Dear Mom
My first journey in Bali is visit Klungkung, Bali's smallest district located between Gianyar and Karangasem and the famous place there, Kertha Gosa. Klungkung itself is a bustling town. On reaching the town centre. Klungklung was the base of the ancient Javanese Hindu Kingdom in Bali, from where the Balinese royalty of today draws its bloodline. It is the oldest kingdom in Bali, with a most exalted Kings. Kertha Gosa is an old building of jurisdiction and legislation and is one of the main areas in Bali that has been important throughout history in the development of modern Bali. Located within the district of Klungkung in the north of the island and is an excellent and grand old area with amazing history. The words Kertha Gosa mean peaceful announcement which has been the prime focus of the Kertha Gosa throughout history. The inside and outside of the Kertha Gosa and all around it there is some amazing art in the form of paintings and carvings of wood and stone. This is an area unlike the temples of Bali and the feel is very different. Here at the Kertha Gosa the focus is on power and the importance of the legal system as it was here that trials and penalization was carried out. When inside the Kertha Gosa it is easy to feel how it must have been in the old days when the trials and deep discussions on the politics of the area where carried out. The Kertha Gosa is not only of great cultural value but many of the artifacts and artwork that is inside the building has been deemed extremely valuable although obviously it will remain inside. And I also take a picture with modern Indonesian girls. They still using their traditional clothes, called kebaya for attending party or another ceremonial meeting. Love M |

Hello Mum
Yesterday , iam visited Mandala Garuda Wisnu Kencana (GWK), a 240 hectares private cultural park on the Bukit Peninsula at the southern end of the island of Bali in Indonesia, 15 minutes from Ngurah Rai International Airport. Bukit is a limestone plateau with Uluwatu to the west and Nusa Dua to the east. It is devoted to the Hindu god Vishnu, and his mount, Garuda, the mythical bird who is his companion. Garuda Wisnu Kencana is a massive, unfinished statue in Bali that currently exists in pieces. Conceptualized by the Balinese artist Nyoman Nuarta When it's completed, it will be the largest statue in the world. Dominating the park is Wisnu, a bust of a Hindu deity constructed from giants slabs of copper and brass. Representing the divine force responsible for the protection of the universe, the 22 meter Wisnu figure is a modern rendering of an ancient cultural tradition. The companion piece, Garuda, represent the giant bird which transports Wisnu, a symbol of both freedom and selfless devotion I went with RSG Leo, Tica, Krupchen, Capote, Cappucino, and Linda's TV , Basukarna Its a really hot day, the sun hit our skin and made it become more dark. Before we leave the venue, we enjoyed a favorite drink here, a whole young coconut ice With love MooseS |

Dear Mum
Today, we visited, Linda most favorite beach in Bali, Sanur Beach. The tropical atmosphere sweep entire of Sanur Beach that makes it as an ideal place for relaxation. It is also blessed by the breathtaking view of sunrise that one is the fascination for tourist to visit and stay in this place. Almost every Sunday morning or afternoon Linda going here to enjoy the stunning atmosphere. We also, enjoyed Jukung. Jukung or canoe is a small wooden Indonesian boat. It is a traditional fishing boat, but newer uses include "Jukung Dives", using the boat as a vehicle for small groups of SCUBA divers.Essentially of Balinese origin, the double outrigger jukung is but one of many types of Pacific/Asian outrigger canoes that use the crab claw sail traditional throughout Polynesia. Whilst this sail presents some difficulties in tacking into the wind, actually requiring to jibe around, a jukung is superb in its reaching ability and jibe-safe running. They are usually highly decorated and bear a marlin-like prow. Love M |

