On our way home, we went via Magna, an industrial science museum set in an old steelworks near Rotherham/Sheffield.
There were 4 zones. The first zone we went to was Water.

Next stop was Air. This is a musical exhibit with tubes and things.

Some of the toys are going away on their travels tomorrow, so we thought we'd have a game of Cluedo playing in teams

However, we spent far too much time chatting instead of concentrating on the game and we all drew the 8th clock leaving the crime unsolved.

This is a new building in downtown Calgary called the Bow. It'll be 810 feet tall when it's done.

This is so exciting....we got to do to the Glenbow Museum.

This is from the "Treasures of the Mineral World" Part.
Glenbow's mineralogy exhibition, Treasures of the Mineral World, offers a colourful glimpse into the depth and diversity found in the mineral world. The gallery is a popular stop for geologists, rock hounds, and visitors of all ages. You can see minerals that glow in the dark, find out what Fool's Gold really is, look at a piece of the earth's oldest rock, or just enjoy the sheer natural beauty of rock crystals in every colour of the rainbow.

Where Symbols Meet: A Celebration of West African Achievement explores how achievement is recognized and rewarded in five major cultural groups from over a dozen West African countries.

In addition to an orientation area which offers an introduction to the land and peoples of West Africa, the exhibition is divided into four major sections: Community, Diviners, Rulers, and Artists.

Hi, Mom! Today I arrived in San Jose safely. Maggie and her mom were slightly surprised, because they weren't sure if I would make it in time for the Pinnacles trip. But luckily I did :) Just in the nick of time too, because they are going on Saturday. Talk about great timing! When I arrived I met lots of other TV's. There was Wild Thing, he lives here and was visiting family in LA but he came back home on Monday. I also met Aurora who also lives here. Then there was Sunshine, NiliHH, and Jeremy who are all visiting. They are such a nice bunch! I am really excited for the adventures we will all share :) Miss you mom, but I am in good hands. I will write you again soon! Love, Salmonella

Hi, Mom. Today Maggie, her family, and all of us TV's went to the Pinnacles. It is a cave and set of trails that were created by a volcano a long time ago. We drove for about an hour and a half through the city, and out into the country through tiny towns with populations of only 200! Finally we got to the Pinnacles and went to the ranger store. There we paid our fee, picked up a trail map, and bought some postcards for Maggie's postcrossing hobby :) Then we headed up the road to the Bear Gulch area. We went into the visitor center and saw a table sized topographical of the area. Next we saw a poster that told us about how the caves were created by the volcano. There was a seismograph too, and on the wall there was a print out of some small earth quakes it had recorded in August. After our educational visit at the center, we walked out towards the trail head. Once we got there we saw a sign saying the caves were open and only .7miles away! The trail was all uphill, but the views were gorgeous! Here are some pics of me and the other TV's along the way. Then we saw an interesting old tree next to a sign saying we had made it to the caves! It was really very dark in there, but Maggie's mom managed to get a few useable photos of us. There were neat little ponds and streams inside, and tiny spaces to crawl through. It was really cool! Then we followed the light, and made it out of the caves. We were greeted by a long staircase with a giant boulder suspended over it. It was crazy to look at. Once we got to the top we saw the prettiest little lake surrounded by beautiful rock formations and hills! It was so worth the hike there :) We stopped for awhile and listened to another hiker playing his guitar while we enjoyed the nature and had a small snack. Then we continued our hike down around the rim. Once the sun went down we saw lots of bats flying through the sky! We had a really great day. Wish you were here!

Hi, Mom! Today we went to the pumpkin patch! It was really fun and there were lots of pumpkins to choose from. Maggie and her family chose 3 big pumpkins to carve :) Maggie says her pumpkin is going to be a surprise, so I can only show you her mom's pumpkin. She drew an owl! They won't be lighting them up until tomorrow, so you'll have to wait to see the finished product til then! ;)

It's finally Halloween!!!!! We are all sooo excited!! Maggie's mom spent all day volunteering in Maggie's classroom today for their celebration and arts and crafts projects. But when she got home we put together all the treat bags for the trick-or-treaters later tonight. Then they put out the pumpkins :) Maggie made the Boogie Man from the Nightmare Before Christmas. Turned out really well, she even drew him herself. Then there was the Cheshire Cat from Alice in Wonderland, and of course her mom's owl. I think they looked really great :) I loved the spooky glow they gave off when they were all lit up!

Hi Mom! Today a new voyager arrived. Her name is Sheela and she is from the United Kingdom. She brought all kinds of treats with her for Maggie! Since yesterday was so busy with birthday celebrations for one of the girls Maggie's mom nannies for, everyone was a bit tired today and we had a relaxing morning. Maggie's mom went to make herself a cup of coffee and showed us how she uses a french press instead of a coffee maker. She swears it makes it taste better ;) She let all of us try a sip. It was okay, but I'm not sure coffee is for me. Then we helped write postcards for Maggie to send to postcrossers. It was a nice day  :)

Happy Veterans Day and 11-11-11, Mom!!!! What an exciting and lucky day!! Maggie and the girls her mom watches had the day off of school. Since it was yucky weather outside we all made crafts indoors instead. Since Thanksgiving is coming up, we made salt dough ornaments to give to people we are thankful for. We used 1 part salt, 1 part water, and 2 parts flour. Then the girls mixed it all up with their hands (what a mess!), rolled it out, and used cookie cutters to cut out fun shapes. After we baked them for a few hours to harden and let them cool, they were ready for paint. Here we all are with Maggie's finished batch. Didn't they turn out cute?! :) The girls are so excited to give them out next week!

Hi, Mom. Today was Jeremy's last night with us. Since it was a special occasion, Maggie's mom gave us some cake! It was delicious :) After we finished up, we all gave Jeremy hugs and told him good luck on his travels. I'm glad he gets to go home for Thanksgiving, but we will miss him!

Hi Mom, today the girls were home from school since its Thanksgiving break. Normally they like to hold off on all Christmas activities until after Thanksgiving, but they were tired of turkey projects so we got started on Christmas ornaments really early. They know an older gentleman who enjoys wood working and makes lots and lots of cut outs that he sells at a great price. So we have bunches of things to paint this year, which made starting early a really good idea! Here we are with the before and after. Didn't the girls do a stupendous job?! After that the girls made a fort and us TV's got to play in it for a bit after the girls were done playing. It was a fun day :)

Today was really fun, Mom! We went to the movies :) Maggie's mom needed to pick up her car in Morgan Hill so we decided to go see Arthur's Christmas while we were there. Us TV's got to share a BIG popcorn and everything. It was a really funny movie and we all enjoyed it. When we were leaving the theater we saw a set up promoting the new Muppet movie. Maggie says we should all see that next.

After the movies we grabbed a quick bite and then headed to Christmas in the Park. It's one of San Jose's biggest and longest running traditions. They decorate all of Cesar Chavez park in downtown San Jose with trees and lights and Christmas displays. Businesses, schools, council members, girls/boy scout troops and other groups sponsor the trees and decorate them so each one is different. We walked around and took pictures with a few of the displays, then we had one of the famous hot chocolates. It has hot chocolate (of course), whipped cream, chocolate sauce, sprinkles, a candy cane, and a cherry with a little snowman decoration. It probably has about 1,000 calories, but it's a once a year treat and it is tradition :) Since it was soooo big, all of us TV's shared it. And let me tell you, it was DELICIOUS! On our way out of the park we took a picture with the serpent statue. It's for Cesar Chavez, who the park is named after. The people who made it say it's a dragon, but everyone who lives in San Jose jokes that it looks like a pile of poo, haha. But it is a San Jose landmark so I was glad to see it!

She had an amazing time over there and she brought TONS of goodies back for Maggie :) Gooble also has a new friend named Squakers that she got at an aquarium. They are both really really nice and I am glad they made it home safe. I can't wait to hear all about of Gooble's adventures!!

Hi Mom. Today Maggie and her mom were checking out all of our TV profiles and saw that one of Sheela's life missions is to meet a dog. They felt kind of silly for not noticing that before, so they took some pictures of us with their dog Molly right away. She is a King Charles Cavalier, and she is super sweet. She's funny because she doesn't like to play with toys, not even fetch! She doesn't realize she is a dog, she thinks she is one of the humans. But that's okay, because it means Maggie never has to worry about Molly chewing anything up, like new shoes or worse,  a TV! Although Molly is very sweet, she wasn't very interested in having her picture taken today. Maybe she thought she was having a bad hair day, haha. But here are some of the photo's that weren't too bad. Hope you enjoy them!

Hi, Mom! Today we went to Santa Clara to see the Global Winter Wonderland. It is where people create huge lanterns out of recycled materials that represent places from all over the world. It is the first time it has come to the United States, and we were very excited to go see it. The lanterns were so beautifully made and some were very intricate. We walked around for quite awhile looking at all the lights, but it was really cold and we started to freeze! So we headed inside and listened to a live band while we warmed up. They were only okay. Then we went to see the rest of the lights and went through a dinosaur maze. There was a giant T-rex that moved and roared, it was neat :) Hope things are going well at home!

Hey, Mom. Today we drove down to the beach! We didn't really go to the beach though, we went to a town near the beach called called Pacific Grove. Every year thousand of Monarch butterflies fly here during their migration. They cluster in the trees and look like dead leaves to the untrained eye. Luckily, we knew what to look for. There were 12,500 butterflies the day we went. If it is too cold, the butterflies can't fly.Today was pretty cold, so they were mostly in the trees. A few were on the ground and other places trying to move their wings to warm up so they could fly up to the tree with the other butterflies, but they weren't very successful :( We took tons of pictures!! I hope you enjoy them :) See if you can find the clusters of butterflies in the not zoomed in pictures. Here is a good site for you to look at so you can learn more about the Monarch migration. There was a wonderful docent there that taught Maggie and us all about the life cycle and migration of the Monarchs. It was very interesting! After we saw the butterflies we went to Monterey, CA to eat at a restaurant on the pier. It's called Bubba Gumps, and it is supposed to be the restaurant from the movie Forrest Gump. Have you ever seen that movie, Mom? It's pretty good. Miss you lots!

