Dear world!
Today we had a great day! It was sunny but cold! So we decided to hike to the Staffelberg. We saw the great landscape and learned a lot about the animals and flowers that lives here. It was very cold at my head, so Yosi gave me her cap. Very comfortable! Ohhh, how hungry the hike makes! We had a lunch, called "half and half". It is curd cheese and salt junk. I tasted both We had "stollen" for dessert. After that we saw a few nice rock, ideal for climbing! Billy goats love to climb, so I do, too! What a exciting exkursion! I found my own little christmas tree! In the evening we made a trip to the christmas market. I had a brandy punch and a galettes. Now I need my bed |

Tonight we heard some other toys in the postoffice in other packages, so it was not so boring. I don't know, if you can see me, it was very dark bye bye I'll call you when I'm arrived Twixx |

Hi mum,
the last two days I've experienced so much that I had no time to write you. yesterday I was totally happy to get a real letter from you Mofi, the Officemäusle immediately forwarded it to me. It's so nice that you have thought of me. Unfortunately, I am supposed to open it only on Xmas Day I am really excited to see what you've sent me, only 2 more nights of sleep and I can open presents, yeahhh! Today we were on a medieval Christmas market in Esslingen It was great - the exhibitors were also medievally dressed Here are a few pictures of it. Because it was so dark, the pictures are unfortunately somewhat blurred or maybe it is because we ate some meat stuffed hemp bread with hemp seeds, maybe it made the photographer a bit dizzy. love you |

Hello Mom,
This morning I invited my best friend Baerle to check out his new cup at breakfast, which he has been given by you Later we have decorated our Toy-Christmas-Tree together. I was decorating the tree according to my wishes but the tree was too big for me so I needed support from Bubble and Violet The tinsel was very crazy at me and remained hanging everywhere For hanging the light chain Baerle helped me. Now the Christmas tree is ready, so the Christ Child can come twixx |

hey mum,
Today we went mountain biking. I especially got a Toyvoyagers-Mountainbike, but I was too slow so we decided that I must ride with my host. My Host was very fast so the ride was so shaky that I was scared and was screaming from time to time. But afterwards i think it was really fun. On the way back we drove past the grave chapel of Queen Katherina on the Rotenberg, where she was buried. At the End of the ride, we had very yummy banana milkshake at home. See you. twixx |

Hi Mom and everybody!
I arrived here in Finland couple of days ago. I was little tired and my host was working so I just been relaxing. But today I was ready to see snowy Finland. And boy, there is plenty of that stuff here, as you can see. There are huge piles of snow at my host’s backyard. We took a little walk in small forest nearby. I even made some snow angels. It was fun, but little cold. I’m sure I will enjoy my stay here, you will hear from me soon again. Love you Mom! Twixx PS: Susanna loves chocolate, and sends many thanks for Twix bars, we ate them already She really like postcard too |

Hi Mom!
Guess what? I was in the book fair with my host. Lahti book fair is much much smaller event than Helsinki Book fair, but quite nice anyway. And I got the chance to see famous concert hall The Sibelius Hall.
We have fun and Susanna bought books (even thought she don’t know, where to put them). She also bought pack of tarot cards. So now we are learning to make “prophecies”… Hugs to you Mom! Twixx |

Hi Mom!
It has been veeeeeery quiet around here, my host has either been at work or studying. But yesterday weather was nice, so we decided, it was time to get some fresh air. We walked to lake nearby. You might have seen pictures of that lake in others Voyagers travel logs. Susanna asked me, if I want to walk on ice. And of course I wanted. Look how far from beach we walked. Actually it’s not dangerous at all, ice is still quite thick (but it’s getting thinner and thinner). After our walk, I played at snow again. I even built a little snowman, very nice, don’t you think? Next Sunday Susanna is working alone at her department and she asked me to come with her and keep her company. So “see you at work” Kisses Mom! Twixx |

Hello!
Yesterday was very interesting and busy day. I went to work with my host. My host works at music library. Mom, I have never seen so many CD’s. Susanna told me, that they have about 44 000 CD’s all together. I even found some old German music. They have lots of books related to music and sheet music too. They also have two soundproof piano rooms, where patrons can practice playing. But Mom, if we ever get a piano, can it be little smaller? I also take a quick look downstairs, where all the books are. At coffee break, we of course have my favorite snack. If you take a close look at coffee mug, you can see character from popular Finnish comic; Cursing Hedgehog. Comic is about Ostrobothnian hedgehog, who is always very angry, but also very funny. This Friday we are heading Seinäjoki at Ostrobothnia, maybe I meet Cursing Hedgehog…. Love you Mom! Twixx |

Hi Mom!
Last Friday my host took me with her to Seinäjoki, where she visits once a month to do her studies. We have quite a busy day, but we manage to take couple of photos. You can see me front of Seinäjoki railway station and also our train. It takes about three hours to travel from Lahti to Seinäjoki. And of course we took a photo at Susanna’s school. Last photo you can see (if you take a close look) famous church called Lakeuden Risti. We both were really tired, when we finally got back home. It’s raining here, spring is coming. Love you Mom! Twixx PS: Didn’t see any hedgehogs, they all are still hibernating even the Cursing one. |

Hi Mom!
Last Thursday we went to Seinäjoki…to study…again. I will be very educated soon, and be able start to work at our local library Mom. I’m also quite familiar with railroad system here in Finland. And now here are few photos of our travel. First Seinäjoki railway station from other angle, then inside the waiting room. I had my own seat at train, although I didn’t pay for the ticket. My host also tried to take picture of landscape, but the train was moving too fast. One picture from Lahti railway station. At home, we got treats; cake pops yummy! Love you Mom! Twixx PS: In next update you will see how much we ate at Eastern… |

Hi Mom!
First my host wants to apologize, because we haven’t update sooner. She had little problems with internet connections. But here are pictures of our Eastern holiday. We didn’t do anything special, but relaxed and had good food. Well…at Easter Sunday we had meal like this; lamb, garlic potatoes and blackcurrant jam. I didn’t like to eat lamb (Susanna quite understand that). But potatoes and jam were good. Susanna really is no friend of Finnish deserts mämmi (you understand why, if you google pictures of mämmi) or pasha. But she loves pastries and chocolate, so we had lots of those. Even this bunny, which was bigger than me. I like those little chocolate figures more. Almost all snow is gone and it’s raining a lot. Hope we can go outside soon. Love you Mom! Twixx |

While you read this I’m already way to my next host. But here are few photos of my last trip with Susanna. We went to Tampere, work related trip this time. We haven’t much time to take pictures, but here is couple. First Lahti bus station. Yes, we went by bus this time. Then Tampere main library called Metso (capercaillie). And then view from bridge of Tammerkoski. Trip was busy and bus is not as comfortable as train, but it was nice to take quick look of Tampere. Last time from Finland Twixx. |

Hello Mum,
This is going to be a long update with many photos! Today, we went to Portmeirion, an italianette village used in the 1960s cult TV series, The Prisoner. The village was designed by Clough Ellis, and most of the buildings have Grade II listed status. This is the Gate House. This is a mural inside the Gate House arch, painted by Hans Nathan Feibusch from Germany. We descended down some steps by the Gate House. That's the Hotel on the beach. We are inside the grotto. The Observatory Tower is down there by the sea. A look along the coast. There's the hotel and the Observatory Tower again. A view from the shore up to the village. Admiral Nelson! A view next to the Observatory Tower. We walked back via the woodland trail, coming across a stump with tuppence pieces in it. It looks quite pretty! This is the Lighthouse A pond and the Mermaid. There's the Bell Tower. The Bristole Colonnade, and The Pantheon (the Green Dome, in The Prisoner where Number 2 could often be found). This is the Piazza, with the building at the end called The Gloriette. Another view of the Bristol Colonnade. The Bell Tower again. Another statue. View from near the Pantheon, of the Bell Tower and other buildings. St Peter is on the balcony of the Toll House. The Pantheon is up there. The Colonnade again. And now it is time to go home. |

Number 6 has just looked out of his window. There he is. An aerial view of the green dome Another aerial view. Rover in The Piazza. Another aerial view. |

Hi Mum,
Today, we went to The Centre for Alternative Technology near Machynlleth. First, we rode in the train up the cliff to the top. This display shows carbon dioxide emissions for food production. A pond with the frog A little allotment garden, with crimson-flowered broad beans. A dolls house with electrical gadgets. This display allows you to see how much energy is wasted by leaving things on, or on standby. They haven't heard of ToyVoyagers! A little garden with things growing in sinks and toilet bowls. Solar panel, we can position it... and increase the amount of light hitting the panel. We are in the polytunnel. They have some grape vines. They also have flowers and other plants. Herbs! Thyme! Lizzy Lizard is in the mint. There is a solar panel roof. There is a course currently for people wanting to know more about solar panels. A mole! and its tunnel. Comparing different energy and power. Bee hive! Anatomy of a bee! Honey bees. Dancing bees (waggle dance). The Queen Bee lays eggs in a wax cell. A wind powered seat. A metal plate, painted dark, insulation behind, and then covered in glass. A turbine. Blades for a wind turbine get attached to this thing. Now it is time to go. |

