Currently I'm still at home and hanging out with my friend Susie who is 25 year old and much loved teddybear.
Mickey is also around. But the best thing to at this time of the day is: to watch the sunset. Since it is getting dark I have to go to bed soon. Good night everyone. |
Susie's Posted Jul 28, 2012, 3:09 pm |
Today I went with my mom to see where see works.
Since we had to get up so early, first thing mom needed in the morning was a good cup of coffee. At her office I even answered the phone once. I got a bit bored there so I played hide and seek. After work we went groceries shopping. Unfortunately we can not do much more today because it's raining and doesn't show signs of stopping. :-( |
Susie's Posted Jul 29, 2012, 5:51 pm |
Since the weather was much better today, we went for a bike ride along the river Main.
I even got to ride the ferry! Twice! That was so cool! And now I'm relaxing on the balcony. :-) |
Susie's Posted Aug 4, 2012, 8:37 pm |
Today Mom made me do girl stuff. I had to go go shopping with her! ALL DAY! *roll eyes*
We were at a Mall calles Loop 5. Loop because the building itself has a loop shape and 5 because it is right next to the Autobahn(highway) 5. Since it also close to the airport it has all kinds of airplane decoration inside. The Loop 5 is the biggest mall in the area. |
Susie's Posted Aug 5, 2012, 8:30 pm |
Since I was such a good boy yesterday and was so patient with Mom and her shopping I got a reward today.
We went to Frankfurt and I got to ride the tramways, the bus, the subway and a train. We also went to see a freight depot (were they load giant containers on trains) but since today was sunday noone was at work and nothing was going on but i was still an interesting place. Besides that we were at the main station of Frankfurt and I got to see different types of trains(the white and red one is highspeed ICE train). And after that we even went to a fair that right by the river Main (that's why it's called Mainfest). With lot's of carousels and all kinds of other rides, popcorn and tons of sweets everywhere. Today was so much fun. And now we are back at home and I should start to get my stuff together because by the end of this week I will start my first journey and head out towards Sweden. :-) |
Susie's Posted Aug 8, 2012, 8:53 pm |
I will start my first journey tomorrow! Tomorrow!
I am soooooo excited! But Mom tells I'm a bit too excited and that I need to come down. She said I ate row pasta for breakfast, that I kept running around in circles all day, that I ran to my envelope every half hour to make sure I packed all my stuff and that I asked her about a 100 times what day is today and what day is tomorrow and if I'm really leaving tomorrow (can't remember half of that stuff). Did I mention that I go to Sweden? I hope that I won't be for too long in that envelope. But now I have to go to bed and try to get some sleep. Poschti |
Susie's Posted Aug 9, 2012, 8:24 pm |
Alright! Today is the day! I left my home in Germany.
Everyone said goodbye to me and gave me hugs. Goodbye Mom! I'll miss you. But now I'm going to Swden! |
Fisi Posted Aug 13, 2012, 6:50 pm |
Muuum, mum mum mum mum!
I´m here! I´m alive! And I finally got out of my bag. Aaah I´m so excited! Sorry for all the !!! but can you believe it? I am in Sweden. The mailman or how they are called just pushed me into the mail slot, but I was too fat. So I hung outside and no one came. Finally I met Fisi, she wanted to go out when she saw me hanging outside. Back in, hush hush. Klöver was really waiting behind the door. And we are looking forward to eat the nice chocolate, they look so cute. Fisi says thank you Now it´s dinner time, have a good evening mummy and don´t miss me too much, I´m fine here |
Fisi Posted Aug 15, 2012, 8:52 pm |
Hej hej,
I begin to talk swedish here And I´m soon a great handyman! As Klöver told us before, her mum is renovating the kitchen. So the last two days we went to Ikea, to paintstores and we choose a new wallpaper for the little corner. It´s all yellow, like me. My hostmum will have a Postauto kitchen So basically we sat in the cellar or the kitchen and sanded, painted and fixed things. Today we made a new box for candles out of crap, Klöver and me helped a lot, that´s why it´s all yellow now My front wheels hurt now from all the work. After we enjoyed a beer on the balcony and hostmum promised me, that we leave town over the weekend. I also met Valentine, the donkey. Fisi bought him free from a fleamarket last saturday and put him into the freezer for three days because of the fleas. Or was it mites? He´s a funny guy and we had a great guys evening. But now I´m really tired and have to go to sleep. Puss Poschti |

Hi mom!
Here I am. Sorry that we don´t make a lot of funny pics. Actually we went out after all the work but didn´t made any pics. Friday night, here we came. Or so. Hostdad´s brother is a DJ and we went to visit him at work. Unfortunately he works only after 11pm which was a bit late for me. However, I had some drinks and on saturday morning they went to the fleamarket without me... my world was still spinning. Sorry mum! but you know how it is if you get away from your mum for the first time Later that day we left for the summerhouse. While shopping we saw a sign saying "American car show". We were quite late and when we came there everyone was leaving. But the great thing was: All the wonderful cars were leaving! We didnt pay any entry fee, just sat at the street and watched all the beauties drive away. Mum, I fell in love with a red corvette stingray. She was sooooo beautiful, I almost got driven over because I fell down from my little standing point. Before my accident I managed to take a bad pic. And some others. But it was too dangerous for me, I´m so little and the big boys and girls made burnouts and showed off. After we went out to the summerhouse, there it is very nice and quiet, in the middle of the forest. I´ve seen a fox, a deer and an owl. I liked the owl very much. In the end just some pics from the summerhouse. I hope we go out there again Fisi also promised to show me around Uppsala this week. Have a good monday! Poschti |
Fisi Posted Aug 21, 2012, 3:06 pm |
Hello
Mum, I ate all the chocolate you sent alone I´m a bad Poschtauto. I´m very sorry. Fisi said that chocolate helps against everything. So I sat around, eating chocolate and thinking of Corvette. Mum, can I see her again? Please! *Begging* And of course the weather was always nice, but not today when we wanted to make a little citytrip. So we just drove up to the slott, then it began to rain and we went home again. The big dark church you see in the back is the highest in Scandinavia! So long, miss you a little Poschti |
Fisi Posted Aug 23, 2012, 8:53 pm |
Hi mum,
Just wanted to say hello Today Sheela arrived. So we have a little welcome party right now. It was raining the hole day, we did nothing. Fisi wants to go to town with us tomorrow and buy a new bag for Klöver and then Klöver will start her journey next monday. I will miss her, she is really cool. But on the other hand I know, that you have someone nice around again and maybe don´t miss me too much. Have a good night mum |
Fisi Posted Aug 24, 2012, 7:56 pm |
Hallo Mama
Today it rained again In the evening we went out to buy things for the bees and decided, to have a picnic. But it rained while we drove. In the end we were happy and could eat without heavy rain. It was a nice and quiet evening with my new friends. here some impressions for you. Wish you a good weekend. Poschti |
Fisi Posted Aug 28, 2012, 10:37 am |
Tüüüü daaaa doooooo!
It rained. It´s raining. It will rain. *sigh* The grillparty on saturday was inside, the grill outside and wet. We couldn´t make honey on sunday, because it was raining. So only a few pics. The orange monster with us at the waterpump is Gullan, hostdad´s mum´s cat. The waterpump is the only watersource in the summerhouse. Good that it rained the hole weekend, we put the dirty dishes just outside and waited After a 20min walk in the forest we had over a half kilo mushrooms and that gave us a great dinner on sunday! That´s it for now.. Hope the weather will get better somewhen. Puss Poschti |
Fisi Posted Aug 28, 2012, 10:47 am |
Today was exciting. We wrote a card for you! And Klöver is now on her way to visit you. I hope she will not tell you all the embarassing little secrets fromt the last week.
And maybe she will have better weather with you. In the south *giggles* But I really liked it with Klöver, it was fun, we three swiss here in Sweden. Now only two swiss left. But we love each other *nods* ääää hostmum says I shoulndt talk that much. So here you have a rainbow, may it bring luck to everyone. (at least something beautiful out of all the rain) Valentine helped Klöver in the bag. Tell us fast when she arrived that we know she´s safe. Många hälsningar Poschti |
Fisi Posted Aug 29, 2012, 8:15 pm |
Hey Mum,
As we finally finished the tile wall in the kitchen, we decided to celebrate and bake a bread. I had of course no idea how to, Sheela knew only muffins and Fisi had no clue either. We choose a swiss bread, a "Bärner Ankezüpfe". In the end it turned out ok and tasted nice. We miss Klöver a bit, but she is now safely with you. Greet her from all of us! Have a good evening, Poschti |
Fisi Posted Sep 3, 2012, 10:59 am |
Hoi Mami,
The weekend was great! It rained the hole friday and saturday without a single stop. So we renovated more in the kitchen, sat around and read books. On saturday night we drove out to the summerhouse in the hope that it will be okay weather on sunday. At midnight we saw a very bright fullmoon in a colorful sky, absolutely beautiful and it wasn´t raining! Sunday morning was still a bit sad, Sheela and me sat on the bench and watched out on the meadow. But even the animals stayed home. Then we went to pick mushrooms. Hostmum hast more than a kilo "trattkantareller", A kind of a cantarell which tastes very nice. Sheela and me just picked random mushrooms and after we sat at the table and tried to figure out what we picked. Wasn´t that easy. The big moment came! I landed in a plasticbag and went to the beehives. Then I helped hostmum and dad to steal the honey from the bees. They were really kind and friendly, but the bag was needed because bees do not like hair or fur and try to sting it. I didnt wanted to be stung and also not to kill bees. After that we began to make honey, it was interesting and smelled sooo nice I wish I could have jumped in the pot. We were home very late and I slept deep and long. No we go to the library. Have a good start in the new week mum Love Poschti |
Fisi Posted Sep 9, 2012, 10:31 pm |
Hi Mommy,
It was a lazy week. A lot of rain, wind and cold. Like the summer wanted to make clear that it is gone now. Today we met a lot of funny and goodlooking insects and a frog. The frog was really cute and friendly. As far as frogs can be friendly. After hanging out in the garden and checking on the bees we went to the forest to pick mushrooms. When we came back we found tracks outside the garden. So we followed them and found very fresh eeeehm moose shit. But no moose We relaxed a bit in the garden and drove home. And on the way home, we saw it! A moose! I couldnt go out of the car and hostmum had the big tele on the cam, so I'm not on the picture. But I want you to see it It was an impressive one, even the antlers were quite small. I have seen a mooooose *sing* So, we are all very tired and go to bed soon. I hope, I will be able to show you a bit more next week. Schlaf gut Mama Kisses Poschti |
Fisi Posted Sep 17, 2012, 7:48 pm |
Hi Mum
Finally we made it. It was a short week with a lot of work. I had to paint wrap gifts, clean the kitchen, bring supplies to the summerhouse (on the way back we have seen a lappuggla, a wonderful bird) help to make plans about the dinner and so on. Then it began to rain again, i dont know, its very windy and wet all the time. We sometimes can´t go out for several days. However, the weekend was nice. Hostmum was preparing grillspett and dips and salads, so hostdad´s daughter took us around and made handypictures. Unfortunately most of them can´t be watched. Horrible We found some useful ones. The Party was nice, we had little candle bags and lanterns standing everywhere outside and hanging in the trees, the nightsky was bright and together with all the candles it looked like out of a fairytale. The weather is really stormy at the moment, I hope, it will be better this week as hostmum has for once a lot of time to spend with us. But if we can´t go out So, now I show you the horrible handypics We read a "raggarbiltidning", those are this old american cars, we helped cooking and decorating the table and visited the garden. Now I must rest Hope to show you more very soon. Kisses Poschti |

Hej Mamma
Today we finally went to see the church. As it rained yesterday and today after being outside for a short while we just drove there and lucky as we are, the sun came out. Gamla Uppsala is a place with a very long history, if you believe rumours, even Odin and Thor were there once. We didnt took it so serious and hopped into the viking boat. We are quite small and I guess the viking kids played maybe with swords rather than plushies. We visited the church and tried to open the oak barrel, there was the wine stored in the old days. Of course, in the middle of the church I couldn´t behave and made a loud "Tüüüü¨daaaa dooo" and turned red while Fisi began to laugh. People must have thought we´re all insane. Outside we visited a rune stone and the gravehills. After we went home again and it began to rain.... Puss och har det så bra Poschti |
Fisi Posted Sep 25, 2012, 9:38 am |
Hallo Welt,
It´s still bad weather, I begin to believe that they never have more than some hours of sun in a row. That´s why we stayed home this weekend and worked in the kitchen. Fisi´s mum is coming soon and until then we have to be finished... but when Fisi´s mum is coming, we will hopefully also do some cool stuff as she is also a tourist. So. This weekend we put up a new wallpaper. It´s a really really cool one, I´m a bit jealous and now I wish to sit in the kitchen all day long But to put it up wasn´t that easy, we had to cut and measure and find points in the picture to put the next row right. I think we did it nicely, no? Next time they plan to take out the floor and put in a nice oak floor. I think it will look stunning and Fisi can´t wait to see the end results. So, Hostmum is finally charging the little cam and in the afternoon we will go to the library and maybe to town. If it isn´t raining... And next weekend we will also do something cool she said..but she did not wanted to tell us... (my secret dreams are that we go to an other american car meeting and that I will see the Corvette again) aaah now Fisi is laughing at me and said we will go more than only 50 years back in time... I show you the wallpaper now. *sigh* Ta hand om dig! Poschti |

Hi Mum,
Just a short update today, I´m a bit tired. Here you can see me and Sheela walk around Uppsala Of course the Domkyrka was exactly then closed for public when we came there. And we fooled all the ducks. Fisi put us both on the floor to make pics and then aaaaall the ducks came and talked and and and. They wanted food! Cheeky little fellows. Fisi told us that in winter, the hole pond is filled with ducks. Theres only one little hole in the pond which people cut out of the ice and there isn´t a free cm witout ducks. so, pics now and a god natt |

Hi there (:
Hope you had a good weekend. We had a great one. On friday Fisi, Hostdads daughter, Sheela and me went to Stockholm. In the morning we went shopping, then we had lunch and the afternoon we spent in the tekniska museet and watched also a 4d movie. Stockholm has a lot of very big stores, a lot of green and trees, a lot of water and a lot of tourists I thought the castle is quite sad looking. I mean, if I would live in a castle, surely it woulndt be that one. But the guards outside were funny We made one smile First Sheela approached him which confused him quite a bit I think and when he saw me coming he had to laugh. The weather was of course not good and we all got wet. Ah and the funniest thing (except the guard) was a game in tekniska museet called : Brain Ball. We had to put on headbands which measured our brainwaves and the one who could concentrate better or keep the waves really low would move to ball to the others goal. Sheela won! My brain wouldnt stop spinning! Can you believe that? Fisi watched us with growing eyes and then burst out laughing. I don´t know why... Have a good holiday mum! Make some pictures for us Missing you Poschti |

Hej Mum,
Just wanted to present you the pics of the weekend! More are following in the evening. Kiss, enjoy your trip |
Fisi Posted Oct 5, 2012, 3:45 pm |
Me again! Now comes the rest from the weekend
We were in Skansen , an outdoor museum mixed with an animal park. It´s a really great place, easy to reach in Stockholms heart. You have to visit it when you´re once in Stockholm! With me! Please! Almost better than the American Car Show, only almost. Instead of a hot corvette they only had a lame horse coach. Naa fine. I like horses. Everyone like horses. But in the Corvette are much more horses than in one horse *nods* äää what I wanted to say is that Skansen is great, I could feed cute little birds as you have seen, Sheela got kissed by a squirrel, we have seen all big animals which live in Sweden and we ate nice waffle. All in all we had a great weekend. Now I will go and watch Fisi work, her mum comes soon and she has to clean up Enjoy tour time in almost Switzerland! Poschti |
Fisi Posted Oct 23, 2012, 3:16 pm |
Hej Mum, sorry that we didnt update for so long, but Fisi was really busy, school now and she got a national test on very short notice. In addition to really bad weather since weeks; good that I'm used to that now
So, we spent a day in Gävle, thats maybe 100km in the north of Uppsala. Its famous for its old town, which is really small, but also really cute. Luckily it rained not the hole day. After visiting the town we went to a shopping center, the weather wasn't so great. On the way home we saw several rainbows, they are so beautiful. Here some pics... Kisses Tüüüüü daaaa dooo |
Fisi Posted Oct 23, 2012, 3:24 pm |
Me again.... I was also at the sea! Naa we drive over a little piece of sea all the time when we go to the summerhouse, so i have seen it before. But we never made pictures. Now I have some It may not be the biggest ocean on the world, but it's clearly the seaaaaa *sing*
So äää we were in Öregrund, a little village just close bz the summerhouse. Weather was of course shitty, so not much to do and see. We also visited the first xmas market, but it was more of a craft and farmer market. Everyone bought something. I got some fish (It was inside, that's also a reason to go if it's raining all the time) After we visited a iron mine, Dannemora. All the black stone behind me contains iron. More comes later Poschti |
Fisi Posted Oct 28, 2012, 9:13 pm |
Hej Mummy,
Last week we have been on a car trip to Dalarna. Car because it rained the hole day. Dalarna is in the east of Sweden and very nice with little hills and so on. Or it would be in sunshine We have seen the biggest dalahäst in Sweden, around 13m high. On the way home we made a walk into Gysinge, a huge nature reserve with a lot of water and birds and beavers. Weather wasnt great, but the place is. Wonderful. Now my time in Sweden is over and Im on my way to Finnland. I liked it very much here, despite the bad weather. Fisi and me had a great time, but Im also looking forward to see you somewhen again? Kisses from Sweden Poschti (and greetings from Fisi) |

We enjoyed a sunny day in the mountains. It was fantastic. I went to Melchsee-Frutt. Melchsee-Frutt is located at 1,920 metres above sea level and belongs to the municipality of Kerns in Canton Obwalden. The sunny high plateau has been a historic health resort (since 1865) and continues to enchant visitors with its stunning scenery, unspoilt nature and Alpine world with an idyllic mountain lake. It's fantastic for skiing or just walking.
This brand-new gondolas opened last December. Wow, have you seen the big elevator? It's also new. ...I almost get fear of heights The cable car to Bonistock. ...just enjoy the wonderful mountains. ...the weather was perfect! |

We enjoyed a weekend in Davos. My hostmother went skiing.
I just had a look around. Let's show what I discovered: The famous Ice-Hockey stadium. It's called the "Vaillant Arena". The sign of the HCD (Hockey Club Davos). Look, wonderful weather! So beautiful! The Davos Congress Centre. The latest extension has made the Davos Congress Centre one of the alp’s most modern congress venues. Up to 5,000 attendees can come together and benefit from the ideal infrastructure. There are 34 high-tech rooms for 20 to 1,800 people. Every year, the WEF (The World Economic Forum is an independent international organization committed to improving the state of the world by engaging business, political, academic and other leaders of society to shape global, regional and industry agendas) is in Davos. The wonderful bridge on the way to Davos. |