Merry Christmas Eve, Mom! Today we are making cookies for Santa. We decided to frost half of them, so that Santa can decide which he likes best :) After making cookies we lounged around in our pajamas most of the day, and then went to a nice dinner. After dinner and some more lounging around, we went to midnight mass. After church it was 1:30 in the morning, so we put out the cookies and note for Santa. We only had soy milk since Maggie can't have regular milk, so she is hoping Santa likes soy milk too. Then Maggie tucked us in with some of her favorite lovies. I can't wait for the morning!! I hope Santa comes :D

MERRY CHRISTMAS, MOM!!! Exciting news, Santa came!!There were sooooo many presents. It took an hour and a half to open everything! Although, Maggie is a bit slow at opening gifts. Most kids tear through them, but Maggie likes to open them slowly and enjoy each gift before moving on to the next :) I hope you had a wonderful Christmas at home! Love you!

Hello again :) Things have been a bit boring while Maggie's been on vacation, so yesterday we decided to go on a trip. Now here we are in San Simeon! We got in after dark, so we had to wait until today to go see the seals. This time every year, elephant seals come to shore to have their babies. It is right at the start of the birthing season! The first beach we went to didn't have very many seals, but we were able to get very close to them. They can weigh several tons, so you are not allowed to go onto the beach with them. But there were some rocks a few feet away that we sat on to observe from a safe distance. The first beach had some babies that were probably a few days old. They were very cute :) But mostly, this beach had bulls fighting over the harem. See the big bull with the red eyes? He kept staring at us! After an hour or so we decided to head down to road to another beach with a bigger group of seals. This one had a board with information about the seals. From reading the board we learned that when you see a group of seagulls around a seal, it means a birth is imminent. Almost right after reading that we saw a bunch of seagulls fly around a seal! We ran over to try and catch a birth, but we were too late. Turns out the seal had delivered her baby a few minutes earlier, and the gulls were coming for the after birth. Kind of yucky, but the gulls like to eat it! Within a minute or so the seal passed the after birth and the gulls grabbed it up and started fighting over it. Once it started to get too cold and windy we headed even further down to road to Moonstone Beach to watch the sunset. The picture doesn't at all do it justice. It was really magnificent!! Wish you could have been here!

It has been a long, fun month!
Left Miss Kristy's car at the shop for an oil change. We walked to Grandy's to wait. It rained really heavily on us on the way back!

Hi mum
After a long and hot journey (customs arrested us for a few day's)
Lola and i arrived in Switzerland.

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg232/scaled.php?server=232&filename=toyvoyagers001.jpg&res=landing

When our box was opened we  first saw a bit daylight and then two furry noses.

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg51/scaled.php?server=51&filename=toyvoyagers002.jpg&res=landing

We climbed out and became a warm welcome .

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg100/scaled.php?server=100&filename=toyvoyagers003.jpg&res=landing

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg13/scaled.php?server=13&filename=toyvoyagers005.jpg&res=landing

We shared the chocolade we brought from Germany and than we had sandwiches and icetea. So fine after seven day's of diet.

Hello mum

Today a neighbor brought host mum a courgette. A very, very big thing.
A green giant. A crocodile!!

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg853/scaled.php?server=853&filename=toyvoyagers029.jpg&res=landing

We decided to bake a cake.
While i was mixing butter and sugar, Lola and Pettersson (a little moose) grated a piece of crocodile (courgette).

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg696/scaled.php?server=696&filename=toyvoyagers001o.jpg&res=landing

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg100/scaled.php?server=100&filename=toyvoyagers005.jpg&res=landing

Lola added three eggs.

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg52/scaled.php?server=52&filename=toyvoyagers004.jpg&res=landing

Then we added the rest -  chocolade, nuts, flower, baking soda and grated crocodile.

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg834/scaled.php?server=834&filename=toyvoyagers008.jpg&res=landing

We filled the dough in a baking dish,

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg809/scaled.php?server=809&filename=toyvoyagers009.jpg&res=landing

and after an hour we could taste our cake. Yummy, yummy.

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg259/scaled.php?server=259&filename=toyvoyagers002.jpg&res=landing

Tell you more tomorrow.
A lot of hugs from your little fish, Salmonella

Hi mum
After a heavy thunderstorm in the night and a lot of rain in the morning, we took advantage of the first ray of sunshine for a little excursion. We drove through small villages and i saw lots of green meadows and cows.

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg9/scaled.php?server=9&filename=toyvoyagers006.jpg&res=landing

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg812/scaled.php?server=812&filename=toyvoyagers010.jpg&res=landing

We drove higher and higher into the mountains.

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg38/scaled.php?server=38&filename=toyvoyagers011.jpg&res=landing

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg69/scaled.php?server=69&filename=toyvoyagers012.jpg&res=landing

Then we reached Schwägalp, a small pass 1352 above sea level.

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg526/scaled.php?server=526&filename=toyvoyagers013.jpg&res=landing

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg820/scaled.php?server=820&filename=toyvoyagers035.jpg&res=landing

With a cableway can reach the summit of Säntis. At 2502 meters above sealevel, Säntis is the tallest mountain in the Alpstein massif. The mountain is a highly visible landmark thanks to its exposed northerly location within the Alpstein massif. From the summit six countries can be seen if the weather allows.Switzerland, Germany, Austria, Lichtenstein, France and Italy.

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg843/scaled.php?server=843&filename=toyvoyagers017.jpg&res=landing

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg38/scaled.php?server=38&filename=toyvoyagers022.jpg&res=landing

Looking for the summit.

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg59/scaled.php?server=59&filename=toyvoyagers024.jpg&res=landing

Here you can see me as a free climber!!

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg405/scaled.php?server=405&filename=toyvoyagers025.jpg&res=landing

Having a break.

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg844/scaled.php?server=844&filename=toyvoyagers018.jpg&res=landing

After a little walk arround Schwägalp we enjoyed a big icecream. Yumyum.

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg805/scaled.php?server=805&filename=toyvoyagers031.jpg&res=landing

Host mum told us, in April 1999, just beneath the summit of Säntis on the northern snow field, a snow height of 816 cm was recorded.
There was also a murder, happened in winter 1922. The weather station keeper and his wife where murdered. It was only dicovered because of missing weather reports. The truth about this double murder hence remains unclear to this day. Sooo scary.

We also visited a dairy. First i had a ride on a cow.

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg405/scaled.php?server=405&filename=toyvoyagers041.jpg&res=landing

Then i saw the big copper kettle in wich the milk is heated.

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg839/scaled.php?server=839&filename=toyvoyagers044.jpg&res=landing

I had a look in the cheese cellar and to the handicraft.

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg11/scaled.php?server=11&filename=toyvoyagers046.jpg&res=landing

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg805/scaled.php?server=805&filename=toyvoyagers039.jpg&res=landing

I quickly took a little bath in a foutain and after a last look at the summit we were on our way home.

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg195/scaled.php?server=195&filename=toyvoyagers033.jpg&res=landing

After a beautifull and exciting day a tired, little fish says bye bye.

Hi mum
Are you fine?? I am, i'm having a lot of fun. This morning, after breakfast, as host mum took a shower we ( Lola, Pettersson, Angeli and myself) decided to play a game. It's called crazy maze.

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg844/scaled.php?server=844&filename=toyvoyagers006.jpg&res=landing

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg513/scaled.php?server=513&filename=toyvoyagers008.jpg&res=landing

We were so absorbed in the game, that we did'nt notice that's lunch time. We had a swiss specialty: Bratwurst and Röschti. Means grilled sausage and hash brown. I loved it.

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg834/scaled.php?server=834&filename=toyvoyagers035b.jpg&res=landing

After lunch and a little nap, host mum brought an envelope and we all were very curios to see what's in there.

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg221/scaled.php?server=221&filename=toyvoyagers011.jpg&res=landing

Fiete was inside. We welcomed him warmly and he showed us his gifts.

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg802/scaled.php?server=802&filename=toyvoyagers013.jpg&res=landing

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg201/scaled.php?server=201&filename=toyvoyagers014.jpg&res=landing

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg32/scaled.php?server=32&filename=toyvoyagers025.jpg&res=landing

Oho mum, have i already told you where i'm sleeping?? In a waterbed, a really waterbed.

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg526/scaled.php?server=526&filename=toyvoyagers004.jpg&res=landing

It's so much fun to jump on the mattress. Ok, the other became a bit greenish - sometimes - after 100 jumps. But i'm happy.

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg707/scaled.php?server=707&filename=toyvoyagers020.jpg&res=landing

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg6/scaled.php?server=6&filename=toyvoyagers022.jpg&res=landing

Many greetings from a happy, jumping fish.

Hi mum
Yesterday weather wasn't good, cloudy and cold. In the afternoon it started to rain. So we had a lazy day. While i couldn't decide which book i want to read,

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg443/scaled.php?server=443&filename=toyvoyagers002.jpg&res=landing

Lola was listening music,

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg59/scaled.php?server=59&filename=toyvoyagers003.jpg&res=landing

Angeli looked at strange pictures

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg837/scaled.php?server=837&filename=toyvoyagers005.jpg&res=landing

and Pettersson dreamed of Sweden.