Today we had a special outing and I got to meet some real Australians this is a gray kangaroo, they come from Kangaroo Island which is off South Australia and they are very used to people, so they don't mind being patted and love being fed!! here this kangaroo is getting a mix of what looks like rabbit food! we got to meet a koala, it was hard to get a photo as she kept turning her head around!! she looks a bit sleepy now! this is a Tasmanian Devil, they got their name from the early settlers who could hear their scream like noises and see just the red tips of their ears in the bush..they must have been frightening! They have a good sense of smell but bad eye sight. Resting koalas! just hanging around!! having a sit with the kangaroos. here is an emu, it liked the food but only ate the corn, nothing else! and here is 28kg of wombat!! They usually sleep in the day and come out at night, this one was woken up for the tour and wanted to go for a walk! now she really wants to go out for a walk!! two more emu's a huge turtle or tortise ( not Australian) I had some instruction on how to use the bathroom in Australia!! Luckily the family came out and helped get Sidney L down!! Phew!! Later he flew by and asked if I wanted to go for a flight.. I was quite happy watching....I didn't want to be swept up into a tree!!! But as it turned up I was a little too heavy and could only have a low level flight, but I did manage to do some spins!! Pretty clever huh!! See me spinning?? Here the taro is being scraped to get the skin off before cooking this is the umu or fire pit, the wood logs have been taken off leaving the hot rocks underneath, leaves are out on the rocks and the food on that then the food is covered with more leaves and it all steams. here the men are preparing taro leaves, which they make into a cup shape, then they pour in coconut milk, wrap it in another leaf and it is ready to go in the fire! Can you see the men's tattoos Mum? They get these as a right of passage into man hood, they are done by other men in the village, take many hours and are extremely painful, it is shameful to the family if the man does not get all the tattooing done. these ladies are making tapa cloth, they start with a thin piece of bark from a special tree and rub it with a stone and water, it is amazing how much it expands...then they dry it and paint of stamp it with wooden carved blocks. Very nice. Here is a finished one Mum! Dutchy and I are going to share lunch Mum!! Boy it is very hot here in the sunshine today!! We have tuna fish cooked in the umu along with sliced taro that tastes like bread and the taro leaves cooked in the coconut milk and that tastes like spinach!! This is part of the farewell dance Mum, really nice, but I will be happy to get out of the sun now!! Love and hugs MooseS xxooxx |

Hi Mum,
It is a beautiful day today so we are helping in the garden! Dutchy tried on the gardening gloves, but they are a little too big!! Later in the evening we had a snack with Chalon because he is going to try and achieve a life mission and sleep out in a tree tonight!! I went out and tucked him in and wished him a good night!! He is a brave TV!! Love and hugs MooseS xxooxx |
||
fleursmum Posted Apr 17, 2014, 8:38 am |
Hi Mum,
Well Chalon did really well. We went out this morning to see how he went and he was awake and had been up but had gone back to bed as it was a bit cold! We had abig chat about his night out in the tree!! You can see there is a little frost this morning! HELLO MUM!! Later we took Tupai for a walk to the park Happily yours MooseS xxooxx |
||
fleursmum Posted Apr 21, 2014, 3:37 am |
Hi Mum,
HAPPY EASTER! We had an Easter egg hunt in the garden this morning and found lots of eggs, we had to make sure we got them before Tupai did!! we thought we found where Easter Bunny had been - he must have caught his tail in the bush!! Happy Easter Mum! We have lots of goodies to munch on!! Later this morning we went to the park, it is very windy today so lots of leaves have blown down some nice bottle brush flowers we had to be careful in the park as the wind is blowing down loads of acorns and they hurt when they hit you on the head!!!! Love and hugs MooseS xxooxx |

We have been in the city for the ANZAC Day march - a day when we remember the people who have been in war, especially those who landed at Gallipoli 99 years ago. No march photos because it was very crowded, but later we had a little look around part of the city. I am getting organised to head back home very soon Mum! Love and hugs MooseS xxooxx |

Hi Mum,
Today Sus's husband heard on the radio that is was SNOWING up at Hanging Rock which is about 25 minutes drive from here, so we leapt in the car and headed off up the freeway. Sadly when we got there it was spitting rain but no snow..someone was , she wanted to see snow!! anyway this is Hanging Rock a collection of very strange rock formations. A movie was based here many years ago called Picnic at hanging Rock. When you walk around here you cansee how people could get lost. We didn't go to the rock as there was a Classic Car show on and many, many people! We drove back over Mount Macedon and later went down the back of the block with Tupai and found these I think the fairies have been here, Mum, or maybe the pixies??? Happily yours MooseS xxooxx |
||

