Hello! My name is Scoop!
I am somewhat of a seasoned Toy Voyager - I have actually been on a worldwide journey before, all the way back in 2000! I used to write letters and send postcards to Natalie as I travelled from place to place. This was the first letter I ever sent to her back when I first started my journey! I have travelled to Austria, New York, Turkey and Ibiza amongst others. This is a photo of me in Austria in 2001, as you can see I have aged very well! I came back home again in 2005 and have been here ever since, but when Natalie told me about this website I got a sudden urge to start travelling again! I can't wait to see where I will be heading first! |
svartberg Posted Jul 15, 2013, 12:23 am |
Natalie went to a gig today, so I decided to sneak along with her in her bag. It didn't take long for her to find me after she got on the train!
We passed a large body of sand and water whilst we were travelling. There were lots of birds about there so I bet there was fish but sadly I was blocked from getting out by the window! Rubbish! When we got off the train we were in a place called Chester! We saw a pretty garden next to a hotel on the way to the venue, it was blocked by a gate but we were still able to look inside. We also passed a river. Sometimes there are boats/narrowboats on there but not today. I wanted to see more of Chester because it looked really pretty but Natalie was in a hurry to get there for when the doors opened. When we got inside, she got herself a pint of cider and she wouldn't even let me have one sip, talk about rude. She said it would go straight to my head, pffft. The gig was really good too! It was only in a small room with not a lot of people but it was still a lot of fun! My ears were ringing by the end (I'm not used to such noise, so after the first band I retreated to the bag again!) but I would love to go to another gig in the future! Tomorrow I will start properly travelling again, I am going to be travelling to Italy to stay with goldmoon and I am so excited!!! |
goldmoon Posted Jul 26, 2013, 7:59 pm |
I finally arrived in Italy, in a little place called Castenaso!!
I pleasantly realized that I arrived together with a little wolf called Hemming |
goldmoon Posted Jul 26, 2013, 8:01 pm |

She were looking at me from distance, but then she came near to better know me |

Goldmoon's boyfriend invited us to a Chinese restaurant that she was curious to try. We could eat everything we want and pay a fixed price. It was great. We ate really a lot!!
|
goldmoon Posted Aug 15, 2013, 7:19 pm |
After dinner, we saw the Sanctuary of the Madonna of San Luca.
It is a basilica church sited over "Colle della Guardia", in a forested hill about 300 metres above the city. It is the first monument that Bolognese people see when they are coming home driving the motorway. When they see this Sanctuary, they finally feel to be close to home It is also possible to reach the sanctuary walking along a 3.5 km monumental roofed arcade (Portico di San Luca) consisting of 666 arches, which was built in 1674-1793. We also see some of these arches part of the arcade is restructuring. The Sanctuary houses a miraculous icon of the Virgin Mary. In 1433, the spring was extremely rainy, threatening to ruin the harvest. To avoid the prospect of a famine, the lawyer Accarisi promoted the descent of the icon of the Madonna and Child (attributed to St. Luke) toask her the grace for the end of the rains. When the icon entered the city on July 5, the rain stopped. There was a big party with a procession of three days to the city, then they accompanied the image to the sanctuary. Since then, as urban vote, these celebrations are repeated every year (in May). |
goldmoon Posted Aug 15, 2013, 8:10 pm |

goldmoon Posted Aug 15, 2013, 9:26 pm |
Today, as goldmoon has the afternoon free, we went to a place called Cervia. It is a touristic city on the Adriatic sea. Goldmoon loves this city. We are here to find an hotel where spend some days in the second half of August
We walked a lot, really a lot, because we saw many hotels before finding the one where we'll stay no one seemed to be nice as goldmoon desired and some of them were full But, luckily, we have found the right one!! After that, we went some minutes on the beach We'll come back here on August, 19th |
goldmoon Posted Aug 18, 2013, 7:42 pm |