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg716/scaled.php?server=716&filename=toyvoyagers007.jpg&res=landing

Then it was time to prepare dinner. PIZZA!!!

We gave flower into a bowl

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg856/scaled.php?server=856&filename=toyvoyagers005.jpg&res=landing

added yeast, water, salt and some olive oil

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg4/scaled.php?server=4&filename=toyvoyagers006.jpg&res=landing

and mixed very well ( or let machine do )

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg338/scaled.php?server=338&filename=toyvoyagers008.jpg&res=landing

After a while, put the dough on a baking tray. Looks good.

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg607/scaled.php?server=607&filename=toyvoyagers010.jpg&res=landing

Tomato sauce, Mozzarella and ham spread on it. Looks better.

High, high, like a bird in the sky...
Oh, hi mum i can't get this song out of my head. I heard it on radio yesterday.
Host mum called us TV's yesterday: " We are going to visit the biggest city of Switzerland." So we jumped into her bag and off we went.

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg94/scaled.php?server=94&filename=toyvoyagers002.jpg&res=landing

The weather didn't look very good.

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg209/scaled.php?server=209&filename=toyvoyagers003.jpg&res=landing

After what feels like 100 hours (we were in a traffic jam) we arrived at Zürich, the biggest city of Switzerland.

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg15/scaled.php?server=15&filename=toyvoyagers005.jpg&res=landing

There we visited the first thing "Prime Tower" the highest building of Switzerland. Completed 2011, 126 meters high, 36 floors.

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg515/scaled.php?server=515&filename=toyvoyagers025.jpg&res=landing

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg834/scaled.php?server=834&filename=toyvoyagers020.jpg&res=landing

From entrance to first floor we had to use stairs.

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg4/scaled.php?server=4&filename=toyvoyagers018.jpg&res=landing

And then...an elevator!!

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg254/scaled.php?server=254&filename=toyvoyagers015.jpg&res=landing

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg594/scaled.php?server=594&filename=toyvoyagers009.jpg&res=landing

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg838/scaled.php?server=838&filename=toyvoyagers008.jpg&res=landing

And than your little fish felt like a bird.

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg38/scaled.php?server=38&filename=toyvoyagers010.jpg&res=landing

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg641/scaled.php?server=641&filename=toyvoyagers013.jpg&res=landing

When we go on to famous Bahnhofstrasse, with all its expensive shops, weather was getting worse and worse.

Didn't matter, we had raincovers. Ok, the others had raincover, i don't need that, i'm a fish.

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg571/scaled.php?server=571&filename=toyvoyagers028.jpg&res=landing

I saw some famous shops.

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg13/scaled.php?server=13&filename=toyvoyagers032.jpg&res=landing

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg37/scaled.php?server=37&filename=toyvoyagers040.jpg&res=landing

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg88/scaled.php?server=88&filename=toyvoyagers072.jpg&res=landing

and Lindt und Sprüngli, the luxury Swiss chocolate and confectionery company.

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg607/scaled.php?server=607&filename=toyvoyagers046.jpg&res=landing

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg404/scaled.php?server=404&filename=toyvoyagers047.jpg&res=landing

I quickly sat on a Rolls Royce.

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg9/scaled.php?server=9&filename=toyvoyagers034.jpg&res=landing

I saw Swiss national bank and stock market and expensive hotels.

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg267/scaled.php?server=267&filename=toyvoyagers053.jpg&res=landing

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg99/scaled.php?server=99&filename=toyvoyagers064.jpg&res=landing

We walked on to lake Zürich, had small talk with a swan and saw one of many excursions boats.

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg855/scaled.php?server=855&filename=toyvoyagers054.jpg&res=landing

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg822/scaled.php?server=822&filename=toyvoyagers055.jpg&res=landing

We discovered a nice clock, build with flowers,

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg853/scaled.php?server=853&filename=toyvoyagers056.jpg&res=landing

and a small harbor for sailing- and motorboats.

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg4/scaled.php?server=4&filename=toyvoyagers057.jpg&res=landing

A little look around and then go on, the weather was to nasty.

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg193/scaled.php?server=193&filename=toyvoyagers062.jpg&res=landing

After a little walk, we arrived old town with Frauenmünster, one of the wellknown churches, and a nice place in old town.

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg534/scaled.php?server=534&filename=toyvoyagers076.jpg&res=landing

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg513/scaled.php?server=513&filename=toyvoyagers078.jpg&res=landing

We walked on to Grossmünster, another church, and to river Limmat.

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg839/scaled.php?server=839&filename=toyvoyagers079.jpg&res=landing

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg841/scaled.php?server=841&filename=toyvoyagers083.jpg&res=landing

Hi mum
It is autumn here in Switzerland. It rains a lot in the last few days and it's getting colder. Yesterday Pettersson has received an invitation to Germany. At night, when everyone was asleep, we celebrated a small farewell party. With sparkling wine, olives, Swiss cheese ind Italian breadsticks. We have lit candles and sang songs.

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg94/scaled.php?server=94&filename=toyvoyagers001.jpg&res=landing

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg36/scaled.php?server=36&filename=toyvoyagers003.jpg&res=landing

This morning we all hugged Pettersson and wished a safe journey.

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg27/scaled.php?server=27&filename=toyvoyagers022.jpg&res=landing

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg826/scaled.php?server=826&filename=toyvoyagers023.jpg&res=landing

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg441/scaled.php?server=441&filename=toyvoyagers026.jpg&res=landing

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg820/scaled.php?server=820&filename=toyvoyagers025.jpg&res=landing

Host mum then brought him to the post. Upon their return, we harvested basil.

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg694/scaled.php?server=694&filename=toyvoyagers007.jpg&res=landing

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg13/scaled.php?server=13&filename=toyvoyagers010.jpg&res=landing

We've plucked the leaves from the stems and then mixed with salt and olive oil.

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg443/scaled.php?server=443&filename=toyvoyagers014.jpg&res=landing

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg856/scaled.php?server=856&filename=toyvoyagers015.jpg&res=landing

This paste, we have filled in small glasses.

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg266/scaled.php?server=266&filename=toyvoyagers018.jpg&res=landing

Host mum used them in the winter for salad dressings, soups and tomato sauce. Maybe the weather is better tomorrow, then we can go hiking to the small river nearby.

Many greetings from your little fish

When we awoke this morning, the sun was shining. We knew today we can go to the small river Thur. Host mum told us that the source is on the Säntis, and after 134 km. flows into the river Rhine. After a short hike we reached a bridge and had a great view in a romantic valley.

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg411/scaled.php?server=411&filename=toyvoyagers005.jpg&res=landing

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg546/scaled.php?server=546&filename=toyvoyagers006.jpg&res=landing

We crossed the river Thur and climbed up a steep path. We kept walking along a narrow forest path,

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg607/scaled.php?server=607&filename=toyvoyagers015.jpg&res=landing

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg225/scaled.php?server=225&filename=toyvoyagers016.jpg&res=landing

and heard a noise in the distance. Between moss-covered rocks (the photos are not so good, it was too dark), we saw a small waterfall.

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg825/scaled.php?server=825&filename=toyvoyagers018.jpg&res=landing

We had to climb down a steep, narrow path to get to shore.

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg27/scaled.php?server=27&filename=toyvoyagers025.jpg&res=landing

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg819/scaled.php?server=819&filename=toyvoyagers026.jpg&res=landing

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg100/scaled.php?server=100&filename=toyvoyagers052.jpg&res=landing

We crept through between large boulders and were finally at the waterfall.

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg204/scaled.php?server=204&filename=toyvoyagers058.jpg&res=landing

At the root of a fallen tree, we rested a bit.

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg651/scaled.php?server=651&filename=toyvoyagers054.jpg&res=landing

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg850/scaled.php?server=850&filename=toyvoyagers055.jpg&res=landing

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg837/scaled.php?server=837&filename=toyvoyagers056.jpg&res=landing

This place looked very mysterious.

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg109/scaled.php?server=109&filename=toyvoyagers060.jpg&res=landing

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg41/scaled.php?server=41&filename=toyvoyagers062.jpg&res=landing

After a while we wandered on, always up the hill and came upon a large meadow. On a bench we had a rest and drank some water to refresh.

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg189/scaled.php?server=189&filename=toyvoyagers072.jpg&res=landing

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg195/scaled.php?server=195&filename=toyvoyagers071.jpg&res=landing

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg545/scaled.php?server=545&filename=toyvoyagers081.jpg&res=landing

On the way home

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg32/scaled.php?server=32&filename=toyvoyagers084.jpg&res=landing

we saw beautiful flowers, elderflower and pear trees.

Hi mum, yesterday we took a trip to St. Gallen, the capital of the canton. We drove through nice little places and through beautiful countryside with lots of woods and meadows.

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg571/scaled.php?server=571&filename=toyvoyagers001.jpg&res=landing

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg267/scaled.php?server=267&filename=toyvoyagers004.jpg&res=landing

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg825/scaled.php?server=825&filename=toyvoyagers005.jpg&res=landing

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg43/scaled.php?server=43&filename=toyvoyagers007.jpg&res=landing

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg338/scaled.php?server=338&filename=toyvoyagers008a.jpg&res=landing

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg13/scaled.php?server=13&filename=toyvoyagers074.jpg&res=landing

Now and then we saw cows grazing.

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg600/scaled.php?server=600&filename=toyvoyagers006.jpg&res=landing

St.Gallen, with 73,000 inhabitants, is the largest town in Canton.

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg17/scaled.php?server=17&filename=toyvoyagers067.jpg&res=landing

St.Gallen is known especially because of the monastery and the abbey library. But even the old city with the many small streets is worth seeing.

