So we had a nice day, but we also look forward to our next 14 days, because we will fly to tenerife...and I am sooo upset ...hope I can find sleep this night... |

Today we had to start very early in the morning, because we make our first big trip: We make holiday on tenerife, one of the canary islands.
And altough we were very upset, Lotte and me werde so tired at 4:00 o`clock in the morning, when we had to leave. |
Strunki strunki1259@web.de Posted Jan 23, 2013, 10:10 pm |

Strunki strunki1259@web.de Posted Jan 23, 2013, 10:13 pm |
At the airport: What a wonderful and lightfully world...
And look: there is the plane that brings us to tenerife... |

Strunki strunki1259@web.de Posted Jan 23, 2013, 10:38 pm |
Before crossing the Biscaya the friendly stewardesses offered us a delicous breakfast...
...But I had a little bit too much....And I was glad of having this paperbag.... |
Strunki strunki1259@web.de Posted Jan 23, 2013, 10:44 pm |

Strunki strunki1259@web.de Posted Jan 23, 2013, 10:57 pm |
But no worry, Lotte and me recreated very fast when we saw the very first views of tenerife with spains highest mountain, El Pico del Teide.
And we had the first impressions from the south of this canary island |

Today we went to my first visit of a Botanical Garden. Lotte wanted to see how banana plant grow and I promised myself finding an outdoor growing plumeria with blooming flowers. And, of course, we wanted to see other plants they nurse there.
The first famous canarian plant is the drago, followed by bananas, strelitzias and other colourful and beautyful flowers. |
Strunki strunki1259@web.de Posted Jan 24, 2013, 11:43 pm |
We saw lots of wonderful plants growing there. |
Strunki strunki1259@web.de Posted Jan 24, 2013, 11:54 pm |
The next highlight in Orotava was the terrace garden next to th botanical garden. We saw cascades and the view to the sea is more than beautiful from there.
Lotte felt like a spanish senorita, she loved the setting and dreamed of living in a spanish palace |
Strunki strunki1259@web.de Posted Jan 25, 2013, 7:48 pm |
Today we visited the National Park oft Spains highest Mountain, th Pico del Teide. After the breakfast Lotte and me saw, that the view from Puerto de la Cruz up to it was free without any clouds.
But the higher we drove, the more clouds came. In an altidude of about 1.000 m we were above the clouds an the sun was shining very well. Only the temperature of ca. 8°C reminded us, that wer are in an very high altitude. Oops, I forgot to mention the sheep we met :-) And Lotte found some "devices" of her "collegues"...there must be a lot of rabbits, but they were to shy, unfortunately, we did not meet any of them... |
Strunki strunki1259@web.de Posted Jan 25, 2013, 8:23 pm |
When we saw enough of the Teide, we went backwards and took the way to La Esperanza.
On the way down we passed a very interesting geological place called "the Cake", because you can see different rock layers in various colours. Lotte was so glad to see this place that she gave me a very big kiss |
Strunki strunki1259@web.de Posted Jan 25, 2013, 8:38 pm |
At a litte mirador in El Sauzal we found my first outside living franginani, but unfortenatuly it did not have any flowers at all
I was a little bit dissapointed but Lotte comforted me in my grief and showed me wonderful orange an yellow blossoms of a plant calles "black susan" At the end we sat under a huge blueweed and my grief went away: Next day, next chance to find a blooming plumeria |
Strunki strunki1259@web.de Posted Jan 26, 2013, 10:40 pm |
Tody we had our first day "on the beach", because it was warm and sunny enough to take a sunbath Lotte and me liked chilling in the sun, so we took only two pictures there...
The place was sooo lovely and lonely enough to take all our clothes out... Before we arrived we visited the skeleton of a whale that stranded there a few years ago. A very huge whale, wooow |

Strunki strunki1259@web.de Posted Jan 28, 2013, 8:18 pm |
Yesterday I was not able to refresh my tl, because we were too tired after coming back into the hotel.
So we started yesterday at Mirador Humboldt, named by the famous german scientist who visited Tenerife before he went to south america exploring the orinoco. The legend says, that at this point he discovered the different steps of growing zones and the legend tells as well, that he felt in his knees when he reached this point and saw the magnificent view of the orotava valley... |
Strunki strunki1259@web.de Posted Jan 28, 2013, 8:32 pm |
After our visit at the mirador, we went on to our first "real beach" with white sand at Las Teresitas. There I was able to surf a little bit. Lotte did not want to come near to the water, hihi, she´s a little bit water-shy ...
After my surfing tour I was a little bit wet but very happy and when the sun disappeared, we went back to the hotel. |
Strunki strunki1259@web.de Posted Jan 29, 2013, 10:19 pm |
Yesterday we went to a place called "El Monasterio" where we drank Coffee and climbed in an fig tree. A few of the figs were ready to take and they were very sweet
Before we walked on the hill, an old volcano crater, where a small ermita was built. |
Strunki strunki1259@web.de Posted Jan 29, 2013, 10:35 pm |
Today we drove to the North-Eastern Point of Tenerife, Punta del Hidalgo.
There we went to the coast, the mountains of Anaga behind us. It was very very sunny so we decided to spend the day between the stones and took a sunbath. In the afternoon we had our Coffee at the lovely Café Melita at Bajamar, whre you can have the best Tarta de Manzana (Apple Pie) of the whole Canaries In the Evening Lotte moaned, because she has a sunburn |
Strunki strunki1259@web.de Posted Jan 30, 2013, 9:55 pm |
Today we made a large tour to the northwestern part of tenerife.
We started first at mirador El Lance, where we saw the valey of orotava from the western side. Lotte was more interested in the bronce statue... After passing the mirador we made a hike through some banana plantations where Lotte found her absolute dream finca Unfortenatuly I did not have enough money with me to buy it...but near the path we found lovely blossoms.... |
Strunki strunki1259@web.de Posted Jan 30, 2013, 10:08 pm |
Our next stop was Garachico, a very lovely village that was destroyed by a eruption of a volcano in the 18 th century but the canrians rebuilt it near the old village. We went to some natural seawater bassins and there I was able to dive a little bit |
Strunki strunki1259@web.de Posted Jan 31, 2013, 8:47 pm |
Today was a half disappointing day: First we wanted to go swimming at Puerto de Santiago, but there was no acess to the beaches or the seawater pools. Only the view to Los Gigants was very nice. So we went away very sweat, because it was very hot, but I had not any opportunity to fresh up in the seawater Lotte did not like to shuffle along between the buildings...
But we found a good replacement on the way back when we discovered the blooming almond trees near the street to santiago de teide. |
Strunki strunki1259@web.de Posted Feb 1, 2013, 9:49 pm |
Today we went to the beautiful beach in the west of Puerto de La Cruz: To Playa Jardin. There we tested our newest achievements: 3 brand-new boats customed for Lotte and me by strunkis husband. Yesterday he found excellent goods at the beach of Playa Sibora and worked hard to create boats for uns. Thank you very much
We were so pleased about our newest boats, that we spent the whole day at the beach and had a lot of fun. At Midday we met an interesting dragon: A huge lizard, but he was very very shy with us. In the afternoon we went back to the beach for surfing. I had a little Surf-accident and Lotte was not amused...but don´t worry, nothing badly happend to me What a wonderful day in paradise |
Strunki strunki1259@web.de Posted Feb 2, 2013, 9:15 pm |

Today was a great day: We went to Loro Parque, the famous Parrot Park whre we saw not only kakatoos, keas and other birds but also the biggest ice hall for penguins and wonderful shows with sea lions, dolphins and orcas.
And: I was able to fulfill my first life mission: We found a blooming plumeria tree and I was able to smell the wonderful fragrance of the blossoms |
Strunki strunki1259@web.de Posted Feb 5, 2013, 7:44 pm |
We went to the south, the pilgrims village of Candelaria. Its a small town, but they have a huge Basilica there, where they hold a statue of a black madonna. A legend says, that she was found there on the beach and the people of Tenerife admire her very much. But we didn´t go into the church, because we were more interested in the huge statues of the ancient "kings" of tenerife, the so called Menceys of the Guanches, the blond people who stayed on the canary islands before the spanish conquistadores
came... The waves were very high on this day... |
Strunki strunki1259@web.de Posted Feb 5, 2013, 10:41 pm |
We had a very nice meeting with two sharks and a young orca who want to leave loro parque and join our troop. They want to follow us to germany for staying at our sides
A very funny member of the loro parque, the orca-beetle came up to our hotel to wave goodbye to the three new members of our "band" |
Strunki strunki1259@web.de Posted Feb 7, 2013, 11:36 am |
Today was a special place to visit: Güinmar
In ancient times the guanches built step-pyramides there, for a long time nobody did mention them and only a few decades ago the people were re-interested in them, after the norwegian Thor Heyerdahl studied them and was so keen of their existence. For him oceans were not negotiable but a kind of transporting belts and a lot more cultural exchange happened in the past as we belive... At Güinmar we learned a lot more about the canarian culture before the spains conquested them, but also we saw, how the canarians lived there a hundred years ago |
Strunki strunki1259@web.de Posted Feb 7, 2013, 12:03 pm |
Today we are a little sad, because it is our last full day on tenerife.
We spent it on the Playa San Marcos, "the beach" of Icod. But unfortunately the weather was not as hot as the days before and so we only sat there and dreamed to come back in the next year... |
Strunki strunki1259@web.de Posted Feb 7, 2013, 1:05 pm |
At home again...
When we left Remscheid two weeks ago, it was cold and snowy. And... nothing changed, the snow went back, our friends told us.. O.K., let us see how is the garden outside and how are the plants in the warm-house? Our red bananas seem to be ok and the little drago tree as well. It hatched about 10 years ago out of a grain and perhaps, in the future, we can nurse him a little bit longer and bring him back to the canaries? And look at our chilis, how they grow up and become larger and red But what in the world does lotte do??? Oh no...she has a new addiction...sweet sugared condensated milk, the same she always wanted to have in her coffee at tenerife... |
Strunki strunki1259@web.de Posted Feb 10, 2013, 7:52 pm |
The very first in the morning I was very happy: One of the Epiphyllums named "Frühlingsrausch", a plant of strunkis husband, was blooming and I like their colour very much.
After this, in the late afternoon, I was not able to find Lotte...only the empty sugared milkbottle was left and she dissappered...Oh Lotte, where are you??...I miss you soooo much.... |

But later, in the Chinese House, there was a big surprise and a real happy end waiting for uns all. And at all, we found snowbells I am glad and happy that Lotte is safe |