The Torch is coming, the Olympic Flame is coming. There's a procession first With the corporate sponsors getting us in the mood to see the Torch any minute now... More police on motorbikes. There it is, trust my host to have it out of focus! There it goes, can you see the flame? |
||
miapearl Posted Jun 1, 2012, 1:02 pm |
Hi Mum,
We have another chance to see the Flame. Should be here any minute now. Looks camoflaged in the "fold" of the building. Can see the Flame better. And there it goes. |

Today, we went to see a castle.
This is Beeston Castle, in Cheshire. we are resting on the outer bailey, or wall, looking across the Cheshire countryside. A view along the wall And a view up the hill to the castle. I made it up the hill, and am now in the castle The castle was partially demolished in the Civil War. A good view all around (weather permitting). The castle was built on sandstone rock, in the 13th century. |

Today, we've come to Anderton Boat Lift.
This is the top of the boat lift. That's what it looks like from the side. We are on a boat trip. Taking a brief tour of the River Weaver Navigation system. Pleasant cruise! Then we got to go on the boat lift. We are coming off the lift and cruising onto the canal. Then, we had another look at the boat lift. And tried the maze made from counterweights. And here we all are at the centre of the maze. |
||
miapearl Posted Jun 28, 2012, 5:49 pm |
We are in Llandudno today because last week, after visiting the Anderton Boat Lift, we stopped off at the theatre in Llandudno, for my host's son and husband to see a show. My host left a bag there, and only discovered it was missing yesterday.
It was a sunny day and we had a little rest on the promenade outside the theatre, after she got her bag back. The sea looks calm. |

We are in Porthmadog to ride the Welsh Highland Railway.
We are on the train, just leaving the station. The engine pulls us out of the station, but then has to switch ends to pull us in another direction. Porthmadog has an estuary, with a tidal island. And inland, are some hills and mountains of Snowdonia in the distance. We are going across the Cob, built to cross the estuary. This is the River Glaslyn that runs out at Porthmadog. A hill. Moel Hebog, from Beddgelert station We are moving again. And on we go. We have stopped off in Rhyd Ddu. We can take a look at the engine. Can you see the top of Mount Snowdon? Snowdon is the highest mountain in Wales. And on we go. We are approaching another station. That engine is called Caernarfon Castle. |
||
miapearl Posted Jun 28, 2012, 7:20 pm |
We have arrived back in Caernarfon
The train will go back to Porthmadog. There's Caernarfon Castle. |

Hello from Germany Mummy!
Today I was woken up by talking outside my envelope. It sounded like excited voices. Someone was begging someone else to open my envelope and it felt as if something sprang onto the envelope! Then the envelope was opened and I still couldn't see anything except for something big and blue. Luckily the big blue thing could talk and seemed friendly enough. So I climbed out into the light. Turns out the big blue thing is also a TV. His name is Scritches and he is very nice. Because we instantly started talking about my adventures I nearly forgot what my previous host had put into my envelope with me so I wouldn't be completely alone and had something to get my mind off of my boring journey. I showed the postcard to Scritches and Katharina (who by the way says thank you ). Then Scritches and I continued talking way into the night. And Katharina told me she would take me outside and show me around once the weather got better and she could move her arm again (she got a booster shot at the doctor's today). I'm excited for new adventures here! Love you Mummy! Twixx |
||
-[Dino]- Posted Jul 12, 2012, 8:40 pm |
Good morning Mummy! *yawn*
It's still way too early... But I have a job to do! Since Katharina had gotten a booster shot yesterday at the doctor's her arm hurt and she couldn't really move it. But because she had another doctor's appointment this morning at an eye specialist and they had drawn a blsod sample and hadn't managed to put a strong enough cover over the spot it looked kind of *eeew*. So we helped her put a band aid over it. Look Mummy, I'm a big boy and could safely cut off a little piece of the big band aid Scritches held down. Together we pulled off the sticky parts and put in on the spot. After Katharina had left I could go back to sleep. *zzzz* |

Hello Mummy!
Since Katharina said we would go out once the weather got better I was watching the weather closely. But look what it looked like outside. Aaaaall day loooong!! *sigh* And probably for the next days, too... Stereotypical British weather in Germany. And here I was thinking I had left the island... Keep your fingers crossed for the weather to get better soon!! Love you Mummy! <3 |
||

Mummy,
it's still raining here! This summer is very wet... Hope it will get better soon! |
||
-[Dino]- Posted Aug 4, 2012, 8:38 pm |
Mummy,
it's so boring here because we can't go out! So we tried some acrobatics to pass some time! Look at what we can do! I showed Scritches how a headstand is done and then I he tried it himself. Look! Now we can both do neat headstands! And yes, sometimes we fell, but we had so much fun!! Love you mummy! <3 |
||
-[Dino]- Posted Aug 4, 2012, 8:42 pm |
To make things even worse Katharina had a lot of studying to do for an oral exam in two days.
We wanted to study, too. But tell you what, studying is soooo boring! Even worse than rain! So we decided to read a book instead. Katharina recommended the one she is reading at the moment to us. I liked it. And it's definitely better than studying! The only good thing about studing is that there are always cookies or some other type of sweets around. Yummy! Talk to you soon mummy! Twixx <3 |
||
-[Dino]- Posted Aug 4, 2012, 8:46 pm |
Hi Mummy!
Today Katharina had her oral exam. We kept our paws crossed the whole time! And ourselves, too for that matter. (Katharina's nice handbag is very small if you want to take two TVs around. ) Because the exam went really well we went into town afterwards to take some more pictures. First we saw these men climbing up the house! Then we went on to a part of town where they kept some of the old buildings. We couldn't get any closer because the gate was closed unfortunately... But we saw a nice windmill and wanted to go there until we realised it was only painted on the wall. A job very well done! After that we went to see the theater and the cinema! Katharina said the cinema is very nice and has nice prizes for students on special days of the week. On the way back to the city center we also came across this lovely old building where some lawyers are located today! When we came back into the city center we saw a miniature replica of the city of Hildesheim. It was very nice to look at. And mummy look how big we were in comparison to the wee buildings! (By the way this replica shows Hildesheim in 1641. What a loooong time ago! ) Our last stop was the Zuckerhut building. It looks very nice and unique! But since two hours had passed and it was getting quite late we cut our sightseeing short because we were getting veeery hungry and had still to decide where to get dinner... |
||
-[Dino]- Posted Aug 4, 2012, 8:50 pm |
After getting home we immediately had dinner. We were sooo hungry by then!
We decided to get a nice sandwich from Subway and a Coke to celebrate Katharina's success today. It was really yummy!! After dinner we headed straight to bed. It had been a very long and exciting day for us all! Hope all's well at home! Talk to you soon! Love you mummy! Twixx |

Hi Mummy!
Today I'm writing from Bonn. Katharina and some of her friends went to a big, big cosplay convention this weekend. It's called AnimagiC. Of course we had to get up way too early (at 4 a.m.) to get here and have some time left to enjoy ourselves. Unfortunately, the weather wasn't nice at all! It was raining really bad by the time we got into town... By the time we got to the convention we were soaked! Even worse: they didn't have any outdoor tickets left so we couldn't even get in. So we searched for cover in an underpass where we spent the better part of the day just sitting and waiting for the rain to stop... When it did for a short while I got this picture taken. It's at the river Rhine where all the cosplayers without tickets always gather to have fun. But we're staying overnight and now everyone's hoping for better weather tomorrow. *paws crossed* |
||
-[Dino]- Posted Sep 3, 2012, 12:26 pm |
Today the weather was great!
And everyone got a ticket to be allowed on the outdoor space. The outdoor tickets were green this year. I like the colour! Katharina said the tickets last year were pink. *eeew* We also got to hear some nice acts on the stage. For example a girl singing some intros of anime shows. And the big highlight of the day were the taiko drummers! It was so great to see and hear them perform! Can you see all those people who came to hear them? Today was a great day at least! We had so much fun, but everyone was so tired on the train home... Love you Mummy! Yours Twixx |

Hello Mummy! <3
Today I said good bye to Scritches and Katharina. I'm on my way home to you now and then I'm off to more adventures. Someone said something about Scotland. Katharina said she would have liked to go there with me, but my envelope was too small. I barely fit in there myself... Luckily it's only a short trip to you mummy! See you very, very soon Mummy! Your Twixx |

Hello world, Twixx speaking!
I arrived savely at home. Don´t feel disoriented by the photos where I crawled into the envelope. I traveled NOT by post, I traveled by helicopter! I made my flying license without telling Mummy So everyboday was very surprised when I landed in the living room I met all my old friends and we talked about the passed times. Exspecially my dear firend Baerle was very happy to see me! We watched the photos of my trip and I told them a lot of stories about my adventures About our time with jo_mlp in Stuttgart, with sirkku-susanna in Finland, miapearl in Wales and -[Dino]- in Germany. Tomorrow I will leave Lichtenfels and Mummy again. I will fulfill a very important misson! I will see Scotland! So Mummy said, "If you want to travel again you have to look pretty" MUMMIES!!! So I took a bath with cornflour (good for fur) and now I am looking neat I chatted with Baerle the whole night and we looked at the souvenirs, his Dad sent to my Mum. Sooooooo much memories! It was great to be at home, but tomorrow I will leave my home again! Ravyna, I am cooooooooooooooming! |