The puzzle is what the people in the picture can see!! Tricky huh!! Sue had some of these when she was young!! I met a very cute poodle Mum!! and I had a chat to this dinosaur!!! Phew Mum I am so excited and tired I am going home for some lunch now. I am aiming to be packed and in the mail heading home to you, by Thursday!! Will let you know! Happily yours MooseS xxooxx |

Mumbling...
...my lollipops are melting I can feel that.. |
||
goomymia Posted Feb 8, 2015, 12:11 pm |
I finally arrived at my host's home.
As a surprise many voyager friends came to welcome me. I was so excited and almost forgot the gifts I brought to them. Thankfully the lollipops were still fine. Hi mum please don't worry about me, I already made new friends here. I'm gonna have an amazing journey in Beijing! MooseS |
||
goomymia Posted Feb 10, 2015, 2:03 pm |
-Sorry but where are we going MooseS?
-I'm not sure, let's just take a stroll around here. -Humm... -Look at that! -Wow a puppy. ... -I reckon we could take a photo here, this map looks very important. -Haha, gotcha! Dear mum, I had a wonderful day with my new friend Eliott, he is from Weymouth, England. And we took a picture with the metro map of Beijing. We both think we will use that map soon. MooseS |
||
goomymia Posted Feb 11, 2015, 5:22 am |
After we came back I found there was a new voyager at home.
Aha, he is a little bear from Germany, his name is Anton. It was so much fun to chat with him. |
||
goomymia Posted Feb 14, 2015, 2:24 pm |
Haha I knew the metro map would be very useful someday.
We were about to explore Tiananmen today. Checking the map carefully I found there is a stop named Tianmen West station on line 1. With no doubt, we got to that station in about 18 mins. I walked through exit C and there was an entrance to the National Center for the Performing Arts! A short visit would be nice. |
||
goomymia Posted Feb 14, 2015, 2:36 pm |
Here I got to the hall of NCPA National Center for the Performing Arts.
That is not short I even can't type the whole name into the 'Place'. Mia told us we are about to meet Amy who will join us for today. But 20 mins' ve passsed, we still haven't seen her yet. We found a place to have a seat and play some games to kill time. Honesly it was quite boring. So we finally decided to take a look at the National Theater. Dear mum, did you see the building behind me? Haha it looks like an egg, doesn't it? The truth is there is no different between each sides of the building, any direction we take photos it would looks like the same egg. MooseS |
||
goomymia Posted Feb 14, 2015, 2:53 pm |
Hi mum, we are sitting in front of the Great Hall of the People.
I've heard we can always see that building on CCTV News 7:00pm every day night. It's a place where holds important meetings inside. All the leaders from other countries would come here if they visit China. The nearest visit from Finland might be our president Sauli Niinisto on April 8, 2013. Here we come! MooseS |
||
goomymia Posted Feb 15, 2015, 1:41 am |
Keeping moving, we saw a traditional architecture called Zhengyangmen.
It used to be a gate in Beijing's historic city wall and was built in 1419 Ming Dynasty. The 'mén' here means gate in chinese. We will move closer to have a look at it later. The building which looks like a box in the second photo is Chairman Mao Memorial Hall. Mia said it used to be a gate of the Forbidden City at that location long times ago. |
||
goomymia Posted Feb 15, 2015, 1:50 am |
Did you see the Zhengyangmen over there?
Walked along a long underpass we finally arrived at the Tiananmen Square. If we walk through Zhengyangmen to south we will be on the Qianmen Street. That street is a quite famous commercial street in history, it still is right now. Turn to north and west we can see the monument to the people's heroes and Tiananmen. The last photo is National Museum. |
||
goomymia Posted Feb 15, 2015, 1:58 am |
Dear mum, something isn't going that well today.
