But now I realize - my soul asked for travels! Of course I don`t like the idea to use tiny boxes and envelopes but if I have no choice... So the main my aim is to become more optimistic and not so cynical.

Russian people celebrate New year as you celebrate Christmas - give presents to each other and decorate fir. We will celebrate Christmas on 7th of January and it will be holiday only for religious people. You can see me with very small tree which is situated in Maria`s room. The big one is in the room for guests. We had New year dinner and party. Now we have 10 days of holidays and all people continue to celebrate and I`m waiting the post-office to be opened, because I`m going to Romania!  Hope you had great party guys. Red Navel.

Andrei picked me from the post office and got me to my new home Andrei likes the postcard very much and thanks you mommy Here we have snow but i don't know for how long because it's sunny outside I met another toyvoyager, Rufus. He's nice and showed me the house and told me things about this city. I can't wait to visit it and hope i'll make some nice pictures. andlclb Posted Jan 28, 2010, 6:26 pm	Hello everybody. Sorry for not posting but i haven't travelled so much lately. Here is very cold and can't go out much. But even with this cold i went to a boardgamers meet where i played a nice game called Risk. It's very interesting and you learn lots of things. For me it was so easy that i beat everybody even i didn't know how to play it  Rufus was there too. He assisted me while i was winning the game After that nice meeting we went outside and played with snow. It was fresh, soft snow This weekend i hope i'll go and see the city a little  See you soon, Red Navel

This things are offered to womens on March 1st It was really nice and helped a little. andlclb Posted Mar 9, 2010, 12:02 pm	Hi there! It's been a while since i updated my travelog. Andrei is very sorry about this and hopes he'll do more updates and nice photos. The weather here has been pretty bad, cold, ugly, snowing but not enough to play with it... So no way to go out and enhoy the city. Anyway a few days ago has been sunny and nice and we went with the bike outside but not for long...the bike got a flat tire But we managed to visit the largest building in Romania, actually the 2nd largest building in the world...it is huge After that we took a walk in the park and played some songs on the guitar Here it's me and ThomasHH Andrei promises that this spring...wait this spring it's snowing...so let's say this month he'll do more photos See you soon, Red Navel

I had no chance to talk to her long about her Hong Kong journey, because she should go to Germany the same day. I went to the post to accompany her and made the photo near very interesting building. Quote: The Lubyanka is the popular name for the headquarters of the KGB and affiliated prison on Lubyanka Square in Moscow. It is a large building with a facade of yellow brick, designed by Alexander V. Ivanov in 1897 and augmented by Aleksey Shchusev in 1940-1947. The Lubyanka was originally built in 1898 as the Neo-Baroque headquarters of the All-Russia Insurance Company, noted for its beautiful parquet floors and pale green walls. Belying its massiveness, the edifice avoids an impression of heroic scale: isolated Palladian and Baroque details, such as the minute pediments over the corner bays and the central loggia, are lost in an endlessly-repeating classicizing palace facade, where three bands of cornices emphasize the horizontal lines. You can see my house, it is not a villa, but big enough for me. At my village I can sit in my chair, reading magazines and not caring about my look In the evening I had a potato-supper with some whiskey  and then a pleasant time with my friends. It is a pity that week-end is so short!

It turned out that they were the TVs staying here: Dean, Etwas and Spooky are guests like me, while sammino is a stay at home TV. It seems that they all very much appreciated the goodies I brought with me .

He brough over some lovely cereal bars and a flower chain in the German colours to cheer on Germany at the football world cup.....I wonder what smaug will have to say about that .
smaug Posted Jun 27, 2010, 9:33 pm	Hi Mum, Today seemed to be a nice day so we went for a walk on the mountains. On the way to the trailhead we got pelted with rain and hail , but once we parked the car it was nice and sunny and the view was wonderful . As we went up the weather started turning ugly. Here we got a view of our destination for the day. Unfortunately we couldn’t take any photo from the top as it started raining heavily, or was it snow ? On the way down we met Landroval one of smaug’s TVs who is spending some time on the Rockies. sammino told him that there is a nice host  waiting for him in the States, so he said goodbye to us, grabbed our lunch and just flew away.