Last day of job for goldmoon. She took us with her, as she was alone :-)
We watched her in updating some invoices, and we helped her in archiving some interesting economical news from the newspaper |
goldmoon Posted Sep 6, 2013, 11:26 pm |
Afternoon. One friend of goldmoon asked her to look up at her cat. Catsitting work :-) let's go!
We are going to a place called Mezzolara, at about 10 kms from Castenaso. Country roads... |
goldmoon Posted Sep 6, 2013, 11:27 pm |
and finally we meet the street sign
|
goldmoon Posted Sep 6, 2013, 11:29 pm |
Mezzolara is a very very little village. We took some photos of the beginning of the village, petrol pump station on the left and news-stand on the right, the Church of San Michele Arcangelo (Saint Michael Archangel), the central road of the village
|
goldmoon Posted Sep 6, 2013, 11:31 pm |
Over there... Oliver, the cat...
|
goldmoon Posted Sep 7, 2013, 12:02 am |
Saturday. This afternoon we are going to Verona!! Very lovely city. Goldmoon loves it very much.
Verona is a city straddling the Adige river, in northern Italy. It is famous because the great Shakespeare located here his "Romeo and Juliet"and because here there is an ancient roman Arena. So, let's take the toll highway ! |
goldmoon Posted Sep 7, 2013, 12:13 am |
Here we are arrived in Verona, after a trip of about 1 hour and a half
we parked the car near this ancient entry of the city: Porta Palio |
goldmoon Posted Sep 7, 2013, 12:28 am |
This is the ancient Scaligeri bridge (also known as Castelvecchio bridge). It is a red bricks arch bridge over the Adige river. It is a pedestrian bridge.
|
goldmoon Posted Sep 7, 2013, 12:47 am |
And here we are outside the Arena of Verona. It is a Roman amphitheatre built in 30 A.D.
It is famous also because of the opera performances taken here. Infact, this evening we'll see the Aida of Giuseppe Verdi!! |
goldmoon Posted Sep 7, 2013, 12:50 am |
Here we are inside the Arena. Within 1 hour it will begin the opera. We took a photo of the scenic design because during the opera it is forbidden taking photos..
|
goldmoon Posted Sep 10, 2013, 10:08 pm |
15th of August. In Italy today is a feast, both civil and religious.
We went with goldmoon's parents to eat at the restaurant. We tasted both "crespella with mushrooms" and "tortellini". Crespella is like a crepe or a thin pancake, full of bechamel and mushrooms and folded in half and again in half. It is cooked in the oven. Tortellini are a tipical bolognese food. They are a filled pasta and they have the shape of a belly-button. They are filled with a particular mix of meat (the real filling is registered at the local Chamber of Commerce). Usually they are cooked in broth. They were both delicious!! |
goldmoon Posted Sep 10, 2013, 11:30 pm |
Two days away from Bologna for us. Today we are going to Tuscany!
Let's take the toll highway... |
goldmoon Posted Sep 10, 2013, 11:33 pm |
Pisa or Livorno first? Let's go to Livorno ;-)
|
goldmoon Posted Sep 10, 2013, 11:34 pm |
Look over there! Smoke! Some underbrush was in fire, but firemen were already working to stop it
|
goldmoon Posted Sep 10, 2013, 11:37 pm |
So here we are in Livorno.
|
goldmoon Posted Sep 10, 2013, 11:48 pm |
This is the "Barriera Margherita". It is placed along the walk near the sea and it is an old barrier that delimited the duty area of the city (now it is disused).
After this construction, proceeding along the street, there are a lot of sumptuous villas. |
goldmoon Posted Sep 10, 2013, 11:51 pm |
We arrived in a sort of stone playa, a place near the sea where people can lay under the sun and have a bath. But without sand, only with stones.
This is a view of the back side of the military Academia |
goldmoon Posted Sep 10, 2013, 11:55 pm |
And here we are in the front of the Italian Naval Academy. It is a military university which is responsible for the technical training of the military officiers of the Italian Navy.
We took a rapid shot because this is military zone and photos are not appreciated. |
goldmoon Posted Sep 10, 2013, 11:59 pm |
This is the Terrazza Mascagni (Mascagni terrace). It is an elegant and striking panoramic viewpoint with this particular floor.
The round construction is called "Gazebo", and it is a little temple for the music. |
goldmoon Posted Sep 11, 2013, 12:06 am |
And now we are back on the car. Next destination is the city of Pisa!
|
goldmoon Posted Sep 11, 2013, 9:05 am |
Look! Those are the external walls of Pisa!
|
goldmoon Posted Sep 11, 2013, 9:16 am |
And here we are in the back of the famous Torre pendente of Pisa (Leaning Tower of Pisa)!!! It is the campanile of the cathedral of the city. It is situated behind the cathedral and it is famous worldwide for its tilt to one side.
The tower tilt began during its construction, caused by an inadequate foundation ground which was too soft on one side to properly support the structure's weight. Its construction took almost 200 years and the tower was completed in 1372. The tower is 55.86 m high (on the low side) and 57.70 m (on the high side). |
goldmoon Posted Sep 11, 2013, 9:21 am |
Here we are in Piazza del Duomo (Cathedral Square), also known as "Square of Miracles". This name was created by the Italian writer Gabriele d'Annunzio. The square is totally pedestrian and covered by a green lawn.
The hole Square is a UNESCO world heritage site. This is the Duomo, a medieval cathedral entitled to St. Mary of the Assumption. Both the Duomo and the Tower can be visited inside. But there was a SO long queue that we decided to see it only externally. |
goldmoon Posted Sep 11, 2013, 9:23 am |
Little rest in a commercial centre. We ate an ice-cream in an ice-cream shop called "the pelican" :-D
|
goldmoon Posted Sep 11, 2013, 9:28 am |
Late afternoon, it's time to find our hotel. Let's go!
|
goldmoon Posted Sep 11, 2013, 9:33 am |
Cāscina. This is the city of our hotel! And this is the hotel! And our bedroom!
|
goldmoon Posted Sep 11, 2013, 9:36 am |
Dinner time. Pizza and semifreddo dessert!
|
goldmoon Posted Sep 11, 2013, 10:03 am |
Our travel continues. So goodbye hotel. We stayed really fine here, but it's time to go..
|
goldmoon Posted Sep 11, 2013, 10:04 am |
Before leaving, we visited the centre of Cāscina. This is the war memorial with some particular glass sculptures placed in the front square
|
beelicious Posted Sep 11, 2013, 12:28 pm |

goldmoon Posted Sep 13, 2013, 9:54 am |
little tour near the lake of Castel dell'Alpi. It was formed as a result of a large landslide that in February 1951, came off the left side of the valley and blocked, just like a dam, the stream Savena.
The village of Castel dell'Alpi, that was located on the left bank of the river, was completely destroyed by this event. Now the village has been partly rebuilt on the right bank of the lake, which has now become a welcome tourist destination, especially in summer. |
goldmoon Posted Sep 13, 2013, 10:06 am |
Next destination is Lucca. Some photos of the travel
|
goldmoon Posted Sep 13, 2013, 10:15 am |
External walls of Lucca (a lot of Italian cities have ancient external walls, and the heart of the city is inside them..)
|
goldmoon Posted Sep 13, 2013, 10:26 am |
Porta San Donato. One of the walls of the city that looks to west. Build in 1629/1639, in origin it had a lift bridge, no more present.
|
goldmoon Posted Sep 13, 2013, 10:29 am |
That is Guinigi Tower. It is one of the few towers remaining within the city walls. Its main characteristic is its hanging garden oh the roof of the tower
We went over there, near the tree :-) |
goldmoon Posted Sep 13, 2013, 10:33 am |
View of the city from the tower...
|
goldmoon Posted Sep 13, 2013, 10:35 am |
and here we are in Massaciuccoli. Here there is a lake which is a naturalistic oasis... What a peace here!
|
goldmoon Posted Sep 13, 2013, 10:40 am |
Last destination for today...
Goldmoon's boyfriend wanted to see the sea. So here we are in Marina of Pisa There were a lot of fishermen.. Does it seem that I'm fishing too? :-D |