We were about to visit the National Museum which has lots of antiques inside. Our companion Amy realized she forgot her ID at home when we got to the entrance. That's not good news. The guard won't let us in without ID card, so we can just change the plan. At least we captured these dragon heads. MooseS |
||
goomymia Posted Feb 15, 2015, 2:14 am |
Next Station: Tiananmen tower.
We spent a lot of time to cross the Changan Ave through underpass. In underpass we needed to wait in line to pass the security check. Haha but it was worth waiting. Here I'm standing in the middle of Beijing. |
||
goomymia Posted Feb 15, 2015, 2:23 am |
We can't visit the Natinal Museum today, so we decided to have a look at corner tower.
The first photo is the National Theater we just visited, do you think it looks like a giant metal egg? MooseS |
||
goomymia Posted Feb 15, 2015, 2:30 am |
Hi mum, I walked along the Changan Ave and then turned right to the Beichangjie.
(jie means street in Chinese) I saw this gorgeous building at the east side of the street! The tablet on the wall indicates that this is a very valuable historic site. Unfortunately I can't visit inside, it looks like a government site not open to the public. MooseS |
||
goomymia Posted Feb 15, 2015, 2:34 am |
I took the bottom photo when I was waiting for the traffic lights.
The white tower behind me is White Dagoba on Qionghua Island in Beihai Park. It's a buddhist building which was built to honour the visit of the 5th Dalai Lama in 1651. Maybe I could move closer to have a look at it next time. Now we have to keep moving. |
||
goomymia Posted Feb 15, 2015, 2:42 am |
Yay! We finally made it to the corner tower!
Mia said it is the northwest corner tower of the Forbidden City. There are four of them in total. I suggested to take a photo together. Haha we love that photo! Here are some info about corner towers:
|
||
goomymia Posted Feb 15, 2015, 2:49 am |
After the corner tower I went to the northern gate of the Forbidden City.
There is a hill nearby the gate, which is called Jingshan. ('shan' means mountains) We could have a birds' eye view to see further of inner Beijing on the top of Jishan. But we were going to catch a bus to get to the Gulou, so we could climb that hill next time. Some info about the Gate of Divine Might:
|
||
goomymia Posted Feb 15, 2015, 2:53 am |
I took a very quick snapshot with a lovely newsstand before we got on the bus.
There were an awful lot of passengers on bus No. 5. Seriously I can hardly breath! |
||
goomymia Posted Feb 15, 2015, 3:02 am |
Oh fresh air!
Getting off the bus I saw a street sign reads Dianmenwai dajie. Dolly introduced the Gulou to us, she has been here a couple of times already. The red building is Gulou. It was originally built in the 1270s by the Yuan Dynasty. Relocated and reconstructed in the 1420s by the Ming Dynasty. Hi mum, I also took a look at Zhonglou behind Gulou. It looks smaller than Gulou and the basic color of it is grey. The photo is too bright. Wow...we went many sightseeing today! MooseS |
||
goomymia Posted Feb 15, 2015, 3:11 am |
Dear mum,
I found myself in a Hutong area. The red sign on the wall indicates here is Dashibei Hutong.There is a Xiaoshibei Hutong nearby. These two hutongs used to be a whole one called Shibei Hutong and they were separated at the beginning of 1900s. The longer one's turned to be Dashibei Hutong since then. MooseS |
||
goomymia Posted Feb 15, 2015, 3:17 am |
Hi mum, here we arrived at Shichahai.
'Hai' is the sea in Chinese, but it is actually a big lake consisting of three lakes to the north of the Forbidden City, another historic site on the top of must visit in Beijing list. Mia said she usually go skating here in winter when the lake is frozen. It would be a lot of fun! I heard my heart break when I saw the lake. It's not frozen yet or it started unfreezing. Ok it's true that the winter here is quite warm. You see today is up to 12c, spring is coming! It means green, bees and tons and tons of flowers. I can actually take more colorful photos, you know winter is a bit pale without snowing. The second photo is me on Yinding Bridge. MooseS |
