My name is Lumpy and I'm a cute little blue dinosaur. I finally recieved my toyvoyager tag and am ready to go travel the world! Over the last month I've been watching my owner spend lots of time on this forum called PaFo so I hope to visit many PaFoers. I hope to find the kind ones, and hopefully I won't get caught with any trolls along the way! I hope I can see lots of the US! Jayme says the first person I'm off to visit is savagefamily and that she is very sweet. San Francisco here I come!

Lumpy got delivered to me August 5th. Here's the bed my son helped make him, so he'll be comfortable with us on his visit.
This weekend we will tour San Francisco together, and then Lumpy's in for a big surprise. He's coming on vacation with us too, so he's in the adventure of a lifetime through Northern California & Reno before heading to our friend barbieq in Texas. Check back over the next 2 weeks for updates!!! |

Everyone else is asleep, and I'm a tiny bit homesick, so I thought I'd peek at the picture from home. It's made me feel a lot better. I can't wait to get out there and explore!

I had a great day today riding around San Francisco. Our first stop was to see a Cable Car. He had to wait a few minutes but it was worth the wait.
Then we took a drive to the Civic Center Area. There was this really cool Memorial in Memory of James Lick Then I saw this guy with a baby lion biting his arm. I had to get a closer look. It says his name is Ashurbanipal City Hall was nearby, the sun was right in my eyes so I could not see it very well. So, why not drive a little closer.. On the way out of this area we saw the Asian Art Museum I figured it was time to go back home. Who would have known there were so many places to pass on the way! Just a few blocks from City Hall was this fine Government subsidized housing community And then just a few more blocks away are the famous Painted Ladies Finaly the family I'm staying with got hungry, so we stopped at a Mexican restaurant. I was a little scared of the decor I was in no mood to eat Mexican after that, so we stopped for my favorite snack too -Lumpy lovin' SF |
savagefamily Posted Aug 11, 2008, 5:07 am |
Off we went on another San Francisco adventure today! It's my last night in the city before we hit the road.
Here's the Arguello Blvd gates to Golden Gate Park. They close the park down to cars on weekends, so all the humans can rollerblade and skateboard and ride bikes. We went to the Golden Gate Bridge, and I got to pose with a statue of the creator of the bridge, Joseph Strauss. This is a piece of the bridge I got to sit on! It's huge, and made up of smaller cables inside. I listened to some oldies on the jukebox at Johnny Rockets. A-1 is the best song Those pigeons reallly hit the spot list time I was out. But I figured I'd branch out & try something different this time I'll update on the road when there is internet service. - Lumpy "California Roll" Dinosaur |
savagefamily Posted Aug 12, 2008, 7:50 am |
We're on the road now! After driving a while, we got out to 104 degree temperatures! Here we are at a rest stop, where I met a praying mantis buddy!~
Next rest stop was at Rolling Hills Indian Casino. I'm a little too young to gamble so I just looked in from the cafe. In the lobby an eagle tried to steal me, I barely escaped! After almost 7 hours we got to our destination, Weaverville, CA! Now I have become one with a tree stump Hung out by the pool And played around in a wishing well And it's only the first day here! I love being on vacation, on vacation. There' fires nearby so there is a lot of smoke in the air. here's the sunset through the haze. Goodnight! |
savagefamily Posted Aug 14, 2008, 6:19 am |
This is my last night in Weaverville. I have been so busy I didn't have time to be in every picture, but I traveled to a lot of cool places so I'll post a few of those too.
Today we went to Canyon Creek in Junction City, CA and I got to play on the rocks. I don't like getting wet. We even saw a mama & baby deer on the way back! I like seeing other animals And here I am in Downtown Weaverville at sunset. Yesterday we had some fun adventures too. We went to Lake Lewiston, the humans did something called fishing there and forgot me in the car! They said I could post still post this picture of the Lake And we ran into these awesome bears, they're my new friends And the best part of the day was climbing a tree and just enjoying the sun Before bed we all played Skip-Bo and I won!! I'm told next I'll be going to Fort Bragg CA, and I'll get to see the Pacific Ocean up close. That is one of my life goals, so I am very excited about this trip!! - Small Town Lumpy |
savagefamily Posted Aug 15, 2008, 5:38 am |
Today I drove down the California Coast. Our first stop was for lunch in a little town called Willow Creek where I had an awesome burger fries & smoothie. That was still in Trinity County near where I stayed the last few days.
After a LOT more driving we got to downtown Eureka on the coast. It was a lot colder here than in Weaverville. Now we we're in Humbolt County. Then we stopped at this place called "The Legend of Bigfoot" in Garberville. I got to meet another nice bear, he was very welcoming. I saw an eagle with a snake in it's mouth! And I wore a real coon skin cap! After 7 hours we reached our goal, Fort Bragg, in Mendocino County, CA. It's really foggy here! I was told I can see the ocean from my balcony, but all I see is fog! Time to go over the hill & look for the Ocean, one of my life missions is to see the Pacific & Atlantic. And look, there's the Pacific Ocean!!!! I'll check in again soon. -Beachcomber Lumpy |
