Sylphide, in my envelope, Germany - Florida

Hello !! Youhou !!
I'm Sylphide, a young elf !! I'm new to the site and very impatient to travel ! Let me tell you how I discovered how to become a ToyVoyager...
Some weeks ago, I was in the "Jardin des plantes" in Toulouse, a beautiful garden, where I like to spend my time... I was playing leapfrog with Philéas and Monsieur Kicks, 2 friends of mine, when suddenly a kind of blue moose approached us and entered into conversation with us. He told us he was not a moose, but a "bramaboula", whose name was Sébastien. He was looking for his likes, but didn't know how and where to find them. According to Philéas who knows much about animals specimens, he had no chance to find some of them here in France. Then, Philéas told us there was a website, ToyVoyagers.com, where humans are hosting toys in different countries. He thought it could be a good way for Sébastien to travel without having to seek for food or sleeping, and that he will maybe meet others "bramaboula" during his trips abroad...
We talked a lot, seated in one of the Jardin des Plantes little train carriage.
It gave me an idea : why couldn't I travel around the world too ? It's now a long time since I've been living here in Toulouse, and I would like to meet others fantastic creatures as me !! So I went to the CyberCafé, I registered myself on the site and here I am !
Here, you can see Sébastien, Philéas, Monsieur Kicks and me in the train carriage.

After Sébastien left us, I released a book on the carriage seat. It was a children's book about gnomes. I like to scatter books here and there ! It is called Bookcrossing and it's very funny and friendly ! On 23rd June, there is a big meeting in Nice (you know, on the French Riviera !) that many French Bookcrossers will attend... and guess what ??? I'll be there too !!! KanaPoutz who lives there kindly offered to host me !! When you'll read this, I will probably be on my way to Nice !

I hope there will be some games in Nice... I can not spend a day without playing !! I'm fond of toboggans and child's swings !! My dream is to visit amusement parks, to go on carousels, ghost trains, roller coasters and much more !
Mistigree

Posted Jun 18, 2007, 10:33 pm
I like gardens, statues and fountains... This one is in the Jardin des Plantes, it seems to represent 4 nymphs... I wish I had a fountain with my effigy too !! Is there a sculptor among the ToyVoyagers hosts ready to create one ?? ... Well... I'm not sure I'll be patient enough to pose during hours (or maybe Alpina could teach me as she's a famous model !)
Mistigree

Posted Jun 18, 2007, 10:46 pm
I like flowers... they smell so sweet !!! Sometimes I discreetly enter into people's garden at night, just to admire their flowers... I wish I could meet the Queen of the Bees so that she teaches me how to gather pollen and make honey !

Sometimes, when the weather is too bad or when it rains, I find shelter in Botanic or Jardiland. These are shops where humans can buy flowers, seeds, green plants, trees... I've got some friends working there and I like to visit them... They were so happy for me when I told us about my aim to become a ToyVoyager !

Hello! Finally I get some time to tell you all about my first stop!
I arrived in Nice in this really small box, thankfully I had a book to read to pass the time! Mistigree sent some sweets for KanaPoutz, and I really had to control myself not to eat them, and I didn't!

It was nice to stretch my legs and my wings after the trip.

I arrived in Nice just in time for the MBC (MegaBookCrossing), a gathering of bookcrosser from all around France, and even a couple from Germany!
I was really excited to get to meet so many people, and to get to attend this big release event!
KanaPoutz had 14 books of her own to release, and she also received some from Spain and Italy, so there was quite a pile!

There was this book in Italian I started reading (yes, I can read Italian!), it looked interesting.

There we are! The big day!
In the morning when it was still quiet, I got to meet Pookie! He's BCer EnigmaGryphon's friend, and also the mascot in Nice!
We swapped lots of BC stories. I was really glad to meet him, and already sad that we would only spend 1 day together, but that's what being a voyager means! Pookie was moving to Brittany a few days after the MBC, maybe I'll get the chance to visit him there?

After a walk around the old town and meeting everyone in various places, we went to have our lunch. It was a very nice restaurant in a small street, it's called Lou Fran Calin and serves typical food from Nice!
Look at the plate of starters!
http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1134/651206397_0ef7fcc7b9.jpg?v=0
And those things that look like chips : they're not! They're made with chickpea flour, like the traditionnal Socca.
It was all delicious.
This is a photo with me and a plate of Socca, that was the day after the MBC :

After lunch we had an other walk around the old town, and then we made our way to the castle hill, where we were going to release all our books!
Here I am in front of the artificial waterfalls, it was very refreshing on this hot day!

Not everyone had arrived yet when we took this photo :

This is CurlyClochette, she lives in Nice and is a good friend of kana's.

It was a bit cold because of the wind, but we were all happy to be together!

So we went to the beach, and I kind of fell asleep while the others were in the sea...

Hi here I am again, ready to tell you more about the things I've been doing!
On the 30th June, I went on a trip with Kana and some friends of hers! We went to the Euro Jeep Camp : it's a European gathering of Jeep owners, for 3 days. This year it was taking place in the Ardèche.
So off we went, travelling with this big Jeep! This is taken on the motorway (it took us 4 hours to get there)
http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1026/753150253_be8577a271_m.jpg

Then as we were getting closer, we were on smaller roads, and there were lots of sunflower fields! I just love flowers and these are really wonderful!

During the week-end, we went on several trips with the car, going through the forest or the hills. Lots of Jeep cars!

Kana and here friends did some kayak down the Ardèche river for a short time, but I didn't go with them, I'm not that fond of water...
The scenery was amazing, here is the Pont de l'Arc, a very famous landmark
http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1189/754023526_de1b6c000e.jpg?v=0

We saw a few signs in the area advertising honey sales, but unfortunately we did not have time to stop, si I could not check it out to find out more about honey making and all that...

I arrived in Switzerland on Wednesday. The next morning, I was soooo tired that I wasn't able to wake up, the bed was very confortable.

In ther afternoon, we visited the old part of Fribourg. First of all, we went on the top of the tower of the Cathedral St-Nicolas... 368 steps, 80m. Pfiouh

The tower is so high that we can see all Fribourg. The old part where a Mega Bookcrossing took place 5 days go, the modern which is quite awful and where Swiss_sunshine lives.

Posted Sep 10, 2007, 9:22 pm
After that, we had to walk home... Fribourg is a town full of stairs. Hum hum. I was so tired that we took a break on a nice place called "The fish market" altough there's no sea in Fribourg, just a little river.
Fribourg is a billingual city French / German that's why most of the streets names are in both languages. Nice, isnt'it?
During the break, I ate a little of chocolate because in Switzerland, they made the best chocolate of the world :p

I went to the biggest amusement park of Germany: "Europa Park". There's no amusement park in Switzerland, that's why we drove until Rust (2h30 from Fribourg.)
There were a lot of people so we had to wait a lot  :( Swiss Sunshine had to hid me in her bag because I was too little to go on roller coasters :(

We got wet on the "Poseidon" and on the rafting. We got scared on the "Euro Sat", a big big ball and inside, it's dark and there's a great rollercoaster!