|

goldmoon Posted Sep 14, 2013, 12:51 am |
our second day here it's raining :-( but we had a walk on the beach, anyway.
For dinner, I have tasted this particular broth food, traditional of this Italian region: "passatelli". Passatelli (plural) is a pasta formed of bread crumbs, eggs, grated Parmesan cheese and nutmeg. |
goldmoon Posted Sep 14, 2013, 5:19 pm |
let's go to the seaside!!
|

beelicious Posted Mar 31, 2014, 10:43 am |
Then I was in Riedenheim near Wuerzburg.
There is a field with wonderful sculptures made of steel from Herbert Mehler. |
beelicious Posted Mar 31, 2014, 10:44 am |
This is Weikersheim, a little city in Baden-Wuerttemberg.
You see the castle and the old town walls. This is the Gaensturm (geese tower). An old waterwhell. We have to wait at the railway barrier The weather was so fine so we made a walk at the river Tauber. |
beelicious Posted Mar 31, 2014, 10:46 am |
Back at home we made us raspberry-ice cream.
Its very simple! You need cream, frozen raspberries and sugar. Yummie! What a fantastic day! Kiss, -Scoop- |
beelicious Posted Apr 7, 2014, 1:22 pm |
Hello!
Today I was in the garden! The spring is so beautiful! Fini and the other TVs are with me. The daisies are so lovely! I made me a chain with daisies! How do I look? Blossoms, blossoms, blossoms! Fortunaly I dont have hay fever :-)! Bye, -Scoop- |
beelicious Posted Apr 15, 2014, 11:03 am |
Hello,
I think its time to travel further I got an invitation to the wonderful Delft in the Netherlands! I say goodbye to my TV-friends! See you soon! Bye, -Scoop- |
Emjay Posted Apr 19, 2014, 4:56 pm |
Hi there!
After a short journey I arrived at Emjay's place. At least, I think! I couldn't see anything. But then someone opened the envelope and I climbed out. |
Emjay Posted Apr 19, 2014, 4:58 pm |
Hi everyone! I'm Scoop!
They gave me a hug. We had a little party with heartshaped candy. There were Dutch words on the little hearts. I couldn't understand. But one word I recognized: "Cool". Yep, that's me! |
Emjay Posted Apr 19, 2014, 4:59 pm |
I looked around in the garden. |
Emjay Posted Apr 19, 2014, 5:00 pm |
Off we went for my first outing: a bike tour to the garden center in Pijnacker. |
Emjay Posted Apr 19, 2014, 5:02 pm |
On the way back we saw a small sheep herd, glass houses and bright yellow fieldflowers. |
Emjay Posted Apr 19, 2014, 5:03 pm |
Here you can see Dutch people love cycling!
I think I like it here! Well, I'm a bit tired now of all the impressions. I talk to you soon. Bye, bye! your Scoop |
Emjay Posted Apr 20, 2014, 10:06 am |
Hi dear mum!
The Easter Bunny got up very early this morning and hid the eggs. |
Emjay Posted Apr 20, 2014, 10:07 am |
Look, I found one! |
Emjay Posted Apr 20, 2014, 10:08 am |
All the eggs are back in the basket.
Have a happy Easter, mum! From all of us. Hug, Scoop |
Emjay Posted Apr 25, 2014, 6:39 pm |
Hi mum!
Emjay had to do a course in Utrecht and we went along! We traveled by train. The first thing we saw when we left the station was Vredenburg concerthall. It's being renovated. |
Emjay Posted Apr 25, 2014, 6:40 pm |
On the way to class we saw an alley called "the nicest alley of Utrecht". Well, I think it's true. It certainly had a nice horsey on the wall. |
Emjay Posted Apr 25, 2014, 6:41 pm |
After class we had some time to spend in the city center. |
Emjay Posted Apr 25, 2014, 6:43 pm |
Utrecht has a well known church called the Dom. It has the highest tower of the Netherlands. Or so they say... The inhabitants of Delft claim their New Church has the highest tower! |
Emjay Posted Apr 25, 2014, 6:44 pm |
Lovely red shutters. |
Emjay Posted Apr 25, 2014, 6:45 pm |
We went from Utrecht to Zoetermeer by train. |
Emjay Posted Apr 25, 2014, 6:45 pm |
Isn't this a charming statue. |
Emjay Posted Apr 25, 2014, 6:47 pm |
Zoetermeer used to be a small village. In the seventies, eighties and nineties it grew immensely. A lot of ugly flat were built. But nowadays builders realize that a green surrounding is very important. |
Emjay Posted Apr 25, 2014, 6:49 pm |
This is the theatre of Zoetermeer. We saw a great concert here with Dutch and Swedish songs. It wasn't really a gig, so my life mission isn't fulfilled yet.
Here you can see a small impression: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DQPhPkCqohc I hope you enjoy it too, mum! |
Emjay Posted Apr 25, 2014, 6:50 pm |
Today Batyr and me went for a stroll in the neighbourhood park. |
Emjay Posted Apr 25, 2014, 6:51 pm |
This plaque has something to do with the geographical middlepoint of Delft. |
Emjay Posted Apr 25, 2014, 6:53 pm |
We are on a tall building, where Emjay's mother-in-law lives. We have a view over the park from here.
Tomorrow will be an important day in the Netherlands. Just wait and see! |
Emjay Posted Apr 26, 2014, 2:29 pm |
Hi mum!
Today King Willem Alexander celebrates his birthday. Everything turns orange today, because that's the national colour. Emjay painted her nails, we get some orange scarves and we even eat orange cakes. |
Emjay Posted Apr 26, 2014, 2:32 pm |
Let's go to the city center to celebrate!
Everything is decorated. Can you see the portrait of the King behind me? It's made of crochet patches. |
Emjay Posted Apr 26, 2014, 2:34 pm |
Along the canals there's a huge fleemarket. |
Emjay Posted Apr 26, 2014, 2:35 pm |
Emjay's aunt has a stall too. She sells children's clothes. |
Emjay Posted Apr 26, 2014, 2:37 pm |
To escape from the hustle and bustle, we visit a quiet place: Hofje van Pauw. Hofje is a Dutch word for a courtyard with almshouses around it. |