||
goomymia Posted Feb 15, 2015, 3:49 am |
That's all my adventures for today.
The sun rush to go home, I think it is time for me to go home too. Here is a photo I took when I was waiting for the subway. Dear mum, please don't worry about me. The weather here is good, although I'm looking farward to snowing. The food is fantastic, all I need is learning how to use chopsticks. MooseS |
||
goomymia Posted Feb 16, 2015, 11:56 pm |
Happy birthday Eliott!
goomymia Posted Feb 19, 2015, 4:52 am |
I got an invitation. I can visit Simão IV for a couple of days.
How excited! We will celebrate Chinese Lunar New Year together! You know I didn't meet him before. I know his brother Simão III quite well. Dear mum, after I met Simão I should say he is a really nice orangutan! He showed me around his home. I saw a beautiful brush calligraphy. MooseS |
||
goomymia Posted Feb 19, 2015, 11:35 am |
I smelt something nice, and then I found myself at a kitchen.
Simão's grand was preparing for the Chinese New Year Eve's feast! Scrumptious...I remember I should be a vegetarian but these fish looks so great! |
||
goomymia Posted Feb 20, 2015, 6:23 am |
Eliott said he saw Prince William on news, then I saw President Sauli Niinistö!
He was talking about the Chinese Lunar New Year...greetings from Finland. The Spring Festival Gala started at 8:00pm, I sat in front of the telly with my friends. MooseS |
||
goomymia Posted Feb 20, 2015, 2:40 pm |
Dear mum, I saw very beautiful fireworks tonight.
Look how gorgeous they were! |
||
goomymia Posted Feb 21, 2015, 11:37 am |
Anton woke me up in the morning, it was just 7:00, so early!
I really want to sleep, please just give me 10 more minutes... What? Who Said Making Dumpling? Then I got up as fast as I can...ummm...it's still a little dark outside. ... Honestly I'm only half awake...better to get back to sleep...yawn... |
||
goomymia Posted Feb 21, 2015, 11:42 am |
OH MY GOD MOOSE...guys you should come and look!
goomymia Posted Feb 21, 2015, 11:58 am |
I looked outside through the window this morning. It was snowing!
Dear mum, I was really excited and can't wait to build a snowman! Wow, that's the building where I'm staying at right now, it's higher than I thought. When I just about to climb a tree Anton called me to play seesaw with him. I was wondering why I was always on the down side... Do you think I need to lose weight mum? MooseS |
||
goomymia Posted Feb 21, 2015, 12:08 pm |
We agree Eliott is the heaviest one, he decided to sit in the middle to balance the seesaw.
'I really need to find a nice place to build a snowman' I thought, 'the higher you are the further you see.' |
||
goomymia Posted Feb 21, 2015, 12:22 pm |
I got a bird's eye view on the tree and discovered a perfect place to build a snowman. When we reached the ground, we can't help ourselves making snow angels! The snow was really soft It was so much fun!
The snow fight began with Crabs' hat. Actually Crabs made a snow ball and threw it right on Dancing Dolly's head and he said 'look Dolly, I made a snow hat for you.' Then the snow war started... |
||
goomymia Posted Feb 21, 2015, 12:42 pm |
What a wonderful day I have!
Take a group photo for today would be fantastic. |
||
goomymia Posted Mar 2, 2015, 6:53 am |
I went to a street called Yandaixiejie and I found an unique Postoffice.
It has a real mail box and a statue of a boy in Qing Dynasty at the entrance. It looks like a historic site, I will go inside to take a look. |
||
goomymia Posted Mar 2, 2015, 6:58 am |
Here I got to the postoffice which is called Daqing Postoffice.
Umm...It's actually a retro site looks like the postoffice more than 100 years ago. Dear mum, I saw some unique stamp marks people used to use before in Qing Dynasty. I heard we are about to go visit a secret voyager and spend Chinese New Year together. That will be a lot of fun! |
||