Since yesterday I’m here at Ravyna and her guest Niiskuneiti, they met my mummy and all of her TV-guests in Lichtenfels. So I’m not very far away from home, only a few kilometers, but next week we’ll start the journey to Scotland.
I’m really looking forward to it, so Niiskuneiti and I watched some books with many beautiful pictures of Scotland. We also searched a bit through the internet for more information and studied the map. I hope we are prepared now. Twixx |

Hey mum,
Today we walked up the Ben Nevis, but only half the way to the top, you can see how cloudy it was up there. ‘Ben’ is the Gaelic word for mountain; the Ben Nevis is the highest mountain of Great Britain. Downstairs we had a wonderful view to Glen Nevis, which is also Gaelic and means valley Nevis. See you soon, Twixx |

The Ham gate
Under five main gates of the town the Ham gate was valid as the fifth wheel in the carriage. It was opened just as the low gate only on certain weekdays, apart from the harvest time where it was open of 4 o'clock in the early morning till 9 o'clock in the evening. The key was entrusted in each case with the mayors, and the castle was changed all quarters. As in all gates, own doorman who was paid partly by the town and by the neighborhood also lived in the Ham gate. In 1501 the town calculation for the Ham gate doorman as a yearly pay shows 1 Malter rye and substitute with the not received contributions of the neighbours, all together only 5 DM of 8 Albus. As a defensive work the Ham gate which is mentioned in 1298 for the first time did not take second place to the other gates. It was protected by two walls and two ditches. Moreover, it enjoyed the protection of the Krursümpfe. The short embankment between both ditches had the form of a narrow island and was called in the vernacular "Botterweck", in the prearea of the Ham gate the fallen of the Burgundian siege army and the Hessian occupying were buried. This dead person's site about which today the Christ's church rises was called young nobleman's cemetery and was furnished in 1810 by the town officially as a Protestant cemetery. Some gravestones, like that of Agnes von Schleiden late on the 12th of March, 1650, wife of the Hessian commander de Cluyt, were put up by the rear wall where they also stand even today. Hence, the low meaning of the Ham gate stirs that it lay in no important major road, but led only on narrow way to Büttgen and Glehn and connected therefore the chain of the farms of the western castle spell with the town. At the same time it served the Neusser citizen farmers as a comfortable exit for her fields before the town wall. About the meaning of the word "Ham gate" there are different views. One means, the word Ham means a circularly jumping out land piece or the external curve of a bend as hall names. Like the place Hamm on the Rhine or the "little Ham" of a pig or a horse horse collar which is also called Ham the Ham gate calls the place where the wall ring prearches like a belly farthest. Other incline to the explanation which falls back on the name exclusively used in the old documents "Hantpforte" and covers him in view of the way leading to Büttgen to "Hontschaft Büttgen" where in the southeast also even today the name Hongert, Starving, Huneder moor lives on. |

Neuss is a town on the left Lower Rhine on the opposite Rhine side of Dusseldorf in North Rhine-Westphalia. Neuss is the biggest town of the Rhine circle of Neuss, known above all for her Roman past, the Rhine harbour and the Neusser citizen-protection party.
The number of inhabitants of the city of Neuss crossed in 1963 the 100,000-border and made them the city. Neuss is measured in the number of inhabitants biggest affiliated of a circle (i.e. not free of circle) town in the Federal Republic of Germany, in the land use planning it is classified as a middle centre. In 1984 Neuss had his 2000-annual celebration. Therefore Neuss counts to the oldest towns of Germany. |

when Knirrie, Frederik and me looked out of the window we saw that the winter is back! Cause I'm the only one with scarf and hat I escorted hostmum into the garden. First we lighted a new candle for Sally, the old dog lady who died four weeks ago Then I checked the feed for the birds...and of course I built up a Twixx-angel All the best, yours Twixx |

yesterday hostmum, hostdad and me drove to Paderborn city by bus. I didn't know where we wanted to go, it's a surprise, hostmum said. I was very curious...and suddenly I saw our destination! Imagine, mummy, an Irish pub! After coming in I first inspected the fittings and then OF COURSE I ordered a Guinness Mmmhhhh, yummy! The Guinness was so good I decided to take a coach full of barrels with me... All the best, love you, yours Twixx |

Dear mummy,
yes, I'm still alive, and today I escorted hostmum to work. She works in an old people's home as a social worker and she said, I could help her amusing the old people. On the way to Paderborn city I talked with a very nice mammoth about life. In the old people's home we played ball and skittles on a big table. I had to put up the skittles and to add up the points, it was great! After playing we had time to look into an old atlas searching our home towns and of course I found Lichtenfels! And I met a very special old couple Best wishes to you, mum, yours Twixx |

mcdaniels Posted Mar 19, 2013, 5:53 pm |
Dear mummy,
now hostmum and hostdad are on holiday...at home. But so they have time to do nice things like wandering: today we walked round Neuenbeken, hostparent's home village that belongs to Paderborn. The weather was really nice... I believe springtime is near. We discovered many things, above all many stones, there is a chalky soil in and round Neuenbeken. The strangest thing we discovered was a ball from a Christmas tree in the middle of a wood . We entered a raised hide and visited "Hindahl's cross", a landmark of Neuenbeken. On the table you can see where it is. Best wishes, mum, yours Twixx |

Hi mum,
today we wandered again...on a route called "old way of pilgrims" with funny signs! And of course we went into a café and Knirrie and me drank a big glass of self-made-cocoa. Yummy!!! After that we visited a little farm and Knirrie completed another life mission: meeting a real pig! Bye bye, yours Twixx |

And in the evening we had a wonderful farewell party Bye, my friends, and have a good journey! Yours Twixx |

Hi mummy,
today afternoon we escorted hostmum to work or rather I escorted Sidney L., because he wanted to ask one of the old ladies in the old people's home whether she crocheted a carpet for him and I should bring my charm into play for convincing the lady... It just worked, the nice lady agreed and showed us some of her crochet works. Then Sidney L. was allowed to choose the coulours of the thread, look what he choosed, I think it'll be a very pretty carpet. By the way, I ask myself how Sidney will make his carpet fly We'll see... Just before going home we put up some Easter bunnies for hostmum's colleagues who have to work at Easter. Best wishes, yours Twixx |

Happy Easter, mummy!!!
Yesterday night we drove through Paderborn for sharing out Easter bunnies. Sidney L. and me creeped to the houses of hostparen't friends, put the bunnies in front of the entrances and ran back to the car as fast as we could. Of course we weren't discovered at all All the best, yours Twixx |

Hi mummy,
yesterday hostparents, Sidney L. and me made a bike tour round Neuenbeken. First we had to wake the bikes up from hibernation . It wasn't a very long tour, because it was still cold ...so that I had to wear scarf and hat...no spring at all! Round Neuenbeken there's one of the biggest inland wind parks. On our route we had a great view of Paderborn's surroundings, have a look! And we visited the 100th avenue of a Westfalian avenue project. A few years ago a politician opened this avenue, because it was the 100st... yours Twixx |

Dear mummy,
imagine, Sidney L. has got his carpet! Yesterday we all sat together discussing how to make the carpet fly and we thought we had to find a magic word for starting it. We all had a lot of suggestions...but NOTHING happened So we all went to bed very disappointed...but today morning Sidney told us he had a dream last night: a flying pig had come to him whispering a word into his ear. He immediately tried starting the carpet using this word...and it worked!!! Unfortunately he is not allowed to tell the magic word to anybody else...so I'm not able to try flying as well But Sidney promised me to take me with him on his flying carpet All the best, yours Twixx |

Hi mummy,
today afternoon Sidney L. and me made our carpet trip he had promised to me. We flew through the whole garden, it was fantastic And then it was time to say goodbye, because tomorrow Sidney will start his journey. Goodbye my dear friend, perhaps we'll meet again! Good night, mummy, yours Twixx |

Dear mum,
finally spring!!! Yesterday I took a walk on my own. First I climbed up a wild cherry tree and swayed in the warm wind. Then I looked onto the floor: it was full of little flowers...fantastic! And the grass that was brown last week suddenly is greener than green I love spring!!! I love it so much that I had to sit on a bench watching the sunset and thinking about life until it became dark... See you, yours Twixx |

Imagine, mummy, today noon another TV arrived: Haribaer from Remscheid!!!
He brought many jelly babies with him (what else?!) So we sat together talking and OF COURSE eating jelly babies... I think Haribaer is a very nice guy and we'll have a lot of fun... All the best, love you, mummy, yours Twixx |

Dear mum,
yesterday morning I showed Haribaer Neuenbeken, hostmum's home village that belongs to Paderborn. We saw the Beke river, lots of nice flowers and some old houses. Hostmum said in he house with the blue door she lived years ago. And on the "Waldlehrpfad" we learned something about the animals living round Neuenbeken. In Neuenbeken all the electricity boxes are painted. We visited a particularly nice one that shows the viaduct of Neuenbeken. And of course we visited the very very old church. Back home we walked through hostmum's garden...and looked at the pasture behind the garden. |
||
mcdaniels Posted Apr 29, 2013, 8:09 pm |
...and in the afternoon we had a walk near Schlangen, a village 8 kilometres from Neuenbeken that is famous for the "Lerchensporn" (Corydalis) that blooms there for a few days in spring. It looked fantastic!