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg171/scaled.php?server=171&filename=toyvoyagers035.jpg&res=landing

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg29/scaled.php?server=29&filename=toyvoyagers041.jpg&res=landing

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg703/scaled.php?server=703&filename=toyvoyagers050.jpg&res=landing

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg94/scaled.php?server=94&filename=toyvoyagers052.jpg&res=landing
In contrast to the many old buildings, the city government is very modern.

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg28/scaled.php?server=28&filename=toyvoyagers065.jpg&res=landing

We strolled through the monastery courtyard and admired the Cathedral. In the old monastic buildings today, the cantonal government is housed.

The Cathedral has been described as one of the last monumental Baroque monasteries in the western world. It was completed in the 1766th The monks who founded the library books Considered as medicine for the spirit. The 150,000 strong collection continues to inspire visitors and scholars today.
Only 30,000 of the library's collection - books and manuscripts - can be seen. Some books are simply to precious to be shown in plublic. There are 400 books that are more than 1000 years old. Photographing was of course strictly forbidden

The Convent of St. Gallen is Unesco world heritage site since 1983. After visiting the monastery we had earned a break.

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg69/scaled.php?server=69&filename=toyvoyagers039.jpg&res=landing

On the way home we host dad has shown the soccer stadium.

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg253/scaled.php?server=253&filename=toyvoyagers071.jpg&res=landing

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg560/scaled.php?server=560&filename=toyvoyagers072.jpg&res=landing

Coincidentally, we were able to witness a Désalpe.

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg39/scaled.php?server=39&filename=toyvoyagers076.jpg&res=landing

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg35/scaled.php?server=35&filename=toyvoyagers077.jpg&res=landing

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg855/scaled.php?server=855&filename=toyvoyagers078.jpg&res=landing

From a distance we saw once again Säntis

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg801/scaled.php?server=801&filename=toyvoyagers086.jpg&res=landing

and beautiful farmhouses.

I say bye, bye after a busy day.

Hi mum
yesterday was our host brother's proposal to visit the Churfirsten. The Churfirsten are a mountain range in the valley of Toggenburg. This Plating comprises seven peaks, all over 2000 meters high.

http://www.freizeitfreunde.ch/images/Churfirsten_1_4_1.jpg

Therefore host mum calls it the mountains of Snow White. "Behind the seven hills, where the seven dwarfs ..." So we were on our way.

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg152/scaled.php?server=152&filename=toyvoyagers002.jpg&res=landing

In perfect weather we drove up the Toggenburg to Alt St. Johann.

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg140/scaled.php?server=140&filename=toyvoyagers004.jpg&res=landing

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg685/scaled.php?server=685&filename=toyvoyagers005.jpg&res=landing

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg138/scaled.php?server=138&filename=toyvoyagers008.jpg&res=landing

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg12/scaled.php?server=12&filename=toyvoyagers009.jpg&res=landing

This small village is incidentally the hometown of the famous ski jumper Simon Ammann.

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg198/scaled.php?server=198&filename=toyvoyagers076.jpg&res=landing

From there we took a cable car up the mountain to Alp Sellamatt, 1400 meters above sea level.

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg839/scaled.php?server=839&filename=toyvoyagers010.jpg&res=landing

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg832/scaled.php?server=832&filename=toyvoyagers012.jpg&res=landing

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg6/scaled.php?server=6&filename=toyvoyagers015.jpg&res=landing

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg707/scaled.php?server=707&filename=toyvoyagers018.jpg&res=landing

We had a wonderful view over the valley and the Säntis on the other side.

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg534/scaled.php?server=534&filename=toyvoyagers021.jpg&res=landing

First, we walked along a path called the Sound Trail.

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg845/scaled.php?server=845&filename=toyvoyagers029.jpg&res=landing

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg571/scaled.php?server=571&filename=toyvoyagers033.jpg&res=landing

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg402/scaled.php?server=402&filename=toyvoyagers037.jpg&res=landing

While hiking the sound path you can experience "how stone sounds",

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg705/scaled.php?server=705&filename=toyvoyagers064.jpg&res=landing

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg826/scaled.php?server=826&filename=toyvoyagers065.jpg&res=landing

or feel, how a tree transports sounds, or try out 23 different instruments. It was very funny.

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg209/scaled.php?server=209&filename=toyvoyagers047.jpg&res=landing

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg228/scaled.php?server=228&filename=toyvoyagers050.jpg&res=landing

We also saw pigs.

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg856/scaled.php?server=856&filename=toyvoyagers026.jpg&res=landing

They looked very satisfied.

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg502/scaled.php?server=502&filename=toyvoyagers036.jpg&res=landing

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg502/scaled.php?server=502&filename=toyvoyagers041.jpg&res=landing

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg832/scaled.php?server=832&filename=toyvoyagers042.jpg&res=landing

Later we came to a road that is called Path of Legends.

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg140/scaled.php?server=140&filename=toyvoyagers058.jpg&res=landing

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg222/scaled.php?server=222&filename=toyvoyagers059.jpg&res=landing

An exciting walk taking in several adventure stories, mythical legends and fantastic tales from Toggenburg.

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg713/scaled.php?server=713&filename=toyvoyagers060.jpg&res=landing

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg38/scaled.php?server=38&filename=toyvoyagers061.jpg&res=landing

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg69/scaled.php?server=69&filename=toyvoyagers062.jpg&res=landing

Finally, we have looked at the Luke Chapel.

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg24/scaled.php?server=24&filename=toyvoyagers057.jpg&res=landing

The ecumenical chapel of St. Luke is a few steps above the mountain inn surrounded by ancient firs.

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg145/scaled.php?server=145&filename=toyvoyagers068.jpg&res=landing

This chapel fulfilled family Lötscher a big desire. They named it after their first grandson Luke.  On a stone wall in front of the chapel we marveled once again the beautiful scenery.

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg208/scaled.php?server=208&filename=toyvoyagers054.jpg&res=landing

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg19/scaled.php?server=19&filename=toyvoyagers055.jpg&res=landing

Then we were on our way home.

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg502/scaled.php?server=502&filename=toyvoyagers067.jpg&res=landing

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg35/scaled.php?server=35&filename=toyvoyagers069.jpg&res=landing

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg29/scaled.php?server=29&filename=toyvoyagers072.jpg&res=landing

After another exciting, wonderful day we fell into bed tired.
Bye for today

Hi mum,
Last night there was a thunderstorm and it began to rain. When we woke up this morning, it was still raining. At breakfast, we thought about what we could do today. It looked like a boring day. We sat on the balcony and watched the rain, when we heard a loud murmur. We asked host mum what it is. I show it to you, she said, grabbing us in her bag, took the umbrella and off we went. The way looked familiar, we went to the river Thur. Ooh, what a difference. You remember the romantic gorge?

When we opened the mailbox at home, we found a surprise. A packet.

We were curious to know what's inside.

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg37/scaled.php?server=37&filename=toyvoyagers039.jpg&res=landing

We opened it and out came -  zebra.

Hi mum

Today host mum was very busy. That's why I entertained myself. I climbed the tree houseof the cats.

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg855/scaled.php?server=855&filename=toyvoyagers032.jpg&res=landing

I met a fish.

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg338/scaled.php?server=338&filename=toyvoyagers003.jpg&res=landing

I looked out the window.

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg9/scaled.php?server=9&filename=toyvoyagers023.jpg&res=landing

And I discovered a pool on the balcony.

Hi mum
Sunday we left early. We had a long journey ahead of us. First we went towards Grisons, the easternmost canton of Switzerland. On the Rickenpass we had a great view of Lake Zurich and the Glarus Alps.

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg14/scaled.php?server=14&filename=toyvoyagers001.jpg&res=landing

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg100/scaled.php?server=100&filename=toyvoyagers003c.jpg&res=landing

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg145/scaled.php?server=145&filename=toyvoyagers004.jpg&res=landing

At a rest area on Lake Walen we could consider the Churfirsten from the back.

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg546/scaled.php?server=546&filename=toyvoyagers014.jpg&res=landing

We had fun on a playground

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg9/scaled.php?server=9&filename=toyvoyagers021.jpg&res=landing

and sat on a bench, made specially for us :-)). The inscription means: Here are the little ones, the largest.

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg152/scaled.php?server=152&filename=toyvoyagers019.jpg&res=landing

Next we drove past the Heidiland near Maienfeld and Bad Ragaz.

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg38/scaled.php?server=38&filename=toyvoyagers023.jpg&res=landing

We passed through pretty villages

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg694/scaled.php?server=694&filename=toyvoyagers025.jpg&res=landing

and stopped at a little old bridge.

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg33/scaled.php?server=33&filename=toyvoyagers026.jpg&res=landing

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg38/scaled.php?server=38&filename=toyvoyagers027.jpg&res=landing

This bridge crosses the young Rhine.

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg585/scaled.php?server=585&filename=toyvoyagers031.jpg&res=landing

We drove on

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg829/scaled.php?server=829&filename=toyvoyagers035.jpg&res=landing

and reached the village of Disentis,

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg542/scaled.php?server=542&filename=toyvoyagers036.jpg&res=landing

with his old monastery.

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg40/scaled.php?server=40&filename=toyvoyagers038.jpg&res=landing

There we had lunch. Capuns, a specialty of the Grisons.

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg99/scaled.php?server=99&filename=toyvoyagers044.jpg&res=landing

The mountains were higher and narrower the streets.

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg580/scaled.php?server=580&filename=toyvoyagers046.jpg&res=landing

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg29/scaled.php?server=29&filename=toyvoyagers050v.jpg&res=landing

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg690/scaled.php?server=690&filename=toyvoyagers052.jpg&res=landing

Then we arrived at our first destination, the Oberalp Pass.

