Hello world!
I am called "Huhn", which is basically German for hen/chicken and I have been called a little bit crazy. But only a bit. Sometimes. At least in my hearing. Which isn't all that good, truth be told.  :cyclops:

Hello Mum,

I arrived in Sülfeld today. Dicker Kumpel gave me a warm welcome.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_A343.jpg

Then he introduced me to the others. We will go on an exciting trip soon.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_A344.jpg

I will write soon - if we have internet access. But now I have to talk to the others.  :D

Hello Mum,

After a really long flight we arrived in Hanoi. We got our Visas and went to the hotel to relax.

Later in the afternoon we made a walk. Look, this is our Hotel. RikeH and I are sorry for the photos, but I was not able to stand still, because I am so excited to be here.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_V0012.jpg

There are many motor scooter and motorbikes on the streets.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_V0013.jpg

Back in the Hotel we had a delicious cocktail.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_V0021.jpg

In our room we have a fruit basket. But I don't know all the fruits. Maybe you can
help me, Mum?

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_V0022.jpg

Before we went into the bed it was time to go into the bathroom. So many nice things
for me - I will be a very clean ToyVoyager!

Hello from Sapa,

today in Sapa we made a long walk. This is a ricefield - but the harvest already was over.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/IMG_V0050.jpg

We went into the house of one family living here - the house was not big - and there are
21 people living in it.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_V0053.jpg

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_V0054.jpg

Later we saw this nice waterfall.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_V0057.jpg

Look - what a hard way for a small ToyVoyager like me.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_V0059.jpg

I wanted to show you our room for this night.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_V0062.jpg

Do you know, what this should be?

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_V0063.jpg

This is the view into the garden.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_V0064.jpg

I found wonderful flowers.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_V0067.jpg

We wanted to start a second walk onto a hill in the afternoon, but it was too foggy -
so we stayed at home...

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_V0070.jpg

... and had a nice time in front of the fireplace.

Hello from Halong Bay,

today we started on a big boat. I will show you the photo later. This was the view from the boat.  There are many - around 2000 - hills in the sea - now little islands. The weather was nicer than it looks like on the photos.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_V0120.jpg

I really loved the view.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_V0122.jpg

When we went nearer to the islands, we could see that there are green trees on the islands.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_V0124.jpg

We made a stop at the Titop Island. It has his name by a Russian called Titov.
We climbed up the hill and had this nice view.  You can see our boat behind me -
it is the second one from the right with one sail.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_V0126.jpg

we went back and sat down on the beach. I saw the boat from here, too.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_V0128.jpg

Only sitting on the beach was boring - so Dicker Kumpel and I decided to make something exciting. Look:

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_V0129.jpg

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_V0130.jpg

This was fun!

Back on the boat - here is a view of our cabin.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_V0136.jpg

I looked out of the window and saw another boat.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_V0134.jpg

And a nearby island.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_V0135.jpg

Later we went onto the boat deck - and I found a place next to the flag of Vietnam.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_V0138.jpg

One hour later we visited Cua Van - the largest floating fishing village in Halong Bay.
There are about 130 floating houses and about 600 people live and work in the village.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_V0140.jpg

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_V0141.jpg

Look - a fishing boat.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_V0143.jpg

In the evening we spent some days on the deck drinking Cocktails - what a great day!

Hello from Hue,

today we will go by boat on the Parfume River. We went on a boat like this on the photo.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_V0200.jpg

This was one view over the River.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_V0202.jpg

This is the Thien Mu Pagoda (also known as The Heavenly Lady pagoda).

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_V0204.jpg

Here is a wonderful gate - with funny Statues in it. Can you see them?

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_V0206.jpg

Later we saw the Pagoda from another side.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_V0207.jpg

This is the Happy Buddha. I likes his smile.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_V0210.jpg

Another guard - I loved his face.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_V0212.jpg

Then we went to another place - Tu Duc King's Tomb. A big place - not only with his tomb -
it was built many years before he died - and he loved to stay here - writing poems.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_V0214.jpg

This big building was in front of his tomb.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_V0218.jpg

There were Statues on the way. Guardians, a horse and an elephant.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_V0217.jpg

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_V0220.jpg

Later we went to the Temple for the King.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_V0221.jpg

There were many more buildings - but many were destroyed - as you can see here.