Posted Sep 21, 2007, 2:39 pm
Then we ate a delicioud burger with french fries (or Pommes as the say in Germany!) Miam!

After the meal, Swiss Sunshine a I went to the biggest and the scariest thing of Europa Park: the "Silver Star!" Glups, I'll never do it again!!

My hosts's children were in Karlsruhe today to go ice scating. So my hosts decided to go there to and maybe let us try ice scating, but unhappily the battery of the camera stopped working, when we were there. I asked them to buy new batteries and they did so, but nevertheless they didn't want to go back to the scating area.
But they showed me the front of the palace of Karlsruhe and some other views out of the car.

Karlsruhe is only about 20 minutes from Bruchsal. When you drive there you have to drive through the flat Rhine valley. On the way home to Bruchsal, you see the small hills of the Kraichgau. Bruchsal is a small city, that is located partly in the Rhine valley and in the Kraichgau.

6th January is Epiphany or Three Kings Day - that's what my hosts say, of course in German. Their children walk with the starsingers on two days around this day and this year it was the 5th and 6th January, that they walked.
At first they dress as the three kings and the star carrier and some little followers, who carry the bags. The children collect money for poor children all over the world and they receive a lot of sweets too. The adults prepare lunch for them and bring something to drink and eat to them, while they are walking from house to house. They also empty the bag, because these are getting really heavy. I saw some and have been very astonished, especially when we came back to the parish hall and I saw all these full bags, that the kids received at the end of the two days.
All toyvoyagers had been allowed to be with the children, while they sorted out their sweets in the livingroom. They all had a lot of fun. I believe, that this amount of sweets will last until next Christmas - like every year as my host said.

Today Petra wanted to walk somewhere and Ralf drove to the Letzenberg, where is a nice chapel.
The Letzenberg is a place of pilgrimage since 1296 A.D. It is told, that already then there stood a chapel. 1722 A.D. prince-bishop Damian Hugo Philipp, Graf (Count) of Schönborn collected for a chapel, but without success.
In the year 1903 A.D. the chapel was built and consecrated.

When we were there, we had some wonderful views over Malsch and the vineyards, too.
On our way home we watched a wonderful sunset.

At home again we saw the Christmas tree and crib in the livingroom. Our hosts told us, that sometimes they have the Christmas tree up until 2nd February.
The Feast of the Presentation of Jesus at the Temple (also known as Candlemas or Feast of the Purification of the Virgin) celebrates an early episode in the life of Jesus. In the Roman Catholic Church, the Presentation is a feast celebrated on 2 February and is the fourth Joyful Mystery of the Rosary.

Bruchsal is a small city with about 27 000 inhabitants, with suburbs about 42 000. It was first named in 976 A.D.

The first place we visited was the Belvedere, which was a former hunting lodge. Now it is a place for summer outside theatre and summer feasts.

Next to the Belvedere is a lovely small park with beautiful trees. The grammar school, that is close by too, uses this park as playground.

This fountain is in the middle of the park.

When you walk out of the park, you have a wonderful view over Bruchsal. Of course we haven't had that wonderful weather.
From left to right you see the towers of the former castle called Bergfried, the tower of the city church "Unsere Liebe Frau" and of the Lutherkirche. The flat roof belongs to the new part of the older peoples' house.
http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2405/2214919744_827e246d4b.jpg?v=0

On this photo you see the baroque church St.Peter and the house Sancta Maria, which are both close to the house, where I'm staying right now.
http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2306/2214919748_d4b5d7463e.jpg?v=0

The house next to us with the flat roof and the white big house in the far is the older people's house. The grey house in the far on the left side is a private grammar school called St.Paulusheim.
http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2118/2214919754_318107166e.jpg?v=0

Then we went to the palace of Bruchsal. It was completely destroyed during the second world war but rebuilt in the 70th.
Here you see a view to the gate Damianstor.
http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2414/2214921662_bed75af4e0.jpg?v=0

When you just turn around on the place you can see the mainbuilding of the palace on the right side. The left part is the church St. Damian and Hugo, where my hosts are going to service on Sundays. Behind the church you see the tower of the church.
http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2171/2214921666_5d1a18616c.jpg?v=0

This is the county court of Bruchsal.
http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2420/2214921670_be90e90d79.jpg?v=0

Again turning around on the place you see the entrance to the mainbuilding.
http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2302/2214921672_9766085f77.jpg?v=0

We went into the church and I saw the nice crib. Unhappily the photo didn't come out well enough, but I hope, we will go there again and take another one.

In the church you can see some photos of the palace and church before and right after the war. The church was beautiful inside, but now it is only painted in white. Of course the costs would have been much too expensive to make everything as it had been before the war.

Here you see a photo of the palace area.
http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2311/2214129295_8c0acec41a.jpg?v=0

When we came out of the church, we looked back to the county court on the right and the Damianstor on the left side. Next to the Damianstor you maybe see a red thick tower, this it the tower of the jailhouse.

The  building in my back is the backside of the church. And you see the tower of the church, too.

It's carnival time, they call it the fifth season. Today was the carnival procession through the streets of Bruchsal. My host family met friends and then they stood in front of their house to watch the procession. We toyvoyagers didn't dress up today, but we will try to do it this coming week.
Here are a view impressions of the procession. Petra said, that it was just too much time between the groups, that came along the way.

After Petra came home from school, she asked us, whether we would like to go and see the nice view from top of the small hill called Michaelsberg, which belongs to Untergrombach, a suburb of Bruchsal.

The weather was foggy, so of course I couldn't see the Palatine mountains and very far into the Rhine valley. But at least I saw a part of Bruchsal in the far.
http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2090/2231474482_b4c988ca3d.jpg?v=0

The quarry pond belongs to Untergrombach. Petra liked to swim there, when she was younger.
http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2258/2230676951_1615eb4b78.jpg?v=0

The houses you see on the right side belong to Untergrombach. It was getting dark rather quickly.
http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2002/2231474490_43bb6dd837.jpg?v=0

This is the nice chapel called "Michaelskapelle".
http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2230/2231477132_c4590d7c48.jpg?v=1201777209

It was rather cold there and windy. So we hurried to go back to the car. We took the last photo, while sitting in the car. It is a view to another suburb of Bruchsal, Obergrombach. And you see the Kraichgau hill country. I saw it much better than you do on this photo. It was just too dark already.

Yesterday something scaring happened to me. I didn't think anything bad, just sat together with my toyvoyager friends and talked about our stay here and where we will go next and so.
Suddenly a hand grapped Hoppity and me. I looked at the face and I saw a really young captain Jack Sparrow. Shock!!!!

http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2253/2231484370_345b53214b.jpg?v=1201783560

I needed a while until I was able to open my eyes and to look in that face again. Phew, was I happy to see, that it only was my hosts son, who was dressed up as Jack Sparrow for his school carnival.

Today we had to say GOODBYE to Tenderheart Bear and Sylphide. They will travel to Pandamao in Munich now. We all are a little sad of course, but I think, that some others will go on with their travel soon, too.