Hi mummy,
today we welcomed Profen, a very nice owl from France. He brought a littel basket filled with French specialities, so we sat together eating French cheese and baguette and drinking wine...and we told him about TV- life, cause it's his first trip. I think we'll have a nice time together and he won't be homesick at all. Many kisses, mummy, yours Twixx |

Dear mum,
today morning we went into hostmum's garden and visited the sheep and their lambs in the pasture. Hostmum said the sheep came originally from the Cameroons. Then we escorted hostmum to work by bike: 8 kilometres to the old people's home and 8 kilometres back. We listened to 3 nightingales (why are they called 'nightingales' though they are singing in the middle of the day?) and saw that the rape starts blooming. Unfortunately today hostmum sat in her office almost the whole afternoon writing and writing...but Profen, Haribaer and me were allowed to write something as well. Look what I wrote for you On the way back home we saw some nice black and white lambs. All teh best, mummy, yours Twixx |

Hi mummy,
yesterday we drove to a plant and garden day at Dalheim monastery. There were some useful and lots of nice and funny things you could buy. Have a look: And of course we had some yummy food...potato fritter And imagine, mum, hostmum bought us three little animals: an owl for Profen, a bear for Haribaer and an ibex for me. (Unfortunately there was no goat, so I chose an animal quite similar ) |

All the best to Mother's day, mummy!!!
Today afternoon we visited a friend of hostmum who has got a big garden with many things to explore: first Haribaer, Profen and me tested the swing and the slide. Great! Before putting to sea with a big boat we got to know a strange huge woodworm who was the garden's guardian he said. Then we got to know Fynn and Bea the two dogs. They showed us the rabbits nobody is allowed to eat. Very good! One picture shows the tomatoe plants hostmum got for her garden. In the end the little son of hostmum's friend showed us all his little cars and master rabbit, a nice guy who must stay at home... All the best, mummy, yours Twixx |

Happy Whitsun, mummy!
On Whit Sunday we drove to Altenbeken by bike. Altenbeken is a small town at the beginning of the Egge mountains. I know, 3*Euro was here last year, but everybody makes his own experiences and sees the things with his own eyes, I think...and I don't know whether he saw anything else but Joesy It was a very sunny day, the sky was so blue and the trees were so green...fantastic! On the way to Altenbeken Haribaer, Profen and me took a rest in a field of woodruff. When we reached Altenbeken we first visited the big viaduct this town is famous for. The viaduct was built up in the middle of the 19th century. Though Altenbeken is a small town it was and still is a railway junction. In commemoration of the old days there is standing an old steam engine in the middle of the town. Of course we had to explore it! On the way back home we visited some cows on a hill, river Beke and a small viaduct that belongs to Neuenbeken. And then we took a long rest sunbathing on a bench Love you, mummy, yours Twixx |

Hi mum,
today morning it was very cold and wet outside. But hostmum said: "Let's plant some flowers on our balcony, perhaps it'll stop raining and the sun will shine if we'll do so." So we did. First Haribaer, Profen, Störte and me cleaned the flowerpots and filled them with new ground. Then we planted the flowers...and believe it or not, while working on the balcony it stopped raining and became brighter and brighter and the dark clouds disappeared... All the best, mummy, yours Twixx |

Dear mummy,
in the afternoon we had a sightseeing tour through Paderborn. We drove to the city by bus. First we went into a very nice café where we all had a big piece of cake and a cup of tea, very yummy! Then I showed Haribaer and Profen the sights of Paderborn: the cathedral, the 'window of the three hares', the town hall, the Neptun fountain and the river Pader, Germany's shortest river with lots of springs. In between times we met a very strange figure... Best wishes, yours Twixx |

Dear mummy,
today morning I wrote a postcard to you, I hope you like it Then we helped hostmum preparing a tree so that the cat of the neighbour can't reach the nesting box hanging in the tree. Hostmum said 'nothing against cats, but if they kill birds that's going beyond a joke....' Yours Twixx |

Dear mummy,
today Haribaer, Störte and me started together with hostdad and some of his friends to a short North Sea-trip. On the way to Waddewarden our car almost lost a rear wheel , but we TVs shouted as loud as we could so we stopped just before something worse could happen.. When we arrived Waddewarden near Wilhelmshaven we first inspected the holiday flat and the garden and later we helped making salad for our barbecue party (unfortunately Haribaer was making a headstand just when hostdad took his picture ) And tomorrow we'll drive to Langeoog by ship Best wishes, yours Twixx |
||
mcdaniels Posted Jun 7, 2013, 7:45 pm |
Dear mum,
today we drove to Langeoog island by ship. In the harbour we changed into a slow train that brought us to the centre of Langeoog. We visited the 'Lale Andersen house' (Lale Andersen was the woman who sang the favourite song 'Lilly Marleen'). And of course we visited the sandy beach and of course we built up a castle The weather was fantastic for the whole day so we had a very nice time Love you, yours Twixx |

We visited a few museums: a bread-museum, a sausage-museum, a beer and schnapps-museum and a cheese-museum. We learned a lot about specialities like ham and black bread (Pumpernickel), how to make beer and schnapps, how to transport milk by bike, how to milk a cow, how to built up fences and so on... Of course we got the specialities to eat at last...Haribaer and me had potatoe soup and cheese soup...very yummy! Love you, mummy, yours Twixx |

Dear mummy,
yesterday evening hostgrandma started into the sky with a balloon and of course Haribaer and me didn't miss this event! Unfortunately hostgrandma didn't dare to take us with her because she feared dropping us So we only visited her flight, but that was really interesting, too. First all the people who wanted to go with the balloon had to help making the balloon clear for takeoff. And then the adventure began. Hostmum, hostdad, Haribaer and me followed the balloon by car and after one hour it landed and hostgrandma came back from the sky. They landed a few metres next to a military zone, uff! Hostgrandma said the flight was fantastic, perhaps I'll fly as well one day Yours Twixx |

Dear Mummy,
now hostmum and hostdad are on holiday for two weeks. Unfortunately we must stay at home because of the very old dog lady Trixi, but hostmum said we'll do some trips or half-day trips exploring the surroundings. And so we did yesterday: In the afternoon we drove to Paderborn city by bike. Through a tunnel, past a little chapel, past cornfields...then we reached Paderborn city and visited the bookshop hostmum bought Lille last year. Unfortunately the bookshop has to close next week it was hostmum's favourite bookshop. Then we went into hostmum's and hostdad's favourite Indian restaurant. While eating the starter Haribaer and me suddenly heard somebody whispering behind us...Turning around we saw a little very colourful dragon. "I'm Olli", he said "and I followed you from the bookshop because you looked so kind..." So we sat together eating yummy dishes, drinking Mango Lassi and talking about life. Olli decided not to become a ToyVoyager because somebody has to stay at home keeping an eye on mum and dad and the plushies at home he said...imagine that! On the way back home we saw an old DDR-car, a Trabant, a rarity nowadays! All the best, mummy, yours Haribaer |
||
mcdaniels Posted Jul 2, 2013, 5:22 pm |
Hi mum,
hostmum says the problem of having holiday at home is that you're doing things you have no time for while you're working. So additional to normal housework like doing the washing we helped repotting orchids, sorting out clothes and putting waste glass into a bottle bank and the clothes in the old clothes collection. After working so hard we drove to our favourite ice-cream parlour...yummy See you, mummy, yours Twixx |

Hi mummy,
today morning we drove to Dortmund, hostmum's birthplace. First it was a bit rainy, but then it became a sunny day. We visited the town centre with it's pedestrian zone, old houses, an old tram, fountains (one with a frog!), the big "U" (one of the emblems of Dortmund and the letter every child in Dortmund learns first), a rhinoceros and the market square. And we went shopping in a vegan shop. Of course we had some rests: one in a nice café and one in a vegan restaurant with a big sofa. We had vegan lasagne, yummy!! And we met a nice raccoon sitting on a cake. On the way back home we visited Lippstadt airport and saw a big plane starting and very old planes. Wow! All the best, yours Twixx |

Hi mummy,
today afternoon we drove to Paderborn city by bike again, now for visiting the café of hostparent's friend. It was very comfortable and as you can see the cake was VERY YUMMY! On the way back home we stopped at a big toy shop because hostmum and hostdad wanted to buy a birthday present for a five-year-old boy. They were very happy about our advice cause Haribaer and me know for certain how to make little boys happy Look what we've chosen (after playing with car and big salamander): |

Dear mummy,
yesterday hostmum, hostdad, Haribaer and me made a bike tour to Schlangen (snakes ) via Bad Lippspringe. In Bad Lippspringe we visited hostdad's parents and met some plushies who live on the sofa their whole life instead of travelling...but they seemed to be satisfied with this content... In Schlangen we first visited a little lake, and look the sign, mum: don't walk on the ice And of course we had to stop at a playground. Hostmum showed us lots and lots of blooming limes...what a smell! And we learned the differences between maize, wheat and barley, the three most frequent sorts of grain in this region. One cornfield was full of cornflowers, unfortunately a rarity in Germany. Along the cycleways there were many different wild flowers, very nice. Best wishes, yours Twixx |