Hello from Hue again,

we have a lazy day in the nice hotel today. In the morning we played in the beautiful room.

First we jumped on the couch.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_V0192.jpg

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_V0193.jpg

Then we went out onto the balcony.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_V0195.jpg

I shared the rocking chair with Dicker Kumpel.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_V0196.jpg

Then we all took a nap.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_V0198.jpg

For lunch I had delicious fruits - given by this nice lady.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_V0249.jpg

In the afternoon we went into the garden. I climbed up a palm tree.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_V0227.jpg

Then I went to the pool.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_V0232.jpg

This was the second pool here. Nice, too.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_V0234.jpg

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_V0240.jpg

We relaxed next to the big pool - and talked a lot about our adventures here in Vietman.

Hello from Saigon,

When we arrived in Saigon we did some sightseeing and started with the Reunification-Palace.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_V0325.jpg

We were able to see some rooms. This was a big meeting room.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_V0327.jpg

This was a smaller living-room.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_V0329.jpg

They had a garden - on the second floor - this was strange.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_V0331.jpg

And this helicopter. Maybe I will have my own helicopter later, too?

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_V0333.jpg

Later we visited this church - called Notre Dame - it was built by the French - only
with things from France.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_V0335.jpg

When we arrvied at our hotel room - I was very surprised. We have a great view over the city.
Especially when it went dark.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_V0337.jpg

And we have our own garden - in the 7th floor - much better than in the palace...

Hi Mum,

Imagine that - I am on a really big River - called Mekong.
We started in a small city - with a nice church.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_V0377.jpg

There were many boats here.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_V0379.jpg

We went into a house where they make caramel candys.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_V0381.jpg

Well there was more to see - we went faster.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_V0384.jpg

The Mekong-River is really wide!

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_V0386.jpg

On the other side we went on a canal in an Island. I loved the Palm Trees.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_V0389.jpg

Then we changed the boat and went on a row boat. This was nice and quiet.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_V0391.jpg

Later it was time for lunch. We had this Elephant Ear Fish - it was yummy!

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_V0392.jpg

In the afternoon we relaxed in our hotel. There were nice flowers in the garden.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_V0397.jpg

Can you see me?

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_V0396.jpg

We found this wonderful fruit basket in our room. Enough for a nice dinner!

Hello from Saigon,

We did some sightseeing out of our hotel-window today. This is the opera.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_V0487.jpg

The building with the green on the roof is the town hall.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_V0488.jpg

And we saw the Saigon River in the other direction.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_V0489.jpg

In the evening we went outside to take some more photos. Our hotel behind the opera.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_V0497.jpg

They decorated the hotel for the Christmas Season. Really colorful.

Hi Mum,

many greetings from Cambodia - a new country on my list!

We visited two Temples today - the first one was Banteay Samre.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_V0559.jpg

The carvings were wonderful - and the stone had a nice color!

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_V0562.jpg

Funny and strange creatures were the guardians.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_V0564.jpg

I relaxed in the sun - and other tourists were laughing about RikeH - can you understand this?

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_V0566.jpg

Then we visited another Temple - called Banteay Srei. It had another color - and was much bigger.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_V0567.jpg

Here you see, how big the buildings were.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_V0568.jpg

A really intersting place - we should come here together, Mum.

Hello Mum,

we are in the capital of Cambodia now. We spent our days in a nice hotel and had a great time. We had a very big TV in the room - and loved to watch sport there.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_V0622.jpg

We had a lot of fun!

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_V0623.jpg

But then we decided that it would be better to go outside. We had our own pool.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_V0608.jpg

It was great to sit next to it.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_V0611.jpg

I had a good view from this Flower.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_V0615.jpg

Look - there were wonderful green trees here.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/IMG_V0620.jpg

We finished the day - and our holiday - sitting in the garden and talking a lot.