Hi Mum, I'm going to a special trip... Let's go to Singapore!
|
dawoni Posted Apr 10, 2013, 8:24 am |
Happy Easter!
|
dawoni Posted Apr 10, 2013, 8:40 am |
First, we visited the Gardens by the Bay. The Gardens by the Bay is a park spanning 101 hectares (250 acres) of reclaimed land in central Singapore, adjacent to the Marina Reservoir. The park consists of three waterfront gardens: Bay South Garden, Bay East Garden and Bay Central Garden. Gardens by the Bay is an integral part of a strategy by the Singapore government to transform Singapore from a "Garden City" to a "City in a Garden". The stated aim is to raise the quality of life by enhancing greenery and flora in the city.
Urrrg, please help meeeee! In the Chinese Garden with the famous hotel in the background. Supertrees are tree-like structures that dominate the Gardens' landscape with heights that range between 25 metres (82 ft) and 50 metres (160 ft). They are vertical gardens that perform a multitude of functions, which include planting, shading and working as environmental engines for the gardens. The view from the highest Supertree: The hotel "Marina Bay Sands" The financial district. The Ocean, called The Singapore Strait. The Singapore Flyer. The Singapore Flyer is a giant Ferris wheel in Singapore that was constructed between 2005 and 2008. Described by its operators as an observation wheel, it reaches 42 stories high, with a total height of 165 m (541 ft), making it the tallest Ferris wheel in the world, 5 m (16 ft) taller than the Star of Nanchang and 30 m (98 ft) taller than the London Eye. Singapore people don't walk... |

We went to Sentosa today. Sentosa is a popular island resort in Singapore, visited by some five million people a year. Attractions include a 2 km long sheltered beach, Fort Siloso, two golf courses, two five-star hotels, and the Resorts World Sentosa, featuring the theme park Universal Studios Singapore.
Sentosa can be reached from the Singapore mainland via a short causeway or Cable Car, which originates from Mount Faber and passes through HarbourFront en route to its final destination. ...we took the Cable Car. Welcome to Siloso Beach It's nice, isn't it? Funny people! I've never seen it before...! They enjoy a ride on a luge. Originally from New Zealand, the non-motorised cart allows rider to speed down a hill over a course of 650 m ending at the Siloso Beach. At the end of the luge, there is the Skyride that can allow rider to see from a high view. It also can be boarded at the start of the Luge. |

The fantastic view from the Marina Bay Sands hotel.
Let's take a bath... Wonderful! In the hotel lobby. ...I need a break now! The Merlion (Malay: Singa-Laut) is a mythical creature with the head of a lion and the body of a fish, used as a mascot and national personification of Singapore. Its name combines "mer" meaning the sea and "lion". The fish body represents Singapore's origin as a fishing village when it was called Temasek, which means "sea town" in Javanese. The lion head represents Singapore's original name — Singapura — meaning "lion city" or "kota singa". The symbol was designed by Alec Fraser-Brunner, a member of the Souvenir Committee and curator of the Van Kleef Aquarium, for the logo of the Singapore Tourism Board in use from 26 March 1964 to 1997 and has been its trademarked symbol since 20 July 1966. Although the STB changed their logo in 1997, the STB Act continues to protect the Merlion symbol. Approval must be received from STB before it can be used. The Merlion appears frequently on STB-approved souvenirs. The merlion— a mythical creature with the body of a fish and the head of a lion— occurs in a number of different artistic traditions. Lions with fishtails can be found on Indian murals at Ajanta and Mathura, and on Etruscan coins of the Hellenistic period. Merlions, or ‘heraldic sea- lions’, are an established element of Western heraldry, and have been used on the coat of arms of the cities of Portsmouth and Great Yarmouth in the United Kingdom; the City of Manila; and the East India Company. It's time for a boat roundtrip. Biiig houses... The bulidung behind the trees has got many colorful windows. Financial district. |

We visited the Sri Mariamman Temple. The Sri Mariamman Temple is Singapore's oldest Hindu temple. It is an agamic temple, built in the Dravidian style. Located at 244 South Bridge Road, in the downtown Chinatown district, the temple serves mainly South Indian Tamil Hindu Singaporeans in the city-state. Due to its architectural and historical significance, the temple has been gazetted a National Monument and is a major tourist attraction. Sri Mariamman Temple is managed by the Hindu Endowments Board, a statutory board under the Ministry of Community Development, Youth and Sports.
The Sri Mariamman Temple was founded in 1827 by Naraina Pillai, eight years after the East India Company established a trading settlement in Singapore. Pillai was a government clerk from Penang who arrived in Singapore with Sir Stamford Raffles on his second visit to the island in May 1819. Pillai went on to set up the island's first construction company, and also entered the textile trade. He rapidly established himself in business and was identified as a leader of the Indian community. |

The Buddha Tooth Relic Temple and Museum is a Buddhist temple and museum complex located in the Chinatown district of Singapore.
"The temple is based on the Tang dynasty architectural style and built to house the tooth relic of the historical Buddha. The ground breaking ceremony was conducted on 13 March 2005. Costing S$62 million and 2 years later, a soft launch was held to coincide with the 2007 Vesak Day celebration." It is claimed that the relic of Buddha from which it gains its name was found in 1980 in a collapsed stupa in Myanmar. Since opening, the temple has become a popular attraction within Chinatown. Simple vegetarian fare is served in the basement of the temple, though donations are accepted. |

Hello, mom! A tight hug to you!
And a tight hug also to my prior host Dawoni I´m at last here in Portugal, with my new host! Well, I´ve already been almost two weeks in Portugal, but I was sitting all the time inside my envelope in the Laranjeiro post office. What waste of time! But I was trusting my luck and I was sure my travel would still continue! The trouble was, I started to be a bit hungry.. So.. I hope you don´t mind that I ate part of the choc eggs in my envelope! At last today morning my envelope was moved again, and I could here a very pissed of voice cursing with a shaky Portuguese the whole post office personal, and then I was carried here to the new hostmoms home in Portugal. I could hear many little paws ripping my envelope open impatiently, and small voices shouting "Be fast now! He has been inside for weeks!" "Gosh, I hope he is all right!" "What if he is not? Can anyone do artificial breathing?" "I can, but he is a male, uch!" "Camoon! Just open the envelope!" And when the envelope opened the first thing I saw was many worried little faces peeping in. Then I rolled out and they all seemed relieved that I was ok. We introduced ourselves, and now I´m going to introduce my new friends to you too: On my left side are Nocino from Italy, Tuli, who is my new hosts own voyager and Zoe, who comes originally from California, but who is now adopted by my new host. On my right side are Squab from Germany and Tiger Lilly, who is also from Germany. Then I gave them what was left of the eggs, but I didn´t have time to hide the empty wrappings, and I could see they were staring them, and I blushed. "Umm, I was hungry.." I said, shuffling my wheels. They all started to giggle and said "Off course you were, poor thing!" "Don´t you be at all ashamed! I have sometimes done that too.." said Squab. Then they all gave me such a big hug that you cannot even see me in middle of it! I was then introduced to the other members of the family. Here is Emilia, an 8 months old little girl saved form the street. And here is Olivia, a year old young lady, also saved from the street. She licked my cheek a bit. All my new friends seem to be very nice people! Then, since I was hinting that I was still rather hungry, and the others didn´t have anything against a small snack either, we sneaked to the kitchen and robbed the fridge and the larder.. I picked a bag of strawberries. And very delicious cookies! And then we heard some heavy, clearly human steps, and in our hurry we picked a bit this and a bit that.. tuna cans, more cookies, oranges, kiwis and sweets.. I really don´t know what Tuli was thinking of doing with the lemon, maybe she just panicked. Anyway, we carried our loot fast away.. And then we hide inside the cats playbox to have a secret orgy! We ate every single thing but the lemon! The cats promised not to tell anyone, and I hope my new host doesn´t read this update either! Ha ha! See you soon! I think I´m going to have fun with this gang! Your Poschti |

Bom dia, mãe amada!
Yesterday I was walking around in my new surroundings to see where I have landed. Laranjeiro, where we live here, is part of a town called Almada. We are on the southern shore of the river Tejo, while the capitol city of Lisbon is on the northern side, just opposite us. This is what I see from our balcony here. Nowadays this is a very densely populated, urban area, but it was not so long time ago when Laranjeiro was still a rural village, full of farms, orchyards and small houses, told Henna. So, I wanted to go out to see myself. But first we had to have some breakfast. Cannot go out starving.. This type of small cup of strong coffee is called "bica", and it is what most portuguese people have for breakfast. I of course want to learn some local habits. You can see the house where we live behind my back. Our yard was full of blooming white clover! The house is quite near to the main avenue of Laranjeiro, and after turning round the corner of the house, there we were. Along the avenue runs a vehicle, which is something between a tram and a metro. It is called the metro upon the earth. I was waving to it when it passed by and it winked a headlight to me! For my great joy I saw that the local teenagers have some taste choosing their objects of art! What could be more uplifting than Yellow Vehicles ? As you can see it is full summer here already. Even in these urban surroundings there is wild flowers everywhere where there is an area without tarmac, and even if there is a small crack in it, there is sure to be some weed sprouting up trough it and making the crack wider as it grows. Of course for the local people this is only the spring - the summer here is so hot that the nature and the landscape turns quite brown and grey. But I´m really enjoying this little shortcut into summer! Specially because I know soon I´ll be going backwards again, so to say, to Finland, where the spring is still only looming behind the corner. Here everything is so green, and the earth itself smells of fresh growth! We came for a small park growing pinheiros (pinjas). In the autumn it is possible to collect the pinja cones from the earth or climbe to the trees to get them and eat the delicious seeds inside them. I want to share with you the miracle of all the different flowers I saw! I just became so delighted seeing (and smelling) them! Early poppies were popping up everywhere! Ha ha. These daisies I want to give to you, mom. I don´t know what these blue flowers are, but they were so beautiful I was just laying on my back in middle of them and watching the sky framed by them and enjoying myself. I think my motor started to purr out of pure pleasure. Zoe asked if I happen to have any cats amongst my foreparents. The judas trees were in their most gorgeous bloom too. Here they are called "olaias". I think that if I weren´t a toyvoyager, the next best thing in the world to be would be a bee. Just think of that, mom! Flying from flower to flower whole summer! Along the smaller streets I saw still some old buildings as reminders of the more rural past, but sadly they are disappearing fast. The Portuguese countryside is emptying and all people are packing to the towns, and high blocks of flats are inviding all free space, and old buildings are demolished to make more room. I think it is a bit sad.. We came back to the main street, and I used the opportunity to grow my muscles with the gym equipment planted along it. Soon I´ll be the fittest little postbus in the world. Haha, do you know how Portuguese people say "bus"? There is two options: "o autocarro" or " a camionette"! I think they both sound rather cute! I dropped some postcards into a letterbox. I spent some time chatting with some autocarros or camionettes inside a big bus terminal, where they sleep during the nights. Then I spent some hours driwing in a playtruck which I managed to turn on with a safety-pin instead of an euro. When I had got enough the sun was already setting. Can you see the moon over the palm tree? I saw lots of posters about the 25th of April, which is here the day of the Carnation revolution, which ended the long dictatorship. There is going to be huge demonstrations in Lisbon on that day, and I´m going to take part! I passed a fountain. It must be nice to run trough it on the hot summer days! And then there was suddenly a priest with some sheep, and he asked what on earth is such a little autocarro doing out so late at night. He told me to go home and have my dinner. And so I did. We had a delicious Portuguese dish of beans and codfish with spenach, and wonderful olives, of course! The olives come from the yard of the parents of Hennas Portuguese friend, with whom we are living here. I hope you could taste them too! Até breve! O teu autocarro pequeno |

Boa tarde, mãe! Guten abend, mutter!
How are you? I´m enjoying myself, seeing new places and such. On wednesday I made a sightseeing walking trip in Lisbon, and I´ll put here some photos so you can see too. To get to Lisbon we have to take a little ferry in Cacilhas over the river Tejo. There was an old lighthouse, and I wanted to see it a bit closer up. Here it is. Well, it is very big and umm, very red. Our ferry is there, the cute orange colored one. They are called "cacilheiros". Tere is lots of people who live in the southern bank of the river and work in Lisbon on the northern bank and use the ferries for commuting, so there is a ferry in every 10 or 20 minutes. Here I´m just entering the ferry. "Hello, little bus!" said the ferry. "Nice to see you!" "Hello, cacilheiro!" answered I. "Good day to you!" Very polite, the local vehicles. There was lots of people inside, going to Lisbon too, but I managed to got a window seat after playing my postbus -tune for a man and staring at him. I was watching trough the window the Lisbon gliding nearer and nearer. (Yes, all right, all right.. Zoe here wants to make clear that it was us gliding nearer the town of Lisbon, not the town gliding nearer to us.. ) In Lisbon, we started our sightseeing in the city hall square, "Praça do Município". The architecture of the city seemed to be a happy mix of this and that, and there was narrow little alleys running to every direction. I decided to dive onto some of them. So, soon I was in maze of wild architecture. Most of the houses were painted with bright colours, although many were very faded. The clothes hanging on lines from window to window made the streetview to look very joyful. We climbed many many stairs. Some narrow alleys were full of potplants put there by the people living in the houses. It is mainly old grannies taking care of the plants, and also of the innumerous amount of streetcats living on these alleys. There is water- and foodbowls put out for them in front of most doors. Some walls were paved with azulejos, "tiles", like the blue and white wall behind my back in this photo. It is a custom the portuguese people learned from the moors who occupied Iberia in mediaeval times. I saw also many empty houses. Some of them were very beautiful, and some of them had rather imaginative graffitis. These paintings show Portuguese carneval figures called caretos. Their roots are somewhere deep in the prehistorical times, and originally they have to do with the opposite forces of summer and winter, tamed fields and wild nature and the worlds of living and the dead. Pretty cool! There was palm trees growing unexpectedly in some small nooks. I rather liked the old parts of the city of Lisbon. I would not have much against living here.. Then we popped out of the maze and came onto another square. I saw many yellow buses and trams and they were honking their horns to me! "Hello, little cousin!" they honked. "Wellcome to Lisbon!" It seems that yellow is the colour of all public transport here. Shows very good taste, don´t you think? There was a man selling delicious looking strawberries from a cart. I stand there drooling, and the nice guy gave me one strawberry for free, because I´m so cute! Nice folks these people of Lisbon! I even saw a qiosque clearly meant for me! We walked onwards trough the turist filled areas. Up over the sea of houses, mom, you can see Castelo de São Jorge. The first castle on the site was built on stone age, about 6000 years BC, and after that The hill was used by indigenous Celtic tribes, then by Phoenicians, Greeks, and Carthaginians, by Roman, Suebic, Visigothic, and Moorish peoples. The castle remains we can see nowadays are from the moorish period and from the times after the area of Lisbon had been reinvaded by the christian forces, when the castle served as the residence of some early Portuguese kings. Then I saw some of the old Lisbon trams and almost fell in love with them. They are so cute! Just look at this beauty! SO nice color too! Could you imagine she has been serving people from the year 1901? Well, she has! What a girl! This is Elevador de Santa Justa. It has been serving people for a long time too, from the year 1902, saving their legs from many steep stairs, but it is not so cute as the trams! It takes people from Baixa to the Chiado, which is a part of the town high up on one of the seven hills over which the city has been built. In this photo you can see the bridge along which people can walk from the top of the elevator to the Chiado, which is a very popular area to go to shopping or to spend the evening. Then we came onto a beautiful square called Rossio. It has been an important place since the medieval times. All the demonstrations, rebels and revolutions have started here, and it is still a popular meeting place. The beautiful fountain is a popular place to take a bath on summertime amongst the drunken teenagers. The police goes to fish them out about every half an hour. This is the national theatre, and it is situated on one side of the square. We walked along a very beautiful boulevard called Avenida de Liberdade (The Avenue of Freedom). It had wonderfull trees and pools and little benches to sit on. All the benches were occupied, though. But we sat on a fence. Our little legs were already a bit tired. But we climbed still to sit on a nice viewpoint called Portas do Sol (The gates of the Sun) and watch over the Tejo, where the ships were sliding slowly by. Then we came back home, but on thursday we went again to Lisbon, and I´ll tell you about that tomorrow. Hug from your little Poschti! |

Bom dia de novo, mamã!
How are you? I´m going to tell you now about 25.4, which is a big day in Portugal. 25.4 is the day of the Carnation revolution, which ended the bloody dictature in Portugal in the year 1974. On that day everyone eats a good lunch before heading to take part of the huge festivities. So we made food too. Here we are cleaning different vegetables. We boiled potatoes, cawliflower, carrots and green beans, and then we grilled salmon. It smelled so good I could hardly wait it to be ready! We poured olive oil and squeezed lemon over the dishes and then we ate! While eating our Portuguese host told us that the meaning of the good lunch on this day is also to remind people of the fact that during the dictatorship there were people starving in Portugal. This is a very typical dish to have here when there is a reason to celebrate. It was really delicious! After the lunch we went again to Lisbon, which was already full of celebrating people with carnations. I was also given one! People were all heading to the Marquês de Pombal square, from where we marched to the Rossio. It was really impressive, mom! They told in radio there was about 800 000 people marching! I could only see that the sea of people and carnations looked a neverending mass! Many people were marching organized under the flags and banderolls of different unions, societies, organizations and groups, but there was also lots of people just like us, marching just with friends. There was also many marching bands playing, and we were all singing "Grândola vila morena", which is the song which was played in radio as a sign for people to announce that the revolution had started. Can you imagine how it sounds when 800 000 people are singing, mom? I´ll tell you a bit more about the revolution, mom. I think it is rather interesting bit of history! The revolution was started by a group of military officers who opposed the regime. They had made a plan that when the Grândola, vila morena was played in the radio the members of the group would take over all the important military posts. The information of the sign in radio had, anyway, also spread amongst other population, and when they heard it, thousands of people came to the streets of Lisbon despite repeated appeals from the revolutionaries on the radio asking the population to stay home. The name "Carnation Revolution" comes from the fact no shots were fired and when the population started descending the streets to celebrate the end of the dictatorship and war in the colonies, carnation flowers were put into the muzzles of rifles and on the uniforms of the army. The song Grândola, vila morena is a song by Zeca Afonso, whos songs were forbidden by the dictatorship. Here are the lyrics: Grândola, vila morena Grândola, swarthy town Terra da fraternidade Land of fraternity O povo é quem mais ordena It is the people who lead Dentro de ti, ó cidade Inside of you, oh city Dentro de ti, ó cidade Inside of you, oh city O povo é quem mais ordena It is the people who lead Terra da fraternidade Land of fraternity Grândola, vila morena Grândola, swarthy town Em cada esquina um amigo On each corner, a friend Em cada rosto igualdade In each face, equality Grândola, vila morena Grândola, swarthy town Terra da fraternidade Land of fraternity Terra da fraternidade Land of fraternity Grândola, vila morena Grândola, swathy town Em cada rosto igualdade In each face, equality O povo é quem mais ordena It is the people who lead À sombra duma azinheira In the shadow of a holm oak Que já não sabia a idade which no longer knew its age Jurei ter por companheira I swore as my companion, Grândola a tua vontade Grândola, your will Grândola a tua vontade Grândola, your will Jurei ter por companheira I swore as my companion À sombra duma azinheira In the shadow of a holm oak Que já não sabia a idade which no longer knew its age Here is the song, if you want to sing too! Grândola, vila morena by Zeca Afonso It was really fantastic to see the 800 000 people celebrating the democracy! That is something I can celebrate too with my whole heart! We marched to the Rossio square, where there were more music, and some members of parliament and party leaders giving speeches. Some people seemed to be a bit surprised to see a postbus from Switzerland celebrating with them, but I was wawing my carnation to them and they started to smile. I took so many pics I don´t quite know what to say about all of them. Maybe I just put here still some more for you to see. In the evening there was more festivities, and I´m going to tell you about them still today as soon as we come back home, because now we have to run somewhere! Kisses from your little revolutionalist! |

