Hi Mum,
I am so glad – I am with RikeH now. I stuck in Belgium, but RikeH wrote many many PMs and asked the last host to send me to her – and now I am travelling again! Dicker Kumpel were here and gave me a warm welcome. He seems to be a very friendly host. Then he introduced me to some other guys here. After talking a lot I went out into the garden – it was so great to see beautiful flowers! I met a big hippo… and these crazy birds… I am sure that I will like it here. Love you Mum Yours Bart |

Hello Mum,
Spring is in Germany now – we are so happy. Look at this wonderful yellow plant! We made a walk along a nice little river. Sülfeld has a wonderful old church. On the other side of the street is the pharmacy. On the way back we found another beautiful shrub. I loved the color! Back home we made another nice photo – I love flowers! yours Bart |

Hello Mum,
today we wanted to play Pool. Dicker Kumpel showed us, how it works. Then it was me to play. It was great fun : I won 10:09. I tried to call you and tell you about my success. But I didn't know your number. So I looked around – there must have been a horse here – years ago.... Bye Bart |
RikeH Posted Apr 24, 2010, 8:34 pm |
Hi Mum,
we made a trip to a small city today. RikeH went to school there – years ago. First we went over a bridge – to go into the town center. This ist the townhall with a wonderful fountain. This view is wonderful. There are nice old houses here. We saw the river again. It was a nice day! Greetings Bart |

Hi Mum,
Charlie will go to his next host soon. So we wanted to celebrate his last evening. We had a delicious salad. Here you see us all together. Then we had a barbecue. It was really delicious – I ate a lot! Then it was time to say good-bye to Charlie. . We gave him a big hug. Bye Bart |

Hello Mum,
We went to a nice little park near to Sülfeld today. It is called Naturerlebnis Grabau – and it was really interesting. We learnt a lot about the trees in the forest and other things. But I like most a nice place next to a lake. It was really a great time there. Love Bart |
RikeH Posted May 13, 2010, 8:46 pm |
Hello Mum,
the weather looked sunny – so we jumped in RikeH's bag and went to Hamburg with her. Here you see us in the train. First I looked out of the window... ...then I helped to write some postcards. In Hamburg the weather wasn't so nice, but we went to the Town Hall. A wonderful building. We went to the other side of the Town Hall. On the way back to the place where RikeH works we saw these nice Arcades. Love Bart |
RikeH Posted May 16, 2010, 7:02 pm |
Hello Mum,
I had a great time today – just look. I took a spoon and went into RikeH's kitchen. Yes – I found a delicious glass of honey. It is German honey. I opened the glass...it smelt wonderful. And it was so delicious. RikeH told me that we could go to her Mum – she is a honey-lover. So here we go... Great luck for me – RikeH's Mum had been to Sicilia and brought honey from there. I had chestnut honey... and lemon honey. What a nice afternoon. I completed one of my life mission! RikeH and I spoke over the tree chestnut – and to tell the truth – I didn't really know how they look like. So we made a walk – and I saw a blowing chestnut – it was so beautiful. Greetings Bart |

Hello Mum
It is Sunday and we made a nice trip to Bad Segeberg, a nice small town. On the way we stopped next to this field of rape. The yellow is beautiful. We went to the Lake – can you see the Monument? It is an Apache. Here is the Lake – and we have sunshine today! Because I will leave tomorrow, we went to eat some icecream – it was delicious. At home I had to say Good-Bye to Dicker Kumpel. I had such a great time here and felt safe and sound. I was worried about my next host, but Dicker Kumpel told me that I will move to a really great host! The others gave me a big hug. Now I am on my way to olgamaus. The trip should be a short one, because she lives in Germany, too. Love Bart |