Even Lotte, this longsleeper, comes to give me some little things for frodo on my journey and to wave me a good bye. Even some small balloons, but she realized, that the are too big for my travelling bag, when they are filled with air She tried not to moan, but I know that she will miss me very much. Today is Easter Monday and we took the chance to spent the day out because the weather is a little bit better than the days before.
We went to Leverkusen at the Rhine and there in the sun it was very beautiful. In the japanese garden we found a lot of colorful early spring flowers. Matcha felt reminded at home a little bit |
Strunki strunki1259@web.de Posted Apr 7, 2013, 7:29 am |
For our second stop we drove to the rhine and played at the bank of the rhine. From there we made a short footwalk to Schloss Benrath, where Charlotte immediately wanted to have the telephone-number of the estate-agent, because she thought this little palais would be a fine domicile for her weekends
And even for me the pond was long enough to do water-skiing on it |
Strunki strunki1259@web.de Posted Apr 7, 2013, 7:38 am |
Today we gave fare well to Soeren, the handsome elk and the good bye was not as easy as it seemed to be, because we all know that we will miss his nice and funny kind and mostly his sight with his incredible eyes.
But we are happy with him that he has the chance now to travel to Denmark to spend a good time. Bye bye Soeren, perhaps we all meet again |

Charlotte and me raked the leafs from the last year and we cut some bushes. I pulled up weeds and we planted a small new flowerplant from the warmhouse in the earth outside. After doing so much work we recreated and drank some applejuice when I watnted to test if my new bucket for the garden is also ready for bopping up and down on the pond And...it was, I had so much fun sitting in the bucket |

Today it is my birthday, but I decided not to celebrate this in a big manner like Charlotte wanted to do. She wanted to give a big party, but that´s not mine. On days like these I am better on my own and I decided to spend the day as a philosopher on a thermos bottle and contemplate a little bit
My first result of contemplation: With being a pig I want to bring more humanity to the world |

I could´t belive it: I got a tractor to pull a loading wagon. I don´t know from whom, but I would bet it was Charlotte together with Strunki, perhaps Lille was also involved in
Our first trip leads into the garden where we harvested some first bear leak (Allium ursinum) to create a fresh salad from. It only grows a few weeks in springtime and if you want to have some, you have to hurry with harvesting Uiuiuiuiui...I like driving my new tractor Between finish working and the dinner I had some fun together with Lille on the pond in the new garden buckets |

Today we visited the botanical garden in Solingen. It is a very small park but the citizens of Solingen like their garden very much, it is a popular place for them.
A few years ago the Botanical garden was endagered to close because the Town Council did not have enough money to finance the park. But very active citizens raised the foundation of supporters of the botanical garden and do a lot of free work and sponsore that the garden can be still open. In the warm season you can eat selfmade cake an drink some cups of coffee they sell there to finance the park. And a some weekends thei organize some nice events around the garden and to wake the interest and the conciousness of the people for the botanical garden. It is so important to have a nice place like this. |

There we visited the warmhouse factory Krieger. At this weekend they have organised a nice Plant- and Garden-Day and Charlotte, Lille and me had lot of fun meeting the very handsome and friendly musician Konstantin who played beautiful music on his accordion He carried me around the place and played during our little footwalk around the area. And we met very nice members of the http://www.bonsai-club-hagen.de who allowed us sitting under their beautiful small and very old trees. |

Today my journey to RikeH will start. I am soo happy and upset to meet Dicker Kumpel and Kleine Fee and many other nice plushies
Very early in the morning Lotte and Lille gave me a nice farewell, some bathing-things for my new host, and, of course, some chocolate Good bye my dearest Lotte, good bye sweet little Lille, and welcome PinkiHH, I hope we will meet in Sülfeld very fast |

Hello Mum, Lotte and Lille,
I arrived at Dicker Kumpel's home. It was great to see him. He invited me on his blue armchair and introduced me to his other guests and Kleine Fee. I showed all the things I brought with me. Can you see who was with me? PinkyHH - she is such a lovely lady. She asked a lot about you and is so excited to visit you soon. Well - no time to write more at the moment - I have to talk a lot with my new friends here. Love Helmut |

Hello Mum,
We visited a small city near to Sülfeld today – it is called Bargteheide. I started next to a nice lake. This was funny – a big old water pump. This sign was really interesting. The rainwater take two directions here – the rain from one side of the street flows in two rivers to the Baltic Sea. And the rain on the other side flows to the North Sea in two other rivers. My last stop was next to another nice lake. We planned to visit the church, but it started to rain – so we drove home. Love Helmut |
RikeH Posted May 15, 2013, 8:59 pm |
Hello Mum,
We bought nice flowers in Bargteheide. Today I spent some time in the garden and had a look at the new flowers there. I loved these! But these flowers were beautiful, too. I liked the color of these plants. I thought about picking some of the flowers for you and Charlotte, but decided not to do it. This is the place where Dicker Kumpel grows his vegetables. We already talked a lot about gardening. Hopefully you and Charlotte will be able to do all the work in our garden without my help! I talked a lot with this funny guy – he got a new plant, too. Maybe we could have such a swing at home, too? Many greetings Helmut |

Hello Mum,
Yesterday we went to the church St. Michaelis. We went there by bus. The church is called Michel and it is one of Hamburg's five Lutheran main churches and the most famous church in the city. St. Michaelis is a landmark of the city. We decided to go inside. It was beautiful. Look – the big organ. I love the interior. What a nice white church. Outside I saw this big bell. Behind me you can see the townhall of Hamburg. We went back home by train. I saw that PinkyHH arrived at your home. It was nice to see that you all were happy to meet her. Love Helmut |

Hello Mum,
It was an awful weekend. We had so many plans – and then we had rain all the time. Maybe it was a bad idea to travel to the North of Germany. The only nice thing of the weekend was the meal on Monday. I got some delicious self-made Sushi. Maybe I will try to learn how to create it? But it is much nicer to sit here with my friends and have a nice meal together. Yours Helmut PS : The green thing called Wasabi was so hot!!! |

Hello Mum, hello Charlotte,
I decided to look what RikeH is doing, when she is not at home. So I went to a place called work. It seems to be important to know the correct date here. I talked to some friendly guys. The view out of the window was not amazing – I think I will stay on Dicker Kumpel's blue armchair instead of going to work. This weekend will be great – Dicker Kumpel's best friend Murph will come and visit us. Yours Helmut |
RikeH Posted May 28, 2013, 4:51 pm |
Hi Mum,
Today Murph and GustavHH came and visited Dicker Kumpel and us. When we arrived in the living room BineHH, PieksiHH and TobiHH sat on the table and told us that they had a surprise for all of us. Of course we went into the room – we love surprises. They had drinks, muffins and more delicious things to eat for all of us. A party – this is great! I found a great place between Pepita and TobiHH. Pepita is a nice girl, but not as nice as my beloved Charlotte. Cheers! Then it was time to eat. I had a wonderful muffin and a burger – unfortunately the photo was a little blurry – but I think that you can see me. Later this evening we all had fun and sang wonderful ToyVoyager-songs. I sat next to Murph and GustavHH – both are so funny guys! It was a wonderful evening! Yours Helmut |

Hello Mum,
Today we took a walk around Sülfeld. First we stopped at an old channel. The weather was better than it looked on the photos. I liked this small lake in the middle of the village. Behind me you can see the old school of Sülfeld. Here is the emblem of Sülfeld. The church of Sülfeld is beautiful – but it seems to be renovated at the moment. On the other side of the street is the pharmacy. Love to all of you at home! Helmut |

Hello Mum,
We were on our way into the South. We took the ICE- a very fast German train. Look – our speed was 199 km/h at this moment. Later we drove 250 km/h. This was great. I looked out of the window – the weather was not so nice in most parts of Germany. And there were many tunnels on our way. We will spend some days in Bavaria. I will write more soon. Love Helmut |

Hello Mum,
We visited the town Amberg today. It was raining – but it was raining for a long time in this part of Germany. There are heavy floods at the moment. This was a nice place – I think the market place. Look – can you see the high water – normally there is only a small river. This is a famous building in the city. I went nearer and it was really beautiful. Love Helmut |

Hi Mum, hi Charlotte,
Today we drove around Neumarkt. The first stop was a nice church with an interesting cemetery in Pilsach-Dietkirchen. All graves have wrought-iron crosses and roses. Unfortunately we were too early for the roses, but I liked the beautiful crosses. The interior of the church was nice, too. Later we went to the ruin called Wolfstein. It was so big and high on a hill. I saw Neumarkt fom there. We played on the pillory. But of course I know that it was a serious place in the Past. You can see me together with Gozer, we have a great time together here. I loved this ruin! Tomorrow we will drive to Switzerland. Keep your fingers crossed that we will have a safe trip. Some trains were already cancelled because of the heavy floods here in Southern Germany. Yours Helmut |
RikeH Posted Jun 5, 2013, 8:57 pm |
Hello Mum,
Good luck for all of us. The trains to Austria were cancelled, but we were able to drive to Chur in Switzerland. We were happy and decided to enjoy the trip without photos. But then we passed this Lake. Surely you don't know the name up to now. We all sat together, because we wanted to see the sign together. Maybe you can see it – on the sign is the name Lindau. We passed the Lake Constance. Yours Helmut |