goomymia Posted Mar 2, 2015, 7:05 am |
I'm still at Simão's home, I saw very beautiful flowers today.
Look at how gorgeous they are! MooseS |
||
goomymia Posted Mar 2, 2015, 7:08 am |
We were looking for the interesting book to read.
I also met some new friends today. |
||
goomymia Posted Mar 2, 2015, 7:17 am |
So sad this is my last day at Simão IV's home, we are going to leave after lunch.
We decided to do some morning reading. Dancing Dolly found a book about America on shelf. The title of the book is 'Greetings from the 50 States, How They Got Their Names.' Haha, It's about Dolly's homeland and we also found her home state: South Carolina on the map. |
||
goomymia Posted Mar 2, 2015, 7:29 am |
Dear mum, today we went to a restaurant to farewell with Dolly and GiGi.
Mia ordered 'Tofu with Preserved Eggs'. She loves that dish so much, every time we went to a restaurant together, she would definitely have one if they serve it. We also ordered 'Beijing Noodles with Soybean Paste'. Humm..very tasty. I brought my lollipops to share, can't believe we keep them till today, haha. MooseS |
||
goomymia Posted Mar 2, 2015, 7:33 am |
Safe trip my friends Dancing Dolly and GiGi Giraffe.
goomymia Posted Mar 8, 2015, 4:12 am |
Dear mum, today is a very nice day, we decided to visit a famous temple.
It is located in western mountains of Beijing. Here are some pictures I took on the road. When we got to the entrance, I checked the site map first.. Aha..it seems we will see a lot of halls today. Did you see the turtle on the photo below? He is Slowly-Slowly, my new friend just arrived today. MooseS |
||
goomymia Posted Mar 8, 2015, 4:19 am |
Here is the first hall of Tanzhe Temple.
Wow Tanzhe Temple was built in 307 AD over 1,700 years ago! That's pretty cool! People said this temple is older than Beijing city. I also saw some typical Buddhist stuff...they like golden color I guess. |
||
goomymia Posted Mar 8, 2015, 4:25 am |
Heading to the north, we arrived at the Mahavira Hall.
Honestly I know nothing about Buddhist temple. I bet you can hardly find a Buddhist temple like this in my hometown, Finland. It seems that every temple should have a Mahavira Hall as the center building |
||
goomymia Posted Mar 8, 2015, 4:31 am |
Hi mum, the photo below is the Relic Stupa of Huayan.
Huayan founded Tanzhe Temple thousands years ago. Mia told me a legend about him. Once upon a time, Huanyan was riding a dragon traveling around the world. One day, he found a prefect place in mountains to build a monastery. But he also saw 9 dragons were living there who seemed in charge of this beautiful area. Dragons are well known as their bad tempers. Huayan saw a black dragon producing water and having fun himself in a deep lake. He spent some time observing the black dragon and saw him transformed to a beauty tricked villagers who came begging for rain. By the way it was so dry as a deserted place down there not far from those dragons. Huayan can't stand this anymore, he tried to negotiate with the black dragon but failed. Ummm...then came the fight. Yes Huayan beat the black dragon. The black dragon promised to make it rain and safe the village, he even turned to be the decoration on the roof of Mahavira Hall after the project completion. Well dragons are dragons, how boring it would be to merely stay on the roof. The black dragon planed to escape at a thundery night. Unfortunately he was caught by Kangxi Emperor who was just about to visit the temple. The Emperor gave order to add an extra structure on the roof of Mahavira Hall to chain the dragon. Oh poor guy, I just saw him on the roof! I should have talked to him to comfort him. MooseS |
||
goomymia Posted Mar 8, 2015, 4:37 am |
Did you see that?
Magnolias are ready to bloom. Aha! Spring is coming! We took a rest beside the bamboo forest. The last pic is a dragon I found today. I reckon this kind of decoration shows that Emperors always came here long time ago. You should come here if you visit Beijing mum. MooseS |

