Schleswig-Holstein is the state of cabbage. Millions of cabbages are growing here!! Yours Sansone |
mcdaniels Posted Oct 12, 2015, 6:32 pm |
Guess what, mum, when we came back to the Trischendamm today afternoon the water was back in the North Sea!
Störte explained me the mystery of the tides: low tide-no water, high tide-water. It was great to look at the waves... |
mcdaniels Posted Oct 14, 2015, 8:11 pm |
Hi mum,
today we took a walk on the dyke again. The weather was great: sunny and windy - the typical weather at the North Sea Störte said. After enjoying the sun in a wicker beach we all were impressed by the great sunset Yours Sansone |
mcdaniels Posted Oct 14, 2015, 8:16 pm |
And now it's time to say goodbye to the North Sea.
After visiting the windmill hostparents got married years ago we took a last look at the Sea. It's been a great time in Friedrichskoog! Love you yours Sansone |
mcdaniels Posted Oct 16, 2015, 12:32 pm |
Dear mummy,
and now we're at our next holiday resort: Heinrichshagen, a very small village in the Weser uplands in Lower Saxony. We stay in a small cabin next to the forest. And as you can see autumn is coming in Germany! Yours Sansone |
mcdaniels Posted Oct 16, 2015, 12:36 pm |
And this is our crew:
Lille, Augustin, Hauke, me, Josef and Mefito. Störte didn't want to come with us, the Weser Uplands are only for landlubbers, he said. But as you can see later he has given us parts of his special stock Yours Sansone |
mcdaniels Posted Oct 16, 2015, 12:44 pm |
In the afternoon we took a first walk into the forest. We took a rest between a group of very nice fly agarics and we felt like in a fairy-tale forest
On our way back home we saw lots of apple trees with hundrets of apples. Hostmum said this year there are a lot of apples in Germany. |
mcdaniels Posted Oct 16, 2015, 12:48 pm |
Hi mum,
the next morning I took an early walk with Gianna. It was a bit foggy and the forest looked very mysterious... Yours Sansone |
mcdaniels Posted Oct 16, 2015, 1:11 pm |
In the afternoon we took a walk to the Ebersnackenturm, a really high tower made of wood. Before climbing up I assured that the screws inspired confidence
After climbing lots and lots of steps we had a great view!! On a slab many towns and distances to these towns and places were engraved. Hostmum showed me the distance to Dortmund, her birthplace and to London. And guess what, I could look down without feeling dizzy!! All the best yours Sansone |
mcdaniels Posted Oct 16, 2015, 8:49 pm |
Here you can see how small Heinrichshagen is. |
mcdaniels Posted Oct 16, 2015, 9:06 pm |
Hi mum,
in the afternoon we walked to Kirchbrak a village near Heinrichshagen for going shopping. We walked through a forest, have a look at the big old trees, mum! I found an acorn and a chestnut In Kirchbrak we studied the map of walks and the information board standing next to the very old church of Kirchbrak. Back home in the evening we tried a part of Störte's 'Food for the journey' Very best wishes yours Sansone |
mcdaniels Posted Oct 22, 2015, 8:12 pm |
Dear mum,
today we took a long walk round Heinrichshagen and Kirchbrak. It was a great sunny day and we enjoyed the walk very much, have a look! We met some typical German cows, visited another tower (unfortunately closed) and saw the Ebersnacken-Tower far away. The last picture shows fern, typical for German forests. See you yours Sansone |

on the way back to Paderborn we stopped in Bodenwerder, birthtown of baron von Münchhausen who lived in the 18th century and was famous for lots of packs of lies, for example the story of flying on a cannon ball... After visiting Münchhausen's house of birth I got a souvenir Finally we said goodbye to river Weser and drove home. We had great holidays! Yours Sansone |

They can live there as long as they want...great!
I introduced myself to all of them and we had a lot of fun Yours Sansone |

Hello Mum,
I went to a place called Jersbek. Behind me you see an Eiskeller. People stored things in it, to keep it cold – in the Past. This was really interesting. Then I went to a nice park – this was the place in front of it. I learnt a lot about the park here. There were beautiful trees behind me. They are called the 12 apostles. Spring starts now here. The park belongs to this small castle. What a nice alley. Look – an obelisk. Yours Sansone |