Hello Mum,
Switzerland welcomed us with sunny weather. We took a train called Bernina-Express today. We learnt a lot about it in this little brochure. It is a Unesco World Heritage running along 122 kms of track, passing through 55 tunnels and over 196 bridges and viaducts. We had a look at the map. We found a great and sunny place then we started. I met a friendly capricorn in the train. There were nice mountains with snow outside. RikeH tried to take single photos of all of us, but the train was too fast – and it was impossible to get nice photos for all of us – so we decided to sit together and have photos together. RikeH apologises for it. Can you see the viaduct behind us? Look – wonderful green meadows. We came into the mountains. Later we found out that it would be better to look out of the window, and not laughing into the camera all time, so we moved and looked out of the window. We drove about his viaduct, too. Next to the street – and our train - was a big river. We saw the head of the train before us. I love Switzerland. Look – I was in one of the tunnels – it was the longest on our trip – called Albulatunnel. It is almost 6000 m long – on a height of more than 1800 m above sea level. Sometimes the street was next to us. Then we came to the highest part of the trip. Ospizio Bernina is more than 2253 m high. This lake was so beautiful. Another view of the front part of the train. We went lower - and saw more green again. Later we went near to the border to Italy. But this was still in Switzerland. And here you see the circular viaduct of Brusio. It describes a 360-degree curve. Soon I will tell you about a visit in Italy. Love |
RikeH Posted Jun 7, 2013, 8:32 pm |
Hello Mum,
As you know we took the Bernina Express. It stopped in Tirano in Italy. We had only 1,5 hours, but saw a lot of nice buildings. I started next to the fountain on a nice place. Some nice flowers for you and Charlotte. Some days ago we were in Germany – and there weren't blooming roses. I liked the house with the beautiful balcony. And there was a nice church. Tirano has nice buildings. And some parts with older houses. I like most this old tower. There was a river in the city. Then it was time to drive back to Chur, where we started. Behind me you see our train. It was time for our meal. Then it was time for looking out of the window. A viaduct again. And we saw snow. It was a great day – in the hotel we were tired, Good night, Mum! Yours Helmut |
RikeH Posted Jun 8, 2013, 3:02 pm |
Hello Mum,
Today I explored the town Chur. Chur is the oldest city of Switzerland. It was nice and sunny weather. I started in front of the town hall. This beautiful church is called church of St. Martin. This is the gate to the episcopal Castle. The cathedral of Chur. I had great views over the city. There was a nice place called Arcas. Another gate – it is called Obertor. I relaxed in a nice garden. At home it was time for a cake. I shared mine with Manganinnie and Pepita. The others had a tart with carrots. It was so yummy! Later that evening we heart some music and went out. Look – this was our very nice hotel. Yours Helmut |
RikeH Posted Jun 8, 2013, 6:11 pm |
Hello Mum,
Surely you remember our trip in the Bernina-Express. Today we took another train – called Glacier Express. Like the last time we read our little brochure. It looked interesting, too. It was a nice train. I like the mountains with snow on the top. We drove high again and saw a lot of snow. The landscape changed during our trip. It was great – we had our headphones and learnt interesting facts about Switzerland. We passed many small villages. This was a deep gorge. We had to use a rack railway, because it was so steep. We arrived in Zermatt in the late afternoon and hopefully will have a great time here. Yours Helmut |
RikeH Posted Jun 12, 2013, 7:28 pm |
Hello Mum,
We were in Zermatt – and had a room with a nice balcony. We sat in the sunshine and talked. What a wonderful view! First we thought about climbing up that hill – but it was time to relax. Later RikeH came and told us that we will drive with a nice train to a place called Gornergrat. Good luck for me – I found a place next to the driver of the train. We went higher – and there was snow again. Then we were at Gornergrat – and saw the Matterhorn – maybe the most famous mountain of Switzerland. We all wanted to have a group photo in the snow. I wanted to have one more with snow AND the Matterhorn. There were other beautiful mountains next to it. This was the view to another direction – amazing! There was a small chapel on the mountain. I sat next to it. Look – this was the train – called Gornergratbahn. On our way back to Zermatt we all sat in the bag of RikeH and had a lot of fun together. But at the end I had to jump out of the bag – because I LOVE this mountain… What a wonderful trip. Yours Helmut |
RikeH Posted Jun 16, 2013, 10:13 am |
Hello Mum and Charlotte,
When we came back from the Gornergrat, we took a walk through the village Zermatt. We started in the old part. There were many old houses. Behind me you can see how they were built. The funny construction with stones and wood should help against mice. I met a Capricorn – normally they live in the mountains, but this one prefers living in the village. And we had fun with this group of marmots. This is the church of Zermatt. What a nice day! Yours Helmut |

Hello Mum and Charlotte,
It was time for another mountain. Today we took three cable cars and went onto the Kleine Matterhorn. The trip was really interesting. I had a great view back into the valley. Then we were on the Top of the mountain. Next to it was another nice mountain called Breithorn. I loved it here. Behind me you can see the Matterhorn again. We were happy to see it, because only one hour later it was behind the fog or the cloud. It was amazing to sit at this height. Look – I was about 3883 meters or 12739 feet above sea level. Before we went back to Zermatt we visited the glacier paradise A place where I learnt a lot about glaciers – and saw nice ice sculptures. The ice crystals were amazing. And this was one of the best moments of the holiday – I climbed the Matterhorn. Can you see me on the photo? Love Helmut |

Hello Mum,
After seeing so many mountains, it was time for a change. We drove to Luzern, a city next to the Vierwaldstättersee. We jumped onto one ship and took a trip over the Lake. There were many mountains around – but I didn’t want to climb on one of it. I loved the views and the beautiful hotel there – it must have been a castle in the Past. The lake is so big – it has a big Island. We stopped at a lot of small villages. Look – another ship – there were a lot of ships on the lake. We stopped after 1,5 hours – and took another ship back to Luzern. It was called Schwyz. On the way back I had great views again. It was a nice afternoon on the Vierwaldstättersee. Yours Helmut |
RikeH Posted Jun 22, 2013, 8:02 pm |
Hello Mum,
Today we explored Luzern. First I climbed up a hill and had a great view of the city. Behind me you can see the Vierwaldstättersee. I walked on the old wall and saw this wonderful tower. There were nice places with old houses in the city center. And this is the famous place of Luzern – the Kapellbrücke. Maybe this is a nicer view? There were old paintings on the bridge. Look – a wonderful church. We went into it. I had a wonderful time in Bavaria and Switzerland – but now it is time to go back to Germany – and celebrate Dicker Kumpel’s birthday there. Love Helmut |
RikeH Posted Jun 23, 2013, 10:35 pm |
Hello Mum,
It was Dicker Kumpel’s birthday today. He got a blindfold. Then he was allowed to look. We all sat in front of and sang a birthday song for me. Dicker Kumpel received some garden tools. I would love to have some tools for me, too. Look – Dicker Kumpel received a present from his friend Murph. All he need for a Candlelight Dinner with Kleine Fee. Could you please have the same for me at home, when I return? I would love to have it for Charlotte and me! Birthdays are nice! Then we had a party with coke, fruits and burgers. It was a wonderful birthday party! Love Helmut |

Hello Mum,
I went to Hamburg – this is a nice lake in the city called Alster. There was a big fountain on it. The town hall was really beautiful. This place is called Alsterarkaden. Then I went into a big mall –called Europapassage. Have a look at the arches. It was funny – I saw the arch from above, because I went to RikeH’s working place. On our way back home we stopped at another mall – called Levantehaus. Dicker Kumpel told us that there were nice sculptures of wild animals. And he was right. It was amazing. Back home I went into the garden – and found this wonderful blossom. Do you know what plant it is? Love Helmut |
RikeH Posted Jun 28, 2013, 8:46 pm |
Hello Mum,
Today we went to the Port of Hamburg. You can see so many ships there. This sailing ship is old and called Rickmer Rickmers. This is a monument from people from Vietnam. This is another old ship – there is a museum on it. Do you know this monument – it is called Elbphilharmonie. It is really often in the news, because the building costs a lot more than planned. I loved the red ship – it is called Feuerschiff – and it is a restaurant now. It was a nice day here. Yours Helmut |

Hello Mum,
I am in the North of Germany – and love the music here – it is called Shanty. Today there was a Shanty-Choir-Meeting in Travemünde. So we went to Travemünde. There was a beautiful beach. This Buddha was so funny. Then it was time for the music. I knew many of the songs – and sang with the choirs. Look – I saw a big ferry. And a wooden sailing ship. But this is the famous ship here in Travemünde – it is called Passat. There was a big ferry wheel – but it started to rain, so we didn’t took a ride on it. When I turned – I saw another big ferry! Although it was raining we all loved these beautiful flowers. Dicker Kumpel told us that you see this big hotel really early, when you arrive in Travemünde by a ferry. It was time to go home, so we went to the old train station. We had fun on our way home and sang nice songs like ‘Rolling home’. Love Helmut |

Today I said goodbye to Dicker Kumpel, because I will come home to you! Look - I got a gift by him, because we became close friends. And he invited me to come back - maybe next year. Now I can work in the garden with you. Then the others gave me a big hug. I will miss them. I will travel in this nice parcel - it is really big. So I decided to invite TobiHH to come with me. We will have a lot of fun on our trip. Hopefully we will arrive soon - I bring some souvenirs from my trip with me. Love HelmutBluepant |

Very nice to meet You TobiHH and me showed our gifts and presents and I am very proud and thankful about the nice garden shovel donated by RikeH and Dicker Kumpel Thank You very much for it Oink and Lotte were very happy about the yummie cookies from Switzerland Lotte was very impressed by the nice Hotel in Zermatt shown on the postcards They liked the huge map with the swiss mountains very much and I told them a lot about my journey with RikeH, Dicker Kumpel, Kleine Fee, Gozer, Pepita and Manganinnie Tobi and me were very hungry after our trip and what a surprise: Lotte and Oink had cooked lentil stew, my favourite meal After the meal I asked Tobi what he would think about a small welcome party And he liked the idea. O.K., lets have a traditional welcome-back-plushie-party I had a blubbing Hugo with Oink And one more with Tobi Then it was the right mood for a strawberry dance That was such a great fun Oops, I felt on my back, thanks that the Hugo didn´t waste Then Lotte danced with Tobi, that was funy, too Woow, I am boozed enough to sit on a balloon Ohoh, Lotte tried to dive after a strawberry in the bottom of the glass... What a party And now we are tired enough to find some sleep in Lottes comfortable new plushiebag Good Night to You all Yours Helmut |

Today we went to an old but interesting place in Remscheid: The Steffenshammer, a very old smithy that is now a little Museum and still funcionable today and shows the visitor, how the people in the Bergisch Land formed irontools with using water as energy.
The place is called Clemenshammer, but the old smithy is called Steffenshammer Behind me You can see a huge wheel for transmission This is the entrance to the little half-timbered house and until the 1930s a widow with 6 children lived. The house is very very small, you can see it at the windows. This is the entrance Behind me are the narrow stairs up to the first floor but this is closed for public Here in the main room the association that promotes the Clemenshammer, shows what tools the smithy produced in the old times and wich tools they needed and how hard and difficult the circumstances of living and working were in the so called "good old times"... And this is the smithy itself Lets have a look inside Here I am on a funny chair, it hangs from the ceiling. That has the reason that the smith can move for and back when the iron gets longer and longer during the process of smithering There You can see the hammer powerd by waterenergie and the anvil, where the sun shines through. It was very dark there, only the light from outside and the fire in the oven lightend the room Lets have a look outside again and see how the water turns the huge wheel Ahhh I liked the water that sprinkled and is was very powerful, what an energy, what a noise it makes... In the garden was a small summer-party and they showed how to smith And it was funny to see how the wafels will be baked here Hmm, yummie, of course we had one Lotte and me let a balloon into freedom First we wirte a postcard with our name and adress on Then the nice lady helped us to fix the postcard at the balloon And then....set Your Toys...ähh..sorry...Balloons free Oink and TobiHH won a little sheep that was happy to join out troops And a dixie-band played nice music Lotte was asked to take care of the huge tuba that nobody damages it Nice summerparty and we recreated a little moment sitting on this bank Then we were invited to visit an astonishing park: The "Unicat of Gardens" What a nice and interesting place this was The last for today shows a typical Bergisch House with ist green shutters ...And NO, Lotte, I do not think about to buy the house |
Strunki strunki1259@web.de Posted Jul 9, 2013, 12:19 am |
On this hot summer night evening I invited my dearest Charlotte to a very special dinner in the garden under two lampions and more iluminated by some candles.
(By the way, it was her idea and she rocked and rolled the last two days, because she wanted to celebrate "the day of the kiss" with me in a very special manner. And she wanted me to wear a bow tie around my neck, but I only have my one blue pant... We arranged us on a red rose at my brace...) To drink we had Hugo with Strawberry ...(A beer I would prefer, but o.k., beer seems not to be romantic...) And the first course started with a heart of tomato-mozzarella That refreshes for the beginning (I will hope that´s only the starter) Our main course was a rissole-cheese-tower topped with a carrot and escorted by filled bell-chillies with hot mango-chilli-cream in heart-shape on salted crackers (Oh good, a meatball with cheese, but what for a function has the carrot picked by an umbrella???...And what is that for healthy filled vegetable???...A steak would be better...) Lotte had to write down the complete long name of the dish I have never heard such a long name for such less food... And she asked me "...Helmut...aren´t You sated? You squint on my plate a very long time?" "Oh nonono, it was quite enough...(gulp) I only admired Your fluffy earfur", I told her... Time for saying cheers "And what about a ...?", I asked her "Yes?...A kiss?", she asked back "Lotte, I want to ask You about..ähh..what is Your opinion to... " (Uiuiuiui... I hope she doesn´t expect a wedding proposal??)... "Yes, Helmut, what do You want to ask me?" "Öööhhhm..what about the dessert?" "....What?????...of course, the dessert....certainly.... The dessert was the best but not very sumptuous: Two dark and white mousse au cocolat-hearts "One spoon for You" "And one spoon for me" "Woooow" that was very delicious, but now let´s see the stars in the sky" "Can´t be shine like Your eyes tonight" To be continued, but not for public |