Oh yes, I nearly forgot to tell you, that I had been so nervous, that I crawled into the wrong envie!!! Petra had to hold me and put me into the right box.

The kids took us with them to the carnival procession in Karlsdorf, which is a small town near to Bruchsal. We asked them to take some photos with us, but it didn't work so well. Ok, maybe it was also our fault, because we always tried to jump into the photos.
Nevertheless we can see them here and some other photos with witches, which are very important for carnival in Germany and a music group, which plays Guggenmusik - a music, that you only can listen to but not explain and some more.

The trip was short and comfy --- there were a lot of toyvoyagers waiting couriously for me to climb out of the box.
Besides me and Tenderheart Bear also Snegovik had arrived at the same day. And so great to see Bartélémy - he told me that he had quite a nice time in Munich seeing some graffiti and even a Gothic shop. We'll have a lot of fun  :D

Today Barthélémy wanted to visit the "Alter Südfriedhof" (Old South Cemetery) so I just came along.

This is what I read about the cemetery:

It is a little known fact that Munich's oldest green area is 450 years old, that it's in the heart of town and that it's a cemetery - the Alter Südfriedhof. The cemetery is something of a conservation area and bears unique testimony to the city's cultural history. Its romantically overgrown graves, tombs and mausoleums pay homage to distinguished Munich figures - artists, architects, master builders and scientists.

In the plague year 1523 graveyards within the city walls were so overfilled that a new cemetery - the "Äußerer Freithof" - was opened outside the city gate at the Sendlinger Tor. The cemetery wall and all the buildings were later destroyed as a preventative military measure in the Thirty Years War. Well into the 18th century the cemetery was looked on as a poor man's burial ground. In 1844, a new section designed by Gärtner was added and it continued to be Munich's central burial ground up to 1868.

The cemetery suffered severe bomb damage in 1944-45. Today, only a quarter of the graves are identifiable and many are in urgent need of renovation. Work is underway.

Even if the cemetery is not in use anymore many people were walking there. It is like a park nowadays. We saw little spring flowers blossom and sat on a bench in the sun.

Some of the graves are inside the back wall of the houses. And windows pop up between the statues on the graves.

Our host had bought red cabbage ... because she could hardly eat 2 kg of it on her own we decided to prepare and preserve it. I did the research and found a nice recipe. Then our host had to cut the onions and red cabbage. We sprinkled everything with salt and now it has to rest for a whole night.
Pandamao

Posted Feb 12, 2008, 9:10 pm
After one night we washed and dried the cabbage, filled it in glass and filled the glass with vinegar (prepared with oranges and spices - mmmh, great smell). I helped to close the lids. Now the cabbage has to rest for 3 or 4 months - too bad, because I'll travel and not be able to test the taste.

HAPPY EASTER!
Today it's Easter Monday and Pandamao went to this little town in the Oberpfalz to see her dad and she took me along.
We walked along the street and wondered what was going on in that little park opposite. When we came closer we saw that it was an "Easter fountain". In this part of Bavaria it's the custom to decorate the fountains with Easter eggs. There must be hundreds or thousands of eggs here. They really look beautiful.

I did some more sight-seeing today and went to the area where the Hofbräuhaus is located. The first photo shows the Orlando House and then I pose in the front of the nearby Hofbräuhaus. It is a huuuuuuuge beerhall.
I also met some local bears. We had a nice conversation about TVs and traveling the world but the Bavarian bears did not want to join. Seems, that they would miss their Sunday morning beer Stammtisch (regulars' table) at the Hofbräuhaus too much.

Today I helped Pandamao to do a wild release for bookcrossing  - well, it was not totally wild, it was a OBCZ at the San Francisco Coffee Shop at Gärtnerplatz. Usually people pick up books there but they would not make bookcrossing entries at the website. Opposite you can see the Opera at Gärtnerplatz.

Hello mum!
What a big surprise, today when we came out of bed.. The sun was FINALLY shining!! And not even a little, no no the sun was shining so much and so warm!!

We immidiatly went in the car to go to the Beach, we went to Kijkduin!

We went walking and sitting on the pier, it was a little scary because the water came a little closer every minute!

http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y68/sweetangelleonie/zandkoekje.jpg
We even made cookies of sand!!

Then it was time to go home.
Lejow wanted to make Roti today, a typical dish from Surinam, wich Lejows loves very very much.
It is hard to cook, with al the herbs and stuff..
It is a dish with the roti (pancake like food), chicken, unions, potatoes, and long beans.
So she followed the recepie and here we went..

Maybe next time.. she just has to practise I think haha!

As you can see in the picture we ate at the balkony, it was such nice weather. We enjoyed the sun

In the biggest tower (not on the pictures) Minster Balkenende is working, he is the most important one!
He kinda runns the Netherlands, together with our Queen.

So we went to the store, and everywhere its sold out, but in one store, they had one for us!!
We immediatly bought a game with it, and lejow let us play!
It is sooo cool, but you become tired so fast, you have to move your whole body!

Hello again!

This week Tony went to the next host and a new TV arrived, when we opened the envelope, not one, but two TV's came out!!
They are Hottie and Nottie, just married !!!

Today it is may 4th. A very special day for the Netherlands.
At the 5th of may, 63 years ago, the World War II ended.. And today is the day that everybody in Holland rembers the people that had died in that War.
Not only the people, but also all the soldiers that served our country.

On every TV station, round a quarter before 8, the remembrance of the death begin.
In Amsterdam, on the Dam, the Queen (Beatrix) and her Son (Prince Willem Alexander) put down flowers as a remembrence of the people who died.

Playing music on the trumpets

http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y68/sweetangelleonie/8uur.jpg
At exactly 8 o clock, everybody (ok at least a lot of people) have two minutes sillence, to let everybody know it is 8 a clock, someone plays a special song on a trumpet.

http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y68/sweetangelleonie/bloem.jpg
See the queen and her son laying down the special flowers.

It was a special day, it let me think about the war, and all the people who died. Even if it's 63 years ago, it's important to allways remember it.

After a not so very long trip I arrived today at my new host, Charda. The first thing I saw when I crawled out of the envelope were two big eyes of a feline creature. That scared me a little, but I quickly saw a big grin on his face and I realized he didn't have any bad intentions. Yolanda was also right there and she was really kind to me.

And now I'm going to rest a little from the journey. It wasn't a very long distance, but I'm still feeling a bit nauseous from the rides in the trucks together with the rest of the mail. I'm gonna chat with my two new friends here and tell them all about my journeys.

"Sylphide, Sylphide wake up!" I woke up and was a bit confused for a moment. Where was I? Who was this white bear tugging at my wings? "Sylphide, there's a message for you!" Now I was even more confused. A message in this strange place? For me? "Yes, look, it has your name on it."
http://www.charda.nl/photos/TV/Sylphide/q001.jpg
Yeah, this white bear was right. It is a message and it has my name on it. "Where did it come from?" "This really strange man delivered it. He looked like a wizard! He said I was to give it to you in person and to no one else. Now, quickly, read it." So that's what I did.