Dear mum, here are some photos I took on Qianmen Street.
Remember last time I went to Tiananmen Square? It's not far from Qianmen. People come here to buy souvenirs, clothes, jewelry. I saw H&M and Swatch on the street. Ummm....and Starbucks. Of course on this street you can also find most of Beijing food you've heard. Like Beijing Duck, Beijing Noodles...and all kinds of snacks! Amazing right? Sorry if I'm being too excited, the point is Simão IV also came today! Ahaha.. MooseS |

Wow, their pig elbow souce recipe was classified as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of the nation in 2008. We also took a group photo in front of a Teahouse. |

I saw a big menu, some old posters and a fancy moped. |

The People's Bank of China, they print RMB 5. A building about telephone 6. Industrial & Commercial Bank of China 7. Another bank 8. Xidan, a shopping area 9. Today I went to Capital Museum with Rocky Raccoon.
Last time we just passed by the museum didn't go inside when we rode bicycle along the Changan Ave. Different from the National Museum, the building of Capital Museum is more simple, looks like a modern architecture. This museum opened to the public on May 18th 2008, it covers 24,800 square meters and houses more than 200,000 collections. The former National Museum was located in the Confucius Temple and formally opened to the public in 1981. We went to B1 first, there was a special exhibition about goat, because this year is goat year. I saw the goat stamps of 2015 and the first Chinese Zodiacs stamps which were published in 1991. Wow that is a bronze ware from Shang Dynasty, over 3000 years old! And these two tiny goats are from Han Dynasty, means they are about 1800 years old. Haha old as a legend. You see that two men riding goats? They are Buddha's protectors. And that Buddha whose back towards us is Mercy Buddha...ummm...let us see his face. They are from Qing Dynesty. |
||
goomymia Posted Mar 19, 2015, 8:24 am |
I also saw an exhibition about water, more specific it introduced the South-to-North Water Diversion Project.
That is a underground model of Wukesong, where is quite close to my host's home. And that pipe is huge! After the water pipe exhibition, I saw some random antiques, more bronzes, potteries and..wow.. look! A photo of Tanzhe Temple, I just visited there! And antique furnitures, a sword with pattern of Triones under X-ray, some gold Buddhas, old coins, an ancient Astronomical Instrument! That is rare, a Cross of Yuan Dynasty. Look at these hats with gold dragons, emperors would wear them in Ming Dynasty. Wow that red coat is so exquisite, the dragons and children are shiny! It's supposed to have 100 children on it? Can you find half of them on the photo? Ummm..that is Shichahai, following with a model of an old town according to the painting. Interesting Chinese lady in western clothes and a foreign lady in Qing dress. Some newspapers about Chairman Mao and some old stuff were used at Tiananmen on National Day, 1949. Chairman Mao spoke into that microphone claimed that The People's Republic of China was founded. |

I was wandering at the exhibition Cambodian Ancient Cultural Relics and Arts.
Wow...they have elephant Buddha in Cambodia, I should call Eliott to come visit here. I also saw the character Garuda from 'Night at the Museum 3' ! Haha he is a funny guy in the movie, but a bit serious at museum. Look! That's the snake with five heads! Who was beaten by Larry using taser gun in movie. |
||
goomymia Posted Mar 20, 2015, 8:34 am |
Here we got to an exhibition about Chinese porcelain.
A model showing the process of how to produce porcelain. Then we arrived at the top floor of the museum. I saw a lot of traditional Beijing stuff for birthday and wedding. That old photo looks familiar to me, I feel like I've seen that building... ..Aha it is Qianmen Street! I've been there! It seems that building has never changed, while people's outfits are totally different. I finally took a look at the Changan Ave before leave. |
||
goomymia Posted Mar 26, 2015, 1:26 am |
Dear mum, I woke up this morning and looked out the window. The sky was SO BLUE!
Anton Bär Slowly-Slowly Eliott and I decided to take a walk outside. Before that we needed to find a place to have breakfast. Well it was a late breakfast, cause it was almost 11:00 when we got to the restaurant. After the meal we stood on the higher place to see further. "Look! There is a bus stop down there. Why don't we have a bus trip?" I suggested. We finally got on the Bus No.1 which is running along the Changan Ave... Did you see the flowers on the photos? Yay.. SPRING IS COMING! MooseS |