Today was a fine and sunny day and we went to the Gruga-Park in Essen
With about 65ha is the Gruga one of the largest Parks in Germany Look at the fantastic four fountains Here are the first views into the landscape of the park And everywhere you find some more or less nice sculptures Everywhere are nice and coloured flowers in large flowerbeds Lotte and me liked the water lilies From a bridge You can see the "Hundertwasserhouse" It is in the area of the park but not open for public, because its a temporary home for children who are very ill to recreate here together with their parents Now we come nearer to the tropical houses Look at the nice Agapanthus And the Angel trumpet (Brugmansia or Datura) is even huge In the cactus-hall A golden barrel cactus (Echinocactus grusonii). Some people call it also "seat of mother in law" And this drago reminds us at tenerife Now we change to the bonsai area We like the small trees in our size And here is the best: the view from the Gruga-Tower Don´t forget, we are still in the middle of a City in the Ruhr-Area, Essen That was the trip for today with our guests TobiHH and Oink |

Today the weather was not as sunny as the days before, the people told us...
So I have to wait until I can put my shovel into the sand... But we spent a nice day at the harbour of Büsum and saw a lot of ships Most of them are shrimp boats, because Büsum is famous for shrimpfishing but some other nice ships are here as well in the old harbour part Here is a ship at the wharf Nice to see people working when you are on holiday But we didn´t only see ships there This is an old light-fire And here are some tons and nets from older times And here You can see the modern lighthouse of Büsum In the centre a nice clock And a train for tourists Some ships came in and some came out of the harbour But we also saw some animals, can You see the little hatchlings of the black-headed gull [Larus ridibundus]? Then we drove bicycle and bought some shrimps Here together with my travelling-pal TobiHH What a nice first full day |
Strunki strunki1259@web.de Posted Jul 14, 2013, 5:19 am |
Today we spent the complete day on the beach of Büsum: The new Pearl Lagoon. Altough heaven was very cloudy, it wasn´t very cold...until the wind came...
There is a dam in the middle where You can walk on to the sandy beach This is the view from the other side And here to the sea itself A lot of colurful tents with shops are there The first we did was playing in the sand Together with TobiHH I filled a bucket with sand. There we built a castle of sand I am sooo happy about my blue shovel from RikeH and Dicker Kumpel Then we had fun on the water I tried to dive but I wasn´t able to see anything in the mud After Swimming we chilled in a huge circle swing That was a lot of fun for us all In the afternoon we heard a shanty choire singing TobiHH an me knew most of the songs and we sang the whole time. Together with TobiHH I swayed to the music That was it for today, tomorrow we plan to drive to Friederichskoog and want to visit the seal-station |
Strunki strunki1259@web.de Posted Jul 15, 2013, 7:51 am |
Today we visited the Sealstation in Friedrichskoog, founded in the early 80thies to hatch baby seals lost their mothers
There is a large tower to climb on and You have a wonderful view all over the landscape At first we learned the difference between a common seal or harbour seal and a grey seal Then we climbed on the tower to have a first view from above There You can see a building formed as a whale, it´s an indoor-playground for children In the pools are a lot of small baby seals to hatch They have been found on the beaches at the northern sea without their mothers and brought here to take care of them until they are old enough But You can also watch adult seals. The huge dark one is a grey seal and this is a harbour seal They are not able to live on their own because they were ill as babys Can You see me on the largest seal I have ever seen? Here I am with a real seal At the end alltogether we donated an amount for the station What a nice and informative place |

In the afternoon we vistited Meldorf, a very old town with an impressive dome, almost a cathedral.
The first we did was drinking koffee at the nice "Dome-Café" at the market, it was a very good advice by mcdaniels who knows the place very well, and, Meldorf is also the birthplace of Soeren, her funny elk. See us plushies having coffee, strawberry-cake and a huge portion of curd with honey and crunchies Then we saw some nice old houses there around the market The dome was still open in the afternoon So we went into the dome and saw the impressive interiour there Light was a little bit difficult, Strunki apologizes for that Before we went home we saw this nice blooming rosebush at a house I loved it to take a bath in theese wonderful roses That was a nice sunday here in the North |
Strunki strunki1259@web.de Posted Jul 17, 2013, 6:28 am |
Today we drove to the Eidersperrwerk, that is a huge protection building against storm tides and connects Dithmarschen in the south and Eiderstedt in the north
It was built between 1967 and 1973 and has its 40th anniversary this year It is almost 250m long and about 15m high There You can see the huge double portals to close or to open up and down Here we are on the top, you can walk above and the cars drive under the way There is a bridge that can be opened for ships From the top You have a beautiful view on the river Eider But we want to go on by car and so we drove the tunnel That was exciting! |
Strunki strunki1259@web.de Posted Jul 17, 2013, 9:17 am |
After the Eidersperrwerk we drove on to St.-Peter-Ording
In the old village are nice houses with beautiful gardens Strunki promised us that there is also a large beach with a lot of sand where we can build sandcastles Such a castle we want to build O.K., let´s drive to the beach Well, not only TO the beach but ON the beach itsself This place is the only one in Germany where You are allowed to drive on the beach by car, its unique... Together with TobiHH I digged a moat around our castle Lotte took care that we do it right I must admit, it hasn´t the same size of the sandcastle we saw in the village but we had a lot of fun building it After so much work we had to recreate in the beachchair Then we found a kite It was complete and so we started kiting After kiting and so much activities on the beach we had to chill out again in a lounge at one of the famous stilt houses What a great place (when the sun shines...) |
Strunki strunki1259@web.de Posted Jul 17, 2013, 11:54 am |
On our way back from St.-Peter-Ording we made a short trip to Toenning

Here are some first impressions from the market place and the dutch facades Here is one of the canals with nice bridges Everywhere You find nice portals and rosebushes at the housefronts The people even have flowers planted in their boats... Then we had the idea to make a guided roundtrip through the canals by boat That was a great fun to see the town from the waterside I like this bridge in dutch style Now we are on the river Treene A great day with much to see |
Strunki strunki1259@web.de Posted Jul 19, 2013, 6:35 am |
Today we made a walk across the mudflats and saw some interesting things
At first we noticed the sign that You have to be careful because of the tide Then we started our walk and found our first shell I put it into my bucket Then we walked further on and found some more interesting habitants of the mudflat O.K., this is not a lugworm [Arenicola marina] itself but the little hills he makes when the water is not there But it looks very interesting The next we found was seaweed or little kelp And here are some very very very small edible crabs, in German it is called Taschenkrebs [Cancer pagurus] Here is a bigger one Some different seaweed And here is a jellyfish Here are some more different shells The nice guide digged a bit and in the mud we found this interesting worm This is a clam worm, in German Borstenwurm [Nereis sp.] But here is the real lugworm [Arenicola marina] It tries to dig itself back into the mud, it doesn´t like the sun Then the hightide came back and we finished our mudflat-walk And came back safe to the point we started What an interesting day That´s it for today |
Strunki strunki1259@web.de Posted Jul 19, 2013, 10:16 pm |
Today it was not sunny enough for the beach so we decided to go on the market
It´s a nice and colourful market with lots of local products Here are the greengrocers and there You get some nice fruits Here is the fish A lot of cheese Meat and sausages from the butcher But not only groceries You find here Flags, kites, windbells and sheep...o.k., no real ones Flowers and plants But what do we want to buy on the market? After a first view we decided to buy some apples this fruit market stall looks very nice Yummy apples we bought there |

In a small park sat this kind person, it is the statue of Neocorus, he was one of the first pastors of Büsum and wrote a Chronicle about the Dithmarschen We went inside and found a very nice and interesting interiour What an impressive pulpit Wonderful old curchwindows and the altar And a ship from the ceiling Outside we found this nice building, the old mailstation There we had typical tea with milk and rock candy On our way to the promenade we found this thatched-roof house Its very new builded At the promenade waited a suprise: They rebuild the dykes and the old beach is closed at this season O.K., let´s see what we will find in Heide |
Strunki strunki1259@web.de Posted Jul 20, 2013, 8:39 pm |
At next we visited Heide, the hugest town in the near
Here is the old church, but unfortenatuly it was closed A nice fountain with St. Georg on the top A large pedestrian zone with many nice shops But we came to Heide for antother reason, a very special plant nursery |
Strunki strunki1259@web.de Posted Jul 20, 2013, 10:01 pm |

There we enjoy the landscape Look what we found in a dustbin A large piece of thin cloth and a bag with rods We take it with us and try what it could be Then we built it up Ready! That looks great It´s a beachshelter We have a lot of fun inside and outside In the afternoon we left the beach and met some sheep, even small lambs Great day |