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg198/scaled.php?server=198&filename=toyvoyagers053.jpg&res=landing

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg836/scaled.php?server=836&filename=toyvoyagers055.jpg&res=landing

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg198/scaled.php?server=198&filename=toyvoyagers062q.jpg&res=landing

Here rises the Upper Rhine.

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg822/scaled.php?server=822&filename=toyvoyagers065.jpg&res=landing

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg15/scaled.php?server=15&filename=toyvoyagers066.jpg&res=landing

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg826/scaled.php?server=826&filename=toyvoyagers070.jpg&res=landing

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg24/scaled.php?server=24&filename=toyvoyagers075.jpg&res=landing

Next, we visited the Schöllenen canyon with the Devil's Bridge and the Suvorov monument.

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg829/scaled.php?server=829&filename=toyvoyagers092.jpg&res=landing

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg52/scaled.php?server=52&filename=toyvoyagers079.jpg&res=landing

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg684/scaled.php?server=684&filename=toyvoyagers087.jpg&res=landing

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg214/scaled.php?server=214&filename=toyvoyagers097.jpg&res=landing

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg844/scaled.php?server=844&filename=toyvoyagers086.jpg&res=landing

It is reminiscent of the battles between General Suvorov and Napoleon in 1799. We continued on to our next destination,

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg28/scaled.php?server=28&filename=toyvoyagers101.jpg&res=landing

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg209/scaled.php?server=209&filename=toyvoyagers104.jpg&res=landing

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg641/scaled.php?server=641&filename=toyvoyagers106.jpg&res=landing

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg217/scaled.php?server=217&filename=toyvoyagers107.jpg&res=landing

the Klausen Pass, which is 1948 meters high.

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg259/scaled.php?server=259&filename=toyvoyagers117.jpg&res=landing

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg23/scaled.php?server=23&filename=toyvoyagers120.jpg&res=landing

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg706/scaled.php?server=706&filename=toyvoyagers128.jpg&res=landing

The prospect of fresh snow covered mountains was breathtaking.

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg411/scaled.php?server=411&filename=toyvoyagers109.jpg&res=landing

We sat down in a snow rest

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg207/scaled.php?server=207&filename=toyvoyagers130.jpg&res=landing

and enjoyed the sun and the view.

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg502/scaled.php?server=502&filename=toyvoyagers131.jpg&res=landing

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg705/scaled.php?server=705&filename=toyvoyagers136.jpg&res=landing

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg705/scaled.php?server=705&filename=toyvoyagers146.jpg&res=landing

The ride home, we have overslept.

Hugs and kisses for you, mum

Hi mum
This morning host mum has introduced a new family member. He's called Hemming and he is a little wolf. Host mum has found him yesterday in a store. He was so alone on a shelf, there she could not resist and took him. On the balcony, we told him about our travels and adventures.

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg109/scaled.php?server=109&filename=toyvoyagers002.jpg&res=landing

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg40/scaled.php?server=40&filename=toyvoyagers004.jpg&res=landing

He begged until host mum allowed him to be a TV. Hemming told us that he is a friendly wolf. He is only grumpy when he does not get anything sweet. Therefore, we have baked cinnamon buns.

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg89/scaled.php?server=89&filename=toyvoyagers010lgm.jpg&res=landing

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg269/scaled.php?server=269&filename=toyvoyagers018.jpg&res=landing

Better safe than sorry.
That's it for today. Best regards

Hi mum,
Today a new TV arrived. Host mum brought a small package.

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg837/scaled.php?server=837&filename=toyvoyagers002.jpg&res=landing

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg845/scaled.php?server=845&filename=toyvoyagers003.jpg&res=landing

We were all very curious to see what is probably in there. The big cat had to be the first stick their nose into it, as always.

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg831/scaled.php?server=831&filename=toyvoyagers004.jpg&res=landing

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg703/scaled.php?server=703&filename=toyvoyagers005.jpg&res=landing

Then very carefully a little pelican crawled out.

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg217/scaled.php?server=217&filename=toyvoyagers006.jpg&res=landing

We welcomed and embraced him warmly.

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg109/scaled.php?server=109&filename=toyvoyagers008.jpg&res=landing

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg685/scaled.php?server=685&filename=toyvoyagers010.jpg&res=landing

And here he is, our new friend: Sausi Karl.

Hi mum,
Yesterday morning the weather was not really nice, but it was dry. Therefore, we decided to explore the next piece Switzerland. No one betrayed us where it's going.

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg833/scaled.php?server=833&filename=toyvoyagers003.jpg&res=landing

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg207/scaled.php?server=207&filename=toyvoyagers119.jpg&res=landing

After a while we saw a sign: Rhine Falls.

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg823/scaled.php?server=823&filename=toyvoyagers002d.jpg&res=landing

And when angels travel, the sun came out. We parked at the Schloss Laufen and could already hear from afar powerful noise. Through the castle gate

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg19/scaled.php?server=19&filename=toyvoyagers101.jpg&res=landing

we came to the old courtyard with its battlements and arrow slits.

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg194/scaled.php?server=194&filename=toyvoyagers090.jpg&res=landing

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg18/scaled.php?server=18&filename=toyvoyagers091.jpg&res=landing

By a staircase with various viewpoints we came closer and closer to the Rhine Falls.

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg843/scaled.php?server=843&filename=toyvoyagers008.jpg&res=landing

We saw small boats that you can drive to the Rhine Falls. It looked from the top right dangerous.

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg829/scaled.php?server=829&filename=toyvoyagers011.jpg&res=landing

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg145/scaled.php?server=145&filename=toyvoyagers014.jpg&res=landing

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg839/scaled.php?server=839&filename=toyvoyagers016.jpg&res=landing

But the platforms were exciting enough, you could not hear yourself speak, so loud were the water masses, and the water sprayed in your face.

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg515/scaled.php?server=515&filename=toyvoyagers042.jpg&res=landing

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg13/scaled.php?server=13&filename=toyvoyagers044.jpg&res=landing

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg51/scaled.php?server=51&filename=toyvoyagers045.jpg&res=landing

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg843/scaled.php?server=843&filename=toyvoyagers046.jpg&res=landing

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg89/scaled.php?server=89&filename=toyvoyagers056p.jpg&res=landing

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg542/scaled.php?server=542&filename=toyvoyagers057.jpg&res=landing

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg41/scaled.php?server=41&filename=toyvoyagers070.jpg&res=landing

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg341/scaled.php?server=341&filename=toyvoyagers080.jpg&res=landing

Afterwards we looked at a small antique furniture exhibition in the castle.

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg42/scaled.php?server=42&filename=toyvoyagers086.jpg&res=landing

On some chairs felt like a king.

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg254/scaled.php?server=254&filename=toyvoyagers088.jpg&res=landing

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg651/scaled.php?server=651&filename=toyvoyagers098.jpg&res=landing

On the way home through Zurich's wine country we saw huge pumpkins

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg543/scaled.php?server=543&filename=toyvoyagers114.jpg&res=landingand tasted of the grapes.

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg585/scaled.php?server=585&filename=toyvoyagers107.jpg&res=landing

So mum, that's it for today. See you soon.

HiHo mum
Yesterday host mum has started her new job. So we were alone at home. First it was a little boring but then we had a great idea. We play Pirates of the Caribbean. In the kitchen and in the office, we found everything we needed. Chopsticks,

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg9/scaled.php?server=9&filename=toyvoyagers011.jpg&res=landing

trivets, plastic bowls, paper and glue.

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg213/scaled.php?server=213&filename=toyvoyagers018.jpg&res=landing

A pirate flag we printed on the computer.

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg854/scaled.php?server=854&filename=toyvoyagers017.jpg&res=landing

It was hard work, but it was worth it.

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg694/scaled.php?server=694&filename=010lqz.jpg&res=landing

We had lot of fun.

Hi mum,
Today we went to Einsiedeln. Einsiedeln is a small town in the canton of Schwyz, and known for its baroque church and the Black Madonna.

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg72/scaled.php?server=72&filename=toyvoyagers079.jpg&res=landing

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg228/scaled.php?server=228&filename=toyvoyagers054.jpg&res=landing

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg801/scaled.php?server=801&filename=toyvoyagers060.jpg&res=landing

It is also a place of pilgrimage on the Camino. Unfortunately, the photograph is not allowed in the monastery church. Host mum is looking online for a picture, the church is really beautiful,

http://www.einsiedeln.ch/uploads/pics/klosterkirche.jpg

http://blog.snafu.de/managerex/files/2009/03/schwarze-madonna-von-einsiedeln.jpg

you could not tell by the weather, it was foggy, wet and cold. With hot chestnuts, we warmed up a bit.

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg145/scaled.php?server=145&filename=toyvoyagers080.jpg&res=landing

Then we visited the ski jump.

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg819/scaled.php?server=819&filename=toyvoyagers046.jpg&res=landing

It is a plastic covered jump and is used for summer training.

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg248/scaled.php?server=248&filename=toyvoyagers040.jpg&res=landing

Even the students of the high school sports train here.

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg821/scaled.php?server=821&filename=toyvoyagers044.jpg&res=landing

At home host mum has made a special dinner - Raclette.

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg513/scaled.php?server=513&filename=toyvoyagers031.jpg&res=landing

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg94/scaled.php?server=94&filename=toyvoyagers032.jpg&res=landing

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg692/scaled.php?server=692&filename=toyvoyagers033.jpg&res=landing

Melted cheese with potatoes, cucumbers, onions, sweet and sour homemade pumpkin and more.

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg89/scaled.php?server=89&filename=toyvoyagers034k.jpg&res=landing

It tasted wonderful.