smaug Posted Jul 10, 2010, 4:42 am	Hi Mum, Today we were going for a trip on the mountains but, on the way, smaug noticed that there was something wrong with the car: we got a punctured tyre ! Of course we decided to change it with the spare tyre all by ourselves . Smaug said that we need to get a bit faster if we want to join a F1 pit crew , but I think we were great . Too bad we had to come back to Calgary and get the tyre fixed, so the trip to the mountains was very short .
smaug Posted Jul 11, 2010, 2:24 am	Hi Mum, Today we went for a hike near Lake Louise to a mountain called Fairview Mt., so we hoped to find a nice view . And actually it was nice indeed .  Here we were resting after reaching the top. Then I took a look around. That is Mount Victoria... ...here is the Bow Valley Looking north... ...Mt. Temple just in front of us... ...and that down there is Lake Louise. Leaning out from a ledge we could see the Saddleback from where we passed on our way up . On the way down we asked smaug to let us play a bit in the snow. How often can you play in the snow in July ?!
smaug Posted Jul 11, 2010, 4:34 am	Hi Mum, Today sammino disappeared for a few hours and when he got home he brought two new guests with him : HolgiHH, a nice donkey from Germany and Krystal, one of smaug’s TVs who will stay here a few days on Holiday. Of course we all gave them a warm welcome .
smaug Posted Jul 24, 2010, 6:39 am	Hi Mum! Today the weather was horrible so we just went for a short walk in downtown Calgary. Luckily it’s Stampede time, so there are plenty of places where you can snatch a free pancake breakfast around town . We found one where we could even stop eating indoor Calgary has the world most extensive pedestrian skywalk system, so you can explore several kilometres of downtown without ever going outdoor. Here I was on a bridge with the Calgary Tower in the background. Eventually we tried to go outside, but not for long . We found some shelter in this big shopping center until it was time to go home. The great thing of being a Toyvoyager is that, even when the sky started dropping golf-ball size hailstones on the head of our host, we were safely hidden in a rucksack .
smaug Posted Jul 25, 2010, 3:23 pm	Hi Mum! Today we went visiting the Stampede Park ! First we got ready for the day with a filling breakfast. Krystal, HolgiHH and Sigfrido brought some delicious chocolate Madeleines from France that we quickly ate . Just to be sure not to run short of energy we got also some bread and nutella . On the way to the stampede park we passed through this nice park. Eventually we arrived at our destination. First we checked out the Stampede Market where we found some nice “western” corners. There was even plenty of straw to play with... Then we played cowtoyvoyagers with  this saddle. We also found a chuckwagon... Later we explored a bit the park. On the way home we decided to get some typical food found in every cattle ranch: cowboy popcorns ! Delicious .
smaug Posted Jul 29, 2010, 4:59 am	Hi Mum, Today the weather was gorgeous, so we went for another walk in downtown Calgary . On the way we took a picture of some of the skyscrapers. Later we grabbed another free pancake breakfast...why isn’t  it always stampede time ? Once we had a full belly , we went visiting the Calgary Tower. It might not be so obvious in the photos , but the view was great !
smaug Posted Jul 31, 2010, 6:05 am	Hi Mum! Today we went visiting Banff . Here we were comfortably settled in the car. The drive was a bit long, but eventually we arrived close to our destination... ...and entered town. We spent most of the day dodging showers , but we managed to walk a bit along the River Bow without getting too drenched. Here you can see the Bow falls . Later we got a glimpse of the Banff Springs Hotel, one of the most luxurious resorts of the Rockies . Eventually it was time to go back home. On the road we got a bit scared when we saw a truck driving the wrong way on the highway towards us ... ...but it was just being towed .
smaug Posted Jul 31, 2010, 3:40 pm	Hi Mum! Today we went visiting the Dinosaur Provincial Park: we were very excited at the idea of meeting a T-Rex strolling on the road . The drive was long and a bit boring, so we spent most of the time chatting. We also stopped to take a couple of pictures at the prairies. Eventually we reached dour destination . Here the prairies are carved deeply by the Red Deer River and its tributaries, so there are plenty of these deep gorges with luscious vegetation at the bottom. At some points the landscape turns quite “lunar” . Disappointingly, we didn’t meet any dinosaur walking around , just a lot of information panels describing all the different skeletons (an awful lot apparently) that were dug out in this area.

smaug Posted Aug 5, 2010, 4:38 am	Hi Mum, This week end we are in Jasper and today we immediately explored a bit around the town . First we jumped on the Jasper Tramway that took us up a mountain with a lovely view of the valley. With a short walk we reached the top of a nearby mountain called The Whistlers, and the view was even better . This peak is called The Whistlers because of the sheer number of Whistling Marmots living here. They didn’t seem to inclined to take a photo a with us , but we managed to at least take a decent shot of one of them. Later we moved a bit on the side of the peak to enjoy more views. Here you can see Jasper again with the Upper Station of the Jasper Tramway... ...and here is the ridge that we walked on to get o the top . From the opposite side of the mountain we could see in the haze the Athabasca Valley, with the Athabasca River being that silver ribbon on the valley floor. What a great day !
smaug Posted Aug 8, 2010, 1:01 am	Hi Mum, Today we were supposed to visit a glacier, but the weather had other plans so after trying to reach it and getting drenched in the process we had to change destination. So we checked out a little lake near Jasper town called Lake Annette. Nice place, and it wasn’t raining . In the background you can see a green space. There was actually a beach there with someone swimming in the lake, crazy people ! Back to our hotel we gathered some wood... ...and decided to use the fireplace . Unfortunately smaug said that the room was already warm enough and we just have to chat imagining to sit in front of a fire .