But You don´t guess what we were able to do, because the wind was optimale for this: We did plushie-kiting Do You remember the kite we found in St.-Peter-Ording? We built it up At first I wanted to try it on my own to show the others that is not dangerous That was great! Today we made a little walk through the pedestrian zone of Wuppertal-Barmen
Here we start at the beginning. Behind me You can see a station in old style of the suspension railway (Schwebebahn), but in the holidays it doesn´t drive, because of the huge renovation that lasts almost 10 years for the whole railway... One of the nicer pre-war buildings there. A lot of houses were destroyed in WWII and the houses they built up after it, are only functional, but not very nice... This is the formerly "Hall of fame" , built at the end of the 19th. century. Now its "the house of the youth" and sometimes bands playing there. Here we play with 3 huge bronce turtles. They have their home in the pedestrian zone and are very popular, almost by the kids who want to sit on them. This is the town-hall of barmen, built in the late 20ths of the 20th century And bronce-animals again, but much older, here as colums of large lanterns Here we sit on the basic of one of them And we met "Tuffi" He is very famous here, in the 50ths he jumped out of the suspension railway and fell into the Wupper. Nothing seriously happend to him That was our little walk Love and hugs to all of You See You Yours Helmut |

Hi Folks,
today we went to Wuppertal and visited the Botanical Garden there Today and on Sunday they celebrate a colourful summer fair around the Elisentower And this is the Elisentower itsself Formerly built as a windmill in the 18th century, a rich industrial magnate bought the area around the mill and built up his villa there in the 19th century. And he upsized the windmill tower to have a better view on the landscape of the valley of the river Wupper. First we started our tour and looked at the booths with handcrafted objects Then we visited the botanical garden itself Here parts of the old villa used as orangerie Look at the wonderful Lotos flower Here are some more impressions of the garden One of the two ponds with nice water lilies Even bananas they have in the warmhouse Here You can see the tower again And here I am on the tower O.K. this is not the real tower, but a good size for us plushies Now we are in the real tower What a nice wooden ornament on the floor Look at the nice ornaments under the ceiling Today this room is used for marriage ceremonies So let´s see what us expect outside Now we are on the top of the Elisentower, enjoying the landscape of Wuppertal and the fair in the garden On our way downstairs we learned some more about the 200 year old area of the Hardt What a fine day here we spent That´s it for today, see You soon Yours Helmut |

Dear mummy,
after talking the whole night we fell asleep in the morning... Some hours later we were woken up by Charlotte: "Listen" she said, "let's make hostmum happy and clean up the kitchen before she'll come home from work." Good idea I thought but I suspected that's not all...and so it was. Of course Charlotte's suggestion had a snag: "You'll clean up and I'll look after you." she said. We looked at each other and agreed on this suggestion: No! First I feared she would explode but guess what, she didn't say anything and started cleaning up together with us. I think she saw she had no chance against our majority After hard work Nick the bear (nice guy) showed us a very nice card game: 'everybody wants Stinky'. You have to collect pairs of cards and the one who has got the skunk at last is the winner, not the looser in consideration of Mefito! It was a very nice play and I won, mummy! Love you yours Helmut |

Dear mummy,
while hostmum and hostdad were working today we explored their flat. First we got to know the very old dog lady Trixi. Nice to meet you! Trixi was followed by a purple sheep and Brother Jacob, a kind monk. After visiting the orchids we discovered the best: a piano, a trumpet and a guitar Of course we decided to become a septet! First each of us tried each instrument and soon the several talents came to light. And now have a look at the world's best septet ! |

Dear mummy,
today morning we visited Bad Lippspringe, a spa near Paderborn. In Bad Lippspringe there are five sources: Lippe, Jordan, Arminius, Liborius and Martinus and the water you can get from some of them is very good drinking water. There are two spa gardens, an older one and a newer on. On the photo you can see a part of the older one with many old and some young trees. We visited also the ruin of a very old castle standing in the centre of Bad Lippspringe and the church St. Martin. In a bookshop we found many many plushie-postcards and I chose a very nice one I'll send to you And guess what, my new friend *Nick* became a TV today See you yours Helmut |

in the morning I wrote my postcard to you. Hope it'll arrive soon! And then Charlotte and me escorted hostmum to work. She works as a social worker in an old people's home. We started in Neuenbeken, hostmum's homevillage as you know. On our way to Paderborn city we met the autumn... And after 8 kilometres we reached the old people's home from the back. Today hostmum played bingo together with the old people and of course we joined in And look what we wrote for you when we were alone in the social worker's office Love you yours Helmut |

mcdaniels Posted Sep 29, 2013, 12:45 pm |
Dear mummy,
today our North Sea-trip has begun! In the early morning we took our places in the car and Most of the time we drove on motorways but together with Mefito, Charlotte, *Nick*, The WotWots, UrselHH and Sargent Froggo it wasn't boring at all. After a few hours we crossed Hamburg and drove through a long tunnel underneath river Elbe. A further hour later we crossed the Kiel Canal. The typical landscape we could see outside the car showed us that we were already at our's destination. And so it was. A few minutes later we reached a nice sofa in our holiday home in Friedrichskoog Love you yours Helmut |
mcdaniels Posted Sep 30, 2013, 1:40 pm |
Dear mummy,
What we did first on our first day: we borrowed a TV-suitable bike for reaching all sights and places in Friedrichskoog. Today we drove to the 'Trischendamm', a dam that streches 2 km into the North Sea. On our way to the dam we saw a sign that confirmed us to prefer driving by bike and not by car...driving by car seems to be very dangerous in this region Though we were on our way by bike I put on my diving goggles as a precaution On the Trischendamm we walked up to the end and stood so to speak in the middle of the North Sea. On the horizon we could see the skyline of Büsum. It was a windy day so we had to pay attention not to fly away...And guess what, I was the only one who dared to swim with my little boat Back at the dyke we took a rest in a nice wicker beach. On our way back home we bought some jam standing at the roadside. There were no seller but only a box to put in the money. See you yours Helmut |
mcdaniels Posted Sep 30, 2013, 9:49 pm |
Dear mummy,
in the morning we unfolded Charlotte's and my magic towels. We had to put the little packets into water and waited some seconds...and then two very nice towels came to light We all hoped that the sun will shine the next time so that we could use them all together... |

Dear mummy,
today it was very sunny and cause hostmum had promised me to use my little blue shovel if the weather was good, TODAY WAS MY DAY Look, isn't it a magnificent hole? Yours lucky Helmut |
mcdaniels Posted Oct 1, 2013, 3:42 pm |
In the afternoon we wanted to visit Friedrichskoog's little lighthouse. A narrow dam leads to the lighthouse. On our way we saw a nice red fishing cutter, the typical ship in this region.
After half the distance we took a rest. Looking back we could see the tower standing in the seal station we visited in July together with you, mummy. Cause it was high tide the dam was overflowed at it's end so we unfortunately couldn't reach the lighthouse and had to turn back. Perhaps we'll try again at low tide. Back at the dyke we found a big stone with an inscription: at this place runs the 54th northern latitude. Charlotte and me visited the little shop at the seal station and bought some souvenirs. It's a very nice fishing cutter, isn't it? Yours Helmut |

today morning we visited the old windmill in which hostmum and hostdad married a few years ago. It's a nice place and I ask me what Lotte thought when we visited the mill... Okay, she's a nice girl but together with my friends I've much fun, too... Yours Helmut |

Dear mummy,
today morning it was raining so *Nick* read a book to us. In the afternoon the weather was much better so we drove to Meldorf, a little nice town near Friedrichskoog we visited together with you this summer. First we visited the great cathedral built up in the 13th century. And then hostmum showed us the market square with her favourite café, of course we went in...very good, do you remember? After that we saw the book shop our very good friend Soeren came from Somebody had an old anchor in his garden and of course we wanted to sit on it... Love you yours Helmut |

Dear mummy,
cause it was raining again we had time to sit in a nice café and to explore the interior furnishings after eating and drinking. There were very interesting things in plushie-size, so we played seafarer and lighthouse attendent...fantastic! And we had time to write a postcard to you Love you yours Helmut |

Today the weather was very good, so in the morning we walked on the Trischendamm at low tide for picking shells.
After picking some we took arest on the big stones. I took a shorter rest cause I wanted to have time for working with my blue shovel again On our way back we had a great sight of the mud flats. Back at the dyke Charlotte and me took a rest on our new towels for the first time Then we met 'Fritze', a very big mud flats worm and then we played on a nice boat and took another rest on deck. In the afternoon we went into another nice café...hostparents love cafés as you can see... |
mcdaniels Posted Oct 4, 2013, 12:09 pm |
Dear mummy,
today morning we tried to reach the little lighthouse again, this time at low tide. But first Charlotte wanted to visit her sister-in-law who lives here at the dyke. Charlotte's brother unfortunately still is in prison and she still doesn't want to tell us why. And so she went alone into the rabbit burrow (Charlotte's brother had married a rabbit as you can see) and we had to wait outside while she was talking with her sister-in-law. After a while she came back, hugged me but she didn't want to say anything about her visit. If you ask me it seems to be a not so pleasant part of her family... So we started to the lighthouse and reached it. Before going back we took a long rest sitting there and talking about life... Love you, yours Helmut |

In the afternoon we visited the nice little fishing harbour.
|
mcdaniels Posted Oct 4, 2013, 6:11 pm |
In the evening we had to say goodbye to the North Sea...and the North Sea said goodbye presenting us a great sunset... |
mcdaniels Posted Oct 4, 2013, 7:44 pm |
Dear mummy,
back home we immediately had to say goodbye to Mefito who'll start to make a pilgrimage in Spain tomorrow together with hostgrandma. Of course I'm not to begrudge him doing this but so he can't accompany Charlotte and me back home next week Be careful, best friend, and I hope to see you again soon... |

Dear mummy,
today we made a sightseeing tour through Paderborn city. We started with a great breakfast in the café of hostmum's friend. Then we visited the cathedral. The first local missionary church was built up in the year 777. The new building of the cathedral took place in 799. As it stands today, the cathedral was erected between 1215-1280. Following the destructions it suffered during the Second World War it was rebuilt to its original design with a few minor alterations. Of course we visited the 'hare window' in the inner courtyard of the cathedral: three hares with only three ears but every hare has got two ears Foundations of the Carolingian and Ottonian-Salic imperial palaces were exposed from 1964 until the late seventies. The Ottonian-Salic Palace was reconstructed between 1976 and 1978 in accordance with a plan made by an architect. The original building construction with its rising brickwork is clearly identifiable. Then we visited the market square with the Neptun-fountain and the townhall. After that we visited river Pader, Germany's shortest river (only 4 km) but 200 springs inside the city and a big frog At the end of the Second World War Paderborn was almost totally destroyed, only a few houses 'survived'. The photos show the oldest house (built up in 1560) and a few other half-timbered houses. Finally we went into a gummi bears shop for buying a present for you and olgamaus we'll both see on Saturday See you soon yours Helmut |

*Nick* brought us the great idea to celebrate a "silly sports day" Have You ever heard about gum-diving?? Here You see the very first four athlets... We hope it becomes an olympic discipline The next discipline is "marshmellow-Balance", veeeeery difficult and You need an absolute perfect body control... Elmar... he won, because the rest of us ate the marshmellows before the contest ended... The last discipline was cake-jumping... But look wht happend with Elmar... his trunk plugged into a hole in the cake... Of course we helped and pushed him out See and hughughug You Your good boy Helmut |