Hello mum
This morning we found a well-known envelope on the table. With an address on it. Curious, we tried to figure out where things are headed, and above all who is going to travel.

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg140/scaled.php?server=140&filename=toyvoyagers007.jpg&res=landing

Fiete is the lucky one, he can travel to Finland. At first we were all a bit sad Fiete is leaving us, but we were happy for him too. Hemming had to distract him at the computer,

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg694/scaled.php?server=694&filename=toyvoyagers014.jpg&res=landing

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg820/scaled.php?server=820&filename=toyvoyagers015.jpg&res=landing

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg28/scaled.php?server=28&filename=toyvoyagers017.jpg&res=landing

while we have baked a farewell cake.

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg846/scaled.php?server=846&filename=toyvoyagers002.jpg&res=landing

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg99/scaled.php?server=99&filename=toyvoyagers007.jpg&res=landing

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg696/scaled.php?server=696&filename=toyvoyagers008.jpg&res=landing

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg811/scaled.php?server=811&filename=toyvoyagers009.jpg&res=landing

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg705/scaled.php?server=705&filename=toyvoyagers011.jpg&res=landing

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg195/scaled.php?server=195&filename=toyvoyagers020.jpg&res=landing

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg513/scaled.php?server=513&filename=toyvoyagers021.jpg&res=landing

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg27/scaled.php?server=27&filename=toyvoyagers025s.jpg&res=landing

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg231/scaled.php?server=231&filename=toyvoyagers027.jpg&res=landing

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg404/scaled.php?server=404&filename=toyvoyagers028.jpg&res=landing

Fiete enjoyed immensely.

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg843/scaled.php?server=843&filename=toyvoyagers003.jpg&res=landing

Then he was allowed to fill his belly with fruit. You never know how long the journey lasts. Then he packed up his cap, in Finland it can be very cold, a few sweets and a card of host mum.

Hello mum,

we had not much time to be sad because Fiete is gone. As host mum came from the post she brought a new envelope. As always, we were a bit curious, really just a little bit.

Our new guest called Nils and has traveled from Finland.

Hi mum, today there is not much to report. The weather is bad and we were bored. Host mum made the suggestion to bake waffles. We were immediately impressed. We have put all the ingredients ready and started to stir the dough.

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg255/scaled.php?server=255&filename=toyvoyagers018.jpg&res=landing

Hemming should beat the eggs, but he has thrown the whole. Unfortunately we can not show you all the fun right because host mum's camera is broken. Times it works, sometimes not. Tomorrow she gets a new one. The waffles were great.

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg845/scaled.php?server=845&filename=toyvoyagers026.jpg&res=landing

The first we had to try immediately.

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg826/scaled.php?server=826&filename=toyvoyagers027.jpg&res=landing

After dinner we had waffles with vanilla cream and berries. Too bad that you can not see us, as we feasted.

Hi mum,
Today the weather was beautiful and we visited St.Iddaburg.

In addition, here is a sanctuary. The church we were not able to visit because a wedding was taking place. Best of luck!
The pilgrimage church of St. Iddaburg located where the old Toggenburg in the Middle Ages, the family seat of the Counts of Toggenburg stood. Hi mum,
Host dad has holidays and has suggested that we drive to Lake Constance. At 9 clock in the morning we started. In Lindau, we had a small break and looked around a bit. The weather was gray and foggy at first, but that gave the lake a particular mood. Here you can see the harbor entrance with the lighthouse and the Bavarian lion.

http://imageshack.us/scaled/landing/854/toyvoyagers022.jpg

Also on the harbor is Mangenturm. An old lighthouse, which was from 1180-1300 in operation.

http://imageshack.us/scaled/landing/687/toyvoyagers027.jpg

Beautiful is the old town hall, built 1422.

http://imageshack.us/scaled/landing/191/toyvoyagers005.jpg

http://imageshack.us/scaled/landing/268/toyvoyagers031.jpg

And the city museum.

http://imageshack.us/scaled/landing/685/toyvoyagers045.jpg

Our journey continued to Meersburg. This superb small town is divided into Upper Town and Lower Town. The lower town is on the lake, has a lot of nice restaurants, art shops and wine bars. Here we ate a bite and tasted the new wine.

http://imageshack.us/scaled/landing/402/toyvoyagers059.jpg

By the lakeside promenade

http://imageshack.us/scaled/landing/40/toyvoyagers056.jpg

are palm trees

http://imageshack.us/scaled/landing/705/toyvoyagers070.jpg

and banana trees. You can see the state winery and the Droste-Hulshoff high school.

http://imageshack.us/scaled/landing/687/toyvoyagers060.jpg

We saw some funny souvenirs and handicrafts.

http://imageshack.us/scaled/landing/89/toyvoyagers090p.jpg

This is the lower city gate.

http://imageshack.us/scaled/landing/705/toyvoyagers089.jpg

In the upper town is the old Meersburg.

http://imageshack.us/scaled/landing/211/toyvoyagers051y.jpg

http://imageshack.us/scaled/landing/209/toyvoyagers108.jpg

http://imageshack.us/scaled/landing/850/toyvoyagers095.jpg

In many small, steep streets are beautiful half-timbered houses.

http://imageshack.us/scaled/landing/217/toyvoyagers109.jpg

http://imageshack.us/scaled/landing/577/toyvoyagers115.jpg

On the way home we used the ferry to Konstanz.

http://imageshack.us/scaled/landing/28/toyvoyagers121.jpg

http://imageshack.us/scaled/landing/27/toyvoyagers125.jpg

The wind was cold and the sky was gray,
http://imageshack.us/scaled/landing/441/toyvoyagers130.jpg

but it was a great feeling.
It's late and I'm tired. Goodnight mum

Hi mum,
the weather is atrocious. It rains only once, from morning until evening. But then the doorbell rang, and an envelope was delivered. A new TV. We tried to read the sender but it was strange letters and characters.

http://imageshack.us/scaled/landing/253/toyvoyagers002.jpg

Not even Karl Sausi could read it, and he can write in 4 languages Mum and Dad. Host mum opened the envelope

http://imageshack.us/scaled/landing/196/toyvoyagers003.jpg

and a nice, white little bear looked out anxiously.

http://imageshack.us/scaled/landing/94/toyvoyagers004.jpg

http://imageshack.us/scaled/landing/717/toyvoyagers005.jpg

Shy Meomie told us, Meomie that's her name, she comes from Vietnam.

http://imageshack.us/scaled/landing/835/toyvoyagers006.jpg

http://imageshack.us/scaled/landing/546/toyvoyagers008s.jpg

It is her first trip. Okay, then she obviously can not know what happens when a group of "old TV's" gets an envelope in his paws. The big cat came to greet too, what else

http://imageshack.us/scaled/landing/411/toyvoyagers010.jpg.

Then host mum showed us on the computer where Vietnam is.

http://imageshack.us/scaled/landing/209/toyvoyagers011.jpg

Ooh, a very long journey.

http://imageshack.us/scaled/landing/39/toyvoyagers013.jpg

I hope Meomie feel so well as I do.

Hi mum,
Yesterday we visited host mum's daughter. She is head chef at a hotel on Lake Thun. On our way there we made a short stop at the base of the Pilatus Railway, the steepest cogwheel railway in the world.

http://imageshack.us/scaled/landing/854/toyvoyagers007.jpg

http://imageshack.us/scaled/landing/163/toyvoyagers009.jpg

http://imageshack.us/scaled/landing/844/toyvoyagers014.jpg

Pilatus is good 2000 meters high and the local mountain of Lucerne. We passed on Lungerensee.

http://imageshack.us/scaled/landing/152/toyvoyagers020.jpg

http://imageshack.us/scaled/landing/225/toyvoyagers033.jpg

This lake is very popular with fishermen. Pike, lake trout and whitefish are some of the fish here.

http://imageshack.us/scaled/landing/197/toyvoyagers034.jpg

http://imageshack.us/scaled/landing/824/toyvoyagers044.jpg

http://imageshack.us/scaled/landing/820/toyvoyagers046.jpg

We passed the Brünigpass who disappeared in the fog. The weather was weird anyway. One minute blue skies and sunshine, the next moment a thick fog, like here on Lake Brienz.

http://imageshack.us/scaled/landing/706/toyvoyagers052.jpg

http://imageshack.us/scaled/landing/685/toyvoyagers054.jpg

http://imageshack.us/scaled/landing/9/toyvoyagers055.jpg

We drove on and came to Interlaken, a popular tourist destination. The most famous hotel, the Grand Hotel Victoria - Jungfrau.

http://imageshack.us/scaled/landing/845/toyvoyagers067.jpg

This under monument protection hotel began as a Guesthouse Victoria. A few years later the neighboring Hotel Jungfrau was bought. Both houses were then connected with a central part. In good weather, you have a great view of the Jungfrau massif with the Eiger, Monch and Jungfrau. We saw only fog.

http://imageshack.us/scaled/landing/856/toyvoyagers066.jpg

On partial adventurous roads

http://imageshack.us/scaled/landing/29/toyvoyagers076.jpg

http://imageshack.us/scaled/landing/715/toyvoyagers077m.jpg

http://imageshack.us/scaled/landing/37/toyvoyagers079.jpg

we reached the Lake of Thun. Here the weather meant something better with us.

http://imageshack.us/scaled/landing/41/toyvoyagers074.jpg

http://imageshack.us/scaled/landing/268/toyvoyagers080.jpg

http://imageshack.us/scaled/landing/840/toyvoyagers089.jpg

We hung around in the garden of the hotel

http://imageshack.us/scaled/landing/21/toyvoyagers105.jpg

and had a good view of the lake and the mountains.

http://imageshack.us/scaled/landing/99/toyvoyagers094.jpg

http://imageshack.us/scaled/landing/22/toyvoyagers103.jpg

On the way home we had to drive the long way because on the highway, an accident happened. But without this detour we would have missed this evening atmosphere.

it's me again. A new TV has arrived.