savagefamily Posted Aug 17, 2008, 8:19 am |
Today I am still in Fort Bragg. And the sun is out so I can soak up the ocean views
We took a day trip to see some Redwoods. It was a long trip, good thing I brought my coffee We went to a place called Mendocino Redwood Grove. They had a huge old growth redwood I visited. It was so big I could not even get the whole tree in 2 pictures! Here's a smaller tree. It was still huge. Look at this, and old piece of equipment used for logging I found a better use, it's fun to climb! And I found these little pinecones, they're just my size! And look, I got to accomplish one of my life goals today, to play in the dirt!!! Having a great time, Rusty & Dusty Lumpy |
savagefamily Posted Aug 17, 2008, 8:39 am |
Today I went to a local Fort Bragg Beach, Glass Beach. It used to be a garbage dump years ago. They cleaned up most of it, but there's still tiny pieces of glass all over. It's been polished by the waves and is now mixed in with the sand.
There were rocks, cliffs & caves everywhere Then we went to Otis R. Johnson Wildlife Park. I got to sit on a giant tree stump And a little creek And later on I found a bunch of my friends! I tried my best to rescue them but I ran out of quarters Tomorrow I head to Reno. I don't know when I can update again due to internet connection. After that I'll be mailed off to Texas, I can't wait! -On the road again Lumpy |
savagefamily Posted Aug 20, 2008, 5:09 am |
Back on the road again to Reno today. One of the first towns we hit was Willits, CA
And them we stopped for lunch in Clearlake, CA. There were a lot of fun games and rides. First I rode a mechanical horse Then I played a driving game I met this weird guy, I think he was a cowboy? He had a big gun! I saw some more of my friends trapped in another one of those claw machines Look, I won an elephant buddy! I feel a lot better now. Look, it's Clearlake. How beautiful. I met another Praying Mantis at a gas station And there was a GIANT tire covered with snow chains. I can fit inside them! We're almost to Reno now!!!!! Aah, my first night in Nevada. Here's the view from my room at Circus Circus Hotel/ Casino. |
savagefamily Posted Aug 20, 2008, 5:29 am |
Aah, my first morning in Reno, much better view in the day.
We drove to Lake Tahoe. On the way there we saw Mount Rose And here I am on Mount Rose And here's our destination, It's called Sand Harbor, on the shore of Lake Tahoe, in Incline Village, NV That night, the humans I'm staying with came back from the midway games, and they brought me a bunch of friends! |
savagefamily Posted Aug 20, 2008, 5:36 am |
It's my last night in Reno, so I walked around downtown a little before going. Here's the Silver Legacy
The biggest little city in the world! The steps of City Hall I got all you can eat chow mein at the Buffet, since it will be a few days before I eat again. And I'll be off in the morning to a new family in Texas. I can't wait to meet them! I hope everyone has liked my pictures so far. I love you pafoers! I can't wait to meet as many of you as possible. |
savagefamily Posted Aug 20, 2008, 12:23 pm |
Well, Lumpy is off to his next family. We had a great time hosting him on our trip and are happy to have shown him so many great places around the west coast the past 2 weeks.
He got to complete one of his goals, to play in the dirt, and is well on his way to completing his goal to see the pacific & atlantic oceans. He has eaten tons of yummy food, but he's always hungry for more (who would have known such a little guy ate SO much!) And he saw a few lakes. I bet when he gets to the Minnesota pafoers he'll get to fulfill his goal to see many lakes. Anyway, here's a last goodbye to Lumpy before he gets mailed off to Texas. It was great having you little guy!! |
BarbieQ Posted Aug 23, 2008, 4:04 am |
Lumpy arrived today! We are very excited....and one of us is feeling shy. Lumpy is going to sleep with K tonight and he seems to be very relieved to be out of his paper envelope. He had so much fun with his previous host family! We are going to show him some good ole' Southern hospitality. |
BarbieQ Posted Aug 24, 2008, 3:27 am |
Today I went swimming at Jack Carter pool with a bunch of fun people. I had a problem though -- it cost $2.00 to get in and I didn't bring any money. The nice folks there let me work the food stand so I could swim. May I take your order? |
BarbieQ Posted Aug 24, 2008, 3:30 am |
Before I get in the pool, I better read the pool rules |
BarbieQ Posted Aug 24, 2008, 3:32 am |
That water looks nice and cool...I need to cool off from this 96 degree heat. |
BarbieQ Posted Aug 24, 2008, 3:36 am |
Swimming has been lots of fun, and has really cooled be off. I see lots of people jumping off the diving board, I want to try that. Let's see what the rules say... |
BarbieQ Posted Aug 24, 2008, 3:39 am |
Wow..that's a lot of rules. Ok, here I go; hope I don't get hurt because it's a long way down...at least there is a life guard just in case. |
BarbieQ Posted Aug 24, 2008, 3:40 am |
OUCH! I hurt myself and the life guard had to save me and put me on the back-board. |
BarbieQ Posted Aug 24, 2008, 3:43 am |
Ok, I feel 100% better now...I think I'll sit out a while and watch the others swim. |
BarbieQ Posted Aug 24, 2008, 3:48 am |
Ooooh Lookie here..some pretty flowers (ok, not the prettiest I've seen). |
BarbieQ Posted Aug 24, 2008, 3:50 am |
I'm hungry now..gonna have some jelly; err preserves. What is this? Preserves with no preservatives? How does THAT work? |
BarbieQ Posted Aug 24, 2008, 3:53 am |
Now I'm thirsty..this Fruit punch looks good. |
BarbieQ Posted Aug 24, 2008, 3:55 am |

