Hi Mummy,
I arrived in Remscheid today. This was a rather short trip! I am not the only ToyVoyager here. There are also Emma Squirrel, HolgiHH, MiniMarshmallow and MuhKuh. My host Katja and all TVs gave me a warm welcome. My host was happy about the present I brought with me, the "Sandmaennchen Wine Gums". She loves stuff like this She said she had never seen them before in a shop here. She promised that tomorrow we will taste them. When I toldmy new friends about me and Mrs. Magpie, Emma Squirrel promised to help me find Mrs. Magpie. While I will search under the trees, she will climb into the trees and have a look. There is a park just in front of my current home, maybe Mrs. Magpie is hiding there. Bye FerdiFuchs |

Hi Mummy,
the weather here is rather bad, so my host decided to decorate the walls in the living room. She moved to this apartment in July and did not finish all the painting works. Today was the perfect day to do it With the help of o stencil we painted roses onto the wall. Have a look at the result! Bye FerdiFuchs |

Hi Mummy,
today we made a fantastic trip to Gelsenkirchen in the Ruhr area. We visited a zoo there, the ZOOM-Erlebniswelt. This zoo is specialized in animals from Alaska, Africa and Asia. The whole area is divided into three parts. We started our adventure in Alaska. We found a hut like the one of a trapper. My host could have spent hours here with the raccoons They are extremely cute. Nobody has to starve here. We saw several bears here: Grizzly bears, Kodiak bears and polar bears. Can you also see what I saw in the bear enclosure? Magpies!!! They must have been completely insane to get so close to the bear! I hope my girlfriend would not be so careless. (Indeed the bear did not care about them at all.) The bear was separated from the visitors only by a thick glass panel. We entered Africa than! It is so cold today that I prefer the comfort of a heated apartment to those huts The lion was very lazy behind his glass panel. Zebras and antilopes were much more agil than the dozing lion... ... as well the giraffes. Those monkeys were living free on a small island. We entered Asia than. Here we also found a typical hut. Those cute quailes were also living free in a large enclosure like a greenhouse. They are the smallest galliformes in Europa. We had a lot of fun with those monkeys, gray langurs. They were playing endlessly in their enclosure, chasing each other and climbing and jumping from their ropes and nets. What a fantastic trip! And I even met friends of Mrs. Magpie. Bye FerdiFuchs |

Hi Mummy,
after attending a birthday party and eating far too much we felt an urge to take a walk in the late afternoon. First we went to the municipal park, only a few minutes to get there. On our way there we came along those nice dwellings. This is the police headquarter with a little park in front of it. We went to the municipal park than. In the entrance area you can find the observatory. We enjoyed the lovely weather. We left the park to reach the historical district Hasten. Here many lovely old houses remained after large parts of the city centre of Remscheid were destroyed in WW II. There are calm streets to live in . I like those traditional houses with their green shutters. This Patrician villa was built in the late 1790 years. Nowadays a museum is situated in the building. The German Tool Museum (Deutsches Werkzeugmuseum) is also situated on this estate. Here you can see some of severeal outdoor facilities. This looks like some kind of weird instrument of torture Another calm residental area ... From here we had a good overlook to the green surroundings of Remscheid. Remscheid is an old industrial city. You can often find industrial complexes - often historical ones - among dwellings. This is a famous producer of car seats. We decided to take a longer way home, through another park. My current home is in the house just beyond the park. Now I am hungry! Bye FerdiFuchs |
olgamaus Posted Sep 21, 2012, 10:21 am |
Hi Mummy,
today we visited friends in another district of Remscheid, it is called "Luettringhausen". We could have taken the bus, but we preferred to get there on foot, through a valley and a forest. We left home. We walked through a housing area. In the background there are already the green surroundings visible. The city centre of Remscheid is situated on top of a hill. The slopes of this hill are rather steep. Of course there were houses built, but also lots of allotment garden areas, like this one. We reached the valley than. Along the creek which formed this valley industrialization began in middle ages. Even nowadays you can still find industrial sites here, here a steel works. We left the streets to follow another creek. When we reached a forest we only had 15 minutes more to walk. Can you see the encircled "R" on the tree? This sign is marking a walking train which is running along the border of the municipal area of Remscheid, about 64 km long. We reached our destination. This motor-bike belongs to the husband of Katja's friend. Next time I must show you the ferrets. They are so cute and hoggish They often share their food with me. Bye FerdiFuchs |