Hello Mum,

imagine that - it is winter in Germany - really cold. We didn't want to make a walk with RikeH, because we are used to high temperatures. But today RikeH told us that it was time to go out.

Well - look - how it looked like in Sülfeld. Very snowy.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/A_0003.jpg

We made a break...

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/A_0005.jpg

...but it was very cold - we sat in the snow.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/A_0006.jpg

The animals are safe in this place - this is nice.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/A_0011.jpg

So many snow - where is the sun?

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/A_0012.jpg

These funny guys stood in front of our house.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/A_0018.jpg

And I found this nice plant in the garden - I love the red fruit on it.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/A_0019.jpg

At home we sat in front of the candles - it was so nice - and much warmer than outside.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/A_0023.jpg

Christmas will come soon - and we will have a tree inside the house - this is strange.

Merry Christmas, dear Mum,

today is the great day - when children and ToyVoyager get their gifts in Germany.

So we were very excited. First I played in the Advent wreath.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/A_0027.jpg

Look, this is the Christmas Tree of RikeH's Mum.

And we ate this delicious muffins.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/A_0031.jpg

Later it was time to meet Santa Claus! But we learnt that he was very busy - and sent
us a really good friend. Rudi, the red-nosed reindeer.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/A_0037.jpg

We sang some nice Christmas songs for him.

It was a success - and we got our presents!

Hi Mum,

nice news - Murph came to visit us on the 26th of December - and his guests Frankie and Hoots arrived too, they will stay here for some more days with us.

They brought some gifts for us - what a surprise.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/A2010c/A_0052.jpg

We talked a lot - then Murph told us that he will leave us, to spend some more time with Bine and Holgi. We gave him a big hug.

Hi Mum!

I've arrived at my new Hostmum's house safely.

I could hear a lot of noise as my envelope was being opened.  I thought there must have been a party going on or something, there were so many different voices...
http://i1069.photobucket.com/albums/u474/Snamoen/P1070322400x300.jpg

Then when I saw how many TVs there were, oh my goodness!
http://i1069.photobucket.com/albums/u474/Snamoen/P1070324400x300.jpg

I didn't need to worry though - they were all very friendly and made me feel right at home.
http://i1069.photobucket.com/albums/u474/Snamoen/P1070326400x300.jpg

Hippy is Hostmum's TV whereas Tobbi, Sheela, Flummi and Paula Hip are, like me, TVs that are currently staying with Hostmum.  Pinky Bear, Imperio and Edelweiss are staying with Gizalba, who is a friend of Hostmum's.  Unfortunately they didn't stay very long as they had to go back home.

I showed everyone the sweets that I brought with me - they liked them very much!
http://i1069.photobucket.com/albums/u474/Snamoen/P1070334400x300.jpg

You don't have to worry about me Mum, everyone is really friendly - I think I'm going to have fun here.

Hi Mum,

The weather has been so hot here, so we've all been taking advantage of that and spending as much time outside as possible.
http://i1069.photobucket.com/albums/u474/Snamoen/P1070347400x300.jpg

There's nothing better than sitting on a comfy chair outside and chatting with all my newly-made friends.
http://i1069.photobucket.com/albums/u474/Snamoen/P1070339300x400.jpg

Soon it got very hot though - so I needed a cold drink to cool me down.  It did the trick!
http://i1069.photobucket.com/albums/u474/Snamoen/P1070344300x400.jpg

Then, while the others did their own thing, I explored the garden a bit more.  Look who I came across!
http://i1069.photobucket.com/albums/u474/Snamoen/P1070355400x300.jpg

He was a very friendly toad, but soon he had to hop off back to his house.

As you can see Mum, it's been a calm few days, with all of us enjoying the warm sunshine.  Lovely!