Hello Mum,
Today I went to Hamburg with RikeH. I had nice views of the Alster – a lake in the city. Near to it there were the Alsterarkaden. Look, the town hall behind me. This is art, I think. A closer look of the town hall. Many swans were here. A last view of the town hall. Love Sansone |
RikeH Posted May 23, 2017, 8:05 pm |
Hello Mum,
Can you imagine, where I am? Right – it's the Port of Hamburg. And I saw the Elbphilharmonie of Hamburg in the distance. This is the River Elbe. And the Landungsbrücken. Last views in two directions. Yours Samsone |
RikeH Posted May 24, 2017, 8:49 pm |
Hallo Mum,
I am on the Bornholm Island. Today I went onto the beach near to our holiday house. The crossing looks good. And the beach was beautiful! Surely I will come back and walk along the Baltic Sea. But today we wanted to go to Dueodde and see the lighthouse there. Next to it I climbed onto a dune and had a great view. Then we walked to the beach – it looked similar to the first one. Far behind me you can see the lighthouse. I saw the sunlight on the water. We liked it here. Then we arrived at an exciting place. Maybe you cannot see it on the sign. Then 55th Northern latitude and the 15th Eastern longitude meet here. At the end we found a beautiful water mill – without water today. Yours Samsone |
RikeH Posted May 27, 2017, 10:16 am |
Hello, can you see me in the red plant?
There are 4 Round Churches on Bornholm – this is the Sankt Ols Kirke. It was exciting. We climbed up these stairs. Later it became steeper, very – and dark. This is the altar. I liked the painting on the ceiling. The church and the bell tower looked so beautiful! Yours Samsone |
RikeH Posted Jun 5, 2017, 7:11 pm |
Hello Mum,
The fortress Hammerhus looked great – it is only a ruin now, but worth a visit. We had a nice view from this point. The fortress was really big, I think. You still can see it today. It looks great over there. I will have a closer look. Really beautiful. This was my famous view of the fortress. Yours Samsone |

Hello Mum,
This is the Port of Sandvig. You can see two big hotels next to it. We drove to Madsebakke. There were nice scratichings in the rock. You can see a ship here. A better view here – it is a ship out of the Bronze Age. I have no idea, where these circles stand for. On the way home we stopped at the cliffs Helligdomsklipperne. Love Sansone |

Hi Mum,
look behind me – you see Denmark's highest waterfall – Dondalen. It wasn't that impressive – but it was a nice walk to reach it. Here you see the small river, behind the waterfall. I found a really big mushroom. The bear's garlic bloomed. We liked it here. Yours Sansone |

Hello Mum,
Svaneke shall be one of the most beautiful towns in Denmark. Well – this bay looked nice. There were 4 chimneys of a smokehouse. This is typical for Bornholm. The market place. There were some old and colorful houses. Then we walked to the port. Svaneke is a nice small town – but hopefully not the most beautiful town of Denmark… It was time to show our holiday home. It was big enough for all of us here. A great living-room… …and a nice kitchen. Do you know what this is? It was the start of a wasps' nest These were our favorite places – we could sit here and watch TV, or turn around and look into the beautiful garden. Yours Samsone |
RikeH Posted Jun 29, 2017, 1:02 am |
Hello Mum,
I am in Canada at the moment. It was hot in Toronto – very high temperature. Nevertheless we wanted to see something. This is one of the most beautiful churches in Toronto – the St.-James-Kathedrale. I liked the interior, too. Look – the St. Lawrence Market. Then we arrived at the Distillery District. Here you see many industrial buildings out of the Victorian time. Many bridal pairs come to this place to take photos. Maybe this is the reason for this heart. A carriage with some barrels. Well – it looked like it was in the Past – only the high buildings were not here in that time. This house was so beautiful. Can you see, what this is? Right – so many padlocks, put here by pairs in love. You can see things like this all over the world, I think. The Distillery District is famous for movies or commercials. Today it was a commercial for Pizza. It was exciting - I met a player of Toronto's baseball team. Yours Samsone |

Hello Mum,
What a beautiful place. I visit the Niagara-Falls. Behind me you see the US-Fall. There is the Canadian fall – it seems to be wider. It looked so beautiful! We went behind the falls – well – this view wasn't that exciting. But it was very loud – and I felt the power of the water. Then we went onto a great viewing-platform. It was very wet – you see the people with the yellow ponchos. Thank you Rike that you took photos, although your camera got wet… Our last stop were the rapids. The walk was called White Water Walk – and the view was so beautiful. I learnt about rapids – there are 6 grades for it. These have the number 6 – the most dangerous rapids. You cannot see on the photo, how fast the water moved. It was a great day here. Love Samsone |