Hi Mummy,
I arrived in Remscheid today. I came here with Squirt so I did not have to travel all the way alone. We were welcomed by our new host Katja and the ToyVoyagers Snuttig, Paddington Bear, Bernd the Bread, Ceryni and Roderich. Bernd is looking sort of grimly, maybe because he will leave later. There was another large envelope from Squirt's mentor. Squirt was happy to pull Japanese sweets out of the envelope. Katja told us that she adopted two panda bears from Squirt's mentor, they also brought a surprise with them. I don't know what this is, maye toys to use in a sandbox? No! Squirt knew that these are egg shaper! We'll try them tomorrow. Bye Bart |
olgamaus Posted May 22, 2010, 10:55 am |
Hi Mummy,
we met Katja's ferrets in the evening. This is Shiva, she is very curious. Help! She is bashing me down the sofa! The other ferret, Brighty, was more interested in Squirt. Both are very playful and they seem to like rough games. Bye Bart |

Hi Mummy,
we took a walk today to Muengsten Bridge, Germany's highest railway bridge. A feast is taking place there this weekend. Muengsten Bridge is connecting the cities of Remscheid and Solingen. It overspans the valley of the river Wupper. To walk to the valley took us about an hour. We walked along some pretty rural areas. In the forest we found this lookout point. From here you can see part of the large bridge looking through the trees. We reached the river Wupper than. Muengsten Bridge is made of steel. It is 107 m high and spans the valley of river Wupper, which is marking the border between Remscheid and the neighbour town Solingen. The bridge is 465 m long and was completed in 1897 A.D. Lots of people are enjoying the sun here, kids are playing in the shallow water and some dogs also. I heard a train crossing the bridge, but I could not see it. We took the bus home. Bye Bart |

Hi Mummy,
we made a really long hiking tour today. We followed the so-called "Roentgenweg", a circular route following the limits of the municipal area, 65 km long. It is running along the borders of the neighbour cities Hueckeswagen, Radevormwald, Wermelskirchen, Solingen and Wuppertal. This circular route is named after Wilhelm Conrad Roentgen, the founder of the x-rays. He was born in Remscheid-Lennep in 1845. We started our tour at Roentgen-Museum. Here is a map showing the hiking trail. Soon we left the housing areas of the district Lennep. We walked along Wupper dam for a while. Rural areas followed, we saw some farms. You can find wind turbines here as energy generators. We had to follow the sign with an encircled "R". We were on the right path - even after hours We walked along a commercial area. This was a regular road once, the tunnel is only broad enough for one car. We had to cross a state road here. We were opposite the city centre on its hill than. In the distance you can see the city with the city hall tower. Here is also a zoomed photo. We reached "Eschbachtalsperre" than, the first drinking water dam which was ever built in Germany. We crossed the retaining wall and walked down our to the valley. Here is the rear side of the retaining wall. Here is the water works, the drinking water is pumped from here in the valley to the water tower on top of the hill where the city centre is situated. We also walked along the open air bath which was re-opened after the winter break this weekend. From here we walked for another few kilometres through the forest and left the circular route to take a bus home. Here you can see that Remscheid is an industrial town, despite of the beautiful surroundings. They have a lot of metalworking industry here, tools are produced and all sorts of machines. We did not make the whole tour today, but about one third. Katja showed it to us on the slate map. We walked 25 km today! Now my feet are aching, I need a rest on the sofa Bye Bart |

Hi Mummy,
we took a walk to the municipal park today. It is not far from here, only a few minutes to walk. First I'll show you where I am living at the moment. We had a look at a small park in front of the police headquarter. Soon we reached the municipal park. You can find a pond here with ducks and turtles living here. This is blooming hawthorn. We walked through the park and had a look everywhere. Here you can see the pond once more. We went home than. Bye Bart |

Hi Mummy,
we said goodbye to Roderich today. He is traveling to Canada now. We accompanied him to the post office in the district Hasten. Hasten is one of the oldest districts of Remscheid. You can find a lot of those houses here, which are typical for this region. They are often covered with slate, you can also find many half-timbered houses here. They usually have green shutters. Katja showed us this Patrician villa. A museum is situated here, the so-called "historical centre". This building was built in 1778, In Hasten you can also find old industrial buildings close to dwellings. We walked through this very narrow lane. Of course there is a small centre point with shops, the post office and so on. Bye Bart |