We drove to the 11th International Conference on Green and Energy-Efficient Building & New Technologies and Products Expo. How long the title is..Lol
We passed by many bridges on the road and one of them is Xizhimen Bridge. I saw 3 egg shaped buildings in a row. The Expo was held at China National Convention Center, very close to the Olympic Park. The presenter was giving a lecture on how to build an environmental friendly city. Umm..interesting but a bit too professional. Why don't we go out to see the Bird's Nest? |
||
goomymia Posted Apr 2, 2015, 1:53 pm |
Here I finally got to the Olympic Park. The 2008 Beijing Olympic Games was held there.
It was so much fun to take a walk at the Olympic Park. Especially with my friends Simão IV Rocky Raccoon Eliott Anton Bär Cherry Lola and Slowly-Slowly. Besides Birds' Nest and Water Cube, there are some lovely sculptures are waiting to be found at the park. Many people were doing exercise, like roller skating. |

I'm okay now, you know I slept too much, felt like a kind of hibernation.
Today is our 2nd day in Suzhou, we'll take a walk on Guanqian Street. The street is located in Suzhou city centre, the commercial part of the city. Haha, sounds a bit like Qianmen Street of Beijing, doesn't it? There is a really beautiful historic site on the street which is Xuanmiao Temple, amazing building.

There are so many different type of restaurant on Guanqian Street. You see, that is a big M, they're everywhere around the world, sure not for MooseS. We finally made a deal to have lunch at Zhuhongxing which is recommended by the Lonely Planet Travel Guide.
Zhuhongxing is one of the Suzhou's most popular noodle joints, this long-standing canteen style place serves some scrummy and filling noodles. Emm..noodles. Mia said she's trying hard to be a vegetarian but she can't give up duck and lamb, look she ordered duck rice with sweet sour sauce this time. |

I did see some interesting antiques at the exhibition of porcelain. Haha that baby boy pillow is awesome!!! I've seen the porcelain pillow when I was visiting the Capital Museum, still can't believe people can sleep on it. And that deer vase is gorgeous! |

We also had a lot of fun exploring Pingtan Museum.
Pingtan created by the work of the Pingtan artists which enjoys great popularity in Jiangnan. The long history has also laid a solid foundation for its development. Its contents are rich, though the form is simple. "story telling, joke cracking, music playing and aria singing" are the performing techniques, while "reasoning, tastes, unexpectedness, interest and minuteness" are the artistic features. Although it originated in Suzhou 400 years ago, Pingtan flourished in Shanghai with the development of commerce and culture at the turn of the 19th century and 20th century. After that, Pingtan became a new form of performance by innovating and carrying on the tradition. Look! A piece of old Shanghai newspaper talking about Pingtan. Mia just bought a new dress on Pingjiang Road, she tried to be more like a Suzhouer. |

It used to be the capital of China in Southern Song Dynasty.

Dear mum,
Suzhou is well known for its gardens, today I went to the most famous one which is The Humble Administrator's Garden. The garden is located at n°178 Dongbei Street. At 51,950 m2, it is the largest garden in Suzhou and is considered by some to be the finest garden in all of southern China. In 1997, Zhuozheng Yuan, along with other classical gardens of Suzhou was proclaimed a UNESCO World Heritage Site. I literally enjoy chilling on the roof to appreciate the beauty of the garden. And those flowers are just so pretty!!! MooseS |

Well Slowly-Slowly doesnt't mind slowly. Mia noticed the train would take so long when she was booking the tickets for us, she was curious if she can survive. Then she went back home told us with a smile on her face,
" Surprise surprise! We are going to Suzhou! Umm..and we will spend about 18 hours together on the train. Trust me, it's gonna be an unforgettable holiday..ever!!!" Haha... We arrived in Suzhou in one piece, Mia apologized and promised to take the fastest bullet train back home, ummm..It'll only take 5 hours. Here are some info about this georgous city