Hi Mum,

Today we went for a short drive to visit one of the landmark's of the North East of England.
http://i1069.photobucket.com/albums/u474/Snamoen/P1070380400x300.jpg

Here I am in front of the Angel Of The North, isn't it big?  It's 20m (66ft) tall and the wings are 54m (177ft) long.
http://i1069.photobucket.com/albums/u474/Snamoen/P1070386300x400.jpg

Then I had an ice cream, which was very nice.
http://i1069.photobucket.com/albums/u474/Snamoen/P1070392300x400.jpg

When we got back to hostmum's house, we decided it would be nice to make a fruit smoothie.
http://i1069.photobucket.com/albums/u474/Snamoen/P1090647400x300.jpg

It was my job to pass the strawberries to Paula Hip.
http://i1069.photobucket.com/albums/u474/Snamoen/P1090648300x400.jpg

And tada!  Doesn't it look delicious?
http://i1069.photobucket.com/albums/u474/Snamoen/P1090649400x300.jpg

We each took a glass outside, so we could enjoy it whilst sitting out in the sun.  It was lovely.
http://i1069.photobucket.com/albums/u474/Snamoen/P1090652300x400.jpg

Hostmum also offered us some olives - some liked them, but as you can see from this picture, I didn't like them very much.  I think I'll stick to the fruit smoothie!

Hi Mum.

Today we all said goodbye to Tobbi and Hippy
http://i1069.photobucket.com/albums/u474/Snamoen/P1090790400x300.jpg

I hugged Tobbi and wished him a safe trip.
http://i1069.photobucket.com/albums/u474/Snamoen/P1090794400x300.jpg

Then I hugged Hippy - he was a bit nervous, as it's his first ever voyage.  But I wished him luck.
http://i1069.photobucket.com/albums/u474/Snamoen/P1090797400x300.jpg

Then almost as soon as they'd left, two more packages arrived.  I wonder who it could be?
http://i1069.photobucket.com/albums/u474/Snamoen/P1090802400x300.jpg

We opened the first envelope, and out popped Lizzy Lizard!
http://i1069.photobucket.com/albums/u474/Snamoen/P1090804400x300.jpg

Then we all opened the second envelope and out popped _Mishuta_!

Here we all are - Flummi, me, Sheela, Mishuta, Paula Hip and Lizzy.
http://i1069.photobucket.com/albums/u474/Snamoen/P1090807400x300.jpg

We all wanted to show Mishuta and Lizzy the area, so we decided to go for a short walk to Brunton Turret, which is another part of Hadrian's wall.
http://i1069.photobucket.com/albums/u474/Snamoen/P1090812400x300.jpg

Here we all are by the turret.
http://i1069.photobucket.com/albums/u474/Snamoen/P1090822400x300.jpg

Can you see me?
http://i1069.photobucket.com/albums/u474/Snamoen/P1090830400x300.jpg

Here I am!
http://i1069.photobucket.com/albums/u474/Snamoen/P1090829300x400.jpg

On the way back, some sheep came over to say hello.
http://i1069.photobucket.com/albums/u474/Snamoen/P1090814400x300.jpg

And here's another picture of me with the English countryside behind me.  This is the view from hostmum's house.
http://i1069.photobucket.com/albums/u474/Snamoen/P1090842400x300.jpg

Hi Mum!

Today we went to Durham, as that is where hostmum goes to university.  We went to visit one of hostmum's friends that goes there as well.  We spent the day at her college.  Who was the friend?  Gizalba!  It was so nice seeing Edelweiss again, and meeting Tapsi for the first time.

Here we all are by the pond in the college grounds.  Hmm... it looks like it could do with a clean!
http://i1069.photobucket.com/albums/u474/Snamoen/CIMG2251400x300.jpg

And look Mum - there was a rainbow, isn't it pretty?
http://i1069.photobucket.com/albums/u474/Snamoen/CIMG2263400x300.jpg

Then we saw this war memorial - it's dedicated to those that lost their lives in WWI.

http://i1069.photobucket.com/albums/u474/Snamoen/CIMG2254400x300.jpg

Here we all are with Durham Cathedral in the background.
http://i1069.photobucket.com/albums/u474/Snamoen/P1090880300x400.jpg

After that we got a bit cold so went inside.  We played a game of Monopoly on the machine in the bar.
http://i1069.photobucket.com/albums/u474/Snamoen/CIMG2297400x300.jpg

And to finish off the day, we all had a cocktail.  Don't worry Mum, I was very sensible and didn't have too much!