Wow! A quest for wisdom, for me? That's exactly what faeries do, right? They do quests! And now I get to do one! I was so excited! I quickly searched around the house for the first clue. I decided to ask this nice couple for help. They told me I had done right to come to them, because they had the first lesson for me.
http://www.charda.nl/photos/TV/Sylphide/q003.jpg
Okay, giving and taking, I can see what they mean by that. Let's go find the next one.
http://www.charda.nl/photos/TV/Sylphide/q004.jpg
Ah, that's a wise lesson for a little faerie like me. I'm not that strong, but I can persevere. Let's ask that big fluffy orange guy on top of the closet there, maybe he's got something to say.
http://www.charda.nl/photos/TV/Sylphide/q005.jpg
Hmm, I shouldn't quit trying then, I don't want to be a loser of course!
http://www.charda.nl/photos/TV/Sylphide/q006.jpg
He looks like that guy who was with Santa! I believe there's even a song about him with his red nose. I should talk with him some time. Maybe he knows about Santa's elves.
http://www.charda.nl/photos/TV/Sylphide/q007.jpg
Outside I found this mouse. I believe he's right. But I already try to be friends with everyone I meet, and being a ToyVoyager, I meet lots of new friends all around the world!
http://www.charda.nl/photos/TV/Sylphide/q008.jpg
That's exactly a quote I expected from him. He looks so happy all the time. He's surely looking up all the time and maybe I should do the same.
http://www.charda.nl/photos/TV/Sylphide/q009.jpg
Of course these English bears wanted to give me a famous English quote. And again, I think there's some truth in their quote. What if I had stayed at home and stayed in a closet or on a shelf somewhere. That would have been awful! I'm so glad I'm a TV with hosts to take care of me and love me while I'm staying with them.
http://www.charda.nl/photos/TV/Sylphide/q010.jpg
Hey, he's the black and white creature from China from my message! And he seems very wise indeed.
"And, Syphilde, what have you learned from this quest?" "Wow, I learnt so much! I learnt to be friends with people, to never give up, that it is important to be looking up and love is important. And so many more things as well, I can't even repeat them all! "Well, I think you learnt many important lessons. Make sure you always take these lessons with you wherever you go and whatever you do. For completing the quest successfully and to never forget these lessons, I give you this special Bracelet of Wisdom.
http://www.charda.nl/photos/TV/Sylphide/q011.jpg
Wow, look at me! This is so cool! My very own custom-made bracelet. Now I'll never forget these lessons! "Thank you, Mr Panda."

This was quite an adventure and it was a lot of fun!

Since the weather was really bad today, we didn't go outside to show me around. I have seen a lot of the area anyway with Lejow already. My host brought me along with her when we went shopping. This is a picture of me at the bus stop. It was the only place where I could be photographed without getting wet.
http://www.charda.nl/photos/TV/Sylphide/photo003.JPG
It was really busy in the shopping centre and my host wasn't too pleased that it was so busy in the supermarket. She also said they didn't have everything she wanted. I can't imagine that, because they have so many different things! Anyway, here's a picture of what my host and her boyfriend bought. Can you spot me?
http://www.charda.nl/photos/TV/Sylphide/photo004.JPG
After putting away all the groceries, Charda asked me if I wanted to help her sort out the laundry. Of course I wanted to! Do you think I did it right?
http://www.charda.nl/photos/TV/Sylphide/photo005.JPG
And here my host and I put it in the washing machine. I didn't go in of course; I just wanted to make sure everything was in place.
http://www.charda.nl/photos/TV/Sylphide/photo006.JPG
And just when we were ready with the laundry, Charda's boyfriend had prepared dinner and it was ready! Of course I got my own plate. I asked her whether this was a typical Dutch meal, but she said that it wasn't. It was an Oriental meal based on curry and coconut with chicken and rice. It tasted really good!
http://www.charda.nl/photos/TV/Sylphide/photo007.JPG
I'm not sure what we're going to do tonight. Maybe I'll just watch some television together with Charda or I'll hang around with Yolanda and Jason. We'll see!

Today I visited the house of Charda's mother-in-law. It was only a short visit, but I did have a nice stroll around the garden. Luckily the weather was a lot better than yesterday and I had a great time. I also chatted with the garden gnomes.

Last night my host and her boyfriend had cheese-fondue for dinner. I am next to the cheese. I had to be careful while taking these pictures, because I almost burnt my foot :)
http://www.charda.nl/photos/TV/Sylphide/photo008.JPG
http://www.charda.nl/photos/TV/Sylphide/photo009.JPG
After dinner I helped Charda photograph all the postcards she had received in the last couple of weeks. There was quite a few of them. I wasn't such a great help when I sat on the postcard, so I watched from a distance when she did the others.
http://www.charda.nl/photos/TV/Sylphide/photo010.JPG
http://www.charda.nl/photos/TV/Sylphide/photo011.JPG
There was a full moon at night. You can't really see it very well, but the white spot next to my head is the moon :)
http://www.charda.nl/photos/TV/Sylphide/photo012.JPG
Today my host took me shopping. She had lots of things to buy and again she wasn't very happy about it. So she decided to take a rest and buy herself a cup of coffee. On this picture you see me next to the empty glass. She also gave me a sip of her latte macchiato. It tasted very good.
http://www.charda.nl/photos/TV/Sylphide/photo013.JPG
And when we were finally at home we drank some tea together. I even had my own cup. The tea was a 20-herbs tea. Being a faerie, I thought that was very interesting. This also tasted very good :)
http://www.charda.nl/photos/TV/Sylphide/photo014.JPG
At night my host prepared dinner and I helped her. It was a dish called Aardappel Anders. The ingredients were potatoes (aardappels), onions and cheese. The second picture is the result. It was delicious.
http://www.charda.nl/photos/TV/Sylphide/photo015.JPG
http://www.charda.nl/photos/TV/Sylphide/photo016.JPG
After dinner there was dessert of course! It was a kind of pudding with caramel flavour. I even had my own dish. So you see, they won't let me starve here! I hope I'll still fit in the envelope to travel to my next host in a few weeks time!

While my host was studying for her exam, she asked me whether I wanted to read along with her, or if I wanted to read in a book about faeries. Of course I preferred reading about faeries over her work, because it looks really dull, even though she says it's also about fairytales and knights. Just look at the difference!
http://www.charda.nl/photos/TV/Sylphide/photo018.JPG

Here's another blue faerie like me, also with wings!

http://www.charda.nl/photos/TV/Sylphide/photo019.JPG

My host read me these poems. They weren't in the book, but they are about faeries.

When the last colours of the day
Have from their burning ebbed away,
About that ruin, cold and lone,
The cricket shrills from stone to stone;
And scattering o'er its darkened green,
Bands of the fairies may be seen,
Chattering like grasshoppers, their feet
Dancing a thistledown dance round it:
While the great gold of the mild moon
Tinges their tiny acorn shoon.

Walter de la Mare

http://www.charda.nl/photos/TV/Sylphide/photo020.JPG

I met a little elfman once,
Down where the lilies blow.
I asked him why he was so small,
And why he did't grow.
He slightly frowned, and with his eye
He lookes me through and through-
"I'm just as big for me" said he,
"As you are big for you!"