Hello, mom! Here I´m again!
We went to buy an alarm clock to Henna, and now I can tell the rest of my 25 of April. After the march we listened to some speeches and then we walked still a bit round Lisbon. Here I´m on the Rossio square. There was many little booths selling drinks and food for the celebrating people. This booth is selling ginginha, which is a drink made of sour cherries. It is usually drank from little cups made of chocolate. Do you still remember the "caretos", mom? The Portuguese carnaval figures. Well, here is a miniature one advertizing the ginginha. There was also many booths selling cravos, "carnations", but this booth was selling other flowers. We walked past Benfica club house. Benfica is the most famous Portuguese football club. I saw a graffiti picturing Amália Rodrigues, a very famous fado singer. The street cafés were full of people. Everyone seemed to be holding carnations in their hands. Then we saw "elevador da Bica", one of the many "horizontal elevators" of Lisboa, which are taking people up on some of the steepest streets. It looks just like the trams. I wanted to pose with the elevator, and she agreed. Don´t we look cute together, hmmm? Here I´m on the Restauradores square. The square is dedicated to the restoration of the independence of Portugal in 1640, after 60 years of Spanish domination. The obelisk in the middle of the square carries the names and dates of the battles fought during the Portuguese Restoration War, in 1640. Here you can see it a bit better. Maybe you have already realised that Portuguese people are really crazy about codfish. There is thousands of different codfish recipes, and it is a really essential part of the Portuguese kitchen. I was told that it started in medieval times when people were still fasting according to the churchs rules, and so there was many days they couldn´t eat meat. Instead they started to eat codfish, and they never stopped. I´m not personally so crazy about codfish, although it is all right, but the Portuguese fruit certainly is in its own class! There is innumerous farms producing small amounts of fruit, and often they are of some local variety and have really personal taste. Just look at these fruit! Do you start to drool too? Then we pushed again trough the red flags and carnations and took a ferry back to Almada, on the southern bank of the river, because we wanted to go into a concert of a revolutionary singer, Sérgio Godinho. Here is Sérgio Godinho as he was at the time of the revolution. He was, together with Zeca Afonso, one of the most important artists keeping up the Portuguese spirits during the dictatorship, and rising them up to the revolution with his poetry, which was spread secretly from hand to hand. In Almada we went first to see a small exhibition where there was original posters and record covers from the time of new freedom just after the revolution. Here is Zeca Afonso with the lyrics of Grândola, vila morena. His real name was José, but Zeca was the pet name with which people were calling him. When we got out again it was already dark, and people had started to gather to the Praça de Liberdade, "The square of freedom" for the concert. All the fountains were beautifully illuminated for the celebration. It was a warm evening and little brats were running, screaming, trough the fountains. There was of course people offering all sorts of products for the concert audience, and many brats got a balloon to celebrate the revolution. Or a sword blinking light in different colors. Kiosks were selling "farturas" and wafers, and of course drinks. The concert began at least, and with the beloved songs the people went totally crazy with joy. Everyone was hopping and dancing and singing and hugging each other, and some older people were crying with the emotions the songs brought into their minds. There was many people who disappeared or were badly injured in the political prisons of the PIDE (fascist police force) dungeons.. Here you can see Sérgio Godinho as he is now, in his seventies. The evening ended with fireworks! I loved my 25. of April here! Now I go to sleep! Good night to you too, dear mom! Your Poschti |

Bom dia, mãe amada!
Como estás? In 26. of April we went to see the giant statue of Cristo Rei in Almada, and I took some pics for you to see too. Here is Ponte 25 de Abril "25th of April Bridge", which connects Lisbon and Almada. I`m standing on its southern end in Almada. It is a shame it is not possible to walk or bike along it - it is built only for cars and trains. The statue of Cristo rei stands near the bridge and seems to be watching over the river Tejo. To me it looks like it was planning to dive into the river any moment, because it holds its hands like that.. There was many olive trees growing around the statue, and we climbed some of them to see if there would be any olives to pick, but Henna told us the olives are ready to be picked between November and January. We saw very funny looking palm trees, and we were just investigating them to see if they really were palm trees and not pine apples, when we heard a rather BIG voice calling us. "Hi, come here!" it said. It was Cristo Rei speaking to us! Cristo Rei (Christ the King) was built to celebrate the fact that Portugal didn´t land into the second world war. It was inaugurated 1959, and so it was here before the bridge, which was ready 1966. The statue itself is not so very high, it is 28 meters tall, but it stands over a tower, which is 82 meters tall and erected over the highest point of Almada, a cliff which stand 133 meters above the sea. "Hullo, Cristo Rei!" I answered to the statue. "Come up here, so I can see you better!" he asked. And so we did. There is an elevator inside the tower, and we took it, and soon we were up on top of the tower, wonderful landscape spreading in front of our eyes. In this pic you can see both banks of the river, and the city of Lisbon on the northern bank. I was just staring spellbound for a minute, but then I went to say hello to my new friend, Cristo Rei. "Hello, little postbus!" said he. "This is really a happy day, since if I´m not badly misstaken, you´re a toyvoyager!" "Yes, I am" said I, "and you must be the giant Christ of Almada, unless I´m not badly misstaken, although I don´t think it would be very easy to mix you with somebody else!" "Ha ha, little postbus, that´s the spirit!" said he. "I´ve already had the joy to meet some of you before, and I´m a big fan of the Toyvoyagers! Such a cheeky little things! Just the right creatures to make my day! I´m getting a bit tired of the pure devotion, you see!" "Aha!" said I. "In that case I´ll spread the word for as many toyvoyagers as possible to come to chat with you and cheer you up!" "Jiihaa!" said he. And then I was watching more around me while he was telling how the landscape around us had changed during the time he had been standing there - from a rural area mainly consisting of fields and little farmhouses into an urban, densely built anthill. Here I´m watching towards west, where the river Tejo meets the Atlantic Ocean. Can you see it in the horizon, mom? And here I´m watching towards east. If you had a telescope you could see the house we live here in, near the greener spot. Then I said goodbye to Cristo Rei, wishing him a good summer and nice pigeons, and he wished me safe voyaging and interesting adventures. We came down again and had a small cup of coffee in the café next to the statue. My coffee tasted of vodka, which was very odd! I was just going to ask about it when I heard Cristo Rei giggling. "Obrigada!" I shouted and drank my coffee with vodka. See you soon again, dear mom! Your Poschti |

Hello, dear mom!
I hope you´re having a great time in Vienna! This is propably my last update from Portugal (which is a shame! I would have wanted to have more time to spend there!) and then we can move to Finland. On one of our last days in Portugal we went for a walk in Lisbon. In this pic I´m standing on Largo do Camões, and behind me you can see the Camões statue. Luís Vaz de Camões lived in the 16th century, and he is considered Portugal's and the Portuguese language's greatest poet. His greatest work is "Os Lusíadas" - which also had a tremendous impact on portuguese language. Here you can see him a bit better. The smaller characters are other classic portuguese authors. "Hello there, Luís!" said I, "I´ve come to visit your wonderful city!" "Wellcome, wellcome, little post bus!" said he, "but alas, this is not my city! My city was destroyed in the big earthquake and the only place I now recognice is the old Castle. We walked along, imagining how would the city of Lisbon have looked, sounded and smelled in the times of Camões. Did you know, mom, that the first high heel shoes were used in medieval cities, because the streets were so thickly covered with filth? A nauseating thought! We stepped into this nice souvenier shop. Inside I met again one of the cute Lisbon trams - this time in great size! Back on the streets again we saw some interesting graffitis. How do you think Luís de Camões would like these? Maybe there was graffitis in his Lisbon too. Why not? There was some even in the walls of Pompeii, many of them naughty. I was doing some window shopping.. And admiring the "azulejos" with which many of the walls in Lisbon are paved. These azulejos are picturing the Praça do Comercio square. These azulejos are rather new, but they are showing old village life in the Algarve area. Suddenly we found ourselves on the gates of Castelo de são Jorge, and decided to go in. The castle is built on top of the highest of the seven hills of Lisbon, as we soon found out! While climbing upwards the endles stairs we could peep into the yards of the small houses nesting next to the ancient castle walls. What a cool place to live in! At last we reached the castle yard, phew! We were resting for awhile under the pinha trees, and guess what! We noticed there was many pinha seeds on the ground! Here! We were peeling them by knockng them with a stone and ate them. They were delicious! Then we went to sit on the wall, still munching, watching the view over the city. Looks inviting, doesn´t it? We went to investigate the castle towers and walls and whatnot, and Henna told us about the history of the castle, promising it to be just a suitable portion. The hill has been fortificated first time maybe in the end of the neolithic stone age, told she (what a promising beginning, this can now go on about 8000 years!) and after that again maybe 30 times during the bronze- and iron ages by different people. (Okke, that was a fast summary!) The oldest remaining ruins are from the Roman period (from 1th to 5th century) and from the moorish period from 8th to 14th century. That is about as much as I want to know! We climbed over every single wall and tower it was possible to climb, and every now and then we got a view over the city to a new direction. Suddenly a monster tried to eat me! But I was playing my postbus signal in the highest bossible volume and he dropped me, startled, and I run round a corner and made faces to him! Stupid monster! Why did the ancient people need to carve such dangerous things everywhere? The castle was dedicated to são Jorge, saint George, you know, the guy who beats the dragon (I´ve always been on the dragons side!) when a portuguese king married an english princess in the 14th century. This George happened to be the patriot saint of England, you see. No one knows how the castle was called before that. Of course, that leaves lots of room for imagination. -No one can proove it wasn´t called for example The Castle Of The United Free Plushies. Look! From this side of the castle we can see our friend Tejo, running lazily in the sun. Well, not running. No one can run lazily! Roaming! There is not much left of the buildings where the people were living in, although there certainly were some, because the castle served as the royal recidence for some kings. It was here where the king received Vasco da Gama, for example, when he returned from his trip to India 1499. Here I´m on the inner yard of the castle. Maybe Camões was sitting here too some day, enjoying the sun and the birdsong like we were doing. But it was time for us to say goodby to the castle and go home to pack our bags. Goodby, ancient castle! Have some more happy millenniums! A warm hug to you, mom! Your Camionette! |

Hyvää iltaa, äiti! (Good evening, mother!)
Mitä kuuluu? (How are you?) You can predict from this beginning that today we´re going to move to the finnish soil. On our last evening in Portugal we went to the cinema. We saw a film called "Night train to Lisbon". The film was a bit too thrilling to me! I spent part of the time in Hennas pocket.. But it was nice to see many places on the screen we had already seen in real life. Next morning we were in the airport so early that we were all half a sleep. You can see our flight here, it is the fourth row from the bottom of the list,"Helsinquia". That´s how they spell Helsinki in Portuguese. Our gate was number 13. We were having some fresreshments on a cafeteria while waiting our plane to get ready. Here is our plane! "Hello, airplane!" shouted I to the plane, "I wish you are feeling chirpier than I am!" "Ha ha, little postbus!" answered the plane, "I´m quite ready to fly round the globe if needed!" "I´m happy to hear that!" said I. I would not like to fly with a sleepy airplane! We managed to book a windowseat! Great! Here we have just entered the friendly plane, and I´m watching everything going on around us. I saw the luggage being thrown and kicked into the plane. We were checking our route from the map, and I saw that we would fly somehow near over Frankfurt. So I decided to try to spot it from the air and wave to you, mom! "Now we go, little bus!" shouted the airplane to me, and then we went up into the air! After some time we were served lunch, which was great, because I was already starving! The kilo of sweets I tried to smuggle with me to the plane as a little snack was found in the security control, and we had to eat them before entering! It took about 2 minutes from five toyvoyagers to handle that! Here we are somewhere near Frankfurt and I´m waving to you with all my wheels! Did you feel it, mom? The rest of the flight we were watching some awful program they always show in airplanes (golf and fashion shows, why o why?) and putting funny stuff into the mouths of those people who slept their mouths open. We landed to Finland after almost five hours flight. A friend of Hennas took us to Nuuksio in his car. Here is the little cottage I´m going to live in! It is about hundred years old and it is in middle of a big forest. I wanted to see a bit around and run to investigate! There was wonderful white anemones everywhere! And lots of narcissuses, which had just opened. The blue anemones seemed to be glowing in the sun! I was very happy to see all the spring flowers, because I had half expected to see still lots of snow! Actually, there was still a bit in the ditches and some shady places.. "Since you are anyway roaming around there you could collect some wild vegetables!" Henna shouted from inside. "What vegetables does she mean?" I asked from Zoe and Tuli, who know these things. "Nettles, sheeps sorrel, young dandelion, coltsfoot and thistle leaves!" they answered, "They are going to be our dinner!" And so we started to collect all those things. It was very fun! But I wondered about the dinner! We had soon collected a little basket full of the wild vegetables, and the Zoe and Tuli were showing me and Tiger Lilly what to do with them. First we put the vegetables into a cettle and then I was mincing them with scissors. They smelled wonderfully! Then we built an open fire. There is enough dry twigs and branches everywhere on the yard! We put some water to the cettle and put the cettle over the fire. We let the vegetables boil about ten minutes, stirring every now and then, and added some salt and pepper. Then we added some cream, and it started to look quite yammy! My mouth was already watering! We ate our dinner outside, sitting on the roof of an old hencoop where Henna has put a table. It was delicious! Tuli told its is traditional to eat wild vegetables in springtime in Finland. Such was our first day in Nuuksio. I think this is going to be a funny visit! I´ll soon tell you more! A warm hug to you! Your Poschti |

Hei taas, rakas äiti! (Hi again, beloved mother!)
How are you? We have all been having a spring flue, and the little red cottage has been full of sneezing, coughing and nose blowing. Before getting the flue we made a nice trip to Porkkala, which is a beautiful area in the sea shore, about twenty kilometers from Nuuksio. In Porkkala we headed for a small island called Linlo. There was a small bridge leading there. On the island we were walking along a route of duckboards trough a forest. An elk who had missed his potty training had also visited the island.. We left the duckboards and followed the reed-growing shoreline in search of a good place to lit a coffee fire. Who can live without a hot cuppa every now and then? The shore turned rocky and soon we were watching beautiful sea landscape from the many cliffs we climbed. I was wondering about the line formations in the rocks. Tuli explained to me they were formed during the ice age, when the whole northern Europe was covered with an ice layer which was many kilometers thick. The ice cover was so heavy and caused such a pressure on the earth, that the rocks were smoothed and got round shapes, and the hardest stone types, like the white quartzite here, stick out from the softer granite as lines. The sea looked very blue, and the air felt really fresh, and the seagulls passing by were shouting some rather fresh remarks too to do with our outer habitus. Then we found an old fireplace and started to collect wood to burn. Soon we had the coffeepot over the fire! It was a bit coolish day, and also windy in the shore (I guess that is where we got the flue..) and I could hardly wait to get hot coffee! Because it still took some time for the water to boil, we went down to the shore, which was full of round pebbles. I think they looked pretty much like birds eggs. I went back to keep an eye on the water, and when the coffee was ready I called everyone else too. Then we had many mugs of hot coffee! And ate 15 gingerbread cookies each! This is my seventh. After some more hopping on the rocks we came back home, because our gingerbread cookie package was empty! How horrible. Next time I´ll show you pics from Helsinki. Kisses from your (snotty) little bus. |