A little rat named Twix.

http://imageshack.us/scaled/landing/339/toyvoyagers016.jpg

and gave him a group hug.

Hi mum,
Yesterday we made a trip to Klosters and Davos. The weather was cloudy and cold. We needed something to warm up. Thick skin and hot coffee was the right thing.

http://imageshack.us/scaled/landing/821/pa130010.jpg

Klosters is a small village

http://imageshack.us/scaled/landing/528/pa130011.jpg

with hotels, hotels, hotels. Some pretty, some not.

http://imageshack.us/scaled/landing/37/pa130017.jpg

Then we drove on to Davos, the highest town in Europe. Host mum finds Davos ugly. Too many ugly buildings in this wonderful scene. This is the main street of Davos.

http://imageshack.us/scaled/landing/834/pa130045t.jpg

Here you see the convention center.

http://imageshack.us/scaled/landing/547/pa130036.jpg

It annually hosts the World Economic Forum. This is the ice hockey stadium.

http://imageshack.us/scaled/landing/109/pa130034.jpg

Every year between Christmas and New Year, the Spengler Cup is played.

Here we pose in front of the Hilton hotel.

http://imageshack.us/scaled/landing/405/pa130044.jpg

The most beautiful thing we saw in Davos was this small lake.

http://imageshack.us/scaled/landing/843/toyvoyagers003u.jpg

Because we all wanted to see the snow, host dad drove to the Flüela Pass.

http://imageshack.us/scaled/landing/23/pa130051.jpg

You can see how high it is?

http://imageshack.us/scaled/landing/839/toyvoyagers014.jpg

The snow was very close, but it melts during the day.

http://imageshack.us/scaled/landing/259/pa130066e.jpg

It's still a bit too warm. Whoa, too warm. It was 3 degrees. The pass looks like a moonscape.

http://imageshack.us/scaled/landing/189/pa130073.jpg

Only stones and boulders fields.

http://imageshack.us/scaled/landing/600/pa130078.jpg

http://imageshack.us/scaled/landing/402/pa130083.jpg

http://imageshack.us/scaled/landing/197/pa130084.jpg

http://imageshack.us/scaled/landing/641/pa130090.jpg

http://imageshack.us/scaled/landing/811/pa130093.jpg

http://imageshack.us/scaled/landing/84/pa130099.jpg

Slightly lower down, we saw the most beautiful larch forests.

http://imageshack.us/scaled/landing/834/pa130104.jpg

http://imageshack.us/scaled/landing/402/pa130116.jpg

Golden Autumn. This newly built bridge

http://imageshack.us/scaled/landing/585/pa130121.jpg

took us back home.

Hope you are well, miss you.

Sorry for so much fingers, host mum has a new camera, she is learning.

Hello mum,
Today we were in Quinten,

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/PA180293_zps6a0dd47d.jpg

a small village on the northern shore of  Walensee. This really small village (about 60 people) can only be reached by boat or on foot.
We took the boat.

there grow palms

and figs.

The Foehn wind blew very strong, almost 70 kilometers per hour.

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/PA180253_zps7a17364e.jpg

Hello all at home,

Our last trip was to the Principality of Lichtenstein.

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/PA130126_zps0527acd8.jpg

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/PA130127_zpsa276348f.jpg

In Vaduz, the capital, we saw the town hall.

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/PA130132_zps0c3b7d8d.jpg

It was built in 1932/33. The castle was built in the 13th Century and serves as the residence of the royal family.

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/PA130139_zps71b15bfe.jpg

Therefore it can not be visited. We saw a miniature of the castle.

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/PA130146_zpsfb2fab94.jpg

The Principality is also very famous for its stamps. In the pedestrian zone known examples are shown for road paving. Here you see the special stamp in honor of the wedding of the crown prince.

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/PA130147_zpsbb2da9a9.jpg

Lichtenstein is also known for its banks. Here is the National Bank.

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/PA130148_zpsdc8cd429.jpg

This building is home to the parliament.

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/PA130162_zpsed2d4d2d.jpg

On our way home we had a great view over the Rhine Valley.

Hi all,
When we woke up this morning our host mum said we should look out the window.

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/PA280367.jpg

Snow! Over night snow had fallen and it still snows. We immediately went out onto the balcony.

What a beauty.

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/PA280377.jpg

Meomie has never seen snow. She was almost mad with joy.  After we played a few times in the snow, our host mum called back to the apartment. They pulled us out of the wet clothes and grabbed us in a warm blanket.

We admired art. One of them wanted to eat me

Then we visited the show dairy.

Here we could see how Appenzeller cheese is made.

Then we lay in the bed of the dairy maid.

Hello mum

as host mum came home from work, she brought an envelope.

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/PB130581.jpg

We were very curious, as always. The envelope was nibbled.

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/PB130582.jpg

A corner was missing.

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/PB130583.jpg

The Post had noticed it and pulled a transparent cover over it.

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/PB130584.jpg

When we opened all the envelopes, came out a little rabbit.

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/PB130585.jpg

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/PB130586.jpg

We introduced ourselves and embraced.

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/PB130587.jpg

Lola was very pleased to welcome a little rabbit.

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/PB130588.jpg

Then we had to take a nap. Two birthday parties make successively tired. I think we will have lots of fun with bunny.

Bye for now

Hello mum and all at home,

One week it was gray and damp. Today we had enough of the fog and decided to look for the sun. The Tannenbodenalp was the destination of our excursion. The Alp is located about 1400 meters above sea level. It should be high enough for the sun. After a few minutes driving time we saw the sea of fog below us.

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/PC070952.jpg

Hello back home
after three weeks of rain (host mother can not remember such a terrible winter) we were finally able to back outside. No sun but dry. We all wanted to play in the snow. And for snow we had up high, very high. Sledding on Schwägalp was funny.

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/P1061351_zps58d5875f.jpg

Then host mum had the idea of visiting the Santis.

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/P1061365_zps7cab0f0a.jpg

So we took the cable car and were on our way to Säntis peak.

On Saturday we will have a great trip. Host mum will not tell us where we go. All we know is that we take the train, and the rest is a surprise.
I can not wait.

Hello mommy
Yesterday morning we had to get up very early. At 7 clock we sat on the train.

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/P1121570_zps12eb5450.jpg

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/P1121561_zps680b5e92.jpg

Our first stop was Zurich. There, we had just enough time to photograph the station

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/P1121471_zpsdfa09cd8.jpg

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/P1121462_zpsdd2e1498.jpg

and to find out where the journey takes. We will travel to Basel. Basel is one of the oldest cities in Switzerland, located on the River Rhine. The city, near the border with Germany and France is known for its chemical industry. After our arrival in Basel,

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/P1121474_zpsa730f3b0.jpg

we saw only a few steps from the train station Strasbourg Monument

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/P1121480_zpsfd32a29a.jpg

and the Bank for International Settlements.

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/P1121481_zps352d5568.jpg

Our route took us to Elisabeth church

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/P1121496_zps4fe1d922.jpg

next to the Theatre. We had a short break at the Tinguely fountain.

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/P1121505_zps4fa7e53b.jpg

This fountain, called Fasnacht Fountain was a gift of a great food discounter to the city of Basel.

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/P1121506_zpsaa423b41.jpg

Then we saw the Basel Cathedral,

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/P1121508_zps37c34a59.jpg

located on the cathedral hill high above the Rhine. We had a magnificent view of the river and part of the city.

The skyscrapers that you see in the center of the image, is the fair tower.

Through narrow streets

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/P1121520_zps8b2b4ae6.jpg

we found our way to the river Rhine. We crossed the "Middle Bridge" and could see the old town from the other side.

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/P1121525_zpsfabceb31.jpg

On our way back we saw the red city hall.

It was built in 1504-1514. After these many impressions we were exhausted and slept through the journey home. I hope you like Basel as much as I.

Hello mum,
Troot left us today. He traveled further to new adventures in another part of Switzerland. We had a small farewell party with cupcakes.

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/P1161571_zpsfc719543.jpg

Host dad had secretly eaten a TV Muffin, therefore Troot had to eat a big one.

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/P1161573_zpsa4ad51e8.jpg

Then he packed his things and slipped into the envelope. We all wished him a good trip

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/P1161579_zps8875b222.jpg

and checked that everything was in order.

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/P1161587_zps50418e4d.jpg

After his departure, some of us also grabbed the wanderlust. We have told a long time from our travels.
Love you mum, bye bye.

Hello home
Yesterday we had another farewell party. HelgaHH will travel back home, and Rocky Raccoon starts his first journey. Host mum baked a cake and took a group photo.

As long as one can show us yet, she said. Then we ate cake

and potato chips and crackers. We drank one or another glass of wine.

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/P1221666_zps0350b4a0.jpg

Late at night we came upon a sentimental mood. Hase sang with fervor sad songs

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/P1221671_zpsdbe8027c.jpg

until host mum woke up and reminded us that even more people live in this house who want to sleep now. We had a last drink

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/P1221670_zps12e9097e.jpg

and went to bed.
This morning it was time. We said goodbye to HelgaHH and Rocky. We  gave both a group hug

Yoohoo,
Today a new TV arrived. A sweet dog named Wolley. He is from Guinea and will spend some time with us.
We sat in our basket and told and laughed when suddenly a pointy nose sniffed over the edge.

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/P1251674_zps8ca45058.jpg

It was Wolley, who had just arrived. We welcomed him kindly.