John Kendrick Bangs

http://www.charda.nl/photos/TV/Sylphide/photo021.JPG

If you see a fairy ring
In a field of grass,
Very lightly step around,
Tiptoe as you pass;
Last night fairies frolicked there,
And they're sleeping somewhere near.

If you see a tiny fay
Lying fast asleep,
Shut your eyes and run away,
Do not stay or peep;
And be sure you never tell,
Or you'll break a fairy spell.

William Shakespeare

http://www.charda.nl/photos/TV/Sylphide/photo022.JPG

I found a little fairy flute
Beneath the harebell blue;
I sat me down upon the moss
And blew a note or two.

And as I blew the rabbits came
Around me in the sun,
And little mice and velvet moles
Came creeping one by one.

A swallow perched upon my head
A robin on my thumb,
The thrushes sang in tune with me,
The bees began to hum.

I loved to see them all around
And wished they'd stay,
When down a little fairy flew
And snatched my flute away!

And then the swallow fluttered off,
And gone were all the bees,
The rabbits ran, and I was left
Alone among the trees!

Enid Blyton

http://www.charda.nl/photos/TV/Sylphide/photo023.JPG

"Oh! what shall I do?" sobbed a tiny mole,
"A Fairy has stumbled into my hole;
It is full of water and crewling things,
And she can't get out, for she's hurt her wings.

"I did my best to catch hold of her hair,
But my arms are short, and she's still in there.
Oh! help her, white rabbit, your arms are very long;
You say you're good, and I know your strong."

"Dont bother me," the white rabbit said-
She shut up her eyes and her ears grew red-
"There's lots of mud and its sure to stick
On my beautiful fur, so white and thick."

"Oh dear! oh dear!" sobbed the poor little mole,
"Who'll help the Fairy out of the hole?"
A little brown rabbit popped up from the gorse,
"I'm not very strong, but I'll try, of course."

His little tail bobbed as he waddled in,
The muddy water came up to his chin;
But he caught the Fairy tight by the hand,
And helped her get to Fairyland.

But she kissed him first on his muddy nose,
She kissed his face and his little wet toes;
And when the day dawned in the early light,
The common brown rabbit was silvery white.

My host told me that she found these poems on a website: Faerie Writings
You can also find other faerie-poems and stories there. I really liked to learn more about my fellow faeries. Maybe I'll even meet another faerie one day!

After Charda finished studying and I finished reading my book about faeries, Charda went downstairs to fetch the mail. And look what she brought in an envelope! Another ToyVoyager! She is called Mira and she came all the way from Australia. I asked Charda why she hadn't told me she was coming, but she said she didn't even know she was on her way already! She had invited her, but she didn't know she was to join us right now. I am a bit sorry to have to share Charda's attention with this little dog, but I gave her a warm welcome anyway, together with Yolanda. Oh, and Charda also received three postcards today. They are on Mira's envelope.

Mira, Yolanda and I
http://www.charda.nl/photos/TV/Sylphide/photo026.JPG
In the evening, the four of us decided to play a game of memory. We had a really nice time. Mira told some stories about the animals they have in Australia, like those big terrible spiders and I told her about the chiens, I mean dogs and other animals we have in France.

I almost won, but in the end Mira was the winner. I could have won if I wanted to of course, but I felt sorry for her, so I let her win. She's just a kid.

Tonight my host went to a Greek restaurant for dinner with her boyfriend and his family. And of course Mira and I went along!
http://www.charda.nl/photos/TV/Sylphide/photo031.JPG
This is them feeding me a cup of 'ouzo', the original beverage from Greece. I liked the taste, though it was a bit strong for me.
http://www.charda.nl/photos/TV/Sylphide/photo032.JPG
Some time later the main course arrived. My host had ordered 'moussaka' and I got to eat along with her.
http://www.charda.nl/photos/TV/Sylphide/photo033.JPG
http://www.charda.nl/photos/TV/Sylphide/photo034.JPG
Between the courses I happily joined in the conversation.
http://www.charda.nl/photos/TV/Sylphide/photo035.JPG
I wanted to check the wine from up close, but not this close! I think this is not really a TV-sized bottle :)
http://www.charda.nl/photos/TV/Sylphide/photo036.JPG
Wow, this is strong stuff!
http://www.charda.nl/photos/TV/Sylphide/photo037.JPG
I think I liked this course best: the dessert! Lots of icecream and whipped cream. They all seemed to share anyway, so I just took my share :)
http://www.charda.nl/photos/TV/Sylphide/photo038.JPG
After dinner we were offered this orange liqueur. Mira was also offered a glass for her own, but she couldn't reach it, so they gave it to me. And luckily they also had a small glass for Mira ;)

Today another tv arrived! Yet we were a bit more prepared for this arrival. Today Trafalgar arrived from Germany. He will be going to London with us, because it's his life mission to see Trafalgar Square and we can help him with that!

This afternoon we went to Park Clingendael in The Hague. My host told me that she will have to work a lot next week and the week after that, so we might not get out much in the next weeks. But today the weather was nice, so we went outside. This is me in front of a typical Dutch scenery with the cows.

Even though I really liked the tour of the park, I now wanted to run around and play a little. So Charda sat us down in a field and gave us a ball to play with. Here I am with Trafalgar, Mira and Jason. We had great fun!

After playing with the ball we just lay down for a little while. There wasn't much sun to sunbathe in, but it was nice and comfortable, also because we were tired from walking through the park and playing with the ball.

This morning we accompanied our host Charda to the supermarket. We didn't take any pictures there, but here is a picture of us in the rental car.
http://www.charda.nl/photos/TV/hs/photo001.JPG
In the afternoon we were quite bored, until Yolanda came up with a great idea. "Let's play hide and seek!" she said. All of us were very excited and eager to participate. "Where is Troddy? He has to join us as well!"
http://www.charda.nl/photos/TV/hs/photo002.JPG
"There he is, reading a magazine. Something about history it seems. Let me see if I can convince him to play along with us."
http://www.charda.nl/photos/TV/hs/photo003.JPG
"Come on Troddy, get your nose out of the books and play with us!" *sigh* "Well, okay then."
http://www.charda.nl/photos/TV/hs/photo004.JPG
Trafalgar joined the others. They decided that Yolanda was the one who would try to find the others.
http://www.charda.nl/photos/TV/hs/photo005.JPG
"One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten. Ready or not, here I come!"
http://www.charda.nl/photos/TV/hs/photo006.JPG
"I think I see Jason already."
http://www.charda.nl/photos/TV/hs/photo007.JPG
"Yes, that's him. Why did you hide there, Jason?"
http://www.charda.nl/photos/TV/hs/photo008.JPG
"Well, I couldn't see you, so you couldn't see me, right?"
http://www.charda.nl/photos/TV/hs/photo009.JPG
"I don't think the teapot is supposed to look like that. I think I found Mira!"
http://www.charda.nl/photos/TV/hs/photo010.JPG
"Aw, you found me so quickly. I thought I had a nice hiding place."
http://www.charda.nl/photos/TV/hs/photo011.JPG
"Let me continue my search. Hey, that looks like Sylphide's wing!"
http://www.charda.nl/photos/TV/hs/photo012.JPG
"Yep Sylphide, found you!
http://www.charda.nl/photos/TV/hs/photo013.JPG
"Your wing was sticking out of the drawer." "Yeah, I thought I felt something, but I had to be quick and quiet."
http://www.charda.nl/photos/TV/hs/photo014.JPG
"Okay, now let's find Troddy Trafalgar. Where would I be able to find him? Hey, that book is not supposed to be there!"
http://www.charda.nl/photos/TV/hs/photo015.JPG
"Just what I thought: a book with a fuzzy creature behind it!
http://www.charda.nl/photos/TV/hs/photo016.JPG
"Up here Troddy!"
http://www.charda.nl/photos/TV/hs/photo017.JPG
"Hmm, too bad you already found me. I was enjoying that book. I love Dickens :)"
http://www.charda.nl/photos/TV/hs/photo018.JPG
"Well guys, that wasn't too difficult. I found all of you. I think that means..."
http://www.charda.nl/photos/TV/hs/photo019.JPG
"that I won!"