Hei, rakas äiti!
I wish the weather has turned more summery there! We have had both rain and sun in a quite nice mixture. I´m now going to show you photos I took in Helsinki when we went for a stroll there some days ago. It is about 30 kilometers from Nuuksio to the centrum of Helsinki, and first we took a bus into a place called Leppävaara. There wasn´t many travellers, and so the bus had good time to talk with me in our secret common vehicle language. He told me it is very nice to be a Nuuksio bus, to be driwing in beautiful landscapes, seeing elks and deers, badgers and hares and lynxes, foxes, raccoon dogs and even a bear every now and then. Isn´t it wonderful, mom?! Just 30 kilometers away from the centrum of the capitol city! In Leppävaara we took a train, which took us to Helsinki. We were all in good mood and willing to walk a lot. The train took us to the Helsinki main railway station, which is the building behind my back. Henna says it always reminds her of a 1930´s radio. These huge guys who are guarding the main gate of the station are lightbearers from the finnish mythology. The metal "badges" are there because they´re going to take the statues to be cleaned. Ha ha, they need a bath too once in a hundred years. I guess I could handle that too. We started to walk first towards north along Mannerheimintie, which is kinda main road of Helsinki. I saw the first Helsinki tram. I think they are quite cute, although they could be even more beautiful if they were, for example, yellow.. The big yellowish building is the main post office of Helsinki, and the other one is a department store called Sokos. Helsinki is rather a young city. It was established 1550 by the command of a swedish king who was also the king of Finland at that time. The king was thinking of a good place for a harbour to enlarge the economy, not about the conditions to build the city in. Helsinki was build over a swamp area, and people were so reluctant to move into the new town that the king had to order them to. Nowadays there is, anyway, over 600 000 inhabitants and the town keeps growing. The oddly shaped building behind my back is a museum of contemporary art called Kiasma. The aquarium -like building is a new music center, which was built couple of years ago. The statue is called "Laulupuut" - The song trees, and it is picturing a pike (Esox lucius) in the top of a tree, singing. Henna told the statue was inspired by a poem of the poet Aaro Hellaakoski called "Hauen laulu", the song of a pike, in which a pike climbes a spruce to taste the reddish cones and to sing. We marched onwards, and soon we saw the finnish parliament house on the other side of the street. It was built in 1931. I think it looked rather pompous. This is where finnish people mainly come to demonstrate - to shout for the parliament members going in or out. We were counting the pillars, after Henna told us that when she was a brat, they asked the number of the pillars of the parliament house in an exam at school, and she had no idea. We counted fourteen. So now you know! We saw also a miniature model of the building. We climbed a rock next to the parliament house and watched the scenario. The tower behind the spruce belongs to the finnish national museum. So we walked to see the museum building next. It is a funny building which looks rather much like the finnish mediaeval churches. It was inaugurated 1916. The museum has a beautiful yard, which is now full of glorious dandelions, like little suns on the grass. It was a somewhat cloudy and coolish day, and every now and then the sky looked really grey, but after the harsh winter people here enjoy even the gloomiest days of summer! On weekends everyone is somewhere outside, whatever the weather. There was a friendly looking bear guarding the door of the museum. We didn´t go in this time, because we wanted to walk and see much more. Maybe one day when it really pours! So we walked onwards, and I saw another, a bit older tram. They are all green here! "Hello, Helsinki tram! Happy to meet you!" I said to her (in our secret language). "I say the same, little bus from Switzerland! Have a nice stay here!" she answered and blinked her lights to me. Zoe, Tuli and Tiger Lilly are asking about five times a day me to teach the language to them, but I don´t know.. I like them a lot, but they are not vehicles! One day they started to suddenly to speak a "bird-mammal-frog language" and to look very secretive, which pissed me off very much! But Henna told us we were stupid. We should create a secret language for ALL toyvoyagers instead of guarrelling with each other, she said, and off course she is quite right. "I often am!" she is shouting now when I write, reading over my shoulder. Hmh. Next we saw "Finlandia talo" - Finlandia Hall, which is a concert- and congress hall on the Töölönlahti bay. It was completed 1971, and it seems that on its own time it was something very special, and made the architect Alvar Aalto very famous round the world, but I must say to me it looked just a white box. I admired more the wonderfull tulips planted on the yard. We walked trough Töölönlahti bay park, which is a very popular place to spend time, have picnics and such. This is a memorial monument of one of the finnish presidents, Urho Kekkonen. What? It doesn´t look like a monument to you? Well, nor did it look like that to me either, more like a beautiful swimming pool. But I like it. Many trees and bushes are in bloom now, and many of them smell wonderfull, so the walk trough a park is not only cherishing our eyes but all the senses. We saw another, more conventional statue. It is picturing "runonlaulaja" Larin Paraske. I don´t quite know how to translate runonlaulaja, maybe a bard? Runonlaulaja was a specialist who could sing a big selection of the so called "Kalevala" folk poetry, which was learned by heart, listening to the older people. Here you can see something of the Töölönlahti bay itself. On summertime it is possible to hire a rowing boat and go rowing there. This building is "Hakasalmen huvila" - Hakasalmi villa. It was the summer residence of Aurora Karamzin, who was a great philanthropist. As a young maiden Aurora "was appointed a lady-in-waiting of Empress Alexandra Fedorovna the elder, consort to Emperor Nicholas I of Russia and a lady of the bedchamber of their Imperial Majesties Empress Alexandra Feodorovna the younger and Empress Maria Feodorovna. She was made a dame of the Order of Saint Catherine, the highest honor for ladies in Imperial Russia". (Phew!) Later in life Aurora used her immense wealth to create benefactory institutions in Helsinki, such as schools, public kitchens, and the Deaconess Institution of Helsinki. Quite a remarkable woman! Nowadays the building serves as one of the Helsinki town museums. They had a café in one of the side buildings, and we got very interested when seeing it! Well, we hadn´t been eating anything for whole two hours! Soon we were devouring a "karjalanpiirakka" (carelian pastry) with "munavoi" (spread made of butter and hard boiled eggs) over it. It is a traditional delicacy from the Karjala (Carelia) in eastern Finland. It was very good! Full of new energy we walked along, now towards south, trough the modern Kamppi shopping center. Next to the shopping center we saw this very interesting looking building. To me it looked first like a dinosaur egg, but I was told it is the Kamppi Chapel. It is also known as the "Chapel of Silence" since it is intended to be a place to calm down and have a moment of silence in one of the busiest areas in Finland. It was built only last year, and it won The Chicago Athenaeum: International Architecture Award For The Best New Global Design - price. We went to see it from inside too. It is built totally of wood. I think the wooden ceilings were really beautiful! What do you think, mom? I also liked the detail of the pile of pillows looking like rounded beach stones. And the fact that the candles where stick to stand in white beach sand. I guess it all has to do with the finnish near to the nature -ideology. This is maybe the most famous statue of Helsinki, called "Kolmen sepän patsas" - The three smiths statue. It was unveiled in 1932, and it depicts three smiths hammering on an anvil, naked, which is slightly odd, thinking of the sparks, to start with. It is a popular meeting point. We turned to walk along Aleksanterin katu street and passed the department store of Stockmann. It is the largest department store in the Nordic countries, and it was opened 1930. The first escalators of Helsinki were in this building, and for some years there was a nuisance of the Helsinki schoolkids coming to driwe up and down, up and down with them after school hours. I spotted these rather ugly faces on wall of one of the houses we were passing. We came to Senaatintori - The Senates Square. This is the statue of Emperor Alexander II, located in the center of the square. The statue, erected in 1894, was built to commemorate his initiation of several reforms that increased Finland's autonomy from Russia. During the Russification of Finland from 1899 onwards, the statue became a symbol of quiet resistance. I met another fluffy bus on the square! He was a turist bus taking people for sightseeings round the town. We were chatting a good while. On one side of the square is Helsinki Cathedral. It was built 1832-1850, and since it was also built over a swamp people were sure it would sink. We climbed the stairs to see the church better, and also to see the view over the square. This is the Helsinki University main building, which is on one side of the square too. The university has been situated in Helsinki since 1829, but it was founded in the city of Turku in 1640 as The Royal Academy of Turku. It is the oldest and largest university in Finland. This is the Sederholm house. It is the oldest remaining building of Helsinki centrum, built in 1756. Because most buildings were made of wood, they were destroyed in many fires or demolished to make way for newer stone constructions. Specially during the 1960´s to 1980´s many beautiful, old buildings were destroyed and ugly boxes were constructed in their place. Sederholm house serves as a museum too nowadays. This is Holy Trinity Orthodox Church. It is the oldest normally serving church in Helsinki centrum. It was built 1825-1826. I started to have a feeling we had seen rather many churches already.. Next we walked to the seashore, to see the famous Kauppatori - Market Square. Originally this was a muddy shore where the fishermen came to sell their catch straight from their boats. The square was built in beginning of 19th century and became the main market for people from surrounding countryside to sell their products for the city dwellers. Besides vegetables, berries, mushrooms and fish there is nowadays tables selling handicrafts and souveniers. It is also very popular place to sit in outside tables eating fish dishes or coffee and buns. This is also the place where the ferries leave to Suomenlinna fortress islands, and there is also many cruise companies making sightseeings. The big boats to Sweden and Estonia also leave near by. I noticed there was turtles preventing cars driwing everywhere. Good job! We walked over a small channel to see the Uspenski cathedral (STILL one more church, crying out loud! ) Uspenski Cathedral is an Eastern Orthodox cathedral, dedicated to the Dormition of the Theotokos (the Virgin Mary). (Umh..) It was designed by the Russian architect Alexey Gornostaev and built in 1862–1868. I was rather full of churches, cathedrals, chapels and whatnot, but even so I was sad the cathedral was closed - I would have liked to peep in.. This is the view over Helsinki in front of the Uspenski cathedral. Can you spot the dome of the Lutheran Cathedral ? We came down from the hill where the cathedral stands and saw this old lightvessel. It was serving ships in the areas where there was no lighthouse, showing the dangerous rocks and such when the weather got rough. We walked over"The bridge of love" and watched the lovelocks people have hanged there. I think it is very romantic! Maybe one day I could driwe here, wheel in wheel with a cute little vehicle.. hmm! Just when thinking these romantic thoughts I saw this awfully cute museum tram driwing towards me! I could only say "Wow!" and I think I even blushed, and she smiled at me charmingly. I watched long time after her, and the others were giggling and slapping my back. When she disappeared behind a corner, we moved along and saw this fountain called "Havis Amanda" by sculptor Ville Walgren. The statue is from the year 1906 and it is a mermaid who stands on seaweed, rising from the water, surrounded by four sea lions. Every year on Vappu, 1.5, Havis Amanda serves as a centrepiece for the celebrations. Students of the local universities put a cap on the statue in an elaborate ceremony. For many it is a "must see" event. We continued our walk along Esplanadi park, which was full of people, enjoying the summerday. There was an estonian tram- and bus driwers wind instrument band playing on the stage. There was a very beautiful icecream kiosk, but it was too cold to have icecream. Maybe next time! Then it was time to go home, and we headed back towards the railway station. On our way there we saw a guy playing really beautiful music with bottles filled with different amounts of liquid. And a "dog bar" outside a shop - bowls with water and different dog bisquits, and a plake asking the dog owners to leave some coins to keep the bar going on. What a nice idea! I think I like Helsinki a lot. It is not a very big city, and its "sights" are somehow humble compared to many other places I´ve been visiting. But I like its greennes, freshnes and cosynes. I think you would like it too. See you soon again, dear mom! Kisses from your "linja-auto" - bus ! |

Hei, rakas äiti! (Hi, dear mom!)
How are you? I´m just fine! Last weekend we went for a walking trip onto Seurasaari island, which is a popular place to spend summerdays, and where there is also an outdoor museum. There is an old wooden bridge leading onto the island. Saturday was the last day of school before summer holidays in Finland, and there was even more people than normally, celebrating the beginning of the summer by eating icecream, sitting on the beaches. We started our museum round in an iron age house. We walked there along these duckboards. There was some kind of totem pole wellcoming us to the house. Henna told us that in stone age the finns had three totem animals they considered their foreparents - elks, bears and swans. If they still believed in such things on ironage is unsure, though. These buildings were made together by archaeologists and people who have past and roleplaying as their hobby. They have few times a year iron age happenings here where people can buy iron age handicrafts and food or learn some iron age skills in workshops. This is a typical finnish iron age building. There were people living in one end of the building, and animals in the other end. In wintertime the animals and their dung helped to keep the house warm. These houses had open fireplaces and no chimneys, which were only invented in the 13th century. So all the smoke came in, which wasn´t very comfortable. Some poor people lived like that still in the 1950´s ! So, on summertime, when the fire was not nessessary for warmth, people didn´t cook inside the houses, but in this kinda cooking huts on the yard. It was common to have magical symbols on the door- or windowposts preventing any malevolent powers entering the house. On this doorpost there is a looped square or Saint John´s arms (käpälikkö in finnish), although it can be a bit hard to see. We walked to see some more modern historic buildings and passed by these wonderful lilies called Solomon´s Seal. I don´t know if I would like to live in an iron age house! Full of smoke and still rather cool in winter, brr! Although it would be nice to sleep under the same roof with sheeps and cows and horses.. Well, here we have a more modern building. Hmm.. I would have said it is from iron age too, but as Henna pointed out, it has a glas window, which means it cannot be older than from 17´th century. Otherwise there is not much difference! Then we walked and watched many old countryside buildings, all from the 17th to 20th century. There was some very grand houses and some very humble ones. This house is built so that it is possible to driwe a chart or sleigh trough it onto the yard. Red was the most common color for houses, and the paint was made of red ochre and tallow. The mix is actually pretty similar than it was in rock art. Probably the red color, as the color of blood and life, was also considered to be quarding the house and the inhabitants from evil. Usually only the main building was painted, and the sidebuildings were left grey. I could very well live in the houses from this period! They are only lacking electricity and running water compared to the modern times, but, actually, we don´t have running water either in the little cottage we live her in Nuuksio, and we´re doing quite well without. The electricity is another thing. Without it I could not even write my updates! We a saw a windmill of the type called "magpie mill" because it had a tail with which it was possible to turn the mill so that wings catched the wind as well as possible. We had a little pause in a café selling traditional foodstuff, and tried something called "kalakukko" (fish rooster). It is rye bread inside which there is baked lots of fish called vendace. It looked horrible, but tasted rather good! These buildings are "aittas", granaries or storage houses. Big houses had many aittas on the yard, one for meat, one for milk products, one for flour, one for clothes and so on. Usually the sons and daughters of the house had an own aitta each of them, and sometimes the servants too. There they kept their personal belongings and also slept in them in summertime. Specially in western Finland it was quite normal that young people slept together before marriage, and if a girl had couple of kids already while marrying, it was just taken as a proof of her fertility. The food aittas always had this kinda little hole under the door. Can you guess why? It was the private entrance for cats, so that they could get in to take care of the mice and rats trying to eat the foodstuff. This is an old wooden church. It is an extremely popular place to get married. And this is its belltower. This is a house from the Karelia area. In these houses the animals still lived under the same roof - in the downstairs, while people lived in upstairs. I guess the animals helped again to keep the upstairs warmer. This little cottage had a wonderfully blooming apple tree on its yard. Then we saw couple of saw called church boats. The villages built, owned and handled them communally, and competed with other villages whos boat was fastest. It was possible for the whole village to get into the boat at the same time for the trip to church. The construction of these huge boats is pretty similar than the socalled viking boats, and probably they are their late descendants. The boats smelled of tar, with which they were painted. I sat inside the boat, enjoying the wonderful smell of the tar! Mom, I would love to be rowing in a boat like this! We saw still tens of different buildings, so that I think it was enough of finnish building history to last the rest of my life! But just when they (the buildings) started to get out trough our ears Henna got the excellent idea to buy icecreams to everyone! Sometimes she gets great ideas! I wish you´ve had some icecreams too! See you soon! Your Poschti. |

Hyvää iltaa, rakas äiti! (Good evening, dear mom!)
I´m happy to hear that you have not floated away with the floods! We have been having warm and sunny days here in Finland - much warmer and sunnier than in Southern Europe, which is rather odd! On sunday we went to Suomenlinna fortificated island in front of Helsinki. This is the little ferry with which we get there. The ferries to Suomenlinna leave from Kauppatori, and on summer weekends they are usually full of both finns and tourists. The trip took only about ten minutes. Here we are just arriving to the islands. Here you can see the islands on a map. Suomenlinna was built during the Swedish era as a maritime fortress. Work on the fortress was begun in the mid-18th century. Today SUomenlinna is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Suomenlinna is also a district of the city of Helsinki, with a permanent population of more than 800. We went first to walk a bit in the living district, to see the houses and surroundings. People live in old barracks and beautiful old villas, which were originally officers apartments. The life on the islands is almost like living in some small country village. Only the masses of tourists and finns who come to enjoy the beautiful landscapes (and vodka ) in summertime put the life here into an upheaval. Almost everyone living here naturally has a boat. It´s like owning a car in other parts of Helsinki. We also saw an old submarine. It is built in Finland in the 1930´s and it is called Vesikko (=mink). This is the church of Suomenlinna. It also works as a lighthouse - the is a light on the top of it. The church bell is not up in a belltower, but on the groundlevel. I felt a strong urge to play it, but I realised there would be some angry people coming to make difficult questions if I did.. There is syringas growing everywhere on the islands - they were plamted here in the 18th century. They were the first ever syringas growing in Finland, but they soon started to spread when the people who had come here to build the fortifications went back to their homes round the country and took little saplings with them. We went to have some refresments before going to walk the rest of the islands. Then, our bellies filled we walked to the area where the ruins of the old fortifications fight against the time and wall-peeing drunkards. There is tunnels and cellars and dungeons, narrow staircases and rumours of ghosts of the unlucky people who were kept as prisoners in the humid, icecold caverns during the wars between Sweden and Russia, Krimean war and the finnish civil war. One things I mostly enjoyed in Suomenlinna is the lack of cars. I know it is a funny statement coming from the mouth of a small bus, but it was really great! People living here use bikes or their feet. Everything was blooming and wonderful and it was a bit difficult to connect the horrible history of the place Henna was telling us to the lovely landscapes around us.. We didn´t go much inside the murky buildings - the earthen floors inside were very muddy and there was icecold water dropping over us from the ceiling. The open air is so much better! There was small bridges connecting the islands. We walked along the small roads and saw everywhere people having a picnic or playing petanque or flying a fresbee or something like that. We came to the western shore of the island and there we saw some people flying kites on the roofs of the old gunpowder storages! We all lay down on our backs to watch the kites on the sky. Then we walked along and saw many more interesting paths and buildings and roofs of them.. we were climbing a lot, you see. I think we saw much more than most tourists, because Henna and Zoe both have this odd syndrome which makes them to go straight ahead whenever they see signs or plakes saying "private" or "don´t enter" or "danger of falling" or other things like that. The landscapes were so beautiful, mom! Sun made the yellow flowers to glow and the sea to glisten! I could see the Helsinki mainland in the horizon. We were feeling again a bit peckish.. Luckily we had taken some provisions with us - small karjalanpiirakkas (carelian pastries), berry pies and juice! We were eating and drinking and singing a finnish song called "Sua lähde kaunis katselen" (I´m watching you, oh beautiful fountain). After the picnic lunch we had to sit down for awhile. The tourists come here to see the fortress, but I guess many of them are more impressed by these views. This is the little official swimming beach. Henna told that when she was five year old girl she was swimming there and meanwhile a magpie stole her panties! We started to walk back towards the ferry.. We saw some old cannons over the banks. We saw still many more old fortification walls and things on our way back. Then we found a small pool, growing yellow irises. Soon we were again near the ferry platform and on our way back home. It was a lovely day! I hope you enjoyed it too! Kisses fro your little adventurist! |

This is an announcement to let you know that we´ll continue with our updates
as soon as Hennas new camera arrives. |

Hello, dear mom!
How are you? Good news! Henna has got her new camera and I can write still couple of updates before moving to new landscapes! First we just have to learn to use it! So, the past couple of days we´ve been running around like crazies, and taken photos of everything, each other and the landscapes, different insects and whatnot. Here we are walking in the forest surrounding our little cottage here. Kukkuu! There is yet no mushrooms, it has been too dry summer here, but the berries are ripe now! We were picking lots of blueberries. But I guess we were eating even more! So the bucket was getting full very slowly! Specially because the softness of the moss lured us to lay down on our backs, and the heavy smell of forest flowers and the buzzing of the insects over the swamp started to make us feel kinda sleepy. The treetops swaying sleepy too against the blue sky, and the light clouds sailing lazily across it didn´t help much either, and soon we were all in deep sleep. Henna woke us up few hours later. Meanwhile she had picked the bucket full of blueberries. She said she let us sleep because we were so cute there, laying on the moss, snoring slightly and ants investigating over us. We found also some wild forest strawberries! They are small, but so delicious! These flowers are in finnish called "Kurjenkello", which means the cranes bell. Their latin name is Campanula persicifolia and in english they seem to be "harebell"! Maybe both cranes and hares are playing them at nights.. Then we marched out from the forest, because we had to make a visit to Hennas mother. Henna had promised the blueberries to her. So we take the bus and the train to Helsinki. I always like to watch the views! The train was practically empty!. Hennas mother was giving us cakes and thanking us for the berries. What a nice lady she is! You can see her chin in the photo. Then we were "behaving", like we had been told, watching the views from the windows.. And keeping company for dolls living there. They were very civilized dolls. They had to be - they had lace dresses and even parasols. I bet their conversation was civilized too - teaparties, new dresses and gossip. Ugh! After fifteen minutes of that we pressed Henna to save us from the dolls by threatening to tell her mother some interesting details we had been reading from her teenage diaries we had happened to find in the attic. So we left and Henna took us to see a rather peculiar church, called Temppeliaukion kirkko. It is also known as the Church of the Rock. It is behind me in the pic. Or actually, that is the roof. The roof dome looks a bit like an ufo landed on the rocks. The interior is excavated and built directly out of solid rock and it is bathed in natural light which enters through the glazed dome. I think it looks a bit ufo inside too. But actually it is a really peacefull and silent place. I like it. Well, haha, silent when there is no hundred tourists nor a concert going on. It is a very popular place for both. I´ll end now this update, but I´ll be soon back! A tight hug to you, mom! Your Poschti |