Lumpy arrived in Minnesota (the land of 10,000 lakes) about a week ago. He's been very excited to tag along with us! Welcome to Minnesota, Lumpy!! We're so glad you're here.
Since Lumpy's arrival, summer has made it's way out and fall is definitely here! The leaves are changing and there's a definite chill in the air. Lumpy likes to sit outside and check out the foliage. We took a trip to the Minnesota Zoo! Addison was very excited that she got to bring Lumpy along! The honey bear is pretty cool. We're not sure Lumpy had such a good time getting licked. (he does kind of need a bath though) Lumpy liked posing at the zoo. He's kind of a ham. |
lorih307 Posted Oct 30, 2008, 5:57 pm |
Lumpy arrived in Ellwood City, Pennsylvania today from Minnesota! He's checking out his new digs and will have photos ready to post later today or tomorrow. Right now, he's just glad to be out of his mailing envelope and is getting to know his new friends the dog and cats. |
lorih307 Posted Oct 31, 2008, 2:59 am |
Tonight I met a new friend, a nice dog named Soldier. He even let me sit with him on his girl's lap while we watched TV tonight. I also met a cat named Peanut Butter, but she wouldn't sit still for a picture. |
lorih307 Posted Nov 4, 2008, 3:44 pm |
Today is Election Day in the U.S.! It's a very important day, so Lori took me with her to the local polling place, where she voted for local officials and the next President of the United States. I wanted to vote, but they said I couldn't since I wasn't registed and wasn't a citizen.
I had fun watching Lori vote, though! |
lorih307 Posted Nov 9, 2008, 8:54 pm |
Today several college students from West Virginia University took me to Slippery Rock University to a Bouldering Competition. It was fun to watch and Matt, one of the guys from WVU, put me in his chalk bag and let me climb the rock wall with him. Can you see me? |