Hi mum,
today morning we welcomed Laika from Stuttgart. In the afternoon we walked on the old way of pilgrims near Paderborn. You can see the route on the sign. Our way was very nice, forest and fields in the sunshine. We took a rest in an organic café andf had yummy cake, coffee and tea. On the way back we saw a sign with a cow on it but unfortunately there were no cows, not after 75 metres and not at all. Another sign was in the shape of a horse that pointed to witch-hill but on the hill we didn't meet any witch. Perhaps it wasn't dark enough... Love you, mummy, as you can see yours Twixx |

Dear mummy,
today afternoon we made a bike tour to Bad Lippspringe again. In Bad Lippspringe five rivers rise as you can see on the sign. The river you can see on the photo is the river Jordan. But the town isn't only full of rivers but also full of flowers! Of course Haribaer and me wanted to show Laika our favourite ice-cream parlour On the way back home we saw some sculptures of old people in front of an old people's home, very nice! All the best, yours Twixx |

mcdaniels Posted Jul 22, 2013, 6:14 pm |
Dear mummy,
yesterday hostmum asked us whether we could help her cooking jam. Of course we wanted! First we picked lots of redcurrants, then we had to wash them and to clean some of them up from stalks (a very long-winded activity ), because hostmum wanted to bake a cake with currants before making jam. Laika and me rolled out the dough, then we covered it with redcurrants. At last meringue to the top...yummy! Then we started making jam. We DIDN'T have to pick the currents up from stalks because hostmum has got a brilliant old mincer from her grandma: you can fill in the redcurrants WITH their stalks, then you only have to turn the crank...on one side the stalks and pips appear and on the other side the pulp. So we did, wow! After that we cooked the currents together with bananas, gelling agent, sugar and some liqueur and filled the jam into glasses...ready! All the best yours Twixx |

Hi mummy,
now it's 'Libori' in Paderborn and that means it is state of emergency 'Libori' is both a secular and a worldly festival in Paderborn with many masses in the cathedral and processions in honour of St. Liborius whose relicts were conveyed from Le Mans to Paderborn in the year 836 and are kept in a shrine in the cathedral's crypt. Every July the shrine is shown for a few days and the 'Libori' festival is celebrated for one week. There is a big market round the cathedral and a very big fairground. Today 'Libori' has been opened and we were present! Mum, you can't imagine how many people and how many bishops I saw! Next week we'll visit the fairground. Love you yours Twixx |

In the evening we visited hostmum's parents for watching the football match Dortmund against Bayern. You know hostmum and her mother are enthusiastic Dortmund fans and so it was a very good evening for them cause Dortmund won 4:2!
Before watching the match we visited hostgrandma's lovely garden. We discovered a small fountain, a small pond (with a BVB-duck AND a Schalke-duck on it ), a hotel for insects, a birdhouse, many flowers and some strange occupiers of the garden. When it got dark hostmum showed us a very nice flower: in German 'Nachtkerze' (Oenothera biennis) that blooms in the night! And then we saw the fair with lots of merry-go-rounds, ticket stalls with hundreds of plushies, strange figures, music all around...wow! And we drove with a Ferris wheel We could see the whole town, it was so great! After all these impressions we were very hungry and so we got some chips and chocolate cherries at 'Petit Paris'...yummy! Of course we had to stop at a plushie stand. Suddenly a young goat-lady stood in front of me making eyes at me First I was impressed but suddenly the lady kissed me That was too much for me and when I saw her sign "Zimtzicke" I fled without any look back! Back home we heard somebody whispering...and saw two curious guys who have followed us from the plushie stand (luckily NOT the "Zimtzicke") See you yours Twixx |

Hi mom, I arrived - and also not. Right now I'm driving with a postal car back and forth and crisscross.
It happened like this: this morning a friendly postman wanted to deliver me to Jasper. Unfortunately, today was Jasper's first day of work after the holidays. No one's home. Because I'm so precious and Jasper has to sign my receipt, the postman has took me back. Jasper will grind her teeth when she goes to the post office to pick me up. She will not get me. :-(( All undeliverable mail will be collected and taken to the respective post office after closing time. There they can be picked up the next day from 8 am. Therefore, I am driving still a bit car, stay overnight at the post office and when Jasper is fast enough tomorrow after work - she will get me. I really hope so. I think I can hear she grumble - about opening times, customer service, postal charges, etc. Until - maybe tomorrow? Twixx |

Jasper Posted Aug 13, 2013, 2:15 pm |
Hi mom,
now I'm really arrived. Jasper picked me up at the post office and freed me from my jacket even in the car. Without scissors - just tear open was not a good idea. The whole upholstery of the envelope spread across me and the seats. I think we have to clean the car. No matter, Jasper was happy to have me in her hands. Then we drove home. In the mailbox we found another packet. Jasper introduced me to the other TV's. All greeted me very friendly. Together we went to the dining room where I showed them my gifts. Curious, we opened the other envelope. Many sweets, a nice card, a tiny pilgrim's staff and a film container appeared. Snake Speare carefully opened the box and a small - really small mouse looked out. Frederik. We welcomed him warmly and hugged him very carefully. Now the fun can begin. Hugs and kisses Twixx |

Hi mom,
tonight Jasper and I will accompany Grandpa to a classical open air. Grandpa loves this music and because he is over 80 years old, he feels safer accompanied. I took a shower, used perfume from host dad and combed my goatee. Now I'm ready to go. Hope I like this music. See you mom, Twixx |

Hi mom,
I had a very tremendous evening yesterday. First we picked up Grandpa, then we went to Wil, where the classical open air took place. From the car park we took an elevator (because Grandpa) to the old town. From the square in front of St. Peter's Church, we had a beautiful view. We walked through romantic streets with beautiful old houses, the town hall and suddenly saw a huge scaffold. Jasper told me that this scaffold is the tribune (from behind), on which we will sit. And now from the front. This building is called "Hof zu Wil". The Hof was the seat of the prince abbots during more than 500 years. An impressive building. The old city gate. We discovered a gondola. A prop for the show. In front of the stage. Then the musicians made ready. The performance began. We listened to music by Bellini and Verdi. Sorry mom, I'm a bit blurry. It was something difficult to photograph, we were sitting pretty tight. But it was an experience. yours, Twixx |

Hi mommy,
Yesterday I visited the Alp Sellamatt. First we took the car to Alt St. Johann and there boarded the cable car. This brought us to 1390 meters above sea level. We had a great view of the Thur valley, the Säntis and Churfirsten. We hiked on a circular route and there was a lot to see: Happy pigs Alpine chalets Wooden art objects and many beautiful plants. We also wanted to visit a small chapel but there just a baptism took place. Because we do not want to disturb, we sat on the low wall in front and enjoyed the view. At a fountain we refreshed ourselves. Then I climbed a rock wall. I saw wild strawberries, and I wanted to have. With some help from host dad I reached it. Yummy! Over the upper Alp our path led us back to the cable car. I slept very, very well that night. Hugs from Twixx |

Yesterday we said goodbye to SnakeSpeare. He started on his first trip. After a small snack (there were snakes sausages, hihi) we sat together, ate muffins and gave him good advice for his journey. Then it was time to say goodbye. I gave him the friendship bracelet that I have crocheted. After a group hug SnakeSpeare slipped into his travel cover. A last look and lots of good wishes go with him on his journey. Bye bye little snake, and bye for today mum your Twixx P.S. Thanks for your greetings and Bussi. I think of you every day. |

Hi mom,
as a large envelope arrived yesterday, Jasper had a smile on her face. After we opened it, we knew why. Yuma is home. He brought two friends that are living here now. We hugged and greeted him. Then we had much to tell. Hugs and kisses for you mom Twixx |

Hi mommy,
because today was so nice weather and Jasper did not work in the afternoon, we decided to take a walk. Our route took us to the river Thur and Aeulischlucht. The Thur looks very romantic. On the shore we built stone figures. ( costs Jasper a few nerves) We followed the steep path into the woods. A nice view from high above of the river. Then we climbed down a small dirt track. Here I am sitting on a huge rock. Everywhere there are huge boulders here. Do you see the bright triangle over my head? We have to crawl through to get to shore. And then we saw the waterfall. I discovered mushrooms and a large cavity in a tree. After a short break we walked on through the forest. Back at the shore, Jasper showed us that the romantic river can also be very dangerous. Do you see the nests in the tree? These are no bird nests, but rather stranded grass. So high was the water at last flood. This stuff has washed up the flood. A last look at the waterfall. Then climbed up the path and squeezed through between the rock walls. The civilization has us back. On the way home I saw ducks, who took a sunbath. I had a nice day. Hopefully you too. Love Twixx |

Hi mommy,
after a few boring days (Jasper had to work a lot), I needed something exciting, thrilling. I wanted to jump off the waterfall. Jasper got a small heart attack and banned me. Jumping from the small bridge into the river Thur was also not allowed. I even had to swear not to do anything stupid when Jasper is not at home. Today we found something we both could live with. Well protected with a helmet, I was ready for: Bungee jumping. Deep breath and Aaaaah What a feeling It was only the balcony but maybe ..... Many greetings from your adrenaline junkie Twixx |