Hei taas, äiti! (Hi again, mom!)
How are you? I´m still here in Finland, but I´ll start my journey to Germany on Friday. We have been spending a lot of time outside, rummaging round the forests around us. One day we made a long walking trip trough the nearby countryside. We walked a long way trough fields and meadows. Every now and then we saw a farmhouse somewhere behind the fields. We saw also some cows and horses, but usually they were too far away for us to see them properly, but on one house they had these longhaired cows right on the yard. "Hello, cow!" said I, "why do you have such a long hair?" "Muu muu, little bus!" answered she, "maybe my hairdresser just happens to be on holidays!" Do you think she was pulling my leg, mom? There was a river making its slow way trough the fields too, and since we seemed to be heading to the same direction, we decided to go on same foot. She didn´t seem to mind the company either. There was beautiful rantakukka/Lythrum salicaria/Purple loosestrife growing in many places on the shore. In some places the river was running faster, and we had to run too, to keep the same speed. Other times we wer much faster, and had to sit down to wait for our friend. (Do you understand my ramblings, mom? Henna doesn´t. She´s just rolling her eyes and saying there must be the full moon up soon, reading our writings.) But there certainly wasn´t any full moon then, there was a full sun, and the river glimmered blue under it. If moon (luna) makes people go lunatics, does the sun (helios) turn them into heliotics? Huh? I bet it does! We were quite heliotics the whole gang! [/size]] For example we simply HAD to cross the river many times by jumping from stone to stone or by running along pretty slippery tree trunks. Blame the sun! After falling in about twenty times Henna suggested that it would be high time to turn our backs to the river, since we seemed to be unable to stay over its surface. So we headed to the road, and on the road we met a little sisilisko/Zootoca vivipara/Viviparous lizard. The poor thing had lost its tail! You know, they can save their life by dropping their tail, if, say, a hungry crow attacks them. So they drop the tail for the crow to eat and go on, growing slowly a new tail. Quite handy, but also very tiring. It takes a lot of energy to grow a new tail! "Hi, little lizard!" said I, "what did scare you so much you had to drop your tail?" "Well, mister Bus", answered she, "it was two evenings ago while I was peacefully eating flies, when suddenly a huge flying saucer landed next to me, and out came these naughty-looking, bulge-headed creatures who tried to pick me up and put me into their animals of earth -collection!" Mom? What do you think of that? Do you think they´d be interested into little postbusses too? But we simply decided to wear aluminium folium hats in future, and took again a bus to Helsinki. We went to spot sailing ships, since there was the Tall Ship Race going on. There was lots of people! We saw some quite small boats and some quite big ships too. Most vessels were from around the Baltic Sea - there was many boats from Germany, Belgium, Netherlands, Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Poland, Latvia, Russia and Estonia, but the boats which had come the longest way were from Saudi-Arabia, Mexico and Peru. The weather had turned a bit cold, and were also feeling kinda peckish.. So we stopped to have some pancakes with jam and whipped cream. Then we walked around watching more ships. Some of them were quite colourfull. I had a nice day and I wish you had too! See you very soon again! Your Poschti |

Hello, dear mom!
I´ll now tell you about my last days in Finland. I told the others that before leaving Finland I would like to overnight in nature, since here the possibilities to that are endless. The others agreed noisily, and so we went onto a small island called Linlo in Kirkkonummi, about 30 kilometers from Nuuksio. We crossed over a small bridge to the island and started to follow duckboards and paths in search of a perfect place to put up our tent. While walking, we spotted many other small islands in middle of the blue sea. The paths led us across the island, trough dence hazelnut thickets. On the western side of the island we came to a beautiful, rocky shore, and behind the rocks there was a perfect tenting spot - a sheltered, green valley. There was some bronze age graves on one end of the valley. Yes, I knew would ask! The stone heap we are sitting over is one of the graves.. In Finland the custom was to build a big heap of stones over the grave chamber, you see. In the opposite end of the valley was growing lots of hallonberries, and we decided to rise our tent there. Handy or what? Here is our tent! Doesn´t it look like a great place to sleep in? (Henna of course didn´t fit in, but she said she would have chosen another spot to sleep anyway, because "half of you snore and the other half kick". ) I´m afraid I belong to the first half. Our next task was to build up fire and make coffee! Here we are collecting firewood. I was keeping an eye over the coffeepot while the others were rummaging trough the bags in search of something to eat. Then I poured the coffee for everyone, a bigger cup for Henna.. .. and smaller cups for us voyagers. Henna made me to blush saying that someday I´ll make a good husband for some lucky little girl. The others were giggling, of course.. We were having some gingerbread cookies. I think it was a bit funny to eat them on a sunny seashore, because in my mind they belong to the Christmastime.. The next round was some buns. And then we were having bagels. And then we were fighting over the last one, but we shouldn´t have, because we got totally entangled with it and each other and then we had to shout Henna to help us out, and she only did it after tickling us! And then we spent a wonderful day on the island, investigating every nook and corner of it! Insides of the island we found a swamp area. Henna had told us to avoid swamps because they can be dangerous places to go walking on, and so we had to go there walking on to see if anything would happen. Nothing did, though. But we found there some spotted orchidés. This one is for you, mom! And then we found the first mushrooms of this summer. Chantarellis! We carried them back to our camp. Then we went to the beach, where we were watching the beautiful stones rounded by the sea, and collecting the most beautiful ones of them. And then we were just hanging idly around, chatting this and that, which is a splendid way to spend time. Then we picked hallonberries to eat later in the evening. And when the evening came we sat round the fire in our comfy sleeping backs, drank tea, ate hallonberries, and told stories about all the places we had seen, and about our homes. In the evening, before goin to sleep, we sat in our sleepingbacks round the fire and talked about our experiences round the world and about our homes. Zoe and Tuli taught us a finnish song which is sang when sitting round a fire. "Meil on metsässä nuotipiiri missä kuusten kuiske soi. Kipunat kohti tähtiä kiirii lähipuutkin punervoi. Ja me muistamme sankariaikaa sadun tenhon tunnemme, taikaa. Ja kun laulumme yön yli kiirii ja kun hongat huminoi. We have an open fire in the forest which is ringing by the whispers of the spruces. The sparkles are reaching the stars and making the nearby trees glow red. We are remembering the past times of heroes and feeling the enchantment of fairy tales when our song is ringing trough the night, when the fir trees are humming." Then we roamed into our tent and slept soon with sounds of sea and wind and some odd nightbirds. Good night to you too, mother! Kisses from your Poschti! |

Hello, Poschtis mom!
How are you? It is not Poschti who is writing, but Zoe I The Great, the legendary kiwi bird who learned to fly, the beautiful, the smart, the wonderf.. ok, ok, no need to hit me with more pillows! Anyway, I´m writing this update instead of Poschti, because he is not here anymore to write it himself, you see - he left towards his new destination. But he gave me strict orders what and how to write, ha haa! So I´m not mentioning here some interesting details, like twelve kilos of liquorice, glue on the rim of a toiletpot nor a cute female tram! So, we all gave him a tight hug and said farewell and all that - he is a very nice little fellow for a vehicle, and I´m happy he´s coming to spend more time with us in winter! By the way, madam, if you´re his mother, are you some kinda vehicle too? Nothing against vehicles, just asking.. I must say your son had difficulties in making up his mind when it came to the way of travelling to Germany! First he was thinking of stealing this lawnmover from Hennas this summers workplace, and we were all helping him to learn to use it while Henna was planting flowerbeds. It went very well and we all had great fun! But then we all realised he couldn´t reach the brakes! There went the lawnmover into the river. (Don´t tell Henna if she asks something about its whereabouts!) We hauled Poschti back upon the dry earth, and soon he found another means to travel, and in my opinion much more stylish! So, there he went, out from the window and onto the thin air with his bike, just like E.T! Maybe they are related? Only Poschti was singing the Starwars theme tune while he went, and he also shouted "Send many kisses to my mom!" And a hug from me too! And Henna sends her greetings! We wish to meet little Poschti soon again! Zoe |

Hello Mum,
Today I arrived in Sülfeld. When I came close to the house – I saw Dicker Kumpel and Kleine Fee sitting in the sunshine They came closer and were a little surprised, because they saw that I started my travel on a bike. I told them that I changed the bike – and decided to use this fast motorbike. We all went to the famous blue chair and I got to know the other guests here. All look friendly – I am sure that I will have a good time here. Love Poschti |

Hello Mum,
Today I went to a town near to Sülfeld – it is called Bad Segeberg. It has a wonderful church. This is the market place. During the summer time they play Winnetou in the open air theatre. All over the city you find different stakes. On this one was a big bird. And this stake was very colorful. Later I went to the Lake of Segeberg – can you see the Apache on the photo. The lake was really beautiful! We thought about going around it, but then we had to go home and wait for the Telekom-Man who wanted to repair our internet. Well Mum, the man from the Telekom didn't come. And we still have a lot of problems with the internet, that's why we update really late. Love Poschti |

Hello Mum,
Many greetings from Bremerhaven. We decided to go there, because Dicker Kumpel promised a big surprise for Sean here. But it will be tomorrow, today we explored the city. There were two really beautiful buildings. On the other side I saw the water from the river Weser. You can see that we are close to the Sea. There were some beautiful ships. Many emigrants started their travels here – this monument is a memory for these people. Behind me you can see the little harbor in the middle of the city. And these are the views out of our room. Hello Mum,
Today we went to the Zoo of Bremerhaven. We started with the ice bears. This one was a little tired at the beginning. His friend was not as tired. Then we came to the important part of the Zoo for Sean. I met two friendly penguins. Look – I saw funny feet. Who will this be? The feet of these birds. Later I met another tired animal – maybe the penguins were the only one – next to the birds – who didn't sleep. I saw a seal in the water. This was my last view over the Zoo – and I saw the two ice bears together. It was a nice day in the Zoo. Yours Poschti |

Hello Mum,
We went to Hamburg. This was the old part of the port, but now they built many new houses here. This is the Elbphilharmonie. It is a new building, too – and it gets more and more expensive. We decided to take a short trip on a boat. It is great to see the ships and the port from the Elbe River. This is a really old sailing ship. Well – maybe I will sail the seven seas in the future? This building is the ‘alter Elbtunnel’ - a building where you can reach a tunnel under the Elbe River. We decided not to walk under the Elbe, because it was a hot day. Here I learnt a lot about the Elbtunnel. Love Poschti |

Hello Mum,
It was a wonderful day today. We visited the Beatles Place in Hamburg – one of Rocky Raccoon’s life missions. Here you can see the Beatles. The Beatles Place is in a – well let me call it – not so nice part of Hamburg– RikeH told us not to have a closer look in this street. But back to the Beatles – maybe I am a member of the Beatles now? Then we continued our walk and visited a park called Planten un Blomen (plants and flowers). I liked this funny fountain. And they had wonderful flowers. We went into the tropical house and saw other beautiful plants. I learnt that this plant is called Mother-in-Law’s chair. Can you imagine why? It was a wonderful day in Hamburg, again. Yours Poschti |

Hello Mum,
Today was an important day…but not for us ToyVoyagers. Dicker Kumpel’s Mum RikeH married her finance on the lighthouse of Amrum today. We TVs were not with them, but we waited at home. There were only some gifts, because they decided to celebrate their wedding only as a couple. But someone wrote a huge card! Who was it? Well – how amazing! The ones of you who love Darts will definitely know this man! Then we looked into a small nice book with lovely poems about love and marriage. We all wanted to get a piece of the wedding cake! I liked the flowers! Later another gift arrived – it was from a very good friend of RikeH. We opened it and found this lovely pair of koala bears together with more nice stuff. But now I want to say: Congratulations RikeH! Love Poschti |

Hello Mum,
We took a walk to this nice small harbor today. We had delicious lunch in this colorful restaurant. These colorful signs were used on the North Sea to show some danger zones. Can you understand these sentences, if not, just ask me or RikeH. Then we stopped at a great playground. It was fun playing here. Later we continued our walk and went through the Dunes. Look, a beautiful house! And the Kniepsand – a very big beach! Some people took a bath in the North Sea. Yours Poschti |

Hi Mum,
In the morning I went onto our balcony and saw the ferry. Fortunately we still have some days here, so we enjoyed the sunshine. Later that day the weather went much better – and I took a walk to the small beach – and saw another ferry. Can you see the lighthouse far behind me? It was great sitting in the Dunes. And I found some nice shells. Love Poschti |
RikeH Posted Sep 10, 2013, 6:58 pm |
Hello Mum,
Can you read the words on this sign? I think it is welcome to Nebel. Nebel is a nice small village on the Amrum Island. There is a beautiful church. Out on the cemetery they have interesting gravestones. This is one of the oldest houses here. There are many thatched houses on the Island. This is another cemetery. It is used for unknown people found dead on the beaches of Amrum. My last stop was next to this beautiful mill. Yours Poschti |
RikeH Posted Sep 15, 2013, 10:58 am |
Hello Mum,
Sunday was our last day on Amrum – and we relaxed on our beach chair. We thought that it was boring to sit next to each other, so we all searched our own place. Can you find me? Yes, here I am! Later that day we drove home to Sülfeld. Bye Poschti |
RikeH Posted Sep 25, 2013, 6:51 pm |
Hello Mum,
It was a great day today. Murph and Nathalie came and visited us! We got a gift. Later it was time for a surprise. Dicker Kumpel built a Time Machine for us. We all were very surprised. He had to tell us more about the technology inside and hoped that we would try it with him. It went darker and darker. He opened the door. Should we trust him and try it out? Yes, we did! We all went into the machine. Bye – it will start soon! Love you Mum! There was a big silence inside the Time Machine and we only heard the noise of the Machine. Then the noise stopped and the door opened. Wow, what a trip! We all felt fine – but where were we – and WHEN were we? Murph and Dicker Kumpel jumped onto the Time Machine – it worked. We travelled through the time – it is Murph’s Birthday! Yours Poschti To be continued… |
RikeH Posted Sep 26, 2013, 8:25 pm |
Hello Mum,
27th of September! It was Murph’s birthday and we created a wall out of mushrooms for him. It looked great! Then we sang a wonderful birthday song for Murph. And he got some gifts! Then it was time for dinner. We had a marshmallows barbecue. It was great sitting around the fire with friends. Our marshmallows were ready. It was delicious! In the evening RikeH and HoBi had a great surprise for us! A firework! It went darker! It started! What a wonderful evening! Love Poschti |
RikeH Posted Sep 28, 2013, 10:55 am |
Hello Mum,
We woke up in the Time Machine. What date would it be? We were lucky, because we were back in the middle of September – it was the 15th of September – and again one of us had his birthday – it was TobiHH! We sang a song for him and wished him luck and happiness. Murph had a nice surprise for TobiHH. He invited him to come to Lower-Saxony with him. So we had to say goodbye to Murph, TobiHH and Nathalie. Goodbye friends! Yours Poschti |

Hello Mum,
We went to the Zoo of Hamburg – called Hagenbecks Tierpark. We started with really big animals – the elephants. Then we met a family of baboons. Can you see the big animals behind me – bears! Behind me there is the old entrance – it is so beautiful. The Zoo grew, and now it is inside the Zoo. There were nice gardens with lakes in the Zoo. I liked it here, because there were not only foreign animals, but also cows and other domestic animals. The newest part of the Zoo is called Arctic Sea. We started with the penguins. Do you know this animal? It is a walrus. There were 5 living in this basin. This was great – we could see them in the water. There were funny little animals, I don’t know the English name, but we found the latin one: Dolichotis patagonum. We came to very hugh animals, the giraffes. It was a great day here! Yours Poschti |

Hello Mum,
today I said goodbye to Dicker Kumpel. I was so sad that I had to leave, but then he invited me to come again next year. And he would help me to complete one of my life missions. That sounds great! I was not longer sad, and got a big hug from my friends here. Now I am on my way to the Netherlands and hopefully I will have a fast and safe trip. Yours Poschti |

Hi mum!
We had a nice surprise today! Cuty, who has been staying with Eohippus, send us a package from Finland. In it were: a lollipop, a hanger, a fridge magnet and some Finnish liquorice. Dutchy thought he looked like the hanger! Emjay ate the lollipop, which tasted like pear, and we tried the liquorice. It tasted really salty, but nice! You have to get used to it! We had a cozy afternoon, while it was raining outside. Thanks a lot for your lovely presents, Cuty! And have a great time in Paris! Bye, mum! your Poschti |
Emjay Posted Oct 19, 2013, 9:57 am |

Just to proof I'm REALLY in Delft! |
Emjay Posted Oct 19, 2013, 10:01 am |
It's nice and sunny today, so we go for a walk in a park, near Emjay's house. |
Emjay Posted Oct 19, 2013, 10:03 am |
We visit a lovely lady, who is originally from France. She is emjay's mother-in-law. We meet her teddybears and a few of her dolls. |
Emjay Posted Oct 19, 2013, 10:07 am |
Later in the afternoon Emjay had some stuff to do in the center of Delft. So she took me with her and a saw the Old Church and the New Church. It was just a short visit, but I can tell Delft is a beautiful town!