Hi Mummy,
Katja took a walk with Belka, Tochi, who arrived yesterday, Bilica and Rafael to the municipal park. Outside it was so hot that Squirt and I decided to stay at home and help to prepare dinner. We made a potatoe salad. We started with cooking the potatoes and preparing the mayonnaise. To make mayonnaise you need one egg yolk, 100 ml vegetable oil, a little bit mustard, (red) wine vinegar, salt and pepper. The potatoes were cooked in their skin. First we had to beat the egg yolk, than oil had to be added very carefully while we kept on beating, first nearly dropwise, later in a thin flow. We had to peel the potatoes and to them into pieces... ... as well as a piece of cucumber, two gherkins and some hard boiled eggs. We mixed all the ingredients in a large bowl. In the evening everyone was happy that dinner was ready. Bye Bart |
olgamaus Posted Jun 9, 2010, 7:44 pm |
Hi Mummy,
did I tell you that Katja is working as a secretary in a law firm? She had to pick up a Preliminary injunction from the district court in Wuppertal today. Wuppertal is a neighbour city of Remscheid with about 420.000 inhabitants, situated on the river Wupper. Of course we went with her This is the district court, in this building they are working on private law matters. There is also a new building for criminal procedure. Here you can see the "Schwebebahn", a suspended monorail. The suspension railway travels along a route about 13 kilometres long, about 12 metres above the surface of the river Wupper and approximately 8 m above the city streets. At one point the railway even crosses the A46 motorway. The entire trip takes about 30 minutes. The Schwebabahn was completed in 1901. Here you can see the station "Landgericht" (district court). We came here by Schwebebahn When we finished our buisiness here at the court we walked back to the city centre. A train was coming by that moment. Here you can see the skywalk of one of the shopping malls, a church tower is reflected in the windows. In front of the city hall a farmer's market is taking place every day. Behind the city hall you can find another mall, the "Rathaus-Galerie". This lion statue is situated in front of it, the lion is the heraldic animal in this region, "Bergisches Land". You can also find a lion in the coat of arms in most of the cities in this region, also Wuppertal. Here you can see the city hall. We wanted to take another ride with the Schwebebahn, so we walked to a nearby station. Here you can see the station, a modern one this time. Here you can see me inside the station. Our train was coming in right than. Close to the central station houses are built close to the riverbanks. That's all for today Bart |

Hi Mummy,
the weather was much better today, so we decided to take a walk with Katja's friend Kerstin who is living in Luettringhausen, a district of Remscheid close to the city border of Wuppertal-Ronsdorf. The two ladies wanted to walk to a nice restaurant with a beer garden and than back home. We walked through a forest ... Soon we reached the outskirts of Wuppertal-Ronsdorf. First we walked through a housing area. Than we reached a rural area again. From here it was not far to the restaurant. It is called "Sunshine Ranch" We had "Nachos con chesa" and a salad - and a large beer. We walked back the same way. In the background you can see Luettringhausen. Bye Bart |
olgamaus Posted Jun 14, 2010, 4:16 pm |
Hi Mummy,
today we walked another section of the "Roentgenweg", we started exactly where we left the path some weeks ago. We walked along a creek for some time. Can you see those mill stones which were worked into the bank reinforcement? This wall is centuries-old, it once belonged to early industrial sites, probably built in 16th or 17th century. Here you can see Schloss Burg in the background, a medieval castle, situated in Solingen-Burg. This castle was built by early reigns of this region. It was built over centuries, start of work was in 13th century. Here you can also see a zoomed photo. |
olgamaus Posted Jun 14, 2010, 4:24 pm |
When we crossed a street we left the municipal area of Remscheid. We reached Solingen-Unterburg than, which is a very old district, situated at the river Wupper and Eschbach, a creek which is running into river Wupper here.
You can find nice old houses here. We completed our map which we marked last month. Today we used lilac arrows to mark today's trip. Bye Bart |