Hi Mum,

We went to an Alice in Wonderland themed party, it was SO much fun!!  We started the day by watching the Disney movie.  I had never seen it before - it was very funny - though the Cheshire Cat scared me a bit.
http://i1069.photobucket.com/albums/u474/Snamoen/P1100018400x294.jpg

Then, I felt like I had drank the magic potion that makes you shrink, because we went outside and everything was so big!!  Look, here I am with a toadstool... I feel so small!
http://i1069.photobucket.com/albums/u474/Snamoen/P1100022400x300.jpg

Then I played bowling - and my team won, yay!
http://i1069.photobucket.com/albums/u474/Snamoen/P1100036300x400.jpg

We then moved on and started playing checkers.  I felt like a character from Harry Potter, but instead of riding on chess pieces, I rode on a checker.
http://i1069.photobucket.com/albums/u474/Snamoen/P1100039400x300.jpg

And my team won again, yay!
http://i1069.photobucket.com/albums/u474/Snamoen/P1100040300x400.jpg

To finish the day, we played giant four in a row.  My team was green - we didn't win this time.
http://i1069.photobucket.com/albums/u474/Snamoen/P1100044400x300.jpg

Hi Mum!

Today, another package arrived.  I wonder who could be inside it...
http://i1069.photobucket.com/albums/u474/Snamoen/P1100357400x300.jpg

Not one, but two TVs!  HelgaHH and Niiskuneiti!
http://i1069.photobucket.com/albums/u474/Snamoen/P1100360400x300.jpg

We all made them feel very welcome.
http://i1069.photobucket.com/albums/u474/Snamoen/P1100362300x400.jpg

We decided it would be fun to play a game - Disney Trivial Pursuit.
http://i1069.photobucket.com/albums/u474/Snamoen/P1100376400x300.jpg

We all had to choose a colour - I ended up with pink.
http://i1069.photobucket.com/albums/u474/Snamoen/P1100374300x400.jpg

As the game was played, it was obvious who was in the lead, and unfortunately it wasn't me!
http://i1069.photobucket.com/albums/u474/Snamoen/P1100384400x300.jpg

It was fun asking questions though.  And to make it harder, whenever someone landed on a 'cheese question', we used the cards from the normal Trivial Pursuit.  My favourite question was 'Which US State has a 'z' in its name?'
http://i1069.photobucket.com/albums/u474/Snamoen/P1100380300x400.jpg

Do you know the answer?  It's Arizona!

Paula Hip won the game - well done her!  She's very smart.  It was a fun game!

We saw the Olympic Torch today!

We had to go in early to make sure that we had a good spot to see it go by.  Luckily hostmum had bought a chair with her, so we good sit and relax.

Hi Mum,

Today we all took a trip to Derwent Resevoir.
http://i1069.photobucket.com/albums/u474/Snamoen/P1100429300x400.jpg

The whole resevoir is just under 5km wide and there's about 7km of coastline around it.  It can hold up to 11 gallons of water and provides water for almost half of the North East of England.
http://i1069.photobucket.com/albums/u474/Snamoen/P1100435400x300.jpg

We went exploring and came across this really pretty river that runs in to the resevoir.

Hi Mum,

We've been in Essex this past week, visiting hostmum's Grandparents.  Unfortunately we haven't been able to go out and see things, as hostmum has had to help out her Grandparents (her Nana has just been released from hospital).  But that was absolutely fine - all the animals here have been keeping me entertained!