smaug Posted Aug 24, 2010, 5:01 am	Hi Mum! smaug has to work for a couple of weeks in the Vancouver area, and we TVs came along .  First thing we did as we arrived was to explore the hotel room. There is a big television... ...an (empty ) fridge... ...and a tiny microwave oven. Well, I am not sure about the waves, but the oven is micro indeed . As we overheard smaug saying something about microwaved TVs for dinner , we quickly scrambled out of it and found a nice place where to spend the evening chatting...with some supplies close at hand .
smaug Posted Aug 31, 2010, 5:06 am	Hi Mum! Today we had a chance to get a very quick glimpse of Vancouver . Here we were just out of the sky train station looking at North Vancouver across Burrard Inlet. While here you can see Lions Gate Bridge behind me. Unfortunately smaug was a bit busy for the rest of the day and we were forgotten in his bag , maybe another time we'll see a bit more .
smaug Posted Sep 1, 2010, 5:27 am	Hi Mum, Today the weather wasn’t very nice, but we tried to take a walk around Burnaby anyway. So, we discovered that we are close to the western end of the Trans Canada Trail . Although we all agreed that more than 11,000km to get to Newfoundland seemed a bit too much even taking a few “shortcuts”, smaug pointed out that the trail is kind of exploring the country and so wanders around a lot, rather than crossing all the way to the east with a direct route, mah . Between the trees we could occasionally see Burrard Inlet with some dockyards and the mountains north of Vancouver in the background . And here our exploration was cut short by the rain that started falling down rather heavily .

iloveletters Posted Sep 10, 2010, 11:31 am	Dear Mommy! Today I arrived in Germany, more exactly in the village Mechterstädt in Thuringia. Only about 1000 people live here. My last host was so nice to include a card and magnet of Canada! Straight after exiting the box I met the house cat - Pünktchen. She hugged and cuddled me ! I think I will have a great time!
iloveletters Posted Sep 10, 2010, 11:37 am	Today I had a look round the house where I am staying. This is the office / study where the pc is and where the updates to the travellog are being made. This is the guest bedroom for me to stay We went to the kitchen to cook lunch. This is what we had: pasta with cream and spinach. Yummy! Then we went outside to the car and took this picture with the house  and garden where I stay. And now we just returned from shopping at the supermarket.
iloveletters Posted Sep 12, 2010, 4:14 pm	Today was a great day out because my host's choirs took part in a choir meeting. So we started early to get to the village of Ballstädt, about 20 km away. Many people had already assembled on the main square. Here is the choir 'NoBorders' - and me - right in the middle. Can you see me mom? Then we went to the village hall for the concerts of the different choirs. I helped with the sound! Back outside we had an ice-cream and looked at the sights. E.g. an old Eastern German Car, called Trabant. In the picture it symbolises the crash of the Berlin Wall. And the windmill of Ballstädt. Last but not least we listened to some more choirs on the outside stage. In the evening we went to the 'Berghotel' to have dinner. And tell you what: I drank Czech beer! The food was very yummy! What a nice day!
iloveletters Posted Sep 12, 2010, 4:21 pm	We started the day late since it was Sunday. For lunch we had spinach and eggs - mmmh! In the afternoon there was another choir concert - we are so busy these days. We went up the Hörselberg near the village and took part in the annual autumn party. First we enjoyed the wonderful view over the region. I put on my sunglasses because the sun was shining heavily, what a wonderful weather. This is the Hörselberg house and in front of it the choirs were singing. Can you see the paraglider in the background? Unfortunately, I was not able to fly with it. But maybe I will do a parachute jump later!