Hello Folks,
today we made a little trip around and under the Müngstener Brücke, the oldest and highest Railwaybridge in Germany. Here we start over a small bridge over the Wupper and You can see the Diederichstempel Here You have the first impression of this huge building We found one in plushie-size, the complete area of the Wupper-valley around the bridge on an bronce-table Here we are directly under the construction, it is soo huge and impressive... That stone remembers, how old the bridge is.... The German emperor Kaiser Wilhelm visited Müngsten in 1899 Here is a good view But now we left the bridge behind us for taking a walk through the nice autum forest on the footpath next to the Wupper Here I found a fly agaric [Amanita muscaria] ...But I wasn´t allowed by Lotte to taste it like the Wikings did in early days... old spoilsport.... Here at this interesting stone with handprints carved in we rested and met the guests of olgamaus, Tsukumo, KoalaMimi, Rocky Raccoon and her newest guest, RSG Leo Here we are at the place called Wiesenkotten. There is a bridge and we change the riverside *Nick* and me There we hiked on the way back and came to this beautyful landscape A few meters away we are under the bridge again, only much more higher and on the other side Now we reach the Diederichstempel And have the last nice view on the bridge from there before we enjoyed the hospitality of olgamaus with koffee and the typical Bergisch rusk That´s it for today, Folks Love and hug You Yours Helmut |

Hello Folks,
today was a typical autum day here: Ist was very cold, sometimes windy and for a few moments we saw the sun And we went to an orchard festival at Stiftung Tannenhof At the entrance we saw the biggest apple of our life And behind the entrance we were expected by some bronce statues The next surprise was an nice old red tractor and we were invited to drive onto a trailer behind the tractor to have a first roundtrip on the huge area of the older parts of Tannenhof I was sooo happy to sit with my best pal *Nick* on my favourite tractor model, an old "Porsche Junior", built in the 60ties :-) We had a lot of fun on the trailer and after the tour ended, I was the only TV who was allowed to drive on my own Our next station was a tent with some very different apples All looked soo yummy Behind us You can see two huge manual cider presses for apple juice Here are impressions of the festival and the orchard itsself See us sitting on a warm and soft sheepskin and carving the pumpkin was a lot of fun but we liked the soup as well And we love sitting under the spindle tree [Euonymus europaeus] funny was the distorting mirror What a full day and we were happy having the oppurtunity to chill out in the nice seat zone What a great day, even when it was cold.... That´s it for today, Folks See and love You Yours Helmut |

Here we found a nice blooming spindle tree [Euonymus europaeus] This is the beginning of of the main path From this point You have a beautiful view on the landscape Here we made a short break After a while enjoying the landscape we went on deeper into the forest and saw a lot of sequoia trees See me playing in the tree Later on the ground we found a lot of mushrooms, but we know too less about them, but some look very yummy Perhaps we should ask HoBi, wich are eatable At last we admired the giant sequoia trees, they are still very young there in the arboretum, but very huge That was it for the weekend, see You soon and love You, folks Yours Helmut |

Hi folks,
today its almost a nice autumnday and olgamaus invited us to accompany her and her guests Kirin, Rocky Raccoon and Frederik to a little trip in and around Hasten Here You see the most significant Building near to the main place, a house with a round tower We start in Büchel, where a lot of old and typical Bergisch half-timbered houses with slate fronts and green shutters are It´s a very quiet and peaceful area here where You also can find some nice details at the houses Look at this paintings in the backround In the near we met a cat some cool pumpkins and a dog After a while walking down to the valley of the Morsbach we reached Clemenshammer, but we didn´t stay there Following the small river Morsbach, we found this huge rock with a nice poem carved in Can You read it? " A little shower only She lured him under the umbrella tears of joy" Then, after reaching a place called Gerstau, we met some friendly sheep And came back into the forest again Here we learned from a sign, that this place was used in older times to guard sheep and that the people used the forest to burn charcoal a meadow with some more sheep and a horse Coming out of the forest we saw an old smithy Here we are at a small hammer-lake See me and my best friend *Nick* A really nice small house again And here I am in front of the \"Haus Cleff\", a part of the Historical Centre What a nice walk for today Love and kiss You, folks Yours Helmut |

today was a great event at the pond: Störte, the good old pirate, has landed and he survived a long, long and dangerous sailing trip (so he told us) Lotte found him first and we plushies supported him to reach the pond banks So we pulled and pulled Then, after a while, we did it: His first steps on the ground I gave him a warm welcome after he inspected me first Perhaps he thinks that I am a little too plain for his behaviour? And Lotte? You can imagine how she melted... a rose, clever, Störte... Lotte returned the favour immediately Here´s her fur for wintertime And something more to heat him up: A honeydrink We think, he likes it That was it for today, Folks, see You soon and love You Yours Helmut |

Hello Folks,
today it was almost sunny in the morning so we decided to drive to Wuppertal and visited the "Northern Park" Nordpark there The foothpaths are very comfortable there Before we went into the forest, we enjoyed the view on Barmen And found a nice monument, used as a spring in the summer Look at the carved stone, a frog perhaps? We also passed a popular restaurant destination, but the renovations take some years, strunki told us O.K., instead of having a stop there, we discovered the forest and found nice autum colours Along our way we saw lots of beeches and yews And found some nice treestumps where we played a little bit See me with my best pal *Nick* and Hase good old Störte and little UrselHH comes on top At last, who else? Lotte... I like playing in the trees so we continued our walk and wanted to visit the fallow deer in the game enclosure We had to go deeper into the forest And found first? some last blooming daisy Will we watch the deer from here? Therefore we have to wander through the kitchen through the hall and reached the pantry Störtes next step to heaven: A pirates breakfast It followed a funny stairwayparty After a while, Störte missed the ladies... No girls tonight, Nick told him Look at my foot, I informed him Woooow, a map was our second gift for him and of course Störte is a pirate who understands his job, he identifies it as a treasure map and nominated *Nick* and me to members of his crew From now on we are pirates and partners to lift the treasure as well *giggle* Our great adventure begins from now on... tbc... |

Hi Folks,
today we did something for our feathered friends, the birds staying outside in wintertime See *Nick* with the raisins, Charlotte and me with the vegetable fat, UrselHH with the oat flakes, Hase and Störte with the grain feed These are old plantingpots with a stick in the middle and we want to melt the fat and mix all our ingriediences together to fill them. So let´s start with us melting the fat in a huge panpot That takes some time to heat the fat Really some time... After a while the fat began to melt See me stiring in the pot Ursel is a tough mouse girl and doesn´t need any support she ensures to us After mixing the seed, the oat flakes and the raisins, and stiring the mixture by *Nick*, the feeding is ready for the old little pots See me filling the pot Ready When the fat cools out and becomes hard, You can turn around the pots and hang them into the trees so the birds can pick out the seeds, the oat flakes and the raisins in wintertime That´s it for today Yours Helmut |

Hi Mum,
I arrived – but first I hid under my scarf – so the other didn’t know, who I am. I heard them talking… Well – Kleine Fee and Dicker Kumpel saw my foot and shouted: Helmut! They were so happy to see me! All the others came to say hello, too. Dicker Kumpel showed me his wonderful Christmas Crib. Then I showed what I brought with me. Of course my own gift that Dicker Kumpel and Kleine Fee sent me. Then I showed all the gifts I brought for the others! They loved it! We just thought about starting to unpack our gifts when RikeH arrived. She told us: It is not Christmas now – and took all our gifts with her. It seems to us that we have to wait until Christmas. I am sure that I will have a wonderful Christmas Time here! Yours Helmut |

Hello Mum,
In Germany we celebrate Christmas on the 24th of December. Today it was time to decorate the Christmas tree. Look – we had sunny weather – RikeH loves sunshine – but told me that we will have problems with some photos because of the light. Look – there is our tree. Here you can see our decoration. I loved these balls. These are the wooden things. Here are the small ones for the upper part of the tree. These are some ornaments RikeH likes very much. And some of these she brought from her journeys, most of it is from Denmark. Witching hour! No – it is not a ghost – it is me. There is still the problem with the sunshine in the living-room. But I wanted to show you a photo of our Christmas Tree. This is the decoration I love most! And this is an important part of the Christmas tree – the bird was always in the Christmas tree of RikeH's grandma. And now it has a place of honour in RikeH's tree. Mum, I am so excited – tomorrow it is Christmas! Love Helmut |

Hello Mum,
It is Christmas! And look! A child is born! First Dicker Kumpel read the Nativity Story for all of us. We all sang Christmas Songs – the last one was Silent Night. Eventually the two most important guests arrived. Santa Claus was busy, but he sent his two friends Rudi the reindeer and Snowy the snowman. I started with a Christmas Poem and sang a song. I am sure they loved it – because I got some chocolate. We all wanted a group photo with Snowy and Rudi. Then my big moment came. I took all the gifts I brought with me. PinkyHH loved the soap. Stoker, Djali and Matcha loved the snowmen. Kleine Fee was impressed by the spices. And Dicker Kumpel was so happy with his gift! Then I opened my gift. Chocolate, a snowman candle and a card game. We all had a great time! Merry Christmas dear Mum and Charlotte! Love Helmut |

Hi Mum,
Today we took a walk through Sülfeld. First I learnt something about an old canal here. There is a small park in Sülfeld… … with a little lake. Maybe I will see it frozen in the wintertime. Behind me you can see the old school with a beautiful big Christmas tree. This is the emblem of Sülfeld. I went to the church. On the other side of the street there is the old pharmacy. In front of Dicker Kumpel’s house there were funny Christmas guys. We talked a lot. Love Helmut |

Hi Mum
In the afternoon we visited Dicker Kumpel’s grandma. I loved the candlelight. Look – there are wonderful wooden things out of the Erzgebirge. And a really small Christmas crib. Beautiful! Dicker Kumpel’s grandma had a very nice Christmas tree, too. Love Helmut |

Hello Mum,
It was a great day today! Murph, Soeren, TobiHH and Sean came and visited us. Murph had gifts for us! Yummy chocolate! Christmas is great! Murph loved the Killepitsch you sent to RikeH. We talked the whole day – but then it was time to say goodbye. It was so great to meet Soeren again. We had a big TV-hug. Hopefully I will see the others somewhere again. My friend TobiHH stayed with us. I gave him our gift. He loved it! And he got a small Santa Claus for me! Love Helmut |

Hello Mum,
Look – the Christmas tree has colored lights today – time for a party! Dicker Kumpel decorated our chair. Then he brought the important things – drinks and food. After our dinner we played my new game. It was great! After the game Dicker Kumpel came with the prices! Look! I won the beautiful small pig! At midnight we went out to welcome the New Year. Happy New Year to all of you! Love Helmut |