Emjay Posted Apr 26, 2014, 2:38 pm |
This is the portrait of Elisabeth Pauw, the founder of Hofje van Pauw. "Pauw" means "peacock" by the way. |
Emjay Posted Apr 26, 2014, 2:40 pm |
Phew! A medium size for humans is like an XXXXL for Tv's! |
Emjay Posted Apr 26, 2014, 2:40 pm |
I like to sail on a boat like this one day. |
Emjay Posted Apr 26, 2014, 2:41 pm |
Someone made a lovely tulip garden. |
Emjay Posted Apr 26, 2014, 2:42 pm |
And here is something else typically Dutch. |
Emjay Posted Apr 26, 2014, 2:44 pm |
This artwork is simply called "Hard stone obejct". But Emjay insists it's a ToyVoyager church!
I hope you enjoyed my festive pictures. Bye, mum! Your Scoop |
Emjay Posted Apr 27, 2014, 10:36 am |
But... the festivities hadn't ended yet! It's a tradition at Emjay's house for plushies to camp out in the garden at Kings Day! So we set up a tent. |
Emjay Posted Apr 27, 2014, 10:38 am |
We are singing Dutch songs around our 'campfire'. Like:
And then it's time for bed. |
Emjay Posted Apr 27, 2014, 10:40 am |
The next morning we had a nice breakfast in front of the tent. Kings Day is over, but we still wear our orange scrafs, cause it is a little chilly.
Well, that was our camping adventure! Bye, mum! Your Scoop |
Emjay Posted Apr 29, 2014, 2:26 pm |
Hi mum!
We got a surprise today! I opened the package with my beak. Then I looked in and called: "Yoohoo!" |
Emjay Posted Apr 29, 2014, 2:27 pm |
Out came a tiny bear, called Tommi. We gave him a biiiiiig hug! |
Emjay Posted Apr 29, 2014, 2:29 pm |
We had the same candy as on my party. Tommi looked if he could find an English word and he did!
It's nice to have a new friend. Bye, mum! Scoop |
Emjay Posted May 4, 2014, 8:20 am |
Hi mum!
We went for a little trip to Gouda, famous for it's cheese. This is the cheese market. |
Emjay Posted May 4, 2014, 8:21 am |
Tommi and my at the "Kaaswaag". The cheeses used to be weighed here. |
Emjay Posted May 4, 2014, 8:23 am |
Here are some more lovely sites of Gouda. |
Emjay Posted May 4, 2014, 8:24 am |
We have a typical Dutch lunch. No, not bread and cheese, but "patat met": chips with mayonaise |
Emjay Posted May 4, 2014, 8:25 am |
But when we are home, we enjoy some Gouda cheese with all our friends: old cheese with cummin seeds and a mild younger cheese. Yummy!
I'll write to you again soon! Bye! your Scoop |
Emjay Posted May 5, 2014, 1:06 pm |
Hi mum!
We visited a historic place: Agneta Park. |
Emjay Posted May 5, 2014, 1:08 pm |
Agnetapark is an area of workers' housing for the workers of the Yeast Factory. It was built in the late 19th century by order of Jacques van Marken. He and his wife Agneta were remarkable people who treated the workers and their families with respect. |
Emjay Posted May 5, 2014, 1:09 pm |
This used to be a theatre. Now it's a restaurant. |
Emjay Posted May 5, 2014, 1:10 pm |
This part was built later, in the 1920's. I like the bright yellow windows. |
Emjay Posted May 5, 2014, 1:11 pm |
It's an important day in the Netherlands: Remembrance Day. Today Dutch people remember the victims of World War II.
This small statue is dedicated to the people in the resistance. |
Emjay Posted May 5, 2014, 1:12 pm |
Later we watch the Remembrance ceremony at the Dam Square in Amsterdam on tv. A lot of people turned up. |
Emjay Posted May 5, 2014, 1:13 pm |
Some people place a wreath at the foot on the national War Monument. It was impressive. |
Emjay Posted May 5, 2014, 1:16 pm |
Today is a happy day. Dutch people celebrate the ending of World War II and freedom in general. Some people hang out their flags. |
Emjay Posted May 5, 2014, 1:17 pm |
It's not an official holiday. Emjay has a day off, though. We walk to her old neighbourhood. |
Emjay Posted May 5, 2014, 1:18 pm |
I bet you think this is a nice, soft bale of hay. But it's made of concrete! |
Emjay Posted May 5, 2014, 1:18 pm |
Here we are at a viewpoint. |
Emjay Posted May 5, 2014, 1:19 pm |
Look, a smiley made of thread! |
Emjay Posted May 5, 2014, 1:20 pm |
Nice spot. |
Emjay Posted May 5, 2014, 1:21 pm |
Isn't this fantastic!? It's Emjay's old street and it's named after ME!!! Pelican Alley. I'm sooo proud! |
Emjay Posted May 5, 2014, 1:22 pm |
Here it is: MY street, celebrating Liberty Day!
Bye, mum! your proud and happy Scoop |
Emjay Posted May 11, 2014, 8:35 pm |
Hi dear mum!
I've been here for some time now and never visited the historic sites of Delft yet! So today I did. Batyr and Tommi came along. First we went to Emjay's workplace. |
Emjay Posted May 11, 2014, 8:35 pm |
Yay! Work is done and off we go! This is the only canal in Delft where houseboats are allowed. |
Emjay Posted May 11, 2014, 8:37 pm |
Do you recognize this picture? Emjay uses it as her profile pic. It's the East Gate (Oostpoort), the only remaining city gate. |
Emjay Posted May 11, 2014, 8:38 pm |
Here we are at the market square. This is the lovely townhall. |
Emjay Posted May 11, 2014, 8:39 pm |
From the balconny of the townhall we have a good view of the New Church. It's not that new, though. It was built in the Middle Ages! |
Emjay Posted May 11, 2014, 8:40 pm |
Delft is famous for Delft Blue pottery. You can see it all around. Not only in pottery form, but also on the wall or on a streetlamp! |
Emjay Posted May 11, 2014, 8:42 pm |
This is the Old Church, which is even older than the New Churh
From a distance you can see it has a leaning tower. |
Emjay Posted May 11, 2014, 8:43 pm |
Quality time with my friends. |