E.g. we built a bench from all these parts: First we have to paint everything, ugh, the paint looks yuck.... Than assemble all parts: And this is it, finally, in my host's corricor: After all the work done we sat down with some home-made cake and a cup of coffe.

iloveletters Posted Oct 4, 2010, 1:51 pm	Hello Mommy! I know it has been a while since my last entry but my host was very busy the last two weeks. Work or home and nothing else. So there was not really anything to see for me - unfortunately.  Still, on the weekend we took a short trip to Duderstadt. This town is about 150 km north of Mechterstädt in the Harz mountains. My host and her choir project gave a concert there today because of the celebrations for the national holiday in Germany. It's now been 20 years since the reunification took place! The concert took place at this hall: And this is the official ad for the concert: Because of rehersals we did not have time to see anything of the town. Ah, well,  this Wednesday we are travelling to Wales and then also stay some days in London. I am so excited! I am sure there will be much to see and after my holidays I will update my travellog again. See you!

Here are some street views of old houses: And at that moment there was also a fun fair on the cathedral square: We had dinner at an Indian restaurant. And last but not least we visited a concert by BASTA, a German a-capella 'boy'group. This took place at 'Kaisersaal'.
iloveletters Posted Oct 19, 2010, 2:58 pm	Yeah, we were on holidays in the UK! First we spent 4 days in Cardiff / Wales. Here is where we stayed - the  Angel Hotel. I  slept so well in the huge bed! iloveletters Posted Oct 19, 2010, 3:04 pm	From Sunday, October 10 until October 15, 2010 we stayed in London and did a lot of sight seeing. First we visisted Buckingham Palace - home of the queen. On our way we visited the guards in front of another palace and we also attended the horse guard changing ceremony. Here we are on Trafalger Square with the National Gallery in the background: We also visited the Imperial War Museum: and when we needed a break we had typicall British food: fish and chips! Yummy!

Here we are back at Buckingham Palace for the Changing of the Guard Ceremony in front of it. And here we are at the Tower of London: The ravens: For break this day we tried Cream Tea: scone with clotted cream and jam. It was delicious! And of course not to miss Tower Bridge: We took a break in Hyde Park. And here we are at the Princess Diana Memorial in the Park.

Pandamao Posted May 5, 2011, 10:23 pm	Right next to the English garden is the residence of the Bavarian King (there is no more king nowadays). In front of the entrance there are bronze lions - it is said that rubbing their noses brings luck - I rubbed real hard
Pandamao Posted May 5, 2011, 10:28 pm	I helped my host to go shopping in the city center. To compensate for the waiting while she tried on clothes she showed me the Munich opera house and the Marienplatz.
Pandamao Posted May 5, 2011, 10:41 pm	For the Easter weekend we went back to Sulzbach-Rosenberg. For Easter wells are decorated with painted eggs and ornaments. We visited a well near the house - really nice decorations!
Pandamao Posted May 7, 2011, 10:16 pm	my host invited me to a day trip to the Bavarian mountains. I had to get up early and take the train to Tegernsee. There are a lot of traditional houses, nice to look at. But we did not stay in town but hiked up to the mountain top. It was great to take a rest in the sun ... with beautiful view.
Pandamao Posted May 7, 2011, 10:19 pm	After our rest we climbed up to the top of the Riederstein. On top of the Riederstein there is a small chapel. It is just space enough for the chapel and a small bench to sit on and admire the view down to the Tegernsee.

Pandamao Posted Jun 12, 2011, 1:14 pm	Our host spent another week-end in the Upper Palatinate (North-East bavaria) to renovate the old house. We also took some nice walks around the house. It is close to the forest, very nice and calm, I can hear lots of birds here.
Pandamao Posted Jun 12, 2011, 1:16 pm	Tomorrow I'll go on vacation with Pandamao, some other TVs and Maggy, the dog. We have to get up really early to drive to France. We'll spend 10 days in the mountains of Provence.
Pandamao Posted Jul 25, 2011, 8:03 am	We got up very, very early and drove all day long to a mountain area in Haute Provence. When we arrived it was already dark and totally knackered we sunk in our beds.
Pandamao Posted Jul 25, 2011, 8:05 am	When I am not participating in a course on herbs in traditional chineses medicine, I like to go for a walk in the surroundings. It is a nice place, lots of green.

Pandamao Posted Oct 18, 2011, 9:25 pm	the weather forecast said it would be a great, sunny day so we headed out of Munich to the mountains. But when we arrived at Kochelsee (Kochel lake) there was fog everywhere  We walked around the lake nevertheless, the view was still nice and I enjoyed the hike.

Pandamao Posted Oct 20, 2011, 8:12 pm	the day started with sunshine and a walk around the Schwansee (swan lake) and Alpsee (alp lake). I had my photo taken at the lake side. In the background you can see a very tiny Neuschwanstein castle. I zoomed in with the camera to show you how it looks like.

Pandamao Posted Oct 20, 2011, 9:20 pm	this weekend there will be the streetlife festival in Schwabing. I strolled through Leopoldstreet to watch dance groups, singers, all kind of performances. It was great!