Since my host had to work all week, there haven't many updates this week. And unfortunately, next week will be the same. But we did something this week. On Wednesday we went to The Hague. First we ate at Burger King.
http://www.charda.nl/photos/TV/Trafalgar/photo046.JPG
After we had dinner, we walked to the 'Binnenhof' in The Hague. I had already been there, but I hadn't seen this mountain of ice the last time I was here. I thought it was a strange sight.
http://www.charda.nl/photos/TV/Sylphide/photo079.JPG
Today I met two fantasy creatures. This is me with Gollum. He was really strange. He kept talking about this ring. I don't know what he meant, I didn't see a ring anywhere.

And I met this dragon. She was pretty nice.

Hi!

Here's a real quick update to show that I am still alive and doing well! Like she said, my host has to work all week, but here are some pictures to show you I am still fine!
These are the cards my host is going to send to fellow Postcrossers. I thought the pictures were very pretty.
http://www.charda.nl/photos/TV/photo003.JPG
And today two new friends arrived! They are not ToyVoyagers, at least not yet, and they are here to stay! My host got them on the forum and in return sent two bears to Threadbear in South Africa. Here are the two friends that came crawling out of the envelope.
http://www.charda.nl/photos/TV/photo004.JPG
And this is a group picture of all of us together. The cat took an immediate liking to Jason. I do think they look alike. Both cat-like, both the same posture...

Hi!

Last night we watched a movie together with our host. It was a BBC miniseries about the life of Charles II. Here you can see us watching it.
http://www.charda.nl/photos/TV/Ceryni/photo004.JPG
Unfortunately, most of us didn't really think it was that interesting, so we fell asleep on the couch, except for Trafalgar. He was enjoying it thoroughly!
http://www.charda.nl/photos/TV/Ceryni/photo005.JPG
And tonight we helped our host assemble the envelopes for a Postcrossing Round Robin. Just look at all those envelopes with tea! I'm just glad that I won't be leaving yet in one of those!

Tonight we watched television. There was a football match on TV. It's a very important match between Italy and the Netherlands in the European Championship. None of us are usually in favour of the Netherlands, but since we're here, we'll try our best :D
http://www.charda.nl/photos/TV/Trafalgar/photo058.JPG
http://www.charda.nl/photos/TV/Trafalgar/photo059.JPG
Our host's boyfriend said we should drink beer while watching soccer. We looked at the bottle and we decided against it.
http://www.charda.nl/photos/TV/Trafalgar/photo060.JPG
This bucket of ice cream looked much more attractive than that bottle of beer!
http://www.charda.nl/photos/TV/Trafalgar/photo061.JPG
The Dutch team won from Italy with 3-0! Everyone is really excited here! Except for my host, because she hates soccer. But everyone on the streets is yelling and shouting and singing, and cars are honking. I'm quite excited the match ended this way!

Okay, here's a really short update. All of us have arrived safely in the Netherlands today. We had a great week in London and we have seen quite a few famous landmarks. Our host says she'll update the pictures within a few days, but that might take a while, because there are so many :)
Here's all of us in the hotel room. We'll talk later!

Today is the big day! We're travelling to London, England! This plane is not the one we were flying with, but it is a nice Dutch plane here at Schiphol airport in Amsterdam.
http://www.charda.nl/photos/TV/Sylphide/photo082.jpg
The flight went very smoothly. There were no delays and no turbulence. The plane was very full and it was impossible for my host to take any pictures. So this is where we arrived: London, England!
http://www.charda.nl/photos/TV/London/photo001.JPG
We were pretty early at the hotel, like 12 in the afternoon, so my hosts decided to go for a walk through the city. We went to the Houses of Parliament, Westminster Abbey, the Big Ben and the London Eye.

That was all we had seen the first day. My hosts were both very tired from the trip and from walking around, so they went back to the hotel early.

On Tuesday we first went for a walk through the park in the Kensington Gardens. There we met this squirrel. He wasn't what you would call shy or anything.

On the other side of the park was the Royal Albert Hall. This is me in front of the statue in front of the hall.

We went to Piccadilly Circus by Underground. Here's the proof :)

This is just a random spot in London.
http://www.charda.nl/photos/TV/London/photo012.JPG
After that we walked to Trafalgar Square. This is the National Gallery on Trafalgar Square. We didn't go in there today, but we did do so on Saturday, allthough we weren't allowed to take any pictures in there.

Today we went to the British Museum.
http://www.charda.nl/photos/TV/London/photo015.JPG
There were many interesting statues there.
http://www.charda.nl/photos/TV/Sylphide/photo094.jpg
My host said she just loved these Greek statues. They were very impressive.

On Thursday we only visited Westminster Abbey, but we weren't allowed to take any pictures there, so there's just this picture of the Big Ben of that day.
http://www.charda.nl/photos/TV/London/photo019.JPG
On Friday we went to the Tate Britain museum. Again, we weren't allowed to take any pictures there, so there's just this picture.
http://www.charda.nl/photos/TV/London/photo020.JPG
In the afternoon we went to the Museum of London. This is me outside the museum. I know it says 'Useum of London', but the 'M' is just hidden behind the tree ;)
http://www.charda.nl/photos/TV/Sylphide/photo096.jpg
After our visit to this museum we walked to St. Paul's Cathedral. It was really close by. We didn't go in though, so we only took these pictures from the outside.

The bathtub was really big and comfortable, but the dogs didn't want to join us.
http://www.charda.nl/photos/TV/London/photo024.JPG
Our host Charda found this British bear in a souvenirshop and she decided to adopt him. He was all right, a bit posh maybe.
http://www.charda.nl/photos/TV/London/photo025.JPG
Our last group picture in England!
http://www.charda.nl/photos/TV/London/photo026.JPG
On Saturday we flew back home to the Netherlands, to our host's home that is of course. The plane on this next picture isn't our plane, because we were inside ours, but it was of the same airline.
http://www.charda.nl/photos/TV/London/photo027.JPG
And this is the view from the airplane while in the air. Cool huh, all those clouds.