Emjay Posted May 11, 2014, 8:43 pm |
Yeah, we <3 Delft! |
Emjay Posted May 11, 2014, 8:58 pm |
We watched telly all night to see Eurovision Song Contest!
Ah, here's Molly! Isn't she lovely? |
Emjay Posted May 11, 2014, 9:00 pm |
We enjoyed watching all singers. This is the winner: Conchita from Austria with an unusual act.
The Common Linnets from the Netherlands were runners up! |
Emjay Posted May 11, 2014, 9:03 pm |
Today is Mothers' Day in the Netherlands. So: happy Mothers' Day, dear mum!
We went to a nice biological restaurant with Emjay's mum and mum-in-law and we enjoyed a lovely lunch. I wish you could have been there, mum! Bye! Luv you! Scoop |
Emjay Posted May 15, 2014, 4:35 pm |
Hi mum!
We had a special day for Suomi-Girl, because she is almost leaving. We visited Royal Delft museum, where a lot of Delft Blue pottery is exhibited. |
Emjay Posted May 15, 2014, 4:36 pm |
As this is Suomi-Girl's day, Emjay didn't take a lot of photo's of the other TV's. Here are some. |
Emjay Posted May 15, 2014, 4:37 pm |
Look what we found: something with the word 'pelican' on it. Again! |
Emjay Posted May 15, 2014, 4:40 pm |
This is the most impressive piece in the museum: Rembrandt's Nightwatch made of Delft Blue tiles. It looks a bit yellow due to the flashlight, though!
That was our trip today. Bye, mum! Scoop |
Emjay Posted May 18, 2014, 7:28 pm |
Hi mum!
We say goodbye to Suomi-Girl today. We surprised her with a LOT of chocolates! |
Emjay Posted May 18, 2014, 7:29 pm |
After we ate all the chocolates and chatted about our adventures, we gave Suomi-Girl a big hug. You can hardly see her! |
Emjay Posted May 18, 2014, 7:31 pm |
Suomi-Girl gets into her envelope. She's going home to see her mum and her brother. Bye, bye! We will miss your smiling face!
Bye, mum! Love, Scoop |
Emjay Posted May 29, 2014, 8:35 am |
Hi mum!
The weather has been bad for days! Here are a few pics from better days. |
Emjay Posted May 29, 2014, 8:36 am |
This tunnel will be demolished. In the meantime people can make graffitti art here legally. I like this big bird. Distant family of me, I guess! |
Emjay Posted May 29, 2014, 8:38 am |
This must be the ugliest bridge ever! Someone with a sence of humor named it "Ponte Vecchio".
That's it for now, mum. Keep your fingers crossed for better weather! Bye! your Scoop |
Emjay Posted May 30, 2014, 2:59 pm |
Hi mum!
The sun came out today! We went into the garden and met a new TV. She's called Hollandia and she's a stay-at-home TV. Sounds a little strange, huh? She will travel one day, but first she want to meet 100 TV's! Well, we are four. So 96 more to go! |
Emjay Posted May 31, 2014, 4:54 pm |
Dear mum,
Our new friend Hollandia shows us another part of Delft, north from the center. We start at windmill "The Rose", the only surviving windmill in Delft. It isn't for sale, like the one in Kluetz! |
Emjay Posted May 31, 2014, 4:55 pm |
Behind me you can see the old watertower. It's a congres center now. |
Emjay Posted May 31, 2014, 4:57 pm |
In the sixties the drinking water in Delft was bad. The city council provided fresh drinking water to the inhabitants. Outof gratitude the inhabitants of Delft donated this monument to the council. |
Emjay Posted May 31, 2014, 4:58 pm |
We visit a mysterious grave... |
Emjay Posted May 31, 2014, 5:04 pm |
"Here rests Louis XVII" it says on the tombstone. But that isn't true! Karl Naundorff is buried here. He was an imposter, claiming he was Louis XVII. If you like to know more about this mysterious man, follow this link: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Karl_Wilhelm_Naundorff |
Emjay Posted May 31, 2014, 5:06 pm |
We rest on a bench, dedicated to Prof. Huet. |
Emjay Posted May 31, 2014, 5:07 pm |
This is the former mayor's house. It's an office now. |
Emjay Posted May 31, 2014, 5:08 pm |
This is a statue for former Queen Wilhelmina. She reigned during World War II and she was the great-grandmother of King Willem Alexander. |
Emjay Posted May 31, 2014, 5:09 pm |
Wow, what a tropical paradise! |
Emjay Posted May 31, 2014, 5:10 pm |
And here is some more graffitti art behind the station. |
Emjay Posted May 31, 2014, 5:10 pm |
You can see Dutch people cycle a lot! |
Emjay Posted May 31, 2014, 5:11 pm |
Here are some nice poppy's for you, mum!
Bye, bye! Love, -Scoop- |
Emjay Posted Jun 4, 2014, 7:05 am |
Hi mum!
We had great fun last night! Emjay took us to a singing workshop by a very talented musician. This is the song Emjay sang. |
Emjay Posted Jun 4, 2014, 7:06 am |
Here we are jamming ourselves. I played with my beak. We even discovered a piece of Mozart. It looks really old. I think Mozart wrote it himself! |
Emjay Posted Jan 5, 2015, 8:14 am |
Hi mum!
Finally, I'm back here online! As you know, I'm still staying at Emjay's place. Did you see my messages on Facebook? Since we spoke last time, a lot has happened. To mention one thing: I've been to Greece! I can't post a picture now, cause Emjay's PC doesn't work. Just wanted you to know I'm fine! Big hug from your little pelican, -Scoop- |
Emjay Posted Jan 6, 2015, 9:24 am |
Hi again, mum!
This is a picture from Christmas: Kevin and me in the Christmastree! There's more to come! |
Emjay Posted Jan 7, 2015, 9:04 am |
Hi mum,
Here are some highlights of my stay with Emjay. We even went to Greece! But let me start at the beginning: here are some pictures from Fringe Theatre Festival in Delft. We were very close to the singers, as you can see! This took place in June last year. |