Hi Mummy,
we took a short walk in the late afternoon in the surrounding forests, most of them are nature protection areas. Summer is over now, have a look at the fruits of a plane tree. The path was following a railway track for some time. Once more we walked through a housing area with those lovely houses. We had to hurry home than, it started to rain again. Bye FerdiFuchs |
olgamaus Posted Oct 2, 2012, 1:43 pm |
Hi Mummy,
we had almost two weeks with really ugly weather. It was cold als also raining the whole day. Today it was a bit better, so we took a walk in the city centre when our host had her lunch break. First stop was the city hall, originally built in 1906, than partly destroyed in WW II and rebuilt afterwards in a more modern style. There is a pillar on the large place in front of it, showing a lion, the heraldic animal of Remscheid. The shopping mall ... This is the theatre, The shopping street ... ... and the central bus station. I saw a wall which was covered with lovely read leafes. We went towards the central station, here several larger buildings were built in the last ten years. The whole station area was rebuilt from 2007 until about 2010. Back in the city centre Katja showed us this funny fountain. This is the main entrance of the shopping mall with the tower of the city hall in the background. At the end of the pedestrian area you can find this statue, two large forceps. They are a symbol for the tool producing industry here. There is a water tower close to the city hall. The silhouette of Remscheid with those two towers close together is visible from all the surrounding cities. On the right side of the next photo you can see the parking and loading zone of the shopping mall. We had to return to the work place than. Bye FerdiFuchs |

Hi Mummy,
MiniMarshmallow invited us to a marshmallow lunch. We had marshmallow-banana-shashlik with chocolate First the chocolate was melted. Than Katja's daughter showed us how to roast marshmallows over a flame. The shashlik was already looking good ... ... but even much better with a a chocolate topping! Enjoy! Love FerdiFuchs |

Hi Mummy,
we are having lovely weather today - a good opportunity to take a walk in the surroundings of Remscheid. There is a lot of green around, several outskirts are hidden there. Turkeys, chicken ... this is paradise for a fox! Sheep are also tasting good, although they are a bit too large for me WE found the remains of a villa hidden in the forest. The house is no longere there, but those stairs. We walked through a rural area than. We enjoyed the sunshine Back in the valley we found some old mill ponds. This is the creek the valley was named after - Morsbach. From here we had to walk uphill for some time to get back home. Why does my host has to live on top of this damned hill? By the way, I did not meet any magpies this week, who knows where Mrs. Magpie is hiding? Bye Ferdi Fuchs |
olgamaus Posted Oct 21, 2012, 9:53 am |
Hi Mummy,
the weather has gone crazy - we are having sunshine and about 20°C. This was a good reason to make an excursioin to one of the touristic highlights of this reason. Because my host does not have a car, we took a long walk through lovely rural areas and forests to get there. Katja's son accompanied us. We walked to a distrcit in the West of Remscheid and reached this lovely point soon. I saw a cat sneaking towards a bird ... Oh no! A magpie! I called to it "Hey, magpie, fly away, there is a cat behind you! And tell Mrs. Magpie that I am sill searching for her!" We went into the forest than. Oh, what a lovely view, all those golden leafes! We rested on a bench for a moment. This is an extremely large beech - Katja loves this tree. This tree is showing several route markings. The encircled "R" means Roentgenweg. It is following the border of the municipal area of Remscheid, about 62 km long. It is named after the founder of the X-rays who was born in Lennep, one of the historic districts of Remscheid. We simply had to follow our path downhill to the bottom of the valley. River Wupper is flowing in the valley. I saw a cute little outlook pavilion at the opposite side of the valley. Katja told me that you had a spectacular view to our destination from there. We were visiting Muengsten Bridge, Germany's highest railway bridge. It is connecting Remscheid and the neighbour city Solingen, overspanning the valley of the river Wupper. Here it came into sight. The bridge was built of steel in late 19th century, it is 465 m long and 107 m high. You can find more information here, in German. The bridge is so wide that it is nearly impossible to take a proper photo of the whole bridge. Of course our host knows the location where she could take a halfway proper picture. On our way there we had a look at the leisure park which was built under the bridge some years ago. You can find large lawns with benches for relaxing, playgrounds for the kids, a crazy golf course and riddles. We preferred sitting on a bench, enjoying the lovely surrondings and the sunshine. This is river Wupper. Isn't it looking fantastic? We had to walk back home than, uphill for more than an hour! We came along a stadium, construction works were taking place there. Can you see the church tower in the background of the photo? This is where I am living at the moment, another five minutes walk from this church. I will fall into my bed in the evening, my little feet are already hurting . Bye FerdiFuchs |
olgamaus Posted Oct 21, 2012, 10:25 am |
Hi Mummy,
the forest was calling again! This time we took a walk in the outlying districts of the neighbour city Wuppertal. We started our trip in a nearby valley. Katja told us that this path was leading towards a small dam. There were several fish ponds along the way. Soon we reached the dam (Ronsdorfer Talsperre), a really small one. There are information boards along the path, you can learn a lot about wildlife in the forest. Have a look at this board, displaying soil animals. We reached another rural district with horses on the meadows. Another fish pond while we walked back. The weather forecast for tomorrow is also promising Bye FerdiFuchs |