Here I am with Summer, who hasn't quite outgrown the puppy stage yet!
http://i1069.photobucket.com/albums/u474/Snamoen/P1070466400x300.jpg

This is Tosca, who is such a big softie.
http://i1069.photobucket.com/albums/u474/Snamoen/P1070507300x400.jpg

Here I am with Honey, who is very mischevious!!
http://i1069.photobucket.com/albums/u474/Snamoen/P1070473400x300.jpg

This beauty is Jessie, who is an old lady of 15.  She loves to cuddle.
http://i1069.photobucket.com/albums/u474/Snamoen/P1070492400x300.jpg

And finally, this is Mr. Pickles, the tortoise.  He's such a character!

So as you can see, I have plenty to keep myself entertained with!

I have made so many new friends here, and I was sad to say bye to them all.  But I'm really excited about continuing my travels and meeting my new host!

I better get going - the sooner I leave, the sooner I arrive!

I visited my host parents. They live near the river called "Engelberger Aa". I enjoyed to jump on the stones like a frog!

Unfortunately, they have still not repaired the bridge. The bridge was demolished by the flood in the year 2005.

We went to Trübsee today. Trübsee is a mountain lake but also the name of a nice place in Switzerland, at the foot of the Titlis. Trübsee is above Engelberg, reacheable from this town by cable car or after rather long walking uphill.

Trübsee can be reached by gondolas.

That's a very new building. It's the new University of Lucerne. It opend last year.

The world famous Chapel Bridge (Kappelbrücke). The Chapel Bridge is a covered wooden footbridge spanning diagonally across the Reuss River. As part of the bridge complex, the Chapel Bridge includes the octagonal 43 m tall Wasserturm, which literally translates to "water tower". The Kapellbrücke almost burned down on August 18, 1993, destroying two thirds of its interior paintings. Shortly thereafter, the Kapellbrücke was reconstructed and again opened to the public on April 14, 1994 for a total of $2.1 million dollars

A very nice painted house. It's the Fritschi-House or also the "Swiss House of carnival". It tells not only Fritschi's history, it also reflects the Lucerne Carnival.

We celebrated Cow's descent from Alpine today! I really enjoyed watching the beautiful cows.

The cows' descent from Alpine pastures gives rise to an impressive popular celebration. Having spent approximately four months on Alpine pastures, the beautifully adorned herds with their bells ringing rhythmically, together with the Alpine herdsmen in their traditional costumes, move back down to the valley. This popular celebration honors an ancient custom and keeps the tradition alive.

We made a special trip today. We went to Stanserhorn. The Stanserhorn is a mountain located in Switzerland, specifically, in the canton of Nidwalden close to the border with Obwalden, at 1898 meters above sea level. In 2001, a revolving restaurant was built on the top.

On 29 June 2012, a new cable car CabriO was opened to the public, with a capacity of 60 persons in each of the two cars. Unusually it has a double decker arrangement, and is claimed to be the first in the world with an open-air upper deck, with standing room for 30 persons. This runs from Kälti (Chälti on some maps) to the summit, with the original 1893 funicular railway running from the base at Stans to this intermediate station.

Of course, I also need a ticket!

It was an exception, I swear. But we had to watch Felix Baumgartner, who was jumping from the Stratosphere.

It was amazing, host-mom was nervous and her heart nearly stopped when he began to spin.

It was so awesome to see.

Hy Mom,

the last week was so dusty and rainy. Host-mom also had to work the whole week, because her colleague was sick.

But on Saturday, the 20th of October we had a little trip.

At first we made a test drive with the Dacia Duster, because host-granddaddy's car has broken down.

After that we drove to the Donauzentrum (Danubecenter), one of the biggest shoppingcenter in Austria.
In this shop it wasn't allowed to take fotos, so I'm not in it. Host-mom secretly took it with her mobile phone.

After that we went to eat a little.
The restaurant is called Saloon and there you can order a dish called Goldgräberplatte (Gold Digger plate), for 3-4 Persons.
Actually we don't know how this 3-4 Persons look like, but we coulndn't eat it.

On Friday, the 26th of October is the national holiday, and also host-mum's birthday.
We are going to visit the Heldenplatz and the Hofburg, because every year there you can see the Austrian military and the swearing of nearly 1.400 Military servants, the Austrian president is going to be there too.
But I'm going to show you more of it after our visit.  :)

Hey mom,

sorry it took us a little longer to get the pictures online.