Hi Mummy,
Katja decided to try a wine-cooler with elderberry. Tomorrow she will meet a friend and than they want to enjoy it. It has to be prepared one day earlier. First Katja went to the municipal park and plucked five elderberry umbels. The flowers will have to be put into water with sugar, fresh mint, lemon juice and sliced lemon for about 24 hours. Everything was prepared than ... The bowl was closed than with a plate. The mixture has to rest at room temperature for 24 hours now. Tomorrow the liquid will have to be filtered and cooled for a while. Than white wine and sparkling wine will be added. I'm curious how it will taste Bye Bart |
olgamaus Posted Jun 17, 2010, 8:13 pm |
Hi Mummy,
today Katja visited her friend Karin. They often meet in the evening, than they are knitting socks. Katja filtered the elderberry base and filled it into an empty bottle. We took it with us to Karin, who already had cooled sparkling wine and white wine. Elderberry base, wine and sparkling wine were fillled into the punch bowl. Ready! Cheers! Our elderberry drink is really delicious! Bye Bart |

Hi Mummy,
when Katja finished work we took a walk in the city centre. At the entrance of the shopping street you can find those giant forceps as a symbol for the local tool producing industry. We walked along the shopping street. This is the entrance of the shopping mall. When we walked home we went through a street with nice old houses. This is the local court, the annex which was built a few years ago. Here you can see the original building. Bye Bart |

today I left Germany after saying good-bye to Katja and all my friends here. Belka also left today, so the other TVs might be a little bit sad. I packed some sour candies into my envelope. I hope you will like them Love Bart |

