A few days ago, I left my owner and homeland in search of adventure. I arrived at my first stop on the "USATVT" this afternoon.
This is me after I finally got out of my envlope. (I still don't believe that it's the only way to travel!) I didn't even know where I was until Silverwings and her brother explained the USATVT to me and told me that I was in Texas. Here I am wearing the traditional Texas cowboy hat. Silverwings also showed me a Texas flag. I think that I'm going to like traveling! |

This morning I helped Silverwings' brother with his school work. He's pretty good at science, so I didn't have to poke him very often. (Just kidding, I didn't poke him at all.)

Then I went with Silverwings and her father to Floydada. It's the county seat of Floyd county (Big supprise there, don't you think?) and is 15 whole miles from where Silverwings and her family live. I think that's a very long way.
I got to meet one of the *gasp* lawyers in Floydada. (Don't worry about me, she is a nice lawyer and a friend of Silverwings' parents. We were there so she and Silverwings' dad could talk for an hour with no apperent reason. ) She has her office decorated with a lot of Native American stuff. There's even a totem pole in there! Here are some pictures of me with the totem pole: I also got to meet her secretary and sit on her desk. I was supprised to find that there were a lot of other toys in the lawyer's office. They were all the very essence of small town hospitality and let me pose for a picture with them. After we finally left the lawyer's office, we had lunch and went back to Silverwings' house. |

When we got home, I settled down for a nap on this cute, and very comfy, animal throw-pillow.
I was then informed by Silverwings' brother that the throw-pillow was in fact his dog, Buddy. Fortunatly, Buddy does not seem to be agressive toward toyvoyagers, so I was perfectly safe. (That and he didn't wake up for a long time.) I then played several games of chess with him. (Not the dog, the boy.) I seem to have a natural talent for chess, as I won every game! |

I also did some baking today.
Mmm, orange flavored cinnimon rolls! |

We (Silverwings, her brother and Buddy) went on a walk this afternoon.
After a while, I noticed some strange holes in the ground. Silverwings' brother let me sit on his boot so I could look at them without getting dirty. Upon closer inspection, they seemed to be the tracks of a monster! It had to have been a big monster, too, because the tracks were bigger than me! I was realy quite frightened at the idea of possibly meeting the monster who had made the tracks. |
Silverwings katie.rh@door.net Posted May 4, 2007, 10:20 pm |
I was shaking all over with fear because of the tracks when they explained to me that the "monster tracks" were actualy........COW TRACKS!!!
(It turns out that cows have very big feet and when they step in the mud they leave tracks that can easily be mistaken for the tracks of a giant frog-eating-monster.) Silverwings then introduced me to some of her family's cows. The huge cow closest to me in the next picture is the "lead cow". She is the boss of all the other cows. According to Silverwings, some days the cows never leave the lot just because the lead cow won't go out! She says that their cows are tame and would never think about eating me, but I stayed behind the fence anyway. |

After I met the cows, I got to see some more of the farm.
This building is where they keep all of the cottenseed that the cows eat. Silverwings says that I might get to help feed some to the cows before I leave, but I'm still not sure if I like cows. (They are rather large....) Here I am sitting on the seat of an old tractor. It's the oldest tractor on the farm that still runs, and some of the newer ones don't!!!! I didn't get to drive it, though. In this picture, I am sitting on a plow. |
Silverwings katie.rh@door.net Posted May 4, 2007, 10:57 pm |
We walked down the road after I got to see the plow.
I borrowed Silverwings' hat for this picture. That's Dougherty in the background, by the way. I got tired after walking so much, so Buddy let me ride on his back for a while. He started running around after rabbits soon after that, so Silverwings' brother let me ride in his pocket. He has very deep pockets with lots of things inside (besides me). Like these sunglasses, for example. The name's Frog.... ....Orked Frog. (He he he. ) There were also some car keys in his pocket. (I wonder what they go to.) And a wallet. With lots... and lots of money in it! |

I also got to see a real "West Texas Sunset". (Silverwings' brother is also in these pictures.)
All in all, it was a very good day. |

Another toyvoyager arrived today. Her name is Roo. (You might guess that she is a kangaroo.)
The next picture is one of us being a bit silly. |
Silverwings katie.rh@door.net Posted May 21, 2007, 7:00 pm |
Here are some more pictures of me and Roo.
In this picture, we are playing leapfrog. (This was Roo's idea, not mine) Here we are staring at the computer when the internet wasn't working. |

I'm having Silverwings post these pictures for me. In the first one I am getting ready to go to my next destination (California with suefitz). The second one was taken as I was entering my travelling compartment.
I've had a wonderfull time in Texas! And now....California here I come!!! |