duckncover Posted Dec 24, 2008, 7:00 am |
We stopped to play and eat at McDonalds in Elk Grove. We met up with another pafo'er while we were there and had a good time. I was flirty with this cute little pony and even shared my fries with her, but alas we are not meant to be because I will be traveling on soon and she will be staying with my host. |

duckncover Posted Jan 11, 2009, 3:08 pm |
Today we visited the Oregon Museum of Science and Industry, or OMSI for short. We had lunch at the OMSI Cafe. We investigated bugs with our magnifying glasses. I met OMSI Fred, who has apparently been there a LONG time. I had a conversation with a real bullfrog. I saw the view of the river from a glass elevator. And I got to play with a lot of kids and see cool exhibits. Check it out at www.omsi.edu. |

I just arrived in a small town called Berea in the state of Kentucky. I am just below the Mason Dixon line. My host family has promised they will start showing me around tomorrow, because it was starting to get dark when they got me out of the mailbox. I met their little girl already though.
|
CuddleBugLV Posted Apr 23, 2009, 3:41 am |
We will miss lumpy. One last picture of him getting ready to go(The most awesome drop box outside our apartment) |
NikkiW Posted Apr 24, 2009, 10:34 pm |
Hello! As promised my host family started my tour of their area! I couldn't believe all the flowers! I must have picked the right time of year to visit the Appalachain region. We took a LOT of pictures today!
When I got there I read the sign posted about the college. The town was founded around the college and it was one of the first integrated colleges in the south. Next we went around checking out all of the lovely blooming trees. Berea is a nationally recognized tree city so there were lots of those. The lovely flower beds We even found sculptures of flowers! And lots of other neat art around town. Woo I am riding a metal bull! Watching the faeries dance And sitting on a giant spider carved from a tree trunk! I also liked these neat hands that are all around town. The Appalachain mountains are famous for their quilters, so I stopped to look at some of those too. Whooo! What a day! I am tired. We are going to see the historic Old Town in the next few days, then some of the horses KY is famous for, and hopefully the foothills of the Appalachians. It sounds fun! I will keep you updated! |
NikkiW Posted Apr 30, 2009, 2:34 am |
Hey all! I went a little south of Berea today to where my host mom grew up. It was a beautiful place, but it rained most of the day and we didn't get to go see the mountain or the creek. Next time! I did get to see some horses though. Sorry, the sun was setting while we were taking pictures. I met this big fellow today though. We regarded each other for quite a while before he turned around and swished his tail at me and trotted away.
I also got to see a lovely sunset! My host said we would try to get back there this weekend to take in the country side a little better though. |
NikkiW Posted May 19, 2009, 4:10 am |
Wow, I had the most fun day! We went back to the country and I got to go exploring at the creek that runs through my host familie's grandma's property, see their garden, meet a cow, a crawdad, and a bullfrog!
First was the creek. The water was really cold but it's lovely there! I tried my balancing act on a tree that had fallen.... Then I just decided to hang out on a branch for a bit and look at all the little creatures swimming by. We were wading back to the bank when we saw a bullfrog! My host Nikki caught the slippery guy, he was huge! But when we posed for our pic, he slipped away!!!! We looked for a long time but couldn't find him again, however, we did manage to find this little guy. I was just trying to make friends, but he attacked me!!!! Creeks can be dangerous to little blue dinosaurs! On the way back we stopped to look at the garden where they grow corn, beans, potatoes, tomatoes, and a ton of other stuff. It's all just starting to peek above the ground (sorry we could only fit a little bit in the picture) and the little boy in my host family held me up so I could be a camera hog in the shot like I always am! They even let me drive the tractor! We also found this lovely stand of blackberries that will be full of juicy berries by end of summer (too bad I have to leave before I can have some cobbler!), and these pretty daisies growing wild. I stopped by Nikki's brother's room to see the turkey eggs he is trying to hatch... Then on the way home I met Ms. Cow. Try as I might she wouldn't talk to me, just wanted to keep munching the grass. I have one more stop to make and I will be on my way to a new family. This has been so fun though! I love it out in the boondocks! |
NikkiW Posted Jun 2, 2009, 12:14 am |
Well today was my last day seeing the sites in Kentucky. I have had a lot of fun. We finally got great weather (it sure was hot though!!!!) and went to see Old Town Berea, which is basically the other half of the crafts district and where a lot of the artisans Berea is famous for practice their trades and sell their work.
We started at the old train station, which is now the welcome and tourism center. Lily, my host's daughter, was my tour guide today. We stepped out back to see the rail road tracks. (sorry this one is dark, if you haven't noticed, host mom isn't the best photographer in the world) Next we ran into more of those hands that seem to be everywhere here! In the square next to the welcome center is an Appalachain cabin that was moved from it's home nearby and put in town as an example of the way the mountain people lived, and some still live today, though it isn't common anymore. And the smokehouse This craft store and gallery is built to look exactly like the barns common around the farms here... Next we went over to the Weaver's Bottom where the resident artisan has been creating and working for more than 20 years. I loved the paint job! Next on to the historic jail, more than a hundred years old. It is now an antique shop, but the original iron bars are on the windows and the iron gate is still on the door. We stopped off for a quick play break at the city playground... Then I helped drive home. I wasn't so good at steering, So I sat on Nikki's shoulder and navigated instead... I really have enjoyed my stay here, and my last post will be getting in the box in the morning and heading off for a new adventure! |
NikkiW Posted Jun 3, 2009, 1:13 am |
Today was bittersweet. Nikki bought me a brand new envelope with lots of nice padding and I had to tell my host family and KY goodbye today, but I am looking forward to my new adventures!
Here I am preparing to go to sleep and ride through the mail system once again. |