Hi Mom!
I made it to San Diego California just bearly! Bear-ly get it? Hehe! My trip was all but dark except at some point something happened to my package and it was torn open! I was so worried I would fall out, but luckily I did not. I think the postmen here are a bit more rougher than the ones in North Carolina! Although the contents of the package were no longer a surprise to my host, all of her toys were surprised and excited to see a new visitor! They all greeted me with a big welcome sign! I got to meet the Pillar family, a family of wind up caterpillars and Rosario a dragon who hopes to travel soon too! They seem like a fun bunch and I can't wait to play with them and explore San Diego! Oh and I didn't forget to give the postcard you sent to my host! She was very happy to add it to her collection! |
Xadrian xadriankruez@hotmail.com Posted Jul 24, 2010, 7:08 pm |
Hi Mom, it's me again, Bart!
Today my host and I went downtown to the San Diego Convention Center to the 2010 Comic Con International! We had tons of fun, unfortunately due to the crowds and indoor lighting some of the pictures came out somewhat blurry. To get to the Con my host and I took both a bus and a cable trolley to get downtown. The streets were so busy and littered with thousands of people! My host had to hold on to me really tight to make sure I didn't get dropped or lost in the huge crowd! There were also other events happening just off the trolley, but we did not get time to go to them. However if you look at the signpost to the right, it belongs to the orange line trolley and all signage had been converted to the Klingon language. After my host got her badge we were then allowed to enter the main part of the con and wander around. There were tons of huge statues and banners from movies, here's me by 'Bumblebee' a transformer from the movie Transformers! My host thinks this is from the movie Aliens... EEK! A banner from Iron Man The Ghostbuster's car! Neat! Femme Fetales... an anime? A comic? A manga? My host has never heard of them. Anyway, the banner was pretty cool. Another banner, but of the new Resident Evil movie coming out. While I was here I met several giant toys and people dressed as toys! I wonder if there has ever been a lego toyvoyager? Statues from the Clone Wars Adventures! We also got to see a display for the Tron Legacy movie coming out. It displayed some of the trademark special lighted up objects in the movie, gloves, keyboards etc - however my host could not get a good picture that wasn't blurry or had dozens of people in the way. After eight hours of walking around, my host decided it was time to head home! One last photo for the road! Bye Comic Con! Maybe I will get to come back again some time! |
Xadrian xadriankruez@hotmail.com Posted Aug 17, 2010, 10:14 pm |
It’s me again, Bart!
Today is finally the day we travel to Las Vegas, Nevada! My host spent most of the morning packing up her suitcase. Us toyvoyagers helped pack of course! Clothes? Check! Hair brush? Check! Extra camera batteries? Check! Soon it was off to the sun, fun and um…nothing around for miles! The car trip to Las Vegas took five hours and on the way was nothing but lots of desert! After several hours of traveling, we finally reached our hotel at Ballys and got checked into our hotel room. We all wanted to go out and see the sights, but our host was tired, so we all decided to take a nap. |
Xadrian xadriankruez@hotmail.com Posted Aug 17, 2010, 10:18 pm |
Today our host took me downstairs to the Sony Online Entertainment Fan Faire Convention. I got to play many new games coming out!
Here’s me by the huge Clone Wars Adventures game poster. It looks like it could be a fun game! DC Universe Online looks way more fun though! I want to play a super hero! Here’s me with some of the game mascots: Antonia Bayle and another lady from the game Vanguard Saga of Heros! Unfortunately the convention hall was very dimly lit, so a lot of the pictures we took did not turn out well at all. My host was very sad |
Xadrian xadriankruez@hotmail.com Posted Aug 18, 2010, 6:30 am |
Last night our host had a terrible spill in her high heels and was pretty banged up and bruised! We let her sleep in that morning and the other toyvoyagers and I amused ourselves with trying to figure out the purpose of this weird bucket in our hotel room.
Later we found out it’s to go and put ice in! After we explored other interesting things in the room, such as the blow dryer, safe, and dresser drawers we waited patiently for her to wake up. Soon our host woke and after shuffling around getting ready we headed out to the Las Vegas strip to do some sight seeing. We decided to go out the adjoining hotel called “Paris” which had several quaint bakeries and café’s inside. Inside was also a restaurant at the top of a mock Eiffel tower! Me outside of the MGM Grand hotel What a huge lion! This is the Luxor hotel, which is modeled like a giant pyramid and sphinx! Can you spot me? The Harley Davidson Café! Vroom Vroom! After walking around for a bit, my host started to get hungry. There were plenty of places to eat on the strip, but she doesn’t really care for fast food. My host considered going into the M & M’s World, but thought better of it. Maybe candy wasn’t a good idea for lunch anyway… After walking around awhile we found a nice Chinese resturaunt, P.F. Changs, however it was very crowded so we decided to just continue on and eat later at the hotel. We did manage to grab a quick picture by huge horse they had stationed outside of the eatery though This is the New York, New York hotel. See the huge mock bridge? Maybe it is the Brooklyn bridge? My host is unsure. Visitors can also ride a huge rollercoaster that wraps around the hotel for around $30. Beautiful statues outside of the Monte Carlo Hotel and Casino As there are many visitors in Las Vegas, the streets are always under construction with all the wear and tear from so much traffic! Diablos Cantina, a bar and eatery along the strip. It’s a devil lady! The hotel Excalibur, a castle hotel that is furnished very medieval inside and has nightly shows that involve jousting, knight role-play and eating renaissance type food with your hands! This is just outside of the Bellagio, where all the rich people come to stay. Every fifteen minutes a fountain show is performed! Any minute now… [ Here it comes! The pressurized air causing the water to shoot up into the sky is so loud! What a fun day! Well tomorrow we pack our bags and head back to San Diego! |

Hi Mom!
Today my host took me around town to view some of the decorated electric boxes painted by local artists. The electric boxes are all over the city, but most painted ones are along the more busier roads. The electric boxes start out plain, just like this one. After a little paint and a whole lot of work they are transformed! It's Domo! These boxes need a little TLC, they look a bit downtrodden! Whew, what a day of walking, but thankfully the weather is always nice here! |