Hi mommy,
Yesterday we attended a special event. A hot-air balloon festival. I could watch up close as the hot air balloons were made ready for launch. First the balloon envelope is spread and then inflated with a huge fan. Subsequently, the air is heated with a gas burner. The hotter the air is the more the balloon rises. Then the pilot and passengers climb into the basket and the balloon takes off. It was great, totally great. I will also be balloonist. And then I do bungee jumping from the basket. Yeah! I've found the perfect balloon - TV size. After I had watched many balloons at the start, I was waiting for the highlight of the day - the night glow. Isn't this an incredible sight? have a nice day mommy Twixx |

Hello mom,
Sunday morning and it's still raining - or again? We do not know. Well that Jasper has found something interesting that does not require good weather. So we went to Stein in Appenzell and visited a show dairy. Here we could see how the famous Appenzeller cheese is made. Mom, you know it surely from advertising: the one with the herbal brine. A cutting-edge facility that is operated by one person, processed thousands of liters of milk into cheese. Then, we let us explain the care and ripening of cheese. Very interesting. And then - a cheese lover's paradise. Approx. 15,000 cheeses are stored here. Slowly but surely we were hungry. Unfortunately, this was not for us. Then Jasper found a place for us and we enjoyed cheese and other delicacies. Times which other - but I prefer goat cheese. Kisses for you mom Twixx |

Hi mom,
Today Jasper baked a cake for us. She hopes that improves our mood, which has reached a low point after another week of continuous rain. The aroma was fantastic and we could not wait to try a piece. Stuffed full and satisfied I discovered even a little blue sky and a ray of sunshine. There is hope. Hugs and kisses Twixx |

Hello mommy,
Yesterday I visited a goat show with Jasper. The Association of goats friends (very nice people) organized an anniversary show (the 100th) 700 goats and billy goats participated. These two did not like each other. Here are two more peaceful contemporaries. Many pretty ladies. No. 8 liked me very much. They look like me. And more pretty ladies. A little joke among friends. These bells were to win in different categories. I won in the category "most beautiful billy goat foreign" Because the bells are too big for me I get a little sent. Mom, did I have to say that I was the only participant? I was the most beautiful. I agree. I almost would have been kidnapped. That's what you get when you're so beautiful. When we come home the cats have sniffed so strange to us. We smelled something - how shall I say - intense. Jasper took a long shower and lots of deodorant. I was sprayed with fabric fresheners and had to sit on the balcony for hours. If the cats sniff even longer, I have to go in the bathtub. so long! your Twixx |

Hello mom,
Jasper had a lot to do yesterday. Because the weather was so beautiful we have connected the "Must" with the "Allow". So we strolled in Wattwil - the center of the Thur Valley - along the Thur. Far away we saw the monastery of St. Mary of the Angels. (The small white houses above the center of the bridge) On the other side of the river stands the high school. Host brother learned here before he studied chemistry in Zurich. Because the Thur valley is so narrow, most residential areas are built on slopes. This bridge - a pedestrian bridge - is one of many that cross the Thur. Wattwil alone has seven bridges. The redesigned train station place. Among them a parking garage was built. The Post Bridge - built in 1909. This futuristic structure is the steeple of the Protestant church. The view from the Post Bridge. So we had circled the center of Wattwil. Now came the "must". We ran to the bank, the post office and the supermarket. Go for a walk was funnier. Hugs Twixx |

Hi mommy,
Yesterday we welcomed a new guest. A nice girl horse named Hanne Hü. When I saw her the first time she was still asleep. Later, in our living room, we greeted her warmly and talked very nice. Then she looked me as I did bungee jumping. Maybe she thinks I'm crazy, that does not matter, I had a lot of fun. Hugs and kisses Twixx |

Hi mommy
it's me again. Yesterday there was a Swiss specialty for dinner - cheese fondue. Hungry I waited until Jasper brought the melted cheese. Then I had to stuck a piece of bread on a long fork, and thus stir in the melted cheese. That was funny, especially because I stirred so wild that Jasper was afraid I might fall into the cheese. After a short wait - the cheese was so hot - I enjoyed my first bite. Very yummy. In between a sip of white wine made the meal perfect. (Frederik needed a little help) To empty the pot was not a problem. Now I am looking forward to raclette. yours Twixx |

Hi mommy,
Yesterday I visited the small town of Lichtensteig. Lichtensteig is first mentioned in 1228 as Liehtvnsteige and has since the Middle Ages, the city - and markets rights. The municipality has a medieval old town («city»). The oldest houses, which are also part of the city walls, are dated on the first half of the 15th Century. The Town Hall. This building was a few years ago the county jail. This poor, ugly man stands in front of the bank building. The UBS branch in Lichtensteig, founded in 1863 as Toggenburg Bank, is the origin of today's biggest bank in Switzerland. In 1992, the UBS branch bought the artwork "Lost Shadows" and let up before their home business. A naked man moves out from under a blanket and looks shocked at the sky. The sculpture immediately became an moral nuisance in the town. The figure was transferred back and turned so that her nakedness is no longer visible from the main alley. Good, we live outside. Through this gate we came to a place called "goldener Boden" Formerly a marketplace, it is used as a car park. Many beautiful houses are here. Through the "Hintergasse" we came to the "Schmalzhaus". "Gall'sche Offizin" on the ground floor is a hand typesetting and printing with antique pleadings. A wise saying on the wall. Here you see the old town hall. The main street with the arcades. The Löwengasse with the restaurant - Löwen. The district building with its bay window. Again, the main street - this time from below. Looks a bit sad, in this weather. From here you can see the station. In the background is the railway bridge over the river Thur. Lichtensteig seen from the station bridge. Everywhere is dug and built. The main street from above. On our way home, I saw again the bank building. The veterinarian. Good to know. This is the evangelical church. This is the old weaving. Today, a Oldtimer Museeum and the model railway club housed therein. Kägi, the famous waffle maker. Just 200 meters from home. In certain wind conditions you can smell at home when they melt chocolate or make waffles. My last visit was to the St. Loreto Chapel. Small but beautiful. Every day at 11am and at 4pm we hear the bells ringing. That was our walk in and around Lichtensteig. It was beautiful but cold. Time for warmer clothes. Bye bye and kisses Twixx |

Hi mommy,
it's me again. Our first trip took us to Schönbrunn, the summer residence of Empress Maria Theresia. The exceptionally large Castle (1441 rooms) is built in baroque and rococo style. It served as the residence of the imperial family, but also for representative purposes. The Neptune Fountain was built in 1776-1780. The Palm House. In the huge park countless gardeners were busy prepare the beds for winter. The Gloriette. In front of the castle we met "Mozart". A bit later we drove to the hotel. It was a long day. That's it for now . Bye, love you Twixx |

Servus, Grüezi and Hello,
after a long sleep and a good breakfast we started in the second day. The Naschmarkt on the program. The weather did not look promising, but that could not stop us. The Naschmarkt is Vienna's most popular market. Located at the Wienzeile over the Wien River it is about 1,5 kilometers long. The Naschmarkt has existed since the 16th century when mainly milk bottles were sold (As Milk Bottles were made out of Ash (Wood from an Ash-Tree), "Asch"(German for "Ash")led to the name "Aschenmarkt"). From 1793 onwards, all fruits and vegetables brought to Vienna with carts had to be sold here, while goods arriving on the Danube were sold elsewhere. Nowadays, you can buy fresh fruit and vegetables from around the world, exotic herbs, cheese, baked goods such as bread, kaiser rolls, and torte, meats, and seafood. There are also a lot of small restaurants which offer e.g. sushi, kebab, seafood, traditional Viennese food such as Kaiserschmarrn or Palatschinken (compares to rolled up crepes) and stalls which offer clothes and accessories. We strolled through the market and admired the offer. The traders are very friendly. Everywhere you can taste the goods. Once the market run up and down and you are full. Of course, we enjoyed a glass of wine. Then came the big rain and everyone was looking for a dry place. After dinner (no pictures, it was just too full) we were on our way home. We walked past to the Hotel Sacher, took a look in the Kärntner Strasse (the famous shopping street) and saw the brightly lit Opera House. A day with many impressions came to an end. bye Twixx |

Hello my dear at home
lots of sun and a bright blue sky lured us outside. The Hundertwasser House was our first destination. The Hundertwasser House in Vienna is a building designed by artist Friedensreich Hundertwasser in Vienna's 3rd district. The extraordinary building was constructed between 1983 and 1985. The colorfully decorated exterior façade of Hundertwasser House draws attention to itself almost magically. Anyone who lives in the Hundertwasser House also has the right to decorate the façade around the windows entirely to their own taste. More than 200 trees and shrubs on the balconies and roof terraces make the Hundertwasser House a green oasis in the heart of the city. A tram took us then to the Prater. The Prater is a large public park in Vienna's 2nd district (Leopoldstadt). The Wurstelprater amusement park, often simply called "Prater", stands in one corner of the Wiener Prater and includes the Wiener Riesenrad. The Ferris wheel was built in 1897 and is 65 meters high. In 1916, it should have been demolished. Due to lack of financial resources it survived. We boarded a gondola and enjoyed the view of the gigantic structure, the Prater and the city. (In the gondola before us a marriage was consummated.) We wished best of luck! Afterwards we strolled through the park and wanted to try everything. Unfortunately, we were for most things either too small or too young. Nevertheless we had a lot of fun. Curious, what would bring us the next day we drove back to the hotel. Greetings from your happy Twixx |