Hello Mum,
Today we went to a nice nature park near to Sülfeld. First I saw this black alder. They have interesting roots, because they live in wetlands. The park is great – here I had to solve a puzzle. What kind of tree will this be? Then I saw this raised stand. What will I see from there? I saw many different animals from there – can you see the biggest one – a boar? And there – a badger! I went closer to the boar. There were many storms here in the last weeks – this tree felt down. Then we went to this lovely lake. I learnt a lot about the animals living here. What a wonderful place. On our way back to the car I talked with this funny woodpecker. Then we found a place for long jump! Well Mum – I was not really good. But hopefully you still love me, although I am not a sportsman. We stopped at a slide. This was fun! Back home we found the pizza Murph sent to us! It looked so yummy! Yours Helmut |

Hello Mum,
Today Dicker Kumpel had a surprise for me. A jigsaw – hopefully it won’t be too difficult for us. We started with one and it had 8 pieces. I found the first piece for the right upper corner. Dicker Kumpel found the piece for the buttom. We were really proud! After some time we nearly finished the jigsaw puzzle. Done! Can you recognize the plant? We searched another jigsaw! This one looks great! How many pieces should we choose? RikeH promised to take 16. So many pieces!!! We worked the whole afternoon… …and we were so happy when we finished it! Then I found another beautiful puzzle – with another Plumeria! Unfortunately I chose the wrong number of pieces – 144! I was so sad, because it would be too difficult for me, I think. But RikeH was so nice to solve it for us! What a wonderful afternoon! Yours Helmut |

Hello Mum,
The weather is awful most of the time at the moment – so we had to find something nice inside the house. We went to play billiards. Dicker Kumpel explained us the rules. Then it was my time! It was really funny! And I won 8:3! Then I explored the room. I think that a horse lived here in the past. I tried to call you – you were at work, but I was able to talk to Lotte the whole afternoon! Well - most of the time Lotte spoke, of course. And this was a great place, too. Hopefully the weather will be nicer soon. Love Helmut |

Hello Mum,
I saw your nice photos from Teneriffe. You seem to have a wonderful time there. But I have a great time with my friend Dicker Kumpel and the others here, too. And look – today we had great weather, so we explored the surroundings of Sülfeld. What a wonderful sky with beautiful clouds! But to tell the truth – it was really cold! What a long way – maybe I should have stayed at home? Fortunately we found a sunny place for a rest. I loved this place – with a far view. Well, of course there are not really big hills here in Northern Germany. And the small river here was nice, too. The last photo shows me and Dicker Kumpel’s famous tree. Nice! What a wonderful walk! Yours Helmut |

Hello Mum,
The weather was fine today – time for another walk. I looked at the map, where we should go. Let’s start with this lane. The forest looked not too interesting now in the winter time. But I found a little lake – or maybe only a snow field? It was time for a rest. Then I found a freshly cut tree. What a nice view - this time it was a real lake. Can you see the ice on the small river? It is still cold in Germany. Yours Helmut |

Hello Mum,
We went to the port of Hamburg today. I had a nice view from a place called Landungsbrücken. What a nice tower. On the other side of the Elbe River there are two musical halls – the left one is really new. Behind me you can see the sailing ship Rickmer Rickmers. Then we had a great idea – we jumped onto a small ferry to the building Elbphilharmonie. I had a nice view over the Elbe River. Hamburg’s port is really beautiful. We came near to the both musical halls. Me in front of the skyline of the port. This is the Elbphilharmonie – a very expensive building. I looked to another part of the port – the cruise terminal – but there is no cruise ship today. Another boat – it pushed another one. And here is the part where they load and unload big ships. It was a nice trip for us TVs, RikeH had a hard time, because it was really cold – and her fingers got so cold! Yours Helmut |

Hello Mum,
Yesterday Charlotte arrived. I was so happy to see her again! Today we took a trip to Hamburg together. We went to the part of the Port called Speicherstadt. Many nice buildings are there. Can you see us? Here we are – Charlotte and me – and Dicker Kumpel and Kleine Fee. We saw two different anchors. Behind us you can see the maritime museum. We continued our walk - other beautiful old buildings. This place is called Nikolai-Fleet. What a wonderful day in Hamburg. Yours Helmut |

Hello Folks,
today we made a short trip to the municipal park Remscheid with its little lake Here is something written about the legend of the so called "Stinthengst", a fish, the king of the stints, who promised the people who caught him sometimes ago, that they will have always enough fish if they set him free again. This saga has its origins in the town of Nikolaiken, a twin town of Remscheid and since 1962 every Year in Mai a huge wooden fish with a crown on his head will be released on this pond. Last Year the wooden fish has been kidnapped, here are some articles to read about his mysterious disappearence Here I show You the Bismarcktower with its astronomical observatory on the top And here You see some impressions of the park and its nice tree population, even when they are without leafs now at the end of wintertime See me playing in the witch hazel From one point we had a nice view over the district of Hasten and we decided to walk there Here we found some nice buildings and came to the House Cleff, an impressive example of a patrician half timbered house in the so called "Bergisch Baroque" See me with the lion head doorknocker Here You see us in front of the backside of the house We had a nice afternoon walk, but now we like to rest here, enjoy sitting on the bench for a while That´s the tour of today, love and see You soon Yours Helmut |

Hello Folks,
today we visited the deer-park in Grafenberg At first we met some of my wild relatives there I had a little talk to some of them and they told me that there are worser things than staying here in the park, getting more food than they could eat, but I should be happy that I´m able to see the whole world if I want to... A friendly wooden boar allowed us to sit on him Our next station was the huge free-area of the fallow deer Although it was very sunny and a little bit warm, the deer laid under the trees and snoozed But the area they have is really nice Here we met a friendly wooden pixie ... wasn´t easy for us solving störte from this appealing lady This was luck: the wildcat was not sleeping, but outside, that´s very seldom And another wooden guy But we were also were here for learning a little bit about the forest here in the "Forest-School" Whaaat?? learning?? Us?? TV´s?? On Sunday?? But strunki promised us it would be fun for us O.K., lets have a look inside A book... with nice pictures This box looks very interesting What would we find inside? Soeren knows this box as well, he´s been there a year ago I feel a pine cone This mouflon, the badger and the raccoon next to are impressive a boar and a roe deer this lizard was also interesting ..and very colourful ...and lives At the end it became sunnier again and we saw a small herd of red deer This was our sunday-trip Love and see You soon Yours Helmut |

Hello Folks,
today we had a nice hike around the Sengbachdam, situated inbetween Höhrath, Glüder and the castle Schloss Burg We started in Höhrath and found some nice green shuttered houses there and nice blooming bushes And we met a grass frog in his first trip in the warm sunshine Here the path to the dam started and after about one kilometre we saw the first water through the trees The forest here looks very nice and interesting, although there are no leafs A sign reminded us to be mindful with the forest and its habitants Here we are in the near of the dam again Some landscapes here look similar as the alps And here we are on the barrage of the dam itself. It is a reservoire of drinkable water for the town Solingen The path is part of the so called Bergischer Weg and we found the sign for it here Here we rested a little while for playing on the huge roots of this old beech Almost one last hill more upwards And we had an incredible panorama view on Remscheid and Schloss Burg At the end we discovered, that we hiked a distance of about 10 Kilometres. Not bad That was our trip of today, love and see You soon Yours Helmut |

Hello Folks,
You never guess where I have been today: The first Photo gives You the impression of a spa park But we are in the Bayer-Park in Leverkusen, one of the hugest chemical regions in Germany The weather this weekend was very warm with about 20°C for the beginning of march and very sunny, so the vegetation looks like in spring now. Look at the almost open magnolia-blossoms Some modern architecture of the Bayer AG And a open view into the park We rested on a bench with interesting lionheads And saw a nice looking white lady standing in a temple Of course we wanted to visit her She gave us the hint to visit a huge red lion The lion told us to visit the famous Japanese Garden here Then we followed his hint and visited the Japanese Garden It was wonderful there, the exotic architecture and the asian style of this garden donated us peaceful feelings of harmony See me under the helleborus And the crocuses Look at the nice red camellia Enjoy the colours and the springtime with us here You can call me cherry-blossom The garden is rather small, but very various with a lot of lovely details We all had a lot of fun here and chilled out the rest of the sunday at home in my poppy-blossom That was our tour of today, love and see You soon Yours Helmut |

Hello Folks,
today we visited the German Tool-Museum in Remscheid-Hasten Our tour started at the very first times of tools, at the stone-age Look at me working with the stone-axe Here we are at the bronce-age. The first tools made of metal instead of stone And here we see antique tools And finally tools of the middle age A small smithy in old manner, nothing changed for a very long time Here are other examples for old craftsmen workshops manufacturing tools and use tools therefore itsself Here You see the three areas of tool industry in Germany: Remscheid, Schmalkalden and Stuttgart The work of a filemaker was very hard The discovery of transmission made many hard works much more easier for the people Here You see the huge wheel of a steam engine And here we see some examples of different tools made in Remscheid and the Bergisch Land Lots of boy-toys there There we sit on a time stamp clock, so the workers were controlled that they are at work in time Here You see a part of a metalfoundry and one product: A bell A lot of fun we had in the section where the metaltubes were made The next stations were also interesting: World trade of tools. They shipped them all over the world Nice examples of older tools and a view around the museum from the first floor down to the ground floor Here we can anticipate, how it was to live in the neighbourhood of the work And even outside we found some nice examples of courious machines What´s this? A Plushie-pressing-machine?? I don´t know... This was our tip of today, love and see You soon Yours Helmut |

Hello Folks,
today we walked the Fruitpath in Leichlingen Although the weather was not the finest (it rained at the beginning), we decided to continue, because we hoped to see the fruittrees blooming It´s a nice landscape with hills full of gras and a lot of appletrees, peachtrees, cherrytrees and else fruit trees. The region here is famous in the Bergisch Land for the good fruit growing, because even its in a hign altitude, the mild climate of the valley of the river rhine supports the growing here. But not only fruitflowers we found, look at this nice "forget-me-not" [Myosotis arvensis] Here are some of the fruitblossoms we came for There we met a flock of sheep and look at the lamb, isn´t it nice? Here are some farmhouses See us playing and having fun in the chaff Passing Leysiefen What a nice walk we had This was my day, love and see You soon Yours Helmut |