Bye mum! Greetings from me and my friends, your Poschti |
Emjay Posted Oct 23, 2013, 7:58 am |
Dear mum!
I walked to the center of Delft today. My TV friends came along, although they've seen the center before. We stopped at this beautiful building, that used to be the gunpowder house! Now it's in use by a scouting group. |
Emjay Posted Oct 23, 2013, 8:06 am |
This is the townhall. People come from all around the country to marry here. I can understand why! |
Emjay Posted Oct 23, 2013, 8:07 am |
Say cheeeese! |
Emjay Posted Oct 23, 2013, 8:11 am |
Delft is famous for it's Delft Blue pottery. Someone has painted this in the same style. Why bulls, you may ask. Well, this street is called "multicoloured ox alley" |
Emjay Posted Oct 23, 2013, 8:14 am |
A nice cat joined me on this Delft Blue chair. |
Emjay Posted Oct 23, 2013, 8:16 am |

Emjay Posted Oct 23, 2013, 8:24 am |
There are some great antique shops in Delft. |
Emjay Posted Oct 23, 2013, 8:29 am |
I'm at the old Cattle Market. On the square they used to sell cattle, like cows, pigs and sheep. Nowadays there are restaurants, bistro's and pubs around the square. On a sunny day (and even if it's not that sunny) you can sit at one of the terraces.
As a reminder of the cattle market, there's a statue of a cow on the square. |
Emjay Posted Oct 23, 2013, 8:31 am |
I end my walk around Delft at a nice, quiet canal.
|
Emjay Posted Oct 23, 2013, 8:34 am |
One day later I take a walk to a village called Den Hoorn. On my way I meet this friendly seal. Some time ago some vandals broke off his nose. That was a stupid and unnessesary thing to do. But now his nose is mended again! |
Emjay Posted Oct 23, 2013, 8:37 am |
It's a lovely day. In fact, it's the warmest day EVER on this date! It's 22 degrees Celsius!
I'm walking through a park with rows and rows of willows. |

Hi mum!
It was a beautiful day today and Emjay took us to the beach of Kijkduin, near The Hague. |
Emjay Posted Nov 15, 2013, 1:33 pm |
This is a watchtower, although it's not very high! |
Emjay Posted Nov 15, 2013, 1:35 pm |
Still, we had a nice view over the sea and over the dunes. It was great to feel the sunshine on my roof! Maybe for the last time, this year.
Bye, mum! Sunny greetings from Poschti |

Dear mum,
In The Netherlands children don't get presents from Santa Claus, but from St. Nikolas. His birthday is on December 6. The day before he gives presents to children and adults as well! Today St. Nikolas arrived by boat, with his helpers. Children are allowed to put their shoes in front of the fireplace. At night one of St. Nikolas helpers, called Pete, climbs down the chimney and puts a present in each shoe. Off course we want to try it! Emjay doesn't have a fireplace, so we put our shoes in front of the central heating. I don't wear shoes, but I could borrow one of a friendly Barbiedoll! |
Emjay Posted Nov 18, 2013, 7:20 pm |
The next day we looked in our shoes, but there was nothing in it...
Than we spotted a little bag with the images of St. Nikolas and Pete. What could be in it? I looked and... there are our presents! They are to big to put in our shoes! |
Emjay Posted Nov 18, 2013, 7:22 pm |
Here we are with our chocolate surprises! Dutch children are allowed to place their shoes every week, until it's December 5. On that day it's a BIG celebration with sweets and lots of presents! I'm looking forward to it!
Bye, mum! your Poschti |
Emjay Posted Nov 23, 2013, 2:25 pm |
Hi mum!
Cherry Lola was in Gouda today, the town of the famous cheeses. Off course she brought home one with... nettle! |
Emjay Posted Nov 23, 2013, 2:27 pm |
The next day we went to Kijkduin again. It was a cold, but sunny and dry day. We discovered a ship. But it's not a biiiiiig cruisehip, as in my life mission. Oh well, this will do for the time being! |
Emjay Posted Nov 23, 2013, 2:30 pm |
Here we are at the beach. It was just a quick visit, but it was nice!
Bye, mum! Til next time! your Poschti |
Emjay Posted Dec 2, 2013, 1:42 pm |

Emjay Posted Dec 2, 2013, 1:43 pm |
Cherry Lola had saved her Gouda cheese for a special occassion. She thought this was special enough, so we had a cheese party! |
Emjay Posted Dec 2, 2013, 1:45 pm |
The next day we brought Hemming breakfast in bed. He's a nice guy. I think we will have lots of fun together.
Bye, mum! your Poschti |

Hi mum!
We have a new friend: Rudolph. He will be released in the wild as part of the big Christmas ToyVoyager Release! |
Emjay Posted Dec 4, 2013, 10:31 am |
In the evening there was a knock at the door. We thought it was "Sinterklaas", but it was the postman. He delivered a package. It it a new TV? |
Emjay Posted Dec 4, 2013, 10:32 am |
It's Dille, Emjay's TV. She is back from a trip to San Diego. Welcome home, Dille! |
Emjay Posted Dec 4, 2013, 10:35 am |
We decided to make a cheese cake in Dille's honor and she lend us a hand. |
Emjay Posted Dec 6, 2013, 12:38 pm |
Dear mum!
Tonight is the celebration of Sinterklaas. There's a big basket of presents on the table and a bowl of "kruidnootjes" (that means "spicenuts") Suomi-Girls picks out the first present. It's for Cherry Lola. |
Emjay Posted Dec 6, 2013, 12:41 pm |
Cherry Lola got an angel for the Christmastree. Hemming picked out a present for me and it was... a dvd of Zuid-Holland. That's the province where Emjay lives.
I climbed into the basket and I picked out a present for Suomi-Girl. |
Emjay Posted Dec 6, 2013, 12:43 pm |
At the end of the evening we all had four presents! Our belly's were stuffed with kruidnootjes. Oof! |
Emjay Posted Dec 6, 2013, 12:45 pm |
Look, mum, these are my presents: a dvd, a little candle shaped as a bear, tissues that look like euro banknotes and "chocolate hail" (typcially Dutch) to sprinkle on your bread. Nice, isn't it? Sinterklaas is a great chap to give us all those presents! |
Emjay Posted Dec 6, 2013, 12:51 pm |
It was great to celebrate Sinterklaas with my friends last night. But now it's time for me to move on. My next destination is Portugal! I will stay with Henna. Yay! I love to meet her again! She was my host before in Finland.
We all come together to eat cheesecake. |
Emjay Posted Dec 6, 2013, 12:53 pm |
It's Cherry Lola's last day too. Before we get into our packages we take a breath of fresh air in the garden. |
Emjay Posted Dec 6, 2013, 12:53 pm |
Bye, bye, dear friend! |
Emjay Posted Dec 6, 2013, 12:54 pm |
A group's hug, while Fancy Pearl is watching us! |
Emjay Posted Dec 6, 2013, 12:56 pm |
Cherry Lola gets into her box and than I get into my envelope.
Bye everyone! Bye, mum! I'm on my way to Portugal! Your Poschti |

Hello, dear mom!
Hello, auntie Emjay too! I´m in Laranjeiro, Portugal again! I came last week, but I´ve been too busy to tell you how I came here. And guess what, I´m going to tell you about that only in my next update, since now I just want to put here pics of our Christmas eve! So, who could have guessed.. my first photo from Portugal shows me CLEANING! Christmas cleaning, said Henna, is important, and told us to sweep the floors! Hmph! But she promised us gifts when the whole house would be clean.. and so we cleaned! After sweeping the floors we lit some candles and brought in the hyasints from the balcony. What a wonderful smell! It started to feel like Christmas right away! Henna gave us our promised gifts - a pile of Portuguese christmas chocolates! Njam njam! We took (what was left after 10 seconds) our chocolates and went to the livingroom, where Henna was calling us to go. She had been decorating the Christmas tree! That also explained the cursing we heard - the horrible every-year tangle of the christmastree lights! Hah! We sneaked under the tree and started to climb! Soon we were all up there, adventuring on the branches, watching all the decorations, balls, elves, snowmen and the lights of different colours! Ha haa! We all went a bit wild with it all! It was like a giant Christmas disco for us, and we were all soon singing and dancing and chasing each other trough the tree and hanging from it on our knees (wheels). And then we were hiding and giggling near the trunk when Henna came ask "What´s happening here?" after some balls had dropped onto the floor.. "Must be the cats!" she said, and we were making faces under the branches. Then we went to rob the table! There was a fantastic portuguese christmas cake called Bolo Rei (King Cake), and also a Christmas log with chocolate topping, and almonds and nuts and cookies.. We ate so much that we couldn´t move for some hours. We had to lay down on the table and guess what! Henna was tickling us! So we had a very enjoyable Christmas eve! Feliz Natal! Hyvää Joulua! Merry Christmas to all of you! |

Hello again, dear mom!
I came here to tell now on my arriving here. Sorry, auntie Emjay, the envelope you gave me as my means of transportation was very comfortable, but you see, the postwagon which was taking me from Netherlands to Portugal happened to be female, and her motor was purring so sweetly, that I had to get out of my envelope to see her! After two days of happy flirting she had to turn towards Spain. So I drowe to Lisbon and went to see my old *friends*. Oo, the beautiful Lisbon trams! I was having great time with them for some days, but then I remembered that Henna and Zoe and Tuli were waiting for me, and you mom, and you, auntie Emjay, were worried about my whereabouts, and so I left to search for Henna and the gang. I of course knew already that it was about useless to search for them in urban surroundings, and so I followed my instincts along small and smaller paths to the countryside. I drowe past a wineyard, ears open for any toyvoyagerist sounds. I climbed an opuntia, but the only toyvoyager sounds I heard were my own: "Ouch! Ouch! Ouch!" I saw beautiful flowers called here "maias". But no toyvoyagers! There was a ancient olive tree growing beside the path, and it looked just the spot for toyvoyagers been hiding in. But there was only some ants and they had not seen any toyvoyagers. Actually they didn´t even know what a toyvoyager IS. What ignorance! I was starting to feel a bit unsure if it would have been anyway better to stay inside the envelope, cute postwagns or not.. I took a nap in a fluffy cloud of some sort and ah what joy! I heard voices which COULD´nt be anything else but the sounds of toyvoyagers! I heard one voice saying "Imagine how it would look if instead of olives these trees were growing herrings!" and other little voices giggling insanely. It was clear - Zoe and her friends! The voices were coming nearer, so I was waiting on the path, and soon I saw them! "Hello, Zoe! Hello, Tuli! Hello, all of you!" I shouted and jumped on my wheels. "Gee!" they shouted back and then we run to each others arms. I was hugging my old friends and my new friends and the olive trees a bit too, since I was so happy! My friends explained to me that they were going to climb a hill to see the Palmela castle ruins on top of it. I was of course ready at once! So we walked along narrow paths in middle of nowhere again, and it felt so familiar! This is what I was doing a lot last spring with the gang in Finland! After some climbing we saw some buildings on top of the hills. We had lots of fun climbing, playing and singing together and carrying each others in turns. We were soon coming near the ruins on the hilltop. There was a gate, trough which we entered. What we saw was a total mix - some medieval castle walls combined with more modern building phases and even a hotel built on the same hilltop. So it wasn´t very interesting, but the view from up there was great! Isn´t it beautiful? We sat for some time admiring the view - we could see the river Tejo far away in the horizon. Then we headed towards home together! At home I gave all the gifts from auntie Emjay to my friends (I deposited them into my trunk when escaping the envelope) . They had lots of fun with the tissues looking like 500 euro bills. They asked me to write here many thanks for auntie Emjay for all the nice things and for the beautiful postcard showing a cute squirrel! Then we ate a healthy meal of grilled sardin with rice! See you soon again! Kisses from Poschti. |

Bom dia, querida mãe!
Bom Novo Ano para ti! I´m here to tell you about our trip to a place called Cabo da Roca. Cabo da Roca is the westernmost spot of the European mainland (yes, just forgot the islands exist. Sorry, British Isles! Ha haa! ) This memorial is showing the official westernmost point and telling the coordinates of it. We loitered to see the lighthouse of Cabo da Roca. It is haunted! Huu! It is hard to believe, watching it in such a gorgeous day, but when the night comes and the moon is veiled by heavy clouds and the wind is rising and making the sea turn restless, the ghost of the lighthouse gets restless too, and he can be seen running over the rocks, trying to warn a ghostship about the rocks near the shore.. ..or at least that is what Zoe was telling us! We hopped right away over the fence showing us where we should and where we shouldn´t go, and got our first glimpse of the wonderful view over the Atlantic. We walked downwards along the edge of the ridge, and watching towards east and inlands we saw this beautiful, green valley. (Doesn´t it make you feel like little Heidi?) There was growing many interesting plants, but even Zoe didn´t recognice most of them. This flower is for you, mom! Watching towards the west there was the Atlantic ocean. There was very interesting looking rocks protruding out of it. I didn´t see any traces of the ghost ship, though, phew! Towards west there was, of course, the sea, and a very steep rocky wall. The seashore down there looked so interesting that we decided to go down - easier said than done! It was almost a straight wall to climb down, but we helped each other. This is the route we came down! It has been raining many days, and so there was a small brook climbing down the rocks with us! It certainly seemed to be easier for her! Soon we were on the shore. It was full of wonderful, smooth rocks, polished round by the sea. It was an beautifully odd landscape we saw from that beach. Without the sea it would look like a landscape in moon, don´t you think? And speaking of moon - Henna told us Cabo da Roca was a holy place both in the Roman period and much earlier in the Neolithic age. There has been interesting items found here related to the lunar cult. No wonder, the place is so beautiful, and certainly it must feel like being nearer to the moon on a moonlit night. The sea beating against the rocks and swirling back and forth between the rounded stones on the shore made a hypnotizing sound, which made us to run and hop and shout like maniacs. (And how does that be different from your normal behaviour? Asked Henna) Wouldn´t you like to be here with us? We spent there some hours playing, and then we climbed back up, because we had still some way to walk. The prospect of climbing up didn´t look so very inviting. But here we are up again. Surprisingly it was easier to climb up than down! There was a whole forest of blooming woodsorrels up there! Or at least some members of the family woodsorrels.. Henna had decided that we would walk to Sintra, about 15 kilometers away, and so we started to follow beautiful little paths, up and down. We saw more and more beautiful landscapes all around us. We could still see the official memorial in the horizon, but soon it disappeared behind a new hill. Uh huh, we were happy the sun went behind clouds every now and then! We saw new little beaches appearing under our feet (wheels) and all of them looked just wonderful spots to go and spend time on. On one hill there was growing many Macrolepiota procera mushrooms. We took some with us - they are good to eat. We saw also many bulb flowers. These are maybe some wild form of Narcissus. Then we left the shore and walked trough a woodland area towards Sintra. Here we are walking past the Seteais palace. When we got to Sintra we were all a bit tired and hot, and so we hopped into a shower. See you soon again, dear mom! Kisses from Poschti! |

Boa tarde, querida mãe!
É a tua camionette pequenina que tá a escrever! It has been mainly a very rainy weather here in Portugal, but when the sky clears up a bit, we go out to see new things. Last friday we took a train into a small town called Sintra, about thirty kilometers from Lisbon. While we walked trough the town I realised there was many things to see! But this time we were going to visit a palace called Palácio da Regaleira, and to see it´s famous garden. We passed a beautiful fountain on our way. In earlier times people got their drinking water from these fountains. The water is led into them from small brooks which run on the Sintra hills. We passed also a shrine dedicated to Nossa Senhora da Pena - one of the many apparitions of virgin Mary. There was many gifts taken there by people whom the virgin had been helping in different illnesses. Sintra is a very green little town - it has its own micro-climate, which is much more humid than in the surrounding areas. Here is Palácio da Regaleira. It was built by Carvalho Monteiro, who was very interested into different esoteric movements. So the whole place is full of symbolics to do with freemasonism, alchemics and rosecrucianism and whatnot. Hmm! Sounds like perfect scenario for a Dan Brown film to me! We went inside. I rather fancied the door handle! Could I not have one like this on the door of my room at home, ma? Inside it was, sadly, too dark to take pics. Only the big hall was properly illuminated. We peeped also inside the small chapel. But it was somewhat dark there too. The angels came to stare at me. They had not seen a postbus before. They all wanted to kiss me! So we went out again and started to investigate the gardens. It was an amazing place - full of details hidden and to be found by those who have time. We did! First we entered the Terrace of Gods. They were mainly gods from the Greek mythology. I don´t know who he was, actually, but he was grinning so cunningly that I went to say hi. I saw this goddess holding a cornucopia in her hands, and I went to peek into it in case there might be any sweets popping out from it. It spit out a small jellybear I ate immediately. I liked this god most of them all. I think it must be something much more primordial than the rest of the lot. We protruded deeper inside the park. It is built on a hillside, and so there is lots of rather wonky stairs leading up and down. We saw wonderful trees! This is a sequoia. And interesting plants! Every now and then we encountered a small turret or fountain or statue or a cave in midst of the vegetation. Or a little bench on which to rest in midst of all stair - climbing! That´s what was so delighful - there was some sort of suprise on almoust every step! This cave was called Leda´s cave. Although some surprises are more wellcome than the others! We rested a bit on the edge of one of the fountains.. ..and suddenly a monster attacked from its depths and tried to eat me! Luckily it soon realised little postbuses are not very nutritious, and as a punisment I made it to give me a ride twenty times round the fountain. Ha! We saw another fountain. The winding stairs and twisted paths took us higher, and we decided to climb one of the towers to see the views. There was lots of stairs to climb! But from the top we got a very beautiful view over the surrounding landscape. There you can see the historical centrum of Sintra town! Then we came down again and went on with our ramblings. I met some dubious looking characters. This one had bunches of grapes hanging from his ears! One more little fountain! The magnolias were in their full bloom everywhere in the garden! Some of the little paths had a wonderful, pink carpet to walk on! I found a new spring hat! Ain´t I cute, mom? We saw a pretty pompous bench! And a friendly little dog. And more odd-looking buildings, made, undoubtly, for some odd nightly seremonies. We followed a small path again. And saw a tree with a huge burl! We saw the entrance of an interesting looking cave! Here! Could you resist, mom? We didn´t even try! From the cave left underground passageways to different directions! The passages led us up and down, pass subterranean pools. Until we ended up on the bottom of a well! It´s not a real well, I mean, not one from which people would be getting water. It is an initiation well, used in the occult rituals. They say that an initiate had to spend a night alone in the well, during which he was going to meat different spirits and whatnot. Propably the other cult members in white bedsheets! There is people who still come here secretly at nights, climbing over the walls.. But we climbed up the stairs and out from the well! Here we are on the surfice again! Phew! It was time to go home! See you soon again, dear mom! Kisses from Poschti! |

Hullo, hullo, hullo!
Do you have snow there, mom? We have just rain and more rain, and fog, for a change, when the clouds need to rest for a day and collect more water in their innards. It was a very foggy day when we went again to Sintra, to climb the ruins of a mediaeval castle. In Sintra we walked trough a park called Parque da Liberdade. It had some odd inhabitants, and they were staring at us while we passed. We were heading upwards, since the castle ruins are on top of a hill. After the park we followed some secret paths, always upwards. It started to rain, and we were hiding inside a cave for some time, but it was too humid for the camera to take pics. After climbing the wet and slippery, rocky hillside, we reached the castle walls. (without paying the tickets. ) The castle was built on the Sintra hills by the moors in the 8th and 9th century, during the arab occupation of the Iberian peninsula. There is many legends connected to the castle. According to one there was a moorish princess who fell in love with a christian boy. Her father got so angry with her, that he cast a spell over both, unhappy lovers, and they are still living on the hill, a ghostlike, neverending existence, unable to leave the spot, in which the spell fixed them. Zoe told me that on a sunny weather there is great views from the castle over the landscape around, but we couldn´t see absolutely anything! But the fog gave the place a slightly unreal atmosphere. I was almost ready to believe enchanted moorish princesses appearing from the midsts of it. After the conquest of Lisbon (1147), the castle surrendered voluntarily to Christian forces. The king then shared the Sintra lands to some highborn bimbos, with the responsibility to militarily secure the area. I rather think that for the poor, common people it was about all the same who was on power - muslims or christians. Their life was always as hard, the lands they were tilling gifted away in front of their noces. The legends about the enchanted moors weren´t fairytales for people, though. For centuries people told stories about enchanted mooresses, left to Portugal by their fathers, when escaping the christian forces, to guard over hidden treasures. According to the stories the treasures would feel into the hands of the person who managed to break the enchantment of the moors. And people were trying! Using different grimoires - especially the "book of st. Cyprian", they climbed to certain caves and hilltops to utter odd magical formulas in hope of getting rich.. Pretty sad, actually. The fog was getting even thicker! I could hardly see my back wheels! We sat on one of the walls, discussing the wonderful atmosphere on the place, and how it would serve as a scenery for a great film with ghosts and mysterious happenings. Don´t you agree? Then we left the castle and headed back down and home, because the fog was starting to chill us until our bones. Funny to be cold in Portugal, I know, but we were! Or maybe there was some ghostly currents.. I wish you keep warm! A hug from Poschti! |