Hi! It’s me, Bart!
Today my host took me and the other toyvoyagers to the La Jolla Cove. It was a very overcast day out so we didn’t go in the water; instead we roamed around the shore line. For about a mile along the beach there are various rock formations. These formations are very smooth to the touch and in some parts appear to have rings due to all of the years of the water pounding away at the rocks. Some rock formations higher up on the beach are still very much rough however. Look at all of this seaweed! The other toyvoyagers and I found a rather odd object lying around. It turns out that it is an oyster! These oysters are all over the beach and hang out in clusters on the rocks. As we went further down the beach, we saw the coves that the area is famous for. Some coves however may have been dangerous, so they have been closed off by stone. Other coves are still open and tourists are able to wander inside. Here is one giant cove in particular. My host could not figure out how to get to it except for swimming. Some seagulls taking a nap! A mini stone pier along the beach A kayak rental place in the distance. I wonder how all those kayaks stay put? By the time the sun started peeking from behind the clouds it was time to go. My host said she would take me back to a beach on a sunny day sometime. |

Today my host took the other toyvoyagers and I to a neighborhood park! We got to play on the playground! Wee! Boy that slide was hot! Time to blow a few bubbles! |
Xadrian xadriankruez@hotmail.com Posted Sep 21, 2010, 7:48 am |
Today I got to visit part of the Los Pensquitos Canyon!
In total, we hiked six miles, thankfully I and the other toyvoyagers got a free ride in my host’s backpack. Nothing but dirt, shrubs and trails for miles! You can't see it very well but there are houses in the distance. I’m beginning to learn that Californians aren’t afraid to build their houses on the top of mountains! Time for a break! Hrm..this spot isn’t the most comfortable to rest. The monkey seems to enjoy it though, he likes to scratch his back on this strange plant. We hiked up to a waterfall…but we could not find it! It must have been further down the stream. The drop down was actually very steep and scary! The picture my host took of me by the sign did not come out well, but she wanted you to see it anyway. It’s a sign warning hikers of rattlesnakes in the area! Scary! |

Hi Mom!
Today my host took me out to a new hiking spot in the Torrey Pines State Preserve! Heading up the trail to the pines! Quick view of the beach. The torrey pine is very rare and is only in two places in the world, this happens to be one place! Overlook of the marsh across the way. There are not that many marshes left in California That's me! I'm valuable! Along the way one can see many different desert plants. Let's go on this trail! Time for another trail before it gets too dark! My host said it was a tiring day... but I'm ready to go on another trail!! I guess riding in a backpack has it's advantages! Halloween is coming up soon... I can't wait to go trick or treating!! |

Hello mom!
Just a quick update. Today my host got a mysterious package in the mail! Upon opening it she discovered it was from Punk's mom. His mom had sent lots of goodies from Australia! Our host later took Punk out to the store to gather some surprises to send back |

Good Afternoon!
My host apologizes for the lack of updates recently. It has been rainy on a lot of days we had planned outings. My host says rain is about the only bad weather that California gets however. We did get another mysterious package in the mail on Saturday - this time it was another toyvoyager! His name is Bombus and he seems friendly so far! Yay for more friends! |

Today my host took me to a Christmas tree farm!
My host thinks the trees with the fake snow are the prettiest! Expensive!! |

Hi Mom, it's me again, Bart!
My host was not feeling very well over the holidays so we did not do much celebrating I'm afraid. We did however get to help package some gifts to send off to her friend. My host wanted to make some holiday sweets and decided to make some fudge. Unfortunately, the fudge didn't solidify, so we decided to make a simple cake instead! Oh no! One of the layers got stuck to the pan and fell apart! Thankfully we had the other one to frost My host wrote "Ragamuffin" on the cake because Ragamuffin the bear had always wanted a cake with her name written on it! Yum! Strawberry cake! |

Hi Mom, it's me again, Bart!
Today we went back to Torrey Pines beach for a few hours for some sun and fun! There are tons of black rocks that have been made smooth and round by all the water. Time to clear away the rocks. Look what I made! Just Kidding! |

Hi it’s me again, Bart!
Today my host received a package in the mail. It turned out to be another toyvoyager named Henry the Adventure Hound! Henry was very polite and told us that he is quite the seasoned adventurer! Our host also took us to the swapmeet in Santee, which is a smaller country type town. The swap meet is where hundreds of people gather to sell everything! Junk, Junk and more Junk! Shoes, pots, toys, you name it, it’s sold here! |