Hello Folks,
You remember our tour with the suspension railway in Wuppertal a few weeks ago? Today we discovered one district called Barmen Behind me You can see one station of the railway in old style, called "Werther Brücke" Here is the main road, a part of the A-road B7, called "Höhne" Here between the houses we start our tour through the pedestrian zone A lot of houses were destroyed in WWII, but some survived the bombing See this funny and colourful statues This is the formerly "Hall of fame" , built at the end of the 19th. century. Now its "the house of the youth" and sometimes bands playing there. Here we play with 3 huge bronce turtles. They have their home in the pedestrian zone and are very popular, almost by the kids who want to sit on them. This is the town-hall of barmen, built in the late 20ths of the 20th century And bronce-animals again, but much older, here as colums of large lanterns A bronce spring with lots of typical elements of the textile-industry of Wuppertal some hundred years ago. The valley formerly was called "Manchester of the north" And we met "Tuffi" He is very famous here, in the 50ths he jumped out of the suspension railway and fell into the Wupper. Nothing seriously happend to him This huge place is called "Alter Markt" (Old Market) A last view into the pedestrian zone, the street is called "Werth" This sign shows the distances between Wuppertal and its twintowns A lion, the heraldic animal of the Bergisch Land There our little tour ended and we had a lot of fun This was my day, love and see You soon Yours Helmut |

Early in the morning my friends woke me up singing a birthday song for me And all hugged me Then we went out for searching chocolate-eggs and bunnies hostmum had hidden for us We searched and searched and found many eggs!! Look!! And then I had to search my birthday present my friends had hidden anywhere in the garden! I searched and searched and they said "colder" or "warmer" and after a looooong time I discovered it on a tree!!! My friends helped me climbing up and then I transported it back to the ground very carefully. And guess what, mummy, they gave me an outdoor microscope as a present!! Of course I tried it out immediately...it is great!! HAPPY EASTER, MUMMY!!! Yours Helmut |

Dear mummy,
today morning we went on a cycling tour to Altenbeken, a village next to Neuenbeken. We drove through a nice landscape and reached Altenbeken with it's landmark, the big viaduct. On our way back suddenly a rabbit came towards us. It was Hanna Hops on her way back from her relatives she had visited at Easter. Bernie and Monsti who had got to know her in Jever were very happy to see her again and hugged her. Then we sat together in the bike basket and at river Beke and Hanna told us how happy she was to have a lift back home. Seems to be a nice girl. Yours Helmut |

our first stop on our luxurious train-journey to Rome was Munich. A nice town if you asked me. Suddenly somebody said: "Look, the Peter's place! We've arrived Rome!" But unfortunately in Munich there's such a place as well The Peter's church has got a tower that you're allowed to climb up and of course we did. Great view! After a while we entered the next train, the night train to Rome! The sleeping car invited us to play a bit before having a night meal and then sleeping. Good night, when we'll awake we'll be in Italy Yours Helmut |

In Rome we were very happy to arrive our nice little holiday flat near the Vaticanian wall. After a short time we walked to the city for the first time and were very impressed with the Engelsburg (castle of angels), the Engelsbrücke, the bridge across the river Tiber, the famous Piazza Navona and the very very old Pantheon. Back home we needed some chocolate and felt into bed. That was our first day in the great town Rome. Yours Helmut |

Dear mummy,
today we visited the cathedral St. Peter for the first time. Wow! It looked very great and the place with it's fountains as well. After these impressions we needed a refreshment: Ice cream in Rome! It was so yummy...you can't imagine! Unfortunately it was so warm outside that hostmum took a photo of Mefito only cause it was his life mission. But there'll be another chance of taking an ice-photo I'm sure. Then we visited the famous Trevi fountain. You have to throw a coin over your shoulder into the fountain, that brings luck and let you come back to Rome some time. In the course of a year there are thousands of Euros, Dollars etc. on the ground of the fountain which are for a good cause. On the way back home I saw hibiscus blooming on the ground! No doubt, hibiscus! Back home we sat on the steps in front of our house. The small street is only for pedestrians, very good! That's it for today, good night yours Helmut |

Dear mum,
this morning we studied the map of Rome and tried to decide what to visit today. After three hours we reached an agreement but before starting we needed a refreshment...tea and cookies Then we started to the church St. Giovanni in Laterano with it's very nice inner courtyard. On our way to the famous Colosseum we saw oranges ans a great palmtree! The Colosseum was very impressive just as the Forum Romanum we visited next. But are these places as old as it is said...? No doubt, they are! Back home we had no questions any more... Yours Helmut |

Dear mummy,
guess what, there are bananas in our street!! I love bananas!! And do you know this red blossom? I don't. Yours Helmut |
mcdaniels Posted May 21, 2014, 10:42 am |
Dear mum,
today we went to the basilica San Paolo fuori le Mura. This basilica with it's inner courtyard (with lots of roses )had been built up above the grave of the apostel Paul. Have a look at this great church! Back home we sat together in front of our house and enjoyed the sunny evening. Yours Helmut |

Dear mummy,
today we walked through Rome for visiting the very famous Spanish stairs. Our way leeded us through the via delle Conziliazione, along the river Tevere and through typical narrow streets. And through THE Via die Condotti with it's wickedly expensive shops... On our way I saw a very nice balcony and an unknown blooming plant. Have a look! The Spanish steps looked great but there were so many people that you couldn't see much of it. In the afternoon we went to the basilica St. Peter for entering the tower. Wow! What a sight!!! (And I discovered a flower growing on the tower...) After this long day we were very happy but tired and glad to be back in our street Cliva delle muro Vaticano. 100 hugs, yours Helmut |

Dear mummy,
today we visited the old piramide, built up more than 2000 years ago. Next to the piramide there is the old graveyard of the non-catholic people behind a very tall wall. And of course I discovered some flowers And barley in the middle of Rome! Barley? Yes, no doubt! That's for today. Yours Helmut |

Dear Mummy,
today we took another walk through Rome. We saw some typical houses, some lemon trees, climbed some old steps and saw an observatory from a long way away. And of course I discovered some flowers . Roses next to the street between many cars for example. Through the trees we could throw a glance at Rome. Back on the St. Peter's place we enjoyed the basilica in the evening light. Yours Helmut |

Today we visited the famous park Villa Borghese, a large recreation area in the middle of this big city. At the weekend the park is full of Roman families but on Monday it was really empty.
Next to the entrance there was a nice fountain. In the park there was a lake with little rowing boats and of course we rowed Look at the turtels in the background! After rowing we discovered a nice bike but unfortunately hostparents wanted to walk through the park. We saw many old trees, a fountain and we met Goethe We visited a nice garden, a Sphinx and a sculpture of a very sweet girl...I don't know why Bernie and PinkyHH were enthusiastic about the other sculpture... I discovered a great bloom in orange and purple. Do you know what it is? And of course I discovered some other flowers. On the way back home we saw a typical 'refreshment-car'. Good night! |
mcdaniels Posted May 27, 2014, 6:39 pm |
Dear mummy,
today we visited Trastevere, a very nice district with the real Roman flair. The pictures speak for themselves...Of course I discovered many blooming plants again and some very old trees We walked uphills to the Piazzale Giuseppe Garibaldi and had a fantastic view of the city! And on the way back we discovered a funny cake Yours Helmut |

Dear mum,
today we walked through typical old streets to the Campo de Fiori with it's famous statue of the monk and philosopher Giordano Bruno who had been killed as a heretic in 1600. Then we visited the Isola Tiberina (the island in the middle of river Tevere) and walked back home along the river. And of course I discovered some plants Yours Helmut |

Dear mummy,
today it was Wavy Gravy's birthday, so he could decide where we wanted to go: the botanical garden. Great idea! What a garden!!! We visited the palms, the garden for blind people, the rose garden, wild orchids, the ferns, the bamboos, the Japanese garden, the mediterranean wood, the gymnosperms, mediterranean plants, monumental trees, the medicinical plants and a house full of cactusses. I was in my element Yours very happy Helmut |

Dear mummy,
today it's been our last day in Rome. In the morning we visited our last church (Maria Maggiore) and then hostmum had a surprise for us: Wavy-Gravy-birthday-icecream! Yummy Before we went to the train station we met hundreds of Pinocchios...nice to meet you! And then we got on train. A last look to Rome...it was a great holiday! Byebye and good night! Yours Helmut |

today a small parcel arrived. We were very curious: who could be in? When our friend Lille came into light we were very happy and hugged her. She showed us the small presents she brought with her from Stuttgart and her phenomenal hat. Yours Helmut |

Dear mummy,
today another small parcel arrived! And a nice cow crawled out of it. "Hi, I'm Paulina", she said, "and this is my first journey as a TV." We all introduced ourselves and hugged her. Then she showed us the nice postcard and the sweets she's brought with her. For the rest of the day we sat together talking about TV-life and this and that... Yours Helmut |

Dear mum,
when hostmum was at work today we played hide-and-seek for almost the whole morning. *Nick* had to search first. He counted to 100 and we others looked for good hiding places. Have a look! Then *Nick* started to search...and after a long time he found one after the other apart from Frederik. Though Frederik hadn't a real hiding place he wasn't found cause he's so small nobody can see him when he sits somewhere... We played and played cause everybody had to search alternately. It was a great morning!!! Yours Helmut |

Holá Friends,
today we vistited the old town of La Laguna The complete name of the town officially is "San Christobal de La Laguna", but everybody here calls the city "Laguna" Lots of very old houses I saw there, the inner city was built in the 16th and 17th century, when Laguna was the formerly capitol of Tenerife. One of the oldest churches here, the cathedral of La Laguna This is an interesting example of a typical canarian house with an inner patio Here we held a rest before we went to the market halls At the market halls I looked for something to eat or drink for our planned picknic tomorrow on sunday See tomorrow, what the other TV´s had found for our picknic See You soon and love You, Yours Helmut |
Strunki strunki1259@web.de Posted Jan 19, 2015, 8:35 pm |
On Sunday we went to the sunny south and spend some lazy hours at the nice harbour of Güinmar. In the afternoon we found a nice place and held, like the canary people on sunday often do, a picknic Yesterday at the market I have chosen some yummy tomatoes The round brown slice is Gofio , a typical canary specialty of the native Canarians, the Guanches We had a very nice sunday picknic |

Holá Friends,
today we made a small trip down to the old town of Puerto de la Cruz and to the Promenade. We started at the old harbour Here at the harbour we met an well known friend of good old störte We went on and came to Plaza del Charco Here we came to a very old church of Puerto, it is called Nuestra Señora de la Peña de Francia and was built in the 17th century. The so called Plaza de la Iglesia is similar to a little park In the middle of the place You find a spring with a swan Can You imagine, why this is my favourite place? Yes, here blooms my favourite blossom: The Plumeria A good example for the typical canarian architecture, mainly the wooden balconies Near the promenade, the sea is very rough today From here You have a good sight of the swimming pools of Lago Martianez Look, Bananas, in the middle of a Town We found them at the[url=Ermitá de San Telmo] http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/San_Telmo_%28Puerto_de_la_Cruz%29 [/url] Here ended our tour while we rested in a red and yellow Aloe That´s all for today, love and see You soon, Yours Helmut |

But the main attraction finally here is the sculpture of a sitting woman in the middle of the main spring This was our excursion through the park. Love and see You soon, Yours Helmut |