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/P1251675_zps16f6be1b.jpg

As he slept, he was very tired after his journey, we decided to cook a soup for him. A hot soup would be the right on such a cold day. We had a lot to do. Chop bacon,

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/P1251680_zps611dbee5.jpg

onions and lots of vegetables into small pieces. Fry the bacon and onions.

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/P1251685_zps91f38f70.jpg

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/P1251686_zpsa79e06ff.jpg

Barley and small white beans are added. Then fill with meat broth. And then - charging the battery of the camera. After 1 1/2 hours, we added in the vegetables, stirred,

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/P1251701_zps0360f812.jpg

and let cook for another 30 minutes.
For dinner, we enjoyed a delicious soup.

Hello mum,
the weather is going crazy. On Wednesday the sun was shining (as host mum had to work) and it was 14 degrees. Then we had bucketfuls of rain and storm. This morning it started to snow again. Within ten minutes everything was white. No chance to go outside. And then the bad luck, host mum has a torn ligament in the foot. Dolivia, she is a pharmacy TV gives us instructions on how we have to maintain host mum.

Hi mum,
Last night we bet that we are going to have Wednesday's weather. We won. Wednesday's weather means good weather in the morning when host mum works and rain, snow, storm or doomsday when she comes home. Every Wednesday, the same game. But today, something was different. Host mum brought an envelope. We are all long enough TV's to know what that means. A new guest has arrived. Host mum opened the envelope. Curious, we stuck our noses into it.

A small, green turtle looked towards us a little bit shy.

Cosily the turtle climbed out and introduced himself.

Hello to all the loved ones at home,
Finally, after many days of bad weather, the sun is shining today. Host mum immediately grabbed us and we went on a winter walk. First we drove a short distance by car.

But then we enjoyed the sun, the fresh air and the beautiful view.

through narrow gorges

which could be seen in the deep snow barely.

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/P2141953_zps94b2feb3.jpg

An adventure! On our way we saw the sign to the waterfall. The road, really just a path is a little dangerous. Narrow, steep and icy in the winter. We begged so much until host mum gave her ok. First she checked the phone connection. (In case we need the fire brigade or the helicopter to get us out.) Then it went off.

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/P2141947_zps05a8e118.jpg

From time to time our heart beat a little faster.

And then we saw the waterfall is an icefall now.

She got a huge cake, a big lollipop and a little sheep. All kissed and hugged her and wished her all the best.

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/P3032055_zpse860f189.jpg

Then she blew out the candle

and cut the cake.

Hello mum,
I hope you are well. Today we are preparing another farewell party. Dolivia will leave us and go to Greece. With our new Shopping Cart

(Jasper brought it last week)) we plundered all the cupboards and found much useful for a party.

Hello mum,
As Jasper came home from work today, she packed us into her bag and off we went. Not five minutes later, she opened the bag and sunshine streamed in. We saw a small path that looked pretty beat from all the snow.

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/P3222220_zps618d8933.jpg

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/P3222228_zps9f8f7943.jpg

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/P3222232_zps16a5e3cf.jpg

But on closer inspection we found things that make hope for spring.

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/P3222253_zps3692f277.jpg

The weather was beautiful but the wind is still cold

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/P3222256_zps9bc1acc7.jpg

and the snow is still near.

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/P3222270_zps5c7ff032.jpg

We saw a really old apple tree with mistletoe.

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/P3222279_zps55234057.jpg

Huge, felled trees

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/P3222286_zps4b4985c0.jpg

and snowdrops.

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/P3222290_zps090dd723.jpg

And then we took a sunbath.

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/P3222306_zpsd067f2be.jpg

It felt so good.
In the hope of more sun I send you greetings

Hello mum,
we are all pretty frustrated. After last week, it looked a bit like spring, winter reigns again. Jasper will be crazy, slowly but surely. Yesterday we tried to bring some spring mood in the house.

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/P3262308_zps4fb7f277.jpg

Jasper bought everything that looked like Easter and warm weather, and we built and decorated it into a indoor garden.

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/P3262325_zps1b15d953.jpg

I think we succeeded.

Due to bad weather (snow again) we must search the Easter Bunny in the apartment. We searched long and found plenty. Everywhere chocolate bunnies, eggs and other sweets were hidden.

Hello mum,
we can take pictures again. Right after Easter, the cat had thrown the camera from the table. She was broken. Not that you had missed something. The weather was as usual - bad. Jasper had bought us a small bench so that we can enjoy the sun on the balcony. What sun? We now sit in the dining room under the Easter tree.

Hello,
Today a new TV arrived. Jasper brought a heavy package and we were very excited to see what or who is in it.

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/P4122502_zpsbe34d5e9.jpg

The first thing was a postcard,

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/P4122503_zps955604c1.jpg

then came sweets

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/P4122504_zps9310d675.jpg

and then a bunch of money.

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/P4122505_zps67652dde.jpg

The last climbed out a small panda bear.

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/P4122506_zps1c9be828.jpg

We greeted her warmly and introduced ourselves.

Two days ago I was sitting on the balcony in the sun.

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/P4202628_zpsb8760be8.jpg

I could not believe it. Overnight it had snowed again, 10 cm.

Hello mum
Last weekend Jasper promised a special trip for Thursday, when the weather is good - really good. So we kept our fingers crossed for the whole week, but the weather forecast was not promising. Host dad decided: We try.
Thursday: Get up 5 clock in the morning, Departure 1 hour later. Much too early for TV's. Therefore, we slept on during the car ride.
As Jasper woke us the next time we were in Interlaken train station. The ticket showed us: We travel to the Jungfraujoch. To the highest train station in Europe. The first train took us to Grindelwald

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/P5092815_zps8a6c72de.jpg

at the foot of the Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau, the well-known mountains in the Bernese Oberland. There, we changed the train to Kleine Scheidegg, the starting point for the trekkers climbing the Eiger North Face.
Here you see this notorious mountain wall, which has so many climbers cost their lives.

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/P5092827_zpse30da0a4.jpg

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/P5092820_zps30209273.jpg

Next, we boarded the red train to the Jungfraujoch.

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/P5092821_zps2e704397.jpg

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/P5092828_zps2b66c27b.jpg

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/P5092831_zps8a08cd26.jpg

This train is required in addition to the normal rails a gear to overcome the steep climbs.

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/P5092836_zps96913cd7.jpg

As the train travels most of the time in tunnels, there are several breakpoints on the line with windows. From there you can admire famous places.
Our first stop, and also the last outside of the tunnel, was Eigergletscher.

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/TV1/P5092846_zpsed44e79f.jpg

From the once mighty glacier is not much left.

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/TV1/P5092847_zpsb0705875.jpg

The next stop was Eigerwand.

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/TV1/P5092861_zpsafc207b6.jpg

The view from the middle of the Eiger North Wall was breathtaking.

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/TV1/P5092854_zps9a52f126.jpg

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/TV1/P5092856_zps2d46a606.jpg

The last stop is called Eismeer. Here you can see the glacier crashes between Eiger and Mönch.

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/TV1/P5092872_zpsc768f96c.jpg

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/TV1/P5092873_zps061fe04a.jpg

Then we reached the highest station in Europe. 3454 meters above sea level. It was too dark to make pictures. We took the elevator to the Sphinx. 117 meters in 26 seconds. The Sphinx is a research station and an observatory. In 1996, the observation deck was opened. On clear days one has a fantastic view.

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/TV1/P5092898_zpse3e628ee.jpg

This mountain is called Mönch and is 4107 meters (13475ft.) high.

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/TV1/P5092897_zpse22257fb.jpg

This is the Sphinx.

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/TV1/P5092907_zpsa2b1d19d.jpg

It was very stormy. Through this wind changed fog, clouds and a clear view in seconds - unbelievable. Then we took a walk on the Aletsch Glacier.

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/TV1/P5092918_zps0771529a.jpg

This glacier is the largest of the Alps in terms of area and almost 23 kilometers long. The ice flows at a speed of 180 meters per year towards the Rhone. On Konkordiaplatz the ice thickness is about 900 meters. We were not allowed to leave the path of the glacier under any circumstances. Right and left there are deep crevasses - life threatening. But the outlook was fantastic. This is the Jungfraujoch.

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/TV1/P5092925_zpsdebcc8d0.jpg

If you look closely, you see at the top  the Sphinx - quite small they stuck to the rock.
This is a big glacier demolition.

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/TV1/P5092930_zpsc8191a8c.jpg

Then we marveled at various exhibitions.

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/TV1/P5092933_zps2233c6ef.jpg

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/TV1/P5092938_zps81315b10.jpg

Then it was time for the return journey. Everyone was tired and fell asleep on the train - we also. In Kleine Scheidegg we changed train,

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/TV1/P5092971_zpsca6a5aef.jpg

took one last look at the Eiger and Jungfraujochbahn and went on to Wengen.

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/TV1/P5092973_zpsc686a3b7.jpg

This place is famous because of the Lauberhorn downhill skiing. We were looking for the famous ski run - but without snow?

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/TV1/P5092982_zps8d63f16f.jpg

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/TV1/P5092989_zpsdda21b85.jpg

We have not found. The rest of the way we slept in Jasper's pocket.

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/TV1/P5092972_zps8de416af.jpg

We were all very tired - but what an adventure.

Jasper introduced us. Ismaya is the name of the hippo and he comes from Bali, Indonesia. It rattles with the teeth because it is so cold here. This morning it was 7 degrees.
Then Ismaya showed us his gifts.

Hello mom,
Today was time to say goodbye. To say goodbye to my friends, Switzerland and Jasper. Not easy after almost ten months I have spent here.
As a farewell we celebrated a little tea party with cucumber sandwiches and scones and of course tea.