My friends and me in the Japanese garden in The Hague in June 2014. |

Emjay Posted Jan 7, 2015, 9:33 am |
In September we went to Crete! It was great! |
Emjay Posted Jan 7, 2015, 9:42 am |
Back in the Netherlands, we visited Gouda, famous for it's cheese. I remember I was here before. |
Emjay Posted Jan 7, 2015, 9:55 am |
In November another life mission was fulfilled: I saw a wonderful aquarium at Blijdorp Zoo! |
Emjay Posted Jan 7, 2015, 9:58 am |
On December 5th we celebrated Sinterklaas (St. Nicolas' Day) with a traditional gift: chocolate letters. TV for ToyVoyagers, off course! |
Emjay Posted Jan 7, 2015, 9:59 am |
We got a nice pre-Christmas gift, too! Thanks, Henna! |
Emjay Posted Jan 7, 2015, 10:02 am |
We spent a weekend in Düsseldorf and went to the Christmas fair. |
Emjay Posted Jan 7, 2015, 10:03 am |
And we also went to France to do Christmas shopping. |
Emjay Posted Jan 7, 2015, 10:52 am |
And now it's: Happy New Year, mum! This is the traditional salad Emjay made on December 31 to celebrate the new year.
I'll keep in touch! Bye mum! your -Scoop- |

Hi mum!
We were for a quick visit in Rotterdam today. |
Emjay Posted Jan 17, 2015, 7:17 pm |
After we got home, we had a surprise: an envelope arrived from the UK. Do we have a visitor? |
Emjay Posted Jan 17, 2015, 7:18 pm |
Ah, it's a bear! He says his name is Gozer. (That means dude, by the way) |
Emjay Posted Jan 17, 2015, 7:23 pm |

That's my update for today, mum. Bye! your -Scoop- |
Emjay Posted Jan 19, 2015, 10:41 am |
Hi mum,
Today my dear friend Kevin Kiwi went home. After all his traveling, he felt a little homesick. We said goodbye to him with all TV's. I will miss the little kiwibird! |
Emjay Posted Jan 19, 2015, 10:44 am |
After Kevin was gone, we had a little Kiwi party and told stories about the adventures we had with Kevin.
Bye, mum! Your -Scoop- |
Emjay Posted Jan 21, 2015, 12:02 pm |
Hi mum,
I feel my stay in Delft is coming to an end... So in my last week I'm exploring my surroundings. This is a small park near Emjay's house. I stop at the ToyVoyager church to say a little pray for my next trip. I hope it will be spring soon. |
Emjay Posted Jan 21, 2015, 12:05 pm |
We welcomed a new TV today. Look at those colourful stamps! First a lot of sweets poured out and then a cute monkey. Her name is Suny. We gave her a warm hug. |
Emjay Posted Jan 21, 2015, 12:08 pm |
Look, this is Emjay's small pelican collection. She used to collect pelican items when she lived at Pelican Alley. |
Emjay Posted Jan 23, 2015, 5:49 pm |
Hi mum!
Hollandia and me showed our new friend Suny around in Delft. It was a very cold day, so we didn't stay out long. |
Emjay Posted Jan 25, 2015, 10:58 am |
Well, mum, I've said goodbye to Delft and today I'm saying goodbye to my friends. I'm invited by Jasper to come to Switzerland! It seems a beautiful place where I'll be staying. Maybe I can visit a mountain range! |
Emjay Posted Jan 25, 2015, 11:02 am |
My friends threw me a farewell party. We're eating tum-tums, until our stomachs are full. Bye, friends! Maybe we'll meet again in some other part of the world!
And bye to you too, mum! You'll see me again in Switzerland! Your -Scoop- |
Jasper Posted Feb 1, 2015, 7:05 am |
Hi mommy
I arrived in Switzerland. Only a short time I had to wait in the mailbox, then my envelope was taken out and moved to a warmer place. When it was opened, two funny faces looked towards me. "Hi, I'm scoop, the pelican" I whispered a bit shy and handed a piece of candy. Cherry Lola (Emjay has already told me of her) and Twixx greeted me warmly. With bold heart and the rest of my gifts I climbed out of my jacket. As Twixx saw the postcard from Gouda, he laughed: "He brings cheese to Switzerland!" We divided the sweets and had much to tell. Especially Cherry Lola, which has been long time a dear guest of Emjay wanted to know everything. These are my new friends - we will definitely have a lot of fun. That's it for today. Love you. Scoop |
Jasper Posted Feb 1, 2015, 7:26 am |
Hi mommy,
after getting up - I slept very long and very good - I looked around a bit. It's Spring? Everywhere beautiful flowers. No Spring - Jasper's birthday. Doesn't this flower look like a seahorse? I "sang" a song and congratulated. Now I look forward to a lot of cake. Kisses Scoop |
Jasper Posted Feb 1, 2015, 7:50 am |
Grüezi (this means hello in Swiss German)
this morning I looked out the window and saw - Snow! On the balcony I played a bit in the snow, but quickly it was too cold for me. Warm clothing is needed. I rummaged in the TV wardrobe and found some. Hopefully something suitable for me is in it. See you Scoop |
Jasper Posted Feb 8, 2015, 1:40 pm |
Hi mom,
since I arrived: snowfall. No chance to go out. love Scoop |
Jasper Posted Feb 9, 2015, 1:39 pm |
Hi mommy,
another farewell. Imagine Cherry Lola travels to Beijing. After China, it must be a long way. We threw her a farewell - gummy bears party. Wistful and funny moments alternated. Laughter when we bet who can balance the best gummy bears on the nose. I won - no wonder, with my nose. Tears as we said goodbye. My little friend - I wish you a good trip. Maybe we'll meet again. Bye mommy - love you Scoop |
Jasper Posted Feb 12, 2015, 4:52 pm |
Hello mom
Today we had beautiful weather and Jasper had to work. So I took advantage of an open window and flew out. I wanted to play in the snow. A hard landing in a bush in front of the house. (my wings are a little out of practice.) But I had fun. I rolled and pecked in the snow. After a short time I felt dreadfully cold and snow beard grew on my beak. Thank God Jasper found me and brought me into the warmth. Greetings Scoop |
Jasper Posted Feb 12, 2015, 5:12 pm |
Hey mom,
don't worry. I'm not a prisoner here. It's more to keep the cat out, than me in. He grabbed me twice and Jasper panicked. Kisses from your free and saftey feeling Scoop |
Jasper Posted Feb 14, 2015, 1:35 pm |
Hi mom
Today Jasper had to buy food. She hates it. Therefore, we first stormed through the shopping center and relaxed after by taking a walk. This is the monastery "Mary of the Angels" By 2010, even 7 Capuchin Sisters lived in the monastery. They cared for the fire emergency for 3 communities. Since 2012, the "Facenda da Esperanca" is located in the former convent. This is a residential community for young people in difficult situation - usually addiction problems. To rest on a bench was not easy - you got a cold butt. I saw mysterious footprints in the snow - too small for a Yeti. I tried myself to leave traces, unfortunately I am too lightly. We walked on and came to a mini golf course. Might be difficult to find the hole. Back at home, I could see the Thur valley. There we will walk when it is no longer so icy. See you Scoop |