Servus and hello ,
this day started on the banks of the Danube Canal. Through countless small streets we came initially to Jewish quarter with its beautiful houses , the Lessing monument and the memorial to the Jews who were murdered during World War II in Austria. We went on and came to the Parliament. The next building we saw was the Town Hall on the Ringstrasse. Built between 1872 - 1883 it has 1575 rooms , 2035 windows and 5 towers . The tallest tower measures 103 meters - with Rathausmann . Emperor Franz Josef I decreed that any new tower should not be higher than the tower of the Votive Church , which was 99 meters high. The architect designed a 98 meter high tower and put the Rathausmann on it to make it appear higher. Directly opposite the town hall is the famous Burgtheater. These are the towers of the Votive Church. We walked back past the Burgtheater, to the Volksgarten (People's Garden). Between thousands of rose bushes , we took a short break. Then we went to the Hofburg (Imperial Palace). The various tracts that make up the Imperial Palace , were built between 13 and 19 - 20 Century. In the entire history the Imperial Palace was home to some of the most powerful people in Europe. Currently, the castle serves as the official residence of the Austrian president. In addition, it is home to numerous museums, the Spanish Riding School and a convention center. On Heldenplatz outside the Hofburg. One of the many internal courtyard with a monument. I do not remember to whom. The monument to Empress Maria Theresia. Museum of Art History. The Natural History Museum is directly opposite. This is the St. Michael's Wing of the Hofburg. At St. Michael's Square. Here we stand on the terrace in front of the Albertina and look at the Sacher Hotel (from behind). The Albertina houses one of the largest and most important collections of - 50,000 paintings and 900'000 artistic works ranging from the late Gothic period to the present. Albertina Place Then we reached the Stephansplatz. First we saw the Haas Haus, and then St. Stephen's Cathedral. The cathedral has been restored several times, rebuilt and expanded. The massive south tower is 136 meters high and the construction took 65 years. The construction of the North Tower was stopped because of the Gothic architectural style went out of fashion. The roof is covered with 230,000 colored tiles and really spectacular. Because our hooves, paws and claws ached slowly, host dad decided to go Fiaker. A lady drove us with the carriage through Vienna. We saw many beautiful houses. Take pics was a little difficult. It bounced heavily on the cobbles. This is the Peter Church. Then we took the subway to the modern part of Vienna - Danube City. Near the site of the International Garden Show (1964 ) - today Danube Park, with the landmark of the area, the Danube Tower - Uno City was built. Also the tallest building in Austria - the DC Tower (250 meter roof height) - and many banks , insurance companies and the Vienna International Center you can find. The Danube Tower (252 meters with antenna) we had to visit . There is a cafe and restaurant that rotates . And you can do bungee jumping. Jasper was happy that the plant was closed. From the observation deck we had a magnificent view over Vienna. Kaisermuehlen with the old Danube. And then the new Danube , the Danube and the Danube Canal . Much Danube. At the end of the day we drove to Grinzing wine taverns . The dinner we had earned honestly . After a few glasses of wine we saw everything a little blurry - Jasper also . It was an exhausting but wonderful day . See you soon Twixx P.S. A little nightcap on the way home. |

Hi Mommy,
last day in Vienna, and still so much to look at . After breakfast we made our way to the Belvedere Palace. At the turn of the 17th and 18 century Prince Eugene of Savoy has bought a huge plot of land near the Rennweg and let there first build the lower Belvedere. He used it as a summer - residence. The Upper Belvedere should be much smaller , but he had apparently too much money, and so he let built a castle, which was much greater than that in which he lived . A beautiful French garden and large pools of water are also included. Because it is autumn , most beds are cleared and the pools have no water . The city park is well worth a visit. We admired the opulent Johann - Strauss monument and sat at the city park bridge that crosses the river Wien . We looked at the Charles Church and drank " Sturm" ( freshly fermented grape juice ) Then it was time to say goodbye to Vienna . The train took us to the airport . Boarding in Jasper's bag. The rest was sleep sleep sleep . Good night my dear ones . Twixx |

Hello my dear,
for every TV comes a time that he has to travel further. Next travel means goodbye to dear friends. After a long time together, we had to say goodbye today Frederik and Panda_Lilo. Many big hugs and best wishes will accompany them on their way. And of course some chocolate against boredom. Although, they travel together, there should arise no boredom. With a heavy heart we watched as they climbed into their envelope and left us. Goodbye - have a safe trip. Hugs and kisses for you mommy Twixx |

sorry for the long wait. Jasper was sick and we had a lot to do to get her back on her feet. Today a nice packet has arrived. From Alaska. The first thing we saw were two big, splendid teeth and a giant mustache. Aiviq called our new friend and he's a walrus. He looks soo funny. We hugged him and gave him a warm welcome. He showed us his gifts and told us about his trip and Alaska. He's a nice guy, we will have lots of fun together. See you soon Twixx |

Hi mommy,
Today we took a little walk. Because Jasper is still not fully fit we ran just a bit through the forest. Not spectacular but the fresh air felt good . To go into the woods we had to cross a pasture. The cows were curious but friendly. The forest looked very wild. During last autumn storm some trees have fallen. The loggers have a lot to do now. The foliage invited to play. Unfortunately, it was too wet. We saw large withered fern fronds. So we walked and walked, enjoyed the peace and occasionally we saw " art " created by nature. In the soft moss we rested a bit. The result of diligent work - and still plenty to do. And then - you will not believe it - we suddenly heard grunting boars . We wanted to see , but Jasper found it safer to turn back. On the way home we bought pumpkins. One in TV size for each of us. Tomorrow we will carve pumpkins - for Halloween. Hugs and kisses Twixx |

Jasper Posted Nov 3, 2013, 10:04 am |
Hi mommy,
Today is Halloween and I am very busy. I have to carve my pumpkin. First, cut off the lid. Not so easy - and even a bit dangerous with the big knife. Then, remove the seeds and slimy stuff. Disgusting. And now scrape out the pulp with a spoon. Whew, quite exhausting. Thank God we have small pumpkins this year. Jasper does not want to eat again pumpkin soup until Easter. I've done it. Now I'm going to start with carving. Meanwhile it is evening and we decorate the table. Our pumpkins glowing spooky. We will tell scary stories, and eat sweets. I get goosebumps already. Hugs Twixx |

Hello, I'm still alive !
I had two intense weeks. The whole family was sick. Only care was announced. Then - on Friday - Jasper was fit again and the weather was beautiful. Get out into nature ! We drove to Nesslau , a small town at the foot of the Churfirsten - great for walking . As we sat down in a pose for the first pictures came the disillusionment. The battery of the camera was empty. What a frustration. After the initial disappointment , we still enjoyed our walk - but sorry , no photos . The Saturday started with rain and storm . Wind gusts with speeds of over 100 kilometers per hour - and so we had to stay at home again. On Sunday it snowed a little bit. Because we were all so boring , Jasper took us on Monday to work. We helped in the office. I accepted calls and controlled the orders. Here you see us on the big scale. Then we checked the big warehouse. Enough bath towels available ? Aprons okay? Over 200 gift packs are not yet done. The shelves are filled and the supply is piling up to the ceiling. Hours later: one last look, and then the work was done. I hope the boring days are over. Bye for now. Twixx |

Hi mommy,
Today we went for a walk. In the first snow. After many, many days with fog (Jasper can not remember such a misty autumn) it was glorious. Warmly dressed, we trudged off. The view was great. We enjoyed the sun and the fresh air made us cocky. We played in the snow and were soaking wet after a short time. Back at home, Jasper wrapped us in a warm towel and brought us a hot tea. What a beautiful day! Bye for now, love you Twixx |