So now we're back in the Netherlands. As you can see, we had a great time in England!

Hi Mummy,
I arrived in Remscheid today!

My new host Katja found my envelope when she came home in her lunch break. But she did not find only one envelope, no, even two envelopes. In the other envelope must be a ToyVoyager who is also from the Netherlands like me.

My envelope as opended and I was welcomed by Katja, eagle Aquila and owl Desmond.

http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3175/2627207667_9a35867a53.jpg?v=0

I had to crawl out of my envelope backwards. My wings were a little bit stiffy. It must have looked funny.

Then we opened the second envelope and Pip crawled out of it.

Pip is very glad to meet Desmond - they belong to the same mentor, Eryah.

I also brought a postcard from Charda with me, but unfortunately we forgot to make a photo. We'll do it later.

You'll hear from me soon.

Hi Mummy,
today we visited Müngsten Bridge, one of the touristic highlights in this region.

The Müngsten Bridge is the highest steel railroad bridge in Germany. The bridge is 107 metres  high and spans over the valley of the river Wupper, connecting the cities Remscheid and Solingen. Originally the bridge was named Kaiser-Wilhelm-Brücke (emperor Wilhelm bridge), to honour emperor Wilhelm I. After the end of the monarchy the bridge was named after the district between Remscheid and Solingen.

Here we are on our way to the bridge. In the background you can see a little look-out pavilion. From there you have a stunning view over the valley.

http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3032/2630952389_6d8824ed65.jpg?v=0

Now you can see me under the bridge.

http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3028/2631774938_83fee5f816.jpg?v=0

We walked along the promenade and had to walk uphill. Here you can see the valley with the bridge.

http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3100/2631775038_63d4f5c279.jpg?v=0

We went through the forrest for a while. I saw a very old tree with gigantic roots.

http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3185/2631775146_3bc992615c.jpg?v=0

When we came back to the river we rested in the sun. We were sitting at the bank of the river Wupper.

Here you can see to the other side.

http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3037/2631774402_fb1f983cd4.jpg?v=0

Close to the parking space we saw this map. I made a yellow marking at the place where we are living at the moment, the red one shows Müngsten Bridge.

http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3082/2631775240_937d2a2d18.jpg?v=0

Here you can see the bridge in comparison with other famous buildings, for example Cologne Cathedral.

It is really hot today. The weather forecast is expecting a thunderstorm in the evening, so we better stay at home.

Hi Mummy,
today I wanted to play with Katja's pets. She is keeping pet rats. They are cute with their pretty faces.

In the evening Katja put a little padding pool onto the floor. In the water a few slices of cucumber and also some maize kernels were "swimming". It is very warm in the apartment in the attic storey, so the pets need a little bit cooling.

We were sitting on a cardboard box next to the padding pool. One of the rats jumped into the pool, ate some pieces of the vegetables and got out of the water. She was sniffing at us. Another rat came sniffing at my backside and I fell into the pool. Of course I became wet. Katja tried to dry me with a towel. I spent the night on the clotheshorse.

Here you can see rat girl Claire sitting in the water, hunting cucumber slices.

http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3164/2637421708_fd2f63c780.jpg?v=0

This is Jordan, Claire's sister.

http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3035/2637421792_5b448f6c57.jpg?v=0

One of them hustled me into the water. But that was not dangerous for me - every elf can swim.

Hi Mummy,
today I had a look at the room of Katja's daughter. I met another elf there!

http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3170/2637421904_afe006380d.jpg?v=0

When Katja came home from work she brought today's mail with her. There was a small package in the mail. After we saw the package bounce on the table we opened it immediately. Wadworth arrived today.

http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3085/2636598059_97a28efa17.jpg?v=0

Wadworth was born in a brewery and wants to taste beer all over the world. I think in our fridge is enough beer to share with Wadworth.

In the afternoon Katja went to IKEA in Düsseldorf with a friend. I was still a little bit wet, so I preferred to stay at home with Desmond. He wanted to write something into his notebook.

When Katja came home she carried a lot of things: Drapes, a mobile file cabinet, flowers, plants, a red bad, food and more.

Hi Mummy,
today we visited Düsseldorf, the capital city of the German state of North Rhine-Westphalia. The city is situated on the River Rhine. We went there by train.

Here you can see us in the town centre. You can see the most famous shopping street of Düsseldorf: Königsallee.

http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3170/2639010999_174b59915f.jpg?v=0

We went through the old town looking for postcards. We planned to take a walk along the river Rhine.

Here you can see the old town hall in the middle of the old town.

The view across the river:

Here we are walking along the "Rheinterrassen", a large area with lawns and trees above the river banks. Many people were relaxing in the sun.

http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3040/2639011379_6bbc24bb73.jpg?v=0

We went over a bridge to cross the river and walked back on the other side of the river.

Katja and her friend rested in the beer garden of a nice restaurant. They had a drink and dinner there. We are back home now and we are all tired. We walked for hours in the sun, that's really exhausting.

Hi Mummy,
today we visited Katja's sister. She is living in Remscheid-Lennep, one of the oldest districts of Remscheid. It is about 770 years old.

First we were sitting in the garden, but it started raining in the afternoon. We had planned to walk through the old town to take some photos, but it did not stop raining.

We played in the garden, we were sitting in a wind wheel.

I met two little elfs, Aurelia and Morgaine. They are looking like me!

http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2059/2653308595_467c9f8bec.jpg?v=0

We also met a dragon who invited us to take a ride on his back. We were a little bit scared - look a his teeth!

In the evening Katja and her sister were sitting on the balcony, drinking a beer. We were sitting on the balcony railing. Of course Wadworth saw that they had a sort of beer that he did not taste until now, so he tried his best to get a hearty draught.

Hi Mummy,
today a new ToyVoyager arrived - Tilda from Australia.

http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3133/2655841828_2d30c9838c.jpg?v=0

First we only saw large feet. Pip thought it might have been a bunny. But it was not a bunny, it was Matilda, a kangaroo!

http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3228/2655016483_be9d0bde02.jpg?v=0

Tilda was very hungry so Katja made lunch for us. We had peach and cherries.

http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3200/2655842074_e88a76be01.jpg?v=0

In the afternoon we took a walk. The weather was not so good, it was very warm and muggy. Poor Tilda, she's wearing a pullover.

First we went to the munciple park. Here you can see the observatory.

http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3205/2655352465_05229ca3e6.jpg?v=0

We went into the park.

http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3253/2656178650_2712dcc6d8.jpg?v=0

http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3294/2655352119_a6fc77a248.jpg?v=0

There's a pond in the park, with ducks swimming on it. A lot of rhododendrons are situated at the banks of the pond, so that there is a lot of shadow. I rested in one of the trees.

http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3077/2656178424_934ea61717.jpg?v=0

Then we walked to a district called "Hasten", one of the oldest districts of Remscheid. Here you can see typical houses, covered with schist.

http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3231/2655352723_37bc3e2ebe.jpg?v=0

Here you can see a really old factory building. Nowadays a designer has his working place there.

http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3076/2655352239_55a9f30e90.jpg?v=0

This building is the museum of local history. Here you can see how people lived in ancient times. Katja promised us to visit the museum if the weather should stay bad.

http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2059/2656178248_80ba906116.jpg?v=0

In another small park you can find a pillar with the crest of the town and the names of the partner town engraved. Remscheid has a partner town in France - Quimper in Brittany.

http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3122/2655352389_4cefe7f2b7.jpg?v=0

Tilda will be surprised when meeting another Mathilda here. (She's black with little rounded ears, sharp teeth, long whiskers and an even longer tail=.