Hello
Today we received a parcel. Jasper was at work and we were curious. Without hesitation I pecked a hole. We carefully looked inside. Maybe a new guest? A small moose looked at us - no new guest but Jasper's long lost TV "Yuma". After a long odyssey he has found the way home. The joy was enormous. Scoop |

Hi Mommy
Yesterday we took an early train and visited Interlaken. Interlaken is a town and municipality in the Interlaken-Oberhasli administrative district in the Swiss canton of Bern. It is an important and well-known tourist destination in the Bernese Oberland region of the Swiss Alps, and the main transport gateway to the mountains and lakes of that region. The town is located on the Bödeli, between Lake Thun and Lake Brienz, and alongside the Aare river that flows between the two lakes. We had planned to visit the Jungfraujoch. But the nasty weather made us a spanner in the works. I was a bit disappointed - I could have fulfilled one of my Life Mission. Jasper promised, we will try it again as soon as possible. So we decided to go to brunch at Hotel Victoria-Jungfrau. The Victoria-Jungfrau Grand Hotel & Spa is a five star hotel in Interlaken, which is part of the Leading Hotels of the World. A special feature of this listed building is the unobstructed views of the Jungfrau massif. (Phh, no chance to see the mountains in this weather.) The entrepreneur Eduard Ruchti acquired in 1856, Pension Victoria, a former doctor's house. In 1864 he gave the architects Jakob Friedrich Studer and Horace Edouard Davinet the contract to build a new building, wich was opened in 1865 after nine months of construction. 1895 Ruchti transformed his private company into a limited company. These acquired the neighboring Hotel Jungfrau in the same year. 1899 both buildings were connected by a central building, which is crowned by a dome; In this way, the Hotel Victoria-Jungfrau was born. What an impressive hotel. In the bar we drank coffee and tea. And then - let's have brunch. Jasper could not shoot as fast as I devoured the delicacies. It took me all of my British politeness and restraint in order not to storm the buffet. The chocolate fountain then made me completely crazy. I tried to fly into it. Jasper could stop me at the last moment. To cool we even watched some skaters. The way home, I slept in Jasper's pocket. And dreamed of mountains and chocolate. Sweet Greetings Scoop |