One day while we were walking around we found an archeological site in an underground parking lot!! I guess they were digging the lot and came across the walls of an old fort so they designated part of the parking lot as an archeological site. They can't get to the rest of it because there are buildings on top of it.

Today we are in Dubrovnik Croatia. From here you can see the old walled city of Dubrovnik on the Adriatic Sea.

Now we are on the inside of the old city walls.

Littleminn40 Posted Jul 15, 2009, 5:50 am |
Did you know the necktie was first worn in Croatia?

Today we are in Turkey!!! We visted a carpet co-op. There are many nomadic tribes in Turkey. This co-op teaches women the fine art of rug making. They taught and given supply to make the rugs. They sell there work to the co-op and the co-op helps them to open bank accounts so their village fathers don't steal their money. They want to teach women that they have other options for taking care of themselves so they don't have to feel ruled by their fathers. Very cool.

We visited what is to be the home of the Virgin Mary. (St.) John brought her to Turkey after the death of Jesus. This site is as important to the Muslims as it is the Christians. Did you know that Muslims believe in the Virgin Birth? We drank water from the spring which was to have healing powers. I don't know if it worked but Littleminn didn't suffer one hangover on the cruise.
I went to a Mosque too but Littleminn didn't think it was appropriate to take my picture inside. |
Littleminn40 Posted Jul 15, 2009, 6:01 am |
This is the ancient city of Ephesus. It was the coolest location of the whole trip.

I went to one of the museums and saw many old military vehicles and air crafts.
We stopped at a couple of veteran memorials..... The heat was so intense we took a dip in the pool. I also spent some time with a few Army families. Made a bunch of new friends. I couldn't leave TX without seeing a few animals along the way. And with that I'm off to my next destination. |

When I got lumpy back in summer of 2008, I got tons of pictures with him, and tried to put together the best for his travelog. Since things have been slow lately, I thought I'd post some scenes of Lumpy that didn't make the first cut. Hope you enjoy them!

Oh we are so excited to have lumpy with us.
We just had a fun Easter weekend and lumpy. We drove to Copperopolis California to visit family. We hunted eggs, went to a street fair where we drew eggs with chalk and met TWO Easter bunnies. |