Hello again, mom!
We´ve all been a bit lazy to make updates lately, so now I´m in a real hurry to make all my updates before saturday, when I´m going to leave this crazy gang here. So - first I´ll put here some pics from Pena palace garden where we went one day. This is the Pena palace itself. Looks like a fairytale castle, doesn´t it? Well, no wonder - it was built in the romantic period of Portuguese history, according to the mental images people of those days had about how a royal palace should look like. We didn´t go in, because Henna already knows it is not allowed to take photos inside, and what´s the joy of going in if we can´t share our experiences with other toyvoyagers? Instead we went for a walk in the palace gardens. it is a quite big area, divided into different kind of sections. This is the Garden of Camellias. It was quite amazing - all those colourfull flowers shining against the dark green shades behind. We were imagining the royal family ladies promenading in the gardens with their parasols, carefully not to step on mud with their dainty silk slippers.. And then we put on suitable headwear and played to be such promanaders ourselves too! We found a pergola. It must look wonderfull when the visteria climbing on it wakes alive, with all it´s purple flowers. But now it was just dry and brown. I´m sure the 19'th century royals would be quite amazed if they could saw us sitting in their pergola. Maybe they did. I wish they don´t come to kling any ghostly chains for us at nighttime! There was some interesting looking little buildings appearing trough the heavy foliage. And a fountain, but there was no water in it. (Which was good, because after our friend Tuli plunged into the river Henna has been quite hysterical about us being near any water at all. What a drag! Like any of us others would be interested into froggish love calls! We walked under an arch and came into what was called "The Fern Valley of the Queen". It seems that the queen whateverhernamewas was very fond of ferns, and wanted a lot of different species be planted into the garden. They were really gracefull things. But guess what? I got the first mosquito bites of this year under them! And it is only February! We saw a small building which pretends to be some kind of moorish temple. It was made for the people to shit in shade on very hot days, sipping their humble tea. Why on earth is tea called humble, mom? We were debating about that for a long time, wondering what if all things we drink and eat have somekinda characteristics. Well, like nervous buttermilk or nasty rye bread, not to mention the loony beetroot. Not that anyone of us would ever drink buttermilk anyway, yaiks! We saw very fantastical looking trees! Sadly I´ve forgotten their name.. And then we climbed a hill, where they have erected a cross called Cruz Alta. It is a habit here, to erect crosses on top of hills, kinda sanctifying them. As you can see, the garden is a really big one, because we were still inside it, and the palace was so far away could hardly see it. Then we came down again and admired the ivy covered trees. It makes them look like they had clothes on. Then we found a series of artificial lakes. There was small brooks running between them and small waterfalls too. Can you hear Henna shouting? "Don´t you go a step nearer of that water, or I put you all on a leash!" Thanks, Tuli. Classically, it started to became a bit dark, and we heade back home. Your enthusiastic traveller, Poschti |

Hello, mommy! Here I am again!
Phew! We have taken so many photos and not had enough time to make updates! It´s all Henna´s fault. She is so busy with her studies she losts the count of time. Anyway, in this update you´ll see nothing but landscapes and nature. That´s were we spend the time when our host goes crazy with her studies. We recognice the signs - she starts to spend more time upside down standing on her head than on her feet, and then we know it is time to drag her out to the nature. Here we are following a small path somewhere on the Serra da Sintra. That is an area where it is possible to walk about 15 kilometers to different directions between the towns of Sintra and Cascais, without meeting too many people, just some similarly odd hikers and bikers. There is many little brooks and rivers running trough the area, from the hills towards the Atlantic ocean in the west and the lower lands of Mafra in the east. Yes, it was one of the bigger rivers into which our friend Tuli hopped. Here she is still with us. I hope she sees these updates somewhere and giggles her wits off (if she has any). Here we are following a small brook, called Ribeira da Mula, which leads onto a water reservoir. As you can imagine, the lack of fresh water has always been one of the biggest troubles in Portugal. So in earlier times they tried to collect all the rainwater of the winter to be used later in the dry summer. They built all sorts of reservoirs and aqueducts and channels to lead the waters to fountains or onto fields. I love the sound of running water! Don´t you, mom? I always spend some time near the specially delicious sounds. Here we are coming near to the reservoir lake. Here! We reached it! This one is quite big - it could almost be a small Finnish lake. Here you can see the dam built to prevent the water from running towards the sea. The lake has also real little sandy beaches, but it is not allowed to swim here, because the water is meant to be consumed. I think some people do, anyway. Here we are following a bit bigger road, surrounded by eucalyptus trees. No koalas, sadly. We passed a ruined farmhouse. And an old lime owen. The mimosas were in full bloom! If you walk trough a bush like that, you´re quite yellow when coming out! And then the road took us onto a totally different landscape. Onto open hills, grass and flowers! It feels good to breath in this kind of landscape. Even Henna calms down and forgets her studies for some hours. For us the flowers and grass is like a different kind of forest. Between the flowers hang spider webs decorated with raindrops. Beautiful! It started to rain, and Henna collected us into her backback, where we spent rest of the trip singing encouraging songs to her, while she walked still ten more kilometers trough rain and mud. It is good to be a toyvoyager! |

Titityy, guess who´s here again!
Ha ha, the others are having fun with my updating, asking if this is some kind of marathon or something. Yes, something like that. Now it is time to show pics from Monserrate palace and garden in Sintra we took last week. Here is the palace of Monserrate. It is one of the many summer residences of the Portuguese court. There is so many "summer palaces" of the royal family that I wonder how did they have time to spend in all of them? The palace is built, like Pena palace, in the romantic period, and it is clear to see. The place is full of hints to mediaeval time and oriental architects. What I´m standing on is the first ever lawn planted in Portugal. There was a beautiful fountain in front of the palace. We decided to peek inside, although it was clear it would be a bit too dark inside to take many photos.. This is the central corridor. Just watch the detailed ornaments everywhere! Here is the beautiful central dome. Even the stairs were full of ornaments. Most decorations inside the house picture plant and animal themes. I also went to see the kitchen of the palace. The palace was great, but I don´t think I would like to live in it.Or maybe.. with, let´s say, about five hundred other toyvoyagers! We went back outside, still discussing what kind of life five hundred toyvoyagers could be leading in such a place. Five hundred pairs of roller scates would certainly form part of the pic! Around the palace was a very wellkept garden. The aloes were blooming red. I wouldn´t mind stepping out from the door into this garden in mornings. I could have my humble tea with the guarrelsome sconces under the palm trees. There was a brook running on the bottom of the garden. We are never very far from the water here. It makes Henna nervous. We tried to comforrt her by saying it is a great thing to have so many running streams around us - no need to afraid of any vampires following us! There was calla lilies growing on the banks of the brook. I tried how it would feel to be a bee, but I was a bit too big. Deeper in the garden there was a ruin of a chapel. Well, it is not a genuine one.. every respectable household had to have a ruin in the garden in the romantic time the palace was built, and so they also built a ruin.. Well, genuine or not, it was pretty impressive with the trees growing inside it and on top of it. Leaving the place we encountered a small waterfall, the little brook entering the estate. And then we left home, because, can you guess? Was it becoming dark or were we hungry? Heh, yes, the second option is correct! Kisses from your adventurous little bus. |

Hip hei, mom!
Could you have guessed it´s me again, your bright (and I don´t just mean the colour, krhm!) yellow bus! Now it´s time to come away from Sintra, where we have spend some days, and make a small tour in Almada, on the southern bank of the river Tejo, where our toyvoyager gang is residing. Here I´m walking trough the small historical centre of Almada town. It was quite a small town still fifty years ago, and round the old centre there was mainly fields and farmhouses and big orange plantations. But the city has grown round the centre like a dough with too much yeast, to give a realistic picture about it. We popped in to see a garden of Casa da Cerca, which is a little art and exhibition centre in an old house. The garden is hanging on the edge of Tejo. It is time for poppies to start their blooming here. We were sitting in the sun on typical little benches next to a (shut) window. I don´t know why it is shut, but it irritated our imagination, and we started to create various theories about what-might-there-be -behind-that-window. Zoe suggested there to be something similar to the famous Area 51, full of parts of flying saucers crashed onto the earth, and some captured aliens. Mr Casanova (who always has somewhat heated imagination) made a suggestion about some secret orgies goin on, so that we had to cover the ears of 3*Euros, who is too small to listen to such theories. He came up with the idea of a private banana plantation, bless his innocent heart, and Mr Shaun was looking dreamily up into the skies and talking softly about green, neverending pasturelands, full of fluffy sheep, bells on their necks. Oh? My theory? Well.. I came up with the idea of secret nightly meeting point of buses and trams from different part of the world. Henna said we´re old bimbos and told us to imagine all those things just mentioned combined together being behind the window. We did it, and then we were laughing so much we couldn´t move. So Henna dropped us in middle of an ivy bush to cool down a bit. Then wee walked roundd the garden, admiring the views over Tejo. Hah, Lisbon on the opposite shore looks like a pancake from this perspective. Doesn´t it? There was wonderful flowers, some sort of daises, maybe? Who knows? Yeah, you´re right, I´ve been posing lately a lot with flowers on my head. They suit me so well. Deep in my heart I´m a hippie, you know. maybe you could decorate my sides with different colored flowers, like the hippie-time kleinbusses had. Huh? What about it? We left the little garden and walked forward, to meet my old friend Cristo Rei. Here we are passing the Ponte 25 de Abril. I was a bit unsure if he would remember me still. It was a year since I was here last time, and there must be thousands of visitors every month coming here. But no trouble! He spotted me right away! "Hi! You there! Yes, you, little bright (I don´t think he ment just the colour either!) yellow and red bus! Wellcome back! So nice to se you again!" he shouted. So I took the elevator up to meet him. "Hello, dear Cristo Rei!" said I. "How are you?" "Hah, dear little Poschti!" said he, "Getting better every moment, seeing you little brats again aroun me!" he answered. And then we watched the views around, and chatted this and that with him. Zoe asked him if he knows what is behind that closed window in Casa da Cerca, and he answered that sure, there is a secret flying saucer deposit, and he was laughing so that the tower was shaking and people started to scream. Odd that they couldn´t hear our conversation, but, people are mainly deaf, anyway. We all wished him a peacefull summer and many refreshing diwes into the river. Ha haa, and then left home, because Henna made us to go. I´ll be back! Poschti |

Can you imagine it, mom?
Still one more royal summer palace! Yes, you heard right! Still one more! This one is called Palacio de Queluz, and we visited it last saturday. This palace was conceived as a summer retreat for Dom Pedro of Braganza, a member of the royal family, who married his own niece, who had inherited the crown, to sneak into power. I must say that the more I read about these royal bimbos, the less I like them. Did the poor Queen Maria really want to marry her old uncle? Yaiks, I doubt it. Besides, how come all these palaces are "summer residences"? Where on earth did they live during winter, I just ask? Or maybe they were like some kinda vampires - retreating into their coffins for winters? (All right, all right, I know vampires don´t do that, and yes, it sounds more like some sort of hibernation, no need to hit me with pillows, Zoe, I just happened to like more the vampire comparison! Anyway, we visited the palace and started the tour in the gardens. "Queluz is famed for the glory of its gardens, which include a large topiary parterre laid out in the manner of Le Nôtre", says Wikipedia. Since I don´t understand a word of that, I would be very happy, if someone who does, would translate it to me too in a form a normal mortal can get it!| I would just say, that near the palace they had these hedgerows cut in very funny ways, and different statues and fountains and little paths in middle of them. Farer away on the grounds there was orange orchyards and artificial lakes and all other equipment of that sort of places. "Later to be a popular feature in Portuguese gardens, the Queluz cascade was the first artificial waterfall to be constructed near Lisbon." Ohoo! And yes, Zoe, when I said "normal mortal" I meant myself! Gee, isn´t she in a teasing mood today! It is because I´m leaving tomorrow and she knows she maybe doesn´t have an opportunity to tease me again for some time! We met a sfinks in the garden. We were first pretty weary with her, in case she would start to make us any riddles in hope of getting to strangle us, like we had heard she used to do in earlier times. Well, actually, she asked a riddle from us, but we all knew the answer right away! "What is red and up in the tree?" Do you know, mom? No? You don´t know? Gee! Come on! It is "Occupied squirrel toilet". We walked a bit farer away from the palace, amongst the fruit trees. I don´t know about those cut hedges and bushes. I like bushes to grow naturally, but these fruit trees are something! I wouldn´t mind picking the oranges for my own juice in the mornings. Unless it was raining. They keep horses on the palace grounds. We didn´t see any, but the paths were paved with horse poop. I´m sure they weren´t on the times the royal family was living here! We headed back to the palace yard to investigate the fountains and whatnot they had there. I think the pale pink building with the pale blue doors is actually very cute! If i wasn´t so dashingly yellow and red, I would maybe like to be pale pink and blue. I wonder if these statues are anyhow refelcting the life the royal family was leading here. There was blooming hyacinths! It felt a bit funny to see them, because for me they have always been christmas flowers. But of course, this is their natural time to bloom. Hah, did you know they´re related to asparagus? I didn´t, but there was a plaque informing us about it! What do you think this is, mom? To me it looks like a woman sitting on the back of a helluwa big codfish, holding a many-storeyed cake tray. But i don´t think it is. At least it would be hard to find an explanation for such subject. Unless the royal family´s history has some interesting twists. Hmm.. actually, the merovingian kings have been rumoured to have a sea monster in their lineage. I was helping a naked brat to empty his beer can, and then we went inside the palace. Inside there was.. about thousand or so rooms. Or at least it felt like it. This is the ballroom, in which they had.. uh, balls? Ha ha, just kidding. Here they were dancing those stiff Rococo dances. This was the bedroom of some queen or princess or something of that sort. A painting of a virtuous maiden over the bed and two stupid looking porcelane dogs on the table. This form the palace´s chapel. It was very dark there. This is Sala de Mangas. I didn´t see any Japanese cartoons anywhere, though. The blue and white tiles were showing pics about the wealth of the Portuguese colonies. This is.. uh, I don´t have any idea what room this is! After some time all the corridors, paintings, furniture and details just started to go carousell in our heads. The poor queen Maria went loony on her older days, and she was hiding in the palace, never going out anymore. I´m happy she had, at least, lots of room around her. This is a.. very red room, indeed! Suitable setting for a spiritual sceance or something else I´m not going to say aloud in these family friendly surroundings. Here is still one more room. If you agree, we can call it for example "a room with a very glossy table". The table had, by the way, the hoofs of a goat. It is a shame they are not in the pic. This is a room with a very funny waterbird shaped pot on the table. This is from the Hall of Ambassadors. The royal couple was receiving them sitting on these pompous chairs. I wonder who got the higher chair? The queen who had the birthright to the crown or her uncle/husband? This was my favorite room - the queen´s boudoir. It looks like a fair carousell of later times to me. Uh, that was enough of Portuguese palaces for some time! I´ll still pop in before leaving these premises! Your Poschti |

Hello, mom!
Next day the partying continued in the TV meeting. I met there the new friends I´m going to go to new adventures with, and my new hostmom Rike. They are all so nice, and I´m so happy to go with them for the cruise ship! I said farewells to Zoe and the other gang, and I don´t think I´ve ever before been saying farewells in such great spirits! So, many kisses from you happy little bus! |

Hello Mum,
As you know I am on the Cruise Ship now. We had a welcome party for me. We had chocolate and fruits. And I had my own bottle of Coke. Then we all took one piece of fruit and one piece of chocolate. It was a nice party, but then we were tired and went into our TV-bed. Good night, Mum! Yours Poschti |

Hello Mum,
After a bumpy trip from Lissabon we arrived in La Coruna. Because of the stormy weather we will stay two days here. Today we took a walk. Behind me you can see the harbor. There were many small fisherboats. From this point we had a good view of our Cruise Ship – it is really tall, isn’t it? So I think that I complete one of my life missions! There was a fortress – nowadays it is a museum. We saw big waves – maybe it is a good idea to stay a little longer in this town? Believe it or not – only some steps from the water I found this sunny place with the beautiful flowers. These houses with the balconies with glass in front of it are typical for La Coruna. This is the town hall – really nice. Back on the ship I stood on the balcony – can you see the fortress behind me – there we went. And I want to show you this – every evening we got these chocolates – a Cruise is wonderful. Yours Poschti |

Hello Mum,
I told you about the bumpy trip to la Coruna. We took some photos of it, but I forgot to update it. So here can you see me and my friends looking out of the window. Here you can see nothing from the rough sea… But now you can see more – the waves! I went onto the balcony and saw the waves on the side of the ship. Today the weather was much nicer! Later I went onto the pool-deck. There was a big screen on the deck! Here you can see the name of the cruise line. Love Poschti |

Bonjour Mum,
It was time for a new country – this time we were in France. We arrived in Le Havre. The architect here loved concrete - you see it everywhere. We wanted to see a nicer town and went to Honfleur. There was a beautiful harbor! We went into a big wooden church. Here you can see the tower of it. There were many old buildings in the town. Later we continued our trip and went to Deauville. This is the promenade next to the beach. The clothing rooms are named after famous movie stars. We walked along the beach – it was wonderful! There were funny houses in the city. Au revoir Poschti |

Hello Mum,
Today was our last day on the AIDA Sol. I walked over the sun deck again – very sunny! This is the theatre inside the ship. This is one of many bars on the ship. Now I want to show you my cabin. This is the living-room. And this is my bedroom. Here you see me on my balcony. It is great to be on a Cruise Ship! Hopefully the weather will be nice tomorrow, because we want to have nice views when we arrive in Hamburg. Love Poschti |

Hello Mum,
Great news Mum, we had lovely weather when we arrived in Hamburg. It was so great to arrive in the port on the Elbe River. Will I see a nice sunrise? Yes, there it was! Far behind me you see a big bridge. Hamburg is a really beautiful city! There were two theaters for musicals – the left one is not open yet. We spent our last hours on the ship relaxing on our balcony. It was a really wonderful cruise. We should do one together soon, Mum. Love Poschti |

Hello Mum,
Back in Germany we had lovely weather, so today it was time for a walk. The nature starts now – because it is springtime. It was nice to sit in the sunshine with my friends. Soon there will be some swans on the lake. We came along another beautiful small lake. This is Dicker Kumpel’s famous tree. We all have to take photos with it every time we see it. Back home we saw the German flag. This stone stood in front of Dicker Kumpel’s house. Look, the first flowers arrived! Yours Poschti |

Hi Mum,
We went to a small town called Bad Oldesloe. This is the biggest church here. I went into it – there were colorful windows. I met two wooden men. There was a big organ. Sadly nobody was there to play it. Then I came to a nice water wheel. I learnt a lot about it on this sign. Yours Poschti |
RikeH Posted Apr 8, 2014, 2:34 pm |
Hello Mum,
The weather was great today, so we played in the garden. Dicker Kumpel is a great gardener and I want to show you some of his flowers. I loved this forest of yellow flowers! These flowers were so nice, too. Blue flowers are great, too. Springtime is one of the best time of the year! Yours Poschti |
RikeH Posted Apr 13, 2014, 11:52 am |
Hello Mum,
It was time for some sports – and we decided to play billiards. Dicker Kumpel explained the rules. He showed us how to play. Then it was my time. It was so much fun! Dicker Kumpel and I played 6:6. Then I explored the room. A horse lived here in the Past, I guess. Then I tried to call you, but maybe you were not at home. Love Poschti |
RikeH Posted Apr 21, 2014, 4:12 pm |
Hello Mum,
Dicker Kumpel received a game from his friend Murph – and today we wanted to play it. There were some chocolate bars with photos of wild animals on it. Well – a nice game – looking at photos. But it was not that easy. They were turned on the wrong side and you can turn two. If they were the same photos you won the chocolate, if not you turn it again – and search new pairs, when it’s your turn. First I found two different animals. It really was not an easy game. I drove over the table and searched the second buffalo. Where could it be? Finally I found it. When we finished the game I was really good with two pairs – hopefully you are proud of me, Mum! Dicker Kumpel who won the most pairs shared two pieces of chocolate with us. It was yummy, Mum! Love Poschti |