Hi Mummy,
today it was time to say good-bye to Remscheid. Katja showed me where I will go next. She also told me that it would be very warm there, not like autumn here We wrote a postcard for my next host and packed a tiny fridge magnet into my envelope. Now I am on my way to Asia! Let's see if I maybe will find Mrs. Pagpie at the other end of the world. Love FerdiFuchs |

Hi Mummy,
today we met my host's daughter in the city centre. She wanted to buy shoes and later take a walk with us. After buying shoes we walked towards the station. We walked towards a valley, leaving all those industrial complexes behind. Deep in the valley we found older dwellings and allotment gardens. I met this hard-working spider. Back in the city ... Katja told me that we'd had to pack my things because I would leave the next day. She told me that I will travel halfway around the world! Love FerdiFuchs |

This monument is a symbol of Balinese people fight and dissemination of the spirit preservation from generation to generation The architecture of the monument is very unique, taking the shape of Bajra or Genta, a bell that used by Hindu Priests during religious ceremonies Every statue and each carving in the monument compound has its own meaning. Here iam in one of Museum in Bali, called Le Mayeur Museum. Museum Le Mayeur can be found straight on the beach between Jalan Hang Tuah and Inna Grand Bali Beach hotel, one of the largest hotels in Sanur. The museum used to be the former house of the Belgium painter Adrien Jean Le Mayeur de Merpres who arrived in Bali in the 1930’s. First he settled in the little village of Klandis, east of Denpasar where he met the famous legong dancer and local beauty, Ni Polok, when she was 15 years old. She agreed to model for his paintings and lots of the paintings you see today in Museum Le Mayeur feature Ni Polok. Today, Balinese people celebrate "Tumpak Landep" It was an occasion where not only the people, but also the vehicles get dressed and ornated with janur - the young coco leaf - in the form of canang ( small offering), tamiang ( shield) and all sort in any colors and delicate crafting. That's when the Balinese people is having the Tumpak Landep ceremony to honor Sang Hyang Pasupati, the Lord of all metal implements. The blessing ceremony is given to heirlooms, weapons and other metal tools (including car, motorcycle etc ) and prayer is held for magical power and proper function, ensuring a trouble-free period for the next seven months. Dear Mum
Today my host introduced to me about The Music of Bali. The music of Bali is extremely complex and vibrant. The original purpose of music here again is to serve religious beliefs, accompanying dances or wayang theaters. The traditional Balinese orchestra, known as gamelan, is composed of various forms of percussions, with notes overlapping and criss crossing among the various kinds. There is a number of string and woodwind instruments, but most of the players, which can range from a few to several dozen, sit behind various kinds of metallophones, gongs, and xylophones. Each gamelan has its own tuning, preventing instruments from being interchanged from one gamelan to another. Love FF |

Konnichiwa!(Hello!)
I am in the "Landmark plaza" in Yokohama with my host and her son today again. Here, it is many wonderful stores in "Landmark Plaza". We ate delicious lunch here. And We went to Broadcast Library. We can watch the program of the television station in old Japan there. Also, we went Kanagawa Prefectural Museum of Culture History. Though it was regrettable, it was the ban on photography. Today's our big pleasure is "watching Japanese professional baseball games"! My host Yoko got the tickets of this baseball game because Toy voyagers Lil Chopper wanted to see Japanese professional baseball. However, Lil Chopper did not come to Japan... Football is popular in Japan and baseball is also a very popular sport. Yokohama has the professional baseball team "Yokohama BayStars" and Yokohama Stadium. There were enthusiastic Yokohama BayStars fans in Yokohama. However, it was defeated successively five times till today. We watch a game of the Yokohama BayStars and the Nippon-Ham Fighters today. The Nippon-Ham Fighters is the team to which Darvish belonged from 2005 to 2011. He is playing baseball from 2012 in the Texas Rangers(U.S.A.) . The Stadiums were in full swing, isn't it ? My host's son and me shouted the player's name. It was a very amazing Japanese professional baseball game.Yokohama BayStars pulled off an upset to win against Nippon-Ham Fighters from 0-2 to 8-4. Everyone was a pleasure. Kannai Station which has Yokohama Stadium can be seen. You can see Broadcast Library's Japanese very popular drama's postcard and Baseball game ticket and Museum Ticket. It was wonderful day! Cheers, FerdiFuchs |

We went to the Kannonzaki park.
I can see cute little flowers bloomed in the seaside. We have to play with model of black cannon. I was able to see the big ship with binoculars in the park. There was a little Spooky tunnel. Actually ... Kannonzaki Park is a great tourist destination during the day, but the night is very famous as ghost park. I'm afraid, I am not Ghostbusters. You can see the first Western style historical lighthouse in Japan. It has been lit in 1869. Then, broken in the earthquake. And, It was rebuilt in 1923. It was destroyed by earthquake also after six months. This is the lighthouse of the third generation. We greeted the cats living in Kannonzaki park. Meao! Meao! |