Hey mom,
Today Jasper grabbed me, pulled my scarf and hat on and got the warm shoes out of the closet. Looks like a trip. By car, it was only half an hour to the Schwägalp, a pass 1300 meters above sea level. Sun, snow and mountains. Surprise, surprise - we boarded the cable car and drove to the Santis. At 2,502.9 metres above sea level, Säntis is the highest mountain in the Alpstein massif of northeastern Switzerland. It is also the culminating point of the whole Appenzell Alps, between Lake Walenstadt and Lake Constance. Shared by three cantons, the mountain is a highly visible landmark thanks to its exposed northerly position within the Alpstein massif. Uuuhh First, we visited an exhibition: 80 years Santis cable car. So funny, the old times. The panorama from the summit is spectacular. Six countries can be seen if the weather allows: Switzerland, Germany, Austria, Liechtenstein, France, and Italy. Ooh, the weather allows. The exposed position of Säntis results in weather conditions normally observed in the high Alps. For example in April 1999, just beneath the summit on the northern snowfield of the mountain, a snow height of 816 cm (321 in) was recorded. The old mountain inn. At the moment it is closed. Because of the snow you can not reach it. They promise you can see 1001 summit. I think there are more. Last steps to the peak. The old weather station on the summit. The International Meteorological Congress of Rome in 1879 declared it as a necessity to build weather stations on adequate and accessible summits. Therefore, the Swiss built a weather station on Säntis. The position of the northern ridge proved to be ideal for such an endeavour. The weather station was commissioned in autumn of 1882. Located at the peak of the Säntis is a 123.55 meter high transmission tower, which was commissioned in November 1997. The original tower stemming from the year 1955 had to be renovated several times due to the rough weather conditions before finally being replaced. The antenna of the new transmission tower got a fibre-glass enforced plastic layer on the outside in order to prevent ice falling onto the visitors' terrace. It falls nonetheless. Then I saw this: Santis murder. The so-called Säntismord (English: Säntismurder) happened in the winter of 1922. It refers to a crime in which the weather station keeper and his wife were murdered. The murder was only discovered because of missing weather reports on 21 February. As a result of the missing reports, a search party was sent to Säntis, where they discovered the bodies. The prime suspect was shoemaker Gregor Anton Kreuzpointer, who committed suicide three weeks after the murder. The truth about this double murder hence remains unclear to this day. Another killer: A golden eagle, captured a marmot Thank God it's a piece of exhibition .. Then we visited a exibition about minerals. Fascinating structures. This one I liked most. When I saw that, I could not believe it. The Schwägalp at the foot of Santis was millions of years before - ocean floor. The white circles on the stones are cross sections of sea urchins. If you look closely, you can discover on a stone left over my head the pattern of a starfish. Then I needed a break. A cream roll and a Latte Macchiato were just right. On this ridge we discovered traces of chamois or ibex. But, unfortunately, only the tracks. Before we began the way home, I enjoyed again the view. There was an advantage if you have good eyes. The telescope was unusable. I had such a great day. Hope you enjoy the pictures. yours Scoop |

Hello everybody
Today I visited St. Gallen. St. Gallen (St.Gall) is the capital of the canton of St. Gallen in Switzerland. It evolved from the hermitage of Saint Gall, founded in the 7th century. Today, it is a large urban agglomeration (with around 160,000 inhabitants) and represents the center of eastern Switzerland. The main tourist attraction is the Abbey of Saint Gall, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Its renowned library contains books which date back to the 9th century. The founding of St. Gallen is attributed to the Irish monk Gallus (ca 550620 or 640), who built a hermitage by the river Steinach in 612 AD. This is the Town Hall - located next to the train station. From there we walked to the "City Lounge" or as people call it - Red Square. Around the new building of Raiffeisen Bank, the outer region has been redesigned of two artists. The lounge is a kind of public living room. I thought for a long time on the pending eggs. Now I know - these are just lights. Through the old town with its beautiful half-timbered houses, we arrived at the Cathedral Square. The whole abbey precinct was included in the list of UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1983. The monastery courtyard, the Cathedral, the entrance to the episcopal ordinariate. The door to the Gallus chapel. In this house the Abbey Library is housed. The Abbey Library of Saint Gall was founded by Saint Othmar, the founder of the Abbey of St. Gall. The library collection is the oldest in Switzerland, and is one of earliest and most important monastic libraries in the world. It holds 2,100 manuscripts dating back to the 8th through the 15th centuries, 1,650 incunabula (printed before 1500), and old printed books. The library holds almost 160,000 volumes. The manuscript B of the Nibelungenlied is kept here. The library books are available for public use, but the books printed before 1900 must be read in the Reading Room. Taking pics is stricktly prohibidet. One of over a hundred bay windows in the old town. The colorful roof of the church St.Laurenz. Here you can see the remains of the old monastery wall. Small houses - and large hotels. It's named what it looks like - Schlösschen (Castle). St.Gallen streets on Sunday afternoon - extinct. On the way home we still passed the city park. Jasper bought us a pretzel with pumpkin seeds to strengthen. Hope you like my sunday trip. Scoop |

Hey mom,
Today I made a trip with Jasper to the river Thur. Spring has not yet really arrived. But I still saw popular things and places. A Bee House - I was a bit cautious. I bathed in wild garlic and smelled accordingly. The bridge of the ring road. Romantic places and strange plants. Huge roots of trees, clinging to the rock. This cliff was uncanny to me. I flew to a tree to look at a fungus. Was sitting in soft moss and enjoyed the sun and the view. Love you Scoop |

today was something very special. A solar eclipse - well, a partial eclipse. We all wanted to watch Unfortunately, Jasper could not get goggles. All sold out. So we looked at the spectacle on the computer. Not really the same but still very impressive. We saw the smile of the sun. Have a nice weekend Scoop |

Hello
overnight winter has come back. Snow and cold wind made us stay at home. We decided to play cards. For an international group like us poker was the most obvious. Of course, we did not play for money. Sweets are worth more than money for a Toyvoyager. Unfortunately I did not have the best cards. I hope the winner will share with me. Until next time Scoop |

Hello Mom
Yesterday we took a walk along our river Thur and looked at the waterfall. The waterfall itself is not very big and not very spectacular. But the way ... Looks like jungle. We followed narrow, very narrow paths (the path is good, but there is a risk of falling beside it). We squeezed through narrow gorges and crawled through under huge boulders. Then follows a long jump (via the effluent water) and there it was, the little waterfall. We were amazed that such a small waterfall can wash out such a large pool. Jasper told us, waterfall and Thur are unpredictable. Normally, everything looks very romantic. But two days heavy rain, and every path and every place you see here is several meters under water. We followed the river, running through fields of wild garlic, played with stones and sat on roots or in the warm sand. Several times we were happy to sit in Jaspers pocket. She had to overcome dangerous places and we were chattering in the bag with our teeth. But Toyvoyager are adventurers and we spent a exciting afternoon. Bye for now Scoop |