We took a picture of me in front of the Votivkirche in Vienna.
Unfortunately we came to late to see the military on the 26th of October.
http://i1339.photobucket.com/albums/o712/Petzii01/Huhn/Nikon032.jpg

But when we came home we tried to make the chocolate-flakes like these we bought in the shop a few days before.
It tasted quite good.

Hello everyone!
Long time no see and a lot of things has happened! We have had a great time with Ape Apina and we have become friends.

http://i275.photobucket.com/albums/jj281/winchester90/SAM_1372_zps7ed14cc5.jpg
One stormy night at my current home Riihimäki.

We also went to the sightseeing in Riihimäki. This is a very small town so there aren't many big or important places but here is something:

http://i275.photobucket.com/albums/jj281/winchester90/SAM_1373_zpsfddc0a11.jpg
The statue of a glassblower. Riihimäki is famous of glass. The second of two last glassworks was in here. The last one was in Karhula and it was shut down a few years ago. So now there isn't any glassworks in Finland anymore. That's sad.. And actually my host mom's dad was one of the last workers in the glassworks of Karhula! So my host mom knows a lot about that.

http://i275.photobucket.com/albums/jj281/winchester90/SAM_1374_zps62aa1410.jpg
There is also a garrison in Riihimäki and it shows also in the street view.

http://i275.photobucket.com/albums/jj281/winchester90/SAM_1377_zpsd87e21c7.jpg

http://i275.photobucket.com/albums/jj281/winchester90/SAM_1375_zpsa7537ade.jpg
Here also the trees has scarves!

http://i275.photobucket.com/albums/jj281/winchester90/SAM_1379_zps1442a429.jpg
Jaiks! We are high!! Don't worry mom I'm careful :) (notice the newspaper in the tree..)

And then the place that my host moms call "the duck pond" but now it's frozen so we didn't see any ducks 8( I would have loved to talk them a little.. :/

Two weeks ago we got some company: three new mice! They were cute.

The whole pack of eight mice are getting to know each other.

Hi~ :cyclops:
This weekend is Qingming Festival in China. So We have a short holiday.

Qing Ming is a time to remember the dead and the dearly departed. More important, it is a period to honour and to pay respect to one's deceased ancestors and family members. Because it reinforces the ethic of filial piety, Qing Ming is a major Chinese festival. Literally meaning "clear" (Qing) and "bright" (Ming), this Chinese festival falls in early spring, on the 106th day after the winter solstice. It is a "spring" festival.

In contrast to the sadness of the tomb sweepers, people also enjoy hope of Spring on this day. The Qingming Festival is a time when the sun shines brightly, the trees and grass become green and nature is again lively. Since ancient times, people have followed the custom of Spring outings. At this time tourists are everywhere.

So We went to the park and  enjoyed flowers. There flowers are very beautiful

The spring outing was interesting. I like spring outing and I want to spring outing again.  :p

Beijing, China - 15th April 2014

By: papa_always
Hi~Mum

We attended a Chinese wedding. The bride is PAPA's good friend.

We had arrived in hotel with bride the night before. We had a last bachelor party with bride and all the girls in the evening.

I only had try a little Breezer. That's sweet .We played many game then we  went to bed late.

Early in the morning we went to the bride's room to close the door.
The bride is very beautiful. She hugged us and take picture  and Every girl took our  for picture,Do you know which one is PAPA?
The room is full of red,PAPA said,The Chinese regard the color red as the symbol of happiness, success, luck, faith and growth. They like red very much, which comes from worship of the Sun. In traditional Chinese weddings, there are double Xi characters in red, red scarves, red flowers and the bride wears a red coat.

I  don't know why close the door,PAPA tell me The firends of bride will not  allow the bridegroom with his friends to come in early unties he agrees some terms Generally, the bridegroom will give a red paper containing money.