Hi Mummy,
today we helped Katja to cook a delicious soup with broccoli. We had broccoli, some deep frozen leek, green peas, vegetable stock, garlic and some spices.

http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3263/2661374717_140e0af626.jpg?v=0

First we put some fat into a pot and steamed leek, garlic and green peas, later we put the broccoli into the pot and added vegetable stock. It had to boil for a few minutes, then it had to be purreed. Because I am the largest I had to do all the work.

http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3165/2661374639_fe9013a93b.jpg?v=0

http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3128/2662200522_f1b7254d79.jpg?v=0

We addef salt, pepper and spices like nutmeg, basil, oregano and mixed herbes from the health food shop. When the soup was almost ready, we added some green cheese and sour cream.

http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3259/2661374867_082a4682f9.jpg?v=0

The soup was really delicious.

In the late evening we were sitting on the kitchen's window sill, looking outside. We had two candles.

http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3028/2661375009_afaa4b5bc1.jpg?v=0

While we were sitting there and talking we broke a secret. We told Wadworth where we will go next week (we were supposed to keep it for ourselves). We will fly to Munich on Tuesday. We will stay there until Thursday. I have already visited Munich, I liked it very much there.

My host is keeping pet rats. I was sitting with Tilda in the corridor where some of them were running around. Rat girl Jordan came to smell at our feet.

When we arrived in Munich, we drove into town by train. We brought our luggage to our lodging and went  into the town centre by subway immidately.

Munich is the capital city of Bavaria, Germany. Munich is located on the River Isar north of the Bavarian Alps. Munich is the third largest city in Germany. The town has about 1.35 million inhabitants.

We startet our visiting tour in the old town.

Here you can see Sendlinger Tor, part of the city's former fortification.

We were hungy and had lunch in a fancy doner kebap restaurant: Dönertier. It was opened by a Germany comedian, part of the famour duo Erkan & Stefan. Katja's daughter Alex was very anxious to visit this restaurant.

Erkan & Stefan created the "Dönertier", an animal that looks like a living kebap on it's spit. Alex wanted to buy such a plushy Dönertier.

Inside the restaurant we found a really exclusive interiour decoration, also many pictures showing the Dönertier.

We then climbed upon Peterskirche, about 300 stairs. From the church tower you have a good look over the city centre.

To the same complex of buildings the Residence belongs, which is the former royal palace of the Bavarian monarchs. You can also find the Court Garden in this complex. In the middle of the park in French style a circular temple (built in 1615 A.D.) is crowned by a statue of Bavaria.

We went to English Garden, one of the world's largest urban public parks. First we rested in the Monopterus, a replication of a classical Greek temple, later we went to the Biergarten at the Chinese Pagoda to have a beer.

Katja had a surprise for us. She had contacted another ToyVoyager host who is living here in Munich. We met Pandamo in the evening. She also had some TovVoyagers to show them around.

We met at the German Museum, located on an island in the river Isar.

We saw some interesting things in the inner courtyard of the museum, for example this gigantic turbine, which belonged to a hydroelectric power station in China.

Here you can see a  carousel close to the building of the museum and part of a ship's propeller.

We walked along the river Isar with Pandamo. We made some group pictures with the TVs Mocha, Bestik and Hurley.

We saw the Golden Friedensengel, which is standing on a pillar, 38 metres high. This statue reminds of the peaceful 25 years after the war between Germany and France in 1870/1871.

We walked along the river Isar back to the English Garden to have another beer, but this time a "Maß", the Bavarian word for 1 litre beer.

We talked and talked and became really tired.  We went to our lodging in the late evening and went to bed  immediately.

Hi Mummy,
yesterday my feet were hurting so bad that I did not want to go outside. I visited Munich already when I was here with Pandamo. It was nice to meet her again.

Today was our last day here in Munich. Yesterday in the late evening it started to rain and it did not stop until now.

In the morning we visited the Residenz, but you are not allowed to take any bag inside the museum. Photos can only be taken without flashlight. We had to stay in Katja's bag at the warderobe.

Our flight back home was at 3:15 p.m. so we had to leave Munich early.

Here we are at the airport in Munich.

This is our plane, again an Airbus A 320.

In the early evening we will be back home.

Hi Mummy,

yesterday Hendrieke arrived, a ToyVoyager from England. Hendrieke is a goose.

http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3009/2682435355_aea0895547.jpg?v=0

today we helped my new host Katja to prepare  her "Rumtopf" (fruit in rum).

We needed cherries (500 g), white rock candy (500 g) and a bottle of rum with 54 % alcohol.

http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3263/2682435433_266e013d39.jpg?v=0

First we had to clean the cherries and to pit them.

http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3185/2682435529_5bf7157c9a.jpg?v=0

Then we had to layer cherries and rock candy into the ceramic pot. Then you have to add rum until cherries and sugar are complete covered.

http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3186/2682436103_b9fdc1b171.jpg?v=0

We put the lid on the pot and put in into the cellar, where it is dark and cool. In two weeks we will add apricots and peaches.

Hi Mummy,
today we met Felix, a travelling bunny. Felix is the main character of a popular children’s books series. When Felix is travelling, he sends letters home to his “host” Sophie. She is the little girl who owns Felix.

It was coincidence that Felix started travelling. He got lost on a holiday trip at the airport and made his journey round the world until he returned to his home. He became adventurous and started his next journey with the help of Sophie.

Here Felix is exploring space. He writes a letter to Sofie from space. In the Felix-books you can find real envelopes and real letters.

… and from the jungle …

… and from other interesting locations like the sea bottom.

When he arrives safely at home Sophie is over the moon. Maybe she hopes that Felix will stay with her forever but he’s already thinking about new adventures.

Felix is like a ToyVoyager. I also hope to get home safely when I finished my adventures.

Here in Remscheid it is raining. On Thursday the weather will be better, the weather forecast says.

Hi Mummy,
today we went into the town centre. In the afternoon it stopped raining. Here you can see me at the central bus station and in front of the building of the local newspaper, Remscheider Generalanzeiger.

Hi Mummy,

today we went to Hitdorf with Katja's parents. Hitdorf is a small town located at the river Rhine. We took a walk along the river there.

Here you can see a ferry dock. The cable ferry is crossing the Rhine the whole day to bring cars, pedestrians, cyclists and biker to the other side.

We rested on a bank.

I was swinging in a tree.

This is the river mouth of the Wupper. The river Wupper is opening into the Rhine here.