Hello Mum,
Happy Easter! Today it is the Day of the Bunnies! We all sat in the sunshine and waited for RikeH. She arrived and told us that the Easter Bunny has been here – and we could start searching for some sweets! I found some chocolate! Then we went to another part of the garden – here we should have a race for eggs. We all were ready to run or better drive! Look – I had a great fifth place! Later we found this great plant – chocolate lollipops are growing in it! A great place! This was the first part of Easter – tomorrow we will meet the Eater Bunny! Love Poschti |
RikeH Posted Apr 27, 2014, 12:54 pm |
Hello Mum,
Today was an exciting day, too. We went to visit Dicker Kumpel’s grandma. Many bunnies were living there. I would love to send you these beautiful flowers! And I met these hens – I think they worked hard for Easter. Maybe these were the children of the hens? Then I met the Easter Bunny. This was so great – it was very nice and friendly. When we came back to Dicker Kumpel’s home we went into the garden and saw two beautiful trees. And I really like this yellow plant! Yours Poschti |
RikeH Posted Apr 28, 2014, 6:36 pm |
Hello Mum,
I had a wonderful time here, but now it is time to continue my trip. I had a last drive through the garden. Look at this plant – no more chocolate growing in it – but many more flowers. These blue flowers were nice, too. These flowers just started blooming this week. And I love this tree, do you know it? Then it was time to say goodbye to Dicker Kumpel. The others gave me big hug. Until soon Poschti |

Hello Mommy,
finally the page is working! I had so much fun. I'm sorry, I can't write every single update, but here are the most important facts... I did a one day trip to Erfurt in Thuringia. We visited the famous EGA-park. There were many beautiful plans, even big cacti! And a Chinese park. And we also did a one day trip to Torgau in Saxony. Ok, it was just a few hours, but it was nice. I also walked around the area where I stayed. They have many nice buildings, like a big church or the house of Paul Gerhardt. Look we walked through a labyrinth! There is also a water castle near by! Mommy, I took part at the Motoboat Champions Chips! Damn I didn't win. Most of the time we traveled to the Harz mountain for some hiking. We always had wonderful views over the mountains and their lakes! And of course we celebrated the Oktoberfest and New Year's Eve! We had so much delicious stuff and ooops, some alcohol too. Your's Poschti |
MA_17 Posted Feb 5, 2015, 7:51 pm |
Hey Mommy,
today we watched the Super Bowl on tv. Of course we got some fan stuff to cheer! Squab told us we have to cheer for the Seattle Seahawks, but unfortunately they lost. After the game it was already early in the morning so we fall asleep at our seats. No time to go to bed! I need a day to recover from that night, then I'm on my way back home! Love you Poschti |

It took me some time to explore the new place. We even have a chandelier All of the paintings on the walls are self made by grandma. She is a very talented artist. Look at this! I found a treasure chest . Ohhhhhh.... The new home even has a balcony.... But wait a minute! Who is this? Mom says she moved in with them. ;-) Aren't they cute? And this my new home. Next week I will already travel on and spend some time with Ipue. |

dearest mom,
today ipue-hostmom had an elder couple to show them around in her 2nd hometown!! and we took a taxi to be comfortable!! so I had a great day, too, coz tabriz is quite new for me... first we went to one of the oldest points on the ancient tabriz map, to see the 1.000 years old sabolamr mosque!! nowadays used as the museum of holy qor'an. and from there we went to the constitution house from qajar era, where ppl around the ancient heroes sattarkhan & bagherkhan were planning a revolution around 1905... in the yard they both have a huge sculpture!!! - at gonga bashi there is a monument of the ancient gonga, an early tram with horses which was going in the olden times straight to the railway-station! and it was the grandfather of ipue's hubby who was involved in the construction of the gonga!!!!! believe it!!! later we had a walk in the pedestrian zone tarbiat st. there are nice sculptures of ancient professions, here you can see the hairdresser!! then we had a break in hamame nobar, an ancient public bath which is used nowadays as a coffee house and restaurant! and nearby there is the former mansour crossroad, completely changed because of the metro station to be.. and so they made in front of the silkroad-tower a beautimul large mosaic like a carpet!!!! the pilgrimage site *seyed hamze* was our next goal!! and also we had a glance at a sangak bakery.. and yummy pastry we bought later at ipue's favorite confectionary, you may see us in the afternoon at home - and instead of a meal we eat all the cake at once!!!!!!!!!!! and believe it, nobody got sick!!! lucky toyvoyagers we are!!!!! |

helloooooooooo, mom and dear friends & followers!!
today we had the idea to continue our sightseeing of downtown tabriz and you may see the *gonga*, the ancient tram with horses, going from gonga-bashi straight to the railway-station!! (built by the sculptor mr. ahad hosseini) from there we went to the about 700 years old citadel *ARK*. the pilgrimage site *seyed hamze* was our next goal!! and also we had a glance at a sangak bakery to see how they are making this tasty bread!! from there we went to the potters house!!!!!!!! a favorite place of ipue!!! it's an old mansion from the qajar era with a nice yard with a bassin in the middle! it's a life museum, and there are a pottery workshop with many potter's wheels and a traditional kiln and other classrooms! and upstairs there is a permanent exhibition of work pieces of tabriz potters!! we love the salon with it's beautiful windows with coloured glass!! and we were so excited so see there a workpiece from ipuenktchen, too, and we made all our efforts to see as much as possible!! and a yummy pastry we bought at ipue's favorite confectionary; you may see us in the afternoon at home - and instead of a late lunch we ate all the cake at once!!!!!!!!!!! and believe it, nobody got sick!!! lucky toyvoyagers we are!!!!! most of these pics by dear KROETE (c) |

Hello,
today ask me host-mum if I would like to bake with her! Sure! Then she gave me a hammer. Well… Why we need a hammer??? Host-mum said we made a cake without the oven and I should trust her. First sponge cake put in a bag. And then… Beat it! It’s a lot of fun!!! We beat it until only crumb. Then we melt butter… … and give it to the crumb. Enter it into a mold and place it in the refrigerator for a few hours. Whip cream. Then mix cream chesse with raspberry jam and the cream. Some sprinkles. Back in the refrigerator for one hour. Yummi! |

Hi! It’s so hot in Germany! My host had a great idea. We go to an outdoor pool! By the way… It’s 8 o’clock in the morning! So, here we are in Bad Kissingen. Behind me is Bad Kissingen and the area is named „Saaletal“ (Saale is the name of a very little river in Bad Kissingen). It’s so refreshing! Should I spring from the 10 meters dive tower? Haha! See you the people? It’s like in an aquarium! Yummi! We stay for 3 hours. It was wonderful! Bye, Poschti |

It was a wonderful day in Frankfurt! Greetings, Posti |

dear mom,
while we are in KIEL beside the baltic sea I had the great opportunity to participate another postcrossing meetup in the beautiful medivial town of LUEBECK!!!! it's very large holstentor is registered as a world heritage site!!! we had a walk around before entering the nice meeting point kaffeewerk!! when we passed the bridge in front of the salt storehouses ipue was so afraid because of my accident recently in uelzen, that she only agree to take a pic if we don't come out from our totebag.. coz it was again a stormy weather....... our last sightseeing point has been the fuechtingshof, such a beautiful ancient yard, as there are some in luebeck! a special highlight for ipue proposed dear kroete finally, so we went to the great shop owned by two elder sisters, who are selling toys and toys and toys, no new ones, no, only ancient toys, and so it was a paradise for a playmo-collector!!! you can buy there even an only hat or a cravatte or smth like that for the playmos!!!!! very hardly ipue was accepting to come out again...... they had been only 5 postcrossers but it was so funny and great to be with members of the NKM.. |

Hey friends,
yesterday mom took me out to not one but even too flea markets. She loves strolling around those markets on weekends cause you can find pretty unique things there. Like postcards for her postcrossing hobby, decorations for the house (especially Christmas decoration), clothes and all kinds of other stuff. She got great deals on something. What it is, you can see in the Last photo. |

Hello dear friends,
last Friday mom took me and my toyvoyager siblings on a vacation. We took a train than another train and a bus and finally reach our destination in the late afternoon . After we arrived at explored the small village we re-write are staying at. |
Susie's Posted Oct 7, 2016, 1:08 pm |
On day two of our vacation, mum took me up the mountain Hochgrat.
We got there by some kind of mountain-cabin-cable railway. We had a great view from up there and a wonderful time. Until someone decided it's a good idea to hike down that darn "hill". |
Susie's Posted Oct 11, 2016, 2:31 pm |
On Tuesday Mom took me to some kind of Museum which showed how German Famers lived and Worked in the past.
It had in- and outdoor parts and even a big barn where I could play in the hay. |
Susie's Posted Oct 24, 2016, 3:58 pm |
The next day mom went to see a famous sight. It’s one of the most ones in Germany.
If not THE most one. That’s why she decided to take all 3 of us there. The Neuschwanstein Castle. You have to walk up a very steep hill to get there. Once up there we walked around the castle as much as possible and enjoyed the views all around. PS Please excuse, but the photos are not in the correct order. |

Hello Mum,
today I took a look at the hometown of Murph. Bad Salzdetfurth is an old miningtown. And you find memories of this time everywhere. There were many old timbered houses. The golden ball in front of the “Kurmittelhaus” is the sun. All over the town you find planets in the right distance and in the right dimension. There are 2 big salines in the spa gardens. The people used it to produce salt in the past. This is the famous place of Murph. It is called Summstein – you sit inside of it and bumble. Then the whole body prickles. Very funny! The last place is the train station of Bad Salzdetfurth. I have no idea why it is called Kulturbahnhof. Yours Poschti |

Hello Mum,
today we visited the Park of the Abbey Lamspringe. The Lamme starts here. This sculpture is so funny. This is the church of the abbey. Really big! Criminals got this ring around their neck in the past – and were in the pillory. In this mill they produced mill for the abbey many years ago. We found a great playground and had a lot of fun. What a wonderful park! Many greetings Poschti |

Hello Mum,
Today I went to a beautiful park. On our way to the park we found this gate. I loved the color. ... and this fountain. Behind me you can see the castle. There is a small pavilion in the park. These old tomb slabs were impressive. A beautiful lake belongs to the park, too. Let’s see, what more we can find here. The Castle at close range. These old bonnets look funny, don’t they? Wow, what a beautiful park! Yours Poschti |

Hello Mum,
today is Nikolaus Day : the humans put their cleaned shoes in front of the door the night before – and on the 6th of December the Nikolaus came and put sweets into the shoes – if the humas were well-behaved. Unfortunately I don't have shoes – but we searched big ones from HoBi. These shoes are too small. But this was great ! This boot was big enough. Bad luck for us – the boot was dirty. And the Nikolaus only fills clean boots with sweets. So we searched something to clean it. And we cleaned the boot. It looked great... Ready – now we put the boot in front of the door. This was exciting – we sat behind the door and wanted to surprise the Nikolaus. We waited all night long – this was my time to hear what happens! Well – I heart something! It worked – the whole boot is full! But what now? How can we get the sweets? We are so small – and the boot is so big! We pushed togehter – maybe he will fall? We made it – and so many sweets for us! We must have been very nice over the year. Happy Nikolaus Poschti |

We were on holidays for some days. We visited Kaufungen. But more important: It was Christmas. Time for gifts! Murph had a big present for me. What will be in there? I have to look at it! Wonderful! It looked great! Will this chocolate be yummy? Murph called us. A present from Dicker Kumpel to him. What was this? We thought about it! We needed batteries. But we didn’t have batteries. Fortunately HoBi had some for us. What a wonderful gift! Yours Poschti |

It rained all day long. Nevertheless we took a trip. This was the town hall of Treffurt. We liked this house with the funny trees. You see the castle of Treffurt there. We want to go there. On our way we had this great view over the town. The Castle looked beautiful. We were very wet. But we dried in front of the fireplace. It was so cozy! Until soon Poschti |

Hello Mum,
The weather was better today. We went to the town, where Mother Hulda lives. We took a walk. We had to pass this gate. Mother Hulda shook the pillows. I held on. A beautiful old tower. Will Mother Hulda lives here? We got this great photo on our way. Normally these birds are very shy. This goddess is called Freya…she didn’t look like the small Toyvoyager Freya. Through this backyard… … we came to this famous house. This is the museum of Mother Hulda. We learnt, where Mother Hulda lives. Her Castle is in this lake. Mother Hulda looked like this. Unfortunately she didn’t told us, where the entrance was. Yours Poschti |

Hello Mum,
Today we went to Witzenhausen. A beautiful tower… … and the town hall. To be honest – it wasn’t really great here. Witzenhausen is famous for the cultivation of cherries. These were the only cherries that we found. We liked this castle more. And this was so funny! We wanted to have a photo. There was a hotel near to the castle. All rooms are tree houses. But what was this? Maybe an UFO? Will Murph leave? Greetings Poschti |

today we visited Hann.Münden. There was a wonderful town hall. This was the “Weserstein”. Here was the place where the Rivers Werra and Fulda meet to form the River Weser. A wonderful bridge over the Fulda. Hann.Münden has a lot of beautiful half-timbered houses. I absolutely wanted to have a photo with this funny guy. Hann. Münden is really a beautiful town. Hello Mum,
The weather forecast promised 20 cm of snow. We wanted to see it. Hmmm, 20 cm? Nevertheless we took a long walk. This river is called "Innerste" This tree was very impressive. There were many mistletoes hanging on it. We found a small water fall… … and a lake without water... But there was almost no snow! On the way home we found a good friend. He guarded Murph’s home. The weather was so beautiful. We drove to Murph’s famous lake. Let’s go… It looked really great. Hopefully we will get a hot punch there. Even the river was nearly frozen. Unfortunately we didn’t get hot punch... … and we were not able to do a boat trip. It was beautiful. This is Murph’s famous beach. During the summertime you can see him often with his beach chair here. Wow, so much ice! What a wonderful walk! Poschti |

On the way back we found something amazing. I have to show it, although we didn’t get so many photos. But look! It was so exciting! A tree, where water flows out of the Top. I learned on this sign, how it works. The water with the ice looked so beautiful! What an experience! Greetings Poschti |

Hello Mum,
we took a trip to the Harz Mountains. The large water dam was very full. We walked to this river. We walked all the way on the masonry damn. Where did all this rubbish come from in the water? This was the masonry damn from down below. They dump water out of this opening, when the water damn is full. The water flows through the "Innerste" then. The river flows near to Murph's home. We already showed it. It was a great trip! Yours Poschti |

today we went to a holy spring. Many people take water from it. It should help against sicknesses. This was the main spring. Here you see 2 other springs – coming directly out of the hill. There was a small altar next to the spring. People sacrifices things here, and hope that the spring never stops. The water from the spring feed this pond. The water was so bright! Then we went into the forest to search the spring. The Coltsfoot and the Spring Snowflakes have blossomed The bear's garlic and the orchids were still very small. Hopefully it will be warmer soon, because we want to search mushrooms. Until soon Poschti |

Hello Mum,
today we went to an abbey. This hotel will definitely look great in the summer. They dried grain in the tower in the Past. Wow, this was really large. Almost as large as the Gate. Many people marry in the church of the abbey. We were lucky, because there was no one in the church. We found these plants in the garden. What will it be? These deer belonged to the abbey. But the abbey it famous for its schnapps. Greetings Poschti |

Hello Mum,
We wanted to see, if the spring arrived in the forest. The Daphne mezereum already bloomed. Great colour – wasn’t it? The orchids were still very small. There were trees cut down everywhere in the forest. Hopefully nevertheless the Morels will come back What a beautiful flower! I loved this mushroom! It was gorgeous. The Wood Anemone already blossomed a bit. There will be many more soon. The Bear's Garlic was still very small. You have to be very careful when you collect Bear’s Garlic. On the photo you see it together with Wild Arum. Wild Arum is very poisonous. Be careful out there! Yours Poschti |

The weather was wonderful! Let’s see what we spot today. This Hairy Black Cup was here. And this mushroom is very famous. Ötzi put it around his neck. What a beautiful place. Many people eat this mushroom (we don’t know its English name) We found flowers, too. Normally Brain Mushrooms live here. But we didn’t find any. It wasn’t a miracle. This machine drove over the mushrooms. We hate this monster! Until soon Poschti |

today we searched St. Georg’s mushrooms. But look, what we found – morels. And so many orchids… Then a white one… The morels played hide and seek with us. There was another Morel. Can you see it? But now… Playing hide and seek was so much fun. We won and found all morels. At the end we found St. Georg’s mushrooms. They smelled floury. It was a wonderful day in the forest. Until soon Poschti |

Hello Mum,
today we took a trip in the Harz Mountains. We wanted to see a beautiful nature reserve. We had to follow this sign. Let's go. Wow, what a view! We learnt a lot. Everyone needed a rest. The view over "Wolfshagen" was very impressive. They burn witches on the 30th of April in the Harz. It is called Walpurgisnacht. One witch forgot something. We were disappointed at the end of our walk, because we wanted to see more of this beautiful quarry. Unfortunately it was not possible. Nevertheless it was a nice day. Yours Poschti |

Hello Mum,
another day in the forest. Everything was green! Surely we found mushrooms. Finally no morels. A Cup, that only grows in the spring. Another Cup… The orchids were beautiful. And then this! They were everywhere this year. We found more great orchids. I love these flowers. In the end I have this great photo for you. He sat quiet on the perch for a long time. Love Poschti |

Hello Mum,
today I visited a beautiful nature reserve. Didn’t it look great? There were many different wild orchids. I show you the most beautiful flowers. There were orchids with green blossoms. Wow – this one was big! We had to walk careful. These beautiful animals were everywhere on the ways. Let’s see, what else we can discover. All over the meadow there were snowdrop windflowers. This flower is really rare in Lower-Saxony. You only find it in a few nature reserves. Do you know it? It is the lady’s slipper orchid. So many wonderful orchids! I love this place. Greetings Poschti |

Hello Mum,
today we were on the airport in Hildesheim. We wanted to see great cars and car races. Big cars from the USA were everywhere. We had a closer look. It was hard to decide which car we wanted more. This… …or maybe this one? The motorbike was really big! And expensive. It is called "BossHoss". Then we saw a race. This was the start. The cars were too fast – it was difficult to get nice photos. We inspected the race cars. What an engine! I really liked this car. And at the end a photo of my favorite car. I want to have it. Do you buy it for me? What a day! Poschti |

Hello Mum,
We were on holiday for some days. On the first day we visited the castle of Blankenburg. We went to the big castle through the beautiful garden. We had a nice view over Blankenburg on our way to the castle. The big castle is very old. It needs a lot of renovation. Love Poschti |

Hello Mum,
we wanted to admire a lake. It should be blue! Unfortunately it wasn't blue, but nevertheless very beautiful. The lake was green. Unfortunately many people and dogs swim in the lake. Therefore algae grow in the sea and give it the green water. What a pity. Then we went to a famous wall – the "Teufelsmauer". It looked beautiful. Until soon Poschti |

Ostfriesland is such a beautiful region. Here are some impressions. We saw the most inclined tower of the world and a small lighthouse – that is very famous – at least in Germany. Until soon Poschti |

Hello Mum,
many people like Aurich. But to tell the truth – I didn’t like the town so much. We decided to take a boat trip. We drove through small channels. Many bridges were opened for us. Love Poschti |

Hello Mum,
we started in a park – and learnt a lot about potable water. Then we drove to a forest. There were an abbey in the past. Now people try to make the abbey visible with the help of plants. This looked great! Bye Poschti |