The bride bed stood a red dates(early), peanuts(give birth), longans(Precious), melon seeds(children),The meaning is evident in the Chinese pronunciation of these four foods. When they are said together, it sounds like "Have a baby soon."

In traditional Chinese wedding,it is ceremony  before the daughter leaves her parents to show the departure.

After saying goodbye to the bride's parents, the bride should get into a sedan chair and there will be some happy music .then these people will escort the bride to the groom. They sang as they walked so busy.

The bride can't remove the cap on her head's red handkerchief after go out.
We have also come to the wedding Hotel
PAPA said In Chinese usually wedding is Relatives and friends are invited to the feast to eat and drink to the happiness of the bride and bridegroom.
There are more than 200 people attended the wedding.the happiness candy and happiness smoke on the table.I ate the sugar is sweet!  The Red wine is a special custom,Printed with the bride and groom's wedding

The wedding started,On the stage,we can see the man seated in the left side is bridegroom's father, and the other side is his mother, and this is bride, this is bridegroom. The man who officiate the wedding like the priest in foreign.

I heard,In china ,this part calls" baitang". taht is in the traditional wedding ceremony, bride and bridegroom perform the marriage ceremony in which they pay homage to heaven and earth and to the groom's parents.

The wedding is China dishes, very delicious
After the wedding we went to bridal chamber. The new bed is red very beautiful.

I think Chinese wedding is so interesting! Then Papa said In china Most of the young people will choose western style wedding,Wedding in the church, but she's friend think Chinese wedding more funny!

I wish the newlyweds happiness~~~ :D :D :D

HI~MUM

Today we went to the Wofo Temple.

I saw the temple introduction,Wofo Temple  is a Buddhist temple located near the Beijing Botanical Garden 20 kilometres (12 mi) from the center of Beijing. The temple is best known as the location of the 'Recumbent Buddha', a large sculpture of the Buddha lying down created in 1321.The current incarnation dates from 1734. The temple's first recumbent Buddha was carved in sandstone. In 1321, during the Yuan dynasty the sandstone carving was replaced by a 5.2 meter long statue made of bronze and weighing 2.5 tons.Following a north-south axis, the temple contains an entrance gate followed by three halls. On either side of the axis are buildings used by the monks for lodging as well as to accommodate guests. The first hall is called the Tianwang hall, the second the Sanshi Buddha hall, followed by the Recumbent Buddha hall.

Buddha is not allowed to take photographs so we took some pictures in the yard. The temple has distinguishing feature very much.I made a wish, I hope I can travel to more countries and I hope I can be a better hearing ear.Papa said,The thing always happens that you really believe in,and the belief in a thing makes it happen. :D :D :D

The weather is nice today. We had a good time :D

HI~Mum

We also went to the Great Wall this holiday. The Great Wall is near the town.
The Great Wall in a high mountain,We take the cable car up the mountain,It's quite a scramble to get to the top of the hill!

To use a chinese saying"He who has neven been to the Great Wall is not a true man."Or translated into ”One who fails to reach the Great Wall is not a hero.”So we climbed up!

PAPA said The Great Wall of China, one of the greatest wonders of the world, was enlisted in the World Heritage by UNESCO in 1987.
The Great Wall of China, also known in China as the Great Wall of 10,000, is an ancient Chinese fortification built from the end of the 14th century until the beginning of the 17th century, during the Ming Dynasty, in order to protect China from raids by the Mongols and Turkic tribes.Just like a gigantic dragon, the Great Wall winds up and down across deserts, grasslands, mountains and plateaus, stretching approximately 6,700 kilometers (4,163 miles ) from east to west of China. With a history of more than 2000 years, some of the sections of the great wall are now in ruins or even entirely disappeared. However, it is still one of the most appealing attractions all around the world owing to its architectural grandeur and historical significance.

The scenery on the mountain is very beautiful. :DWe climbed the Great Wall is just a small small small small part of the Great Wall :p

This is really amazing B)We down the Great Wall up to the ancient town for a long walk.

  Hey!I'm a really hero now :D :D