Hi all ,
Today we visited the capital of Switzerland - Bern. The weather was not on our side but we did not care. Bern was first mentioned in documents in 1208. To date, the city has retained its old world charm. So we strolled through the streets, admiring the old buildings and arcades. Many beautiful fountains adorn the cityscape. This is the Käfigturm (Prison Tower). The House of Parliament. Today there were no guides - it was voting Sunday. This is the view from the terrace on the Federal Palace in a district on the river Aare. The National Bank. On the Federal Court, where I stands now, a large, traditional market will be held tomorrow - the Zibelemärit (onion market). All shops are closed, the students do not have school. A really big thing . Around 50 tons of onions , most braided into elaborate braids or wreaths are made available for sale. And at 16.00 clock, there is then a wild confetti battle. Too bad we can not take part. The old casino. A bear as an art object. The bear is an important part of the city. I do not know why but in the arms of the city a bear is shown and Jasper told us that on the banks of the Aare live bears. November mood. Another object of art. It stood in the middle of the street. A famous building in the city of Bern - the Zyytgloggeturm. ( Clock Tower ) We saw festively decorated shop windows, churches, the town hall and small and charming neighborhoods. Then we came to a small road whose paving stones were all marked with a name. Jasper told us why: A few years ago, when the bear pit was converted for animal welfare reasons, cost a lot of money. They came up with the idea to sell stones. Anyone who bought a stone or donated money for the reconstruction was immortalized by name. The road is long and the Bernese Bears have now a large park on the banks of the Aare. We had to look long before we discovered it. In the old bear pit you can learn about the lives of animals now. This is the Berner Munster. From the cathedral terrace you have a beautiful view of the old town and the Aare. This is the city theater. A chocolate manufactory. Unfortunately on Sunday the store was closed. On the way to the station we saw the Hotel Schweizerhof. Now it was time to think on the way home. We had 2 1/2 hour train ride ahead of us. Something wet we warmed in Jasper scarf. For a short time we looked out the window but then we overcame fatigue. I hope you like my trip to Bern. Hugs and kisses Twixx |

Hi mommy,
I should get up earlier. Look at these pictures. Jasper enjoyed this sight today early in the morning. Later clouds came but that did not bother anyone. We had something else to do - bake Christmas cookies. First, we opened the first door of our advent calendar. Then we helped Jasper to decorate the Christmas cards. Very important that they arrive on time. Some have a long way to go. And then we baked Christmas cookies with host brother. They taste wonderful. In the evening we lit the first candle on the Advent wreath. We all look forward to Christmas. I hope you had a nice day too. Love and miss you Twixx |

last night was the surprise big. We found our socks well filled. It looks as if Santa was satisfied with our behavior. In the dining room was still a great bag waiting for us. We carefully opened it and many delicious things came tumbling towards us. We had a very enjoyable, fun night out. Thank you Santa and bye bye. Twixx |

Hello to all at home,
Yesterday I was in Basel and visited the Christmas market. Early in the morning we took the train. We saw a beautiful frozen landscape. When we arrived in Basel it was so cold that we had to drink something warm. Therefore we visited Starbucks and drinking latte macchiato with caramel. Yummy. Then we went on. Near the Elisabeth Church and the theater we admired the Carnival Fountain by Tinguely - a well-known Swiss artist (1925-1991) Tinguely was a painter and sculptor of the New Realism and was known primarily for his mobile, machine-like sculptures. Then we had a first look at the Christmas market. We saw many beautiful things. This is the cathedral. On the cathedral square, we strengthened ourselves with a Swiss specialty - raclette - melted cheese (like Heidi got it from her grandfather, the Alpöhi.) It was sooo good. Then we admired the view from the Muenster Terrace. On has a wonderful view of the river Rhine. The City hall of Basel is also very nice. The red color and the paintings in the inner courtyard and on the facade make it special. Time for a coffee. This time cappuchino with a loving decoration. We enjoyed it. Slowly it became dark and the market showed up with its festive lighting. After a final strengthening - we were constantly hungry, it always smelled so good - we made our way home. It was a beautiful day. hugs and kisses Twixx P. S. The sausage was by the way 1/2 meter long. |

Hi mommy,
yesterday came a great package. We were all very curious about what is in it. Maybe Christmas gifts? When we opened it, we saw first a lot of colorful paper. Then a colorful beings came to the fore. It smiled at us and greeted friendly. I must admit, for a moment I forgot my good upbringing. The curiosity was stronger. So I climbed into the package to look for gifts without welcome the new arrival. And there were lots of presents. A little ashamed, but even more warmly, we welcomed our new friend Cherry Lola. She showed us her gifts and told us the special story of the angel. We were very impressed. Finally, remained a question - who is Paul? Our mysterious little lady told us that Paul was her former Hostdad. And in this paper his Sinterklaas gift was wrapped. I like Cherry Lola very much - but I love you! Until next time Twixx |

Hi mommy,
our calendar told us, today is Christmas Eve. Jasper has bought us a small tree that we decorated. The fairy lights gave us a bit of effort, but together we have made it. With the red balls and golden ribbons it looks beautiful. Pride of place was the little angel. In memory of Cherry Lola's mom Kate. And now we wait impatiently for what is to come. First we will eat delicious - with Jasper's dad and her brother - who come to visit. And then we hope to have many gifts. All my loved ones at home - I wish you a wonderful, peaceful Christmas. Big hugs and a thousand kisses Twixx |

Happy New year!
the last days of the old year were not so funny. Host dad had a few days to the hospital to re-adjust his diabetes. Even our trip to St. Moritz has been deleted. Here it was raining, but in the mountains was so much snow that the rail lines were closed due to avalanche danger. Pity but perhaps arises later an opportunity to go there. I would like to play in the snow, unfortunately, it is at the moment far too warm. Yesterday I was looking forward on dinner. Jaspers family eats traditional cheese fondue on New Years Eve. Yummy! We all helped with the preparation . We pressed garlic and added to cheese. And then we had to stir, stir, stir until the cheese was melted. In between, we have set the table . And then we enjoyed a creamy, seductive fragrant fondue and a glass of white wine. Unfortunately the rain prevented the fireworks. Nevertheless we had a lovely evening. All the best for the new year - love you Twixx |

Hi mommy,
Today we made a trip to Lucerne. Lucerne is a city in north-central Switzerland, in the German-speaking portion of that country. Lucerne is the capital of the Canton of Lucerne and the capital of the district of the same name. With a population of about 76,200 people, Lucerne is the most populous city in Central Switzerland, and a nexus of transportation, telecommunications, and government of this region. Due to its location on the shore of Lake Lucerne (der Vierwaldstättersee), within sight of Mount Pilatus and Rigi in the Swiss Alps, Lucerne has long been a destination for tourists. Early in the morning we boarded the train and two hours later we reached Lucerne. On the way we even saw a bit of snow - a rarity in this winter. Arriving in Lucerne we strengthened ourselves first with croissant and cappuccino and studied the map . Then we started our tour. The first thing we saw was the famous Kapellbrücke (Chapel Bridge) and Wasserturm (Water Tower). Bridge: constructed in the first half of the 14th century as a part of the city fortifications. Named after nearby St.Peters chapel. Watertower: this octagonal over 34 meters high(111.5 ft.) tower was built ca. 1300 as a part of the city wall. Used as archives, treasury, prison and torture chamber. Lucerne's trademark and the most photographed monument in Switzerland. Along the river Reuss we walked further and saw gulls and swans that were fighting over bread. Beautiful houses lined our way to Nadelwehr (Needle Dam). Built in 1859/1860 following the clever style developed by Poiree, the Needle Dam is a unique attraction in terms of both technology and history. From 2009-2011 the facility was renovated and the city's flood protaction was improved. Even today, the level of Lake Lucerne is regulated by hand through the removal and placement of the so-called needles (wooden posts). This is the Franziskanerkirche (Franciscan church) The next attraction was the Spreuerbrücke (Mill Bridge). The bridge was completed in 1408 as a part of the city fortification. Between 1626 and 1635 Kaspar Mellinger added 67 paintings that represent the "Dance of Death". Called the Spreuerbrücke because chaffs of weat were thrown in the river. Then we had to climb stairs - many many stairs took us to Museggmauer . Museggmauer (Musegg wall): part of the rampart walls built in 1386. Wall almost entirely intact. 8 towers still standing, three are open to the public - Schirmer, Zyt and Männli. The oldest city clock, built by Hans Luter in 1535 is on Zyt tower. This clock is privileged to chime every hour one minute before all the other clocks in the city. From here you have a wonderful view over the whole city and the lake in good weather. As you can see we did not have great weather, foggy and cold it was . Lots of stairs later we admired beautifully painted houses that border the old city scenic places . Goethe was here. On the opposite shore we saw the Jesuit Church . Then we treated ourselves to a lunch break . The next building, which we admired, was the Town Hall (from the back, we will see even from the front). It was built between 1602 and 1606 by Anton Isenmann in Italian Renaissance style with a Bern farmhouse roof for weather purposes. The open arcades facing the Reuss still serve today as a weekly marketplace. The Fritschi restaurant on the Sternenplatz, painted with carnival motifs. The Fritschi is a famous Lucerne carnival figure. And - Luzern + Fasnacht: a madhouse. Then we reached the lake. In good weather you can see from here the Alps with the local mountains Pilatus and Rigi. We strolled a bit along the bank and then went to the Hofkirche (Hofchurch). Main cathedral for the city population and religious centre St.Leodegar and Mauritius. Benedectine Monastery founded here in the 8th century. Fire destroyed church in 1633. Rebuilt 1645. Is the most important Renaissance church building in Switzerland. Next, we visited the Löwendenkmal (Lion Monument). "The dying Lion of Lucerne" is one of the world's most famous monuments. It was hewn out of natural rock in memory of the heroic death of the Swiss mercenaries at the Tuilleries in 1792. Globetrotter Mark Twain described the Lion of Lucern as " the saddest and most moving piece of rock in the world". Once again a short distance along the lake (it was still foggy and cold), passing this funny house, and we reached the Kapellbrücke again. We crossed the bridge and saw this time the town hall from the front. This is the Seebrücke (Seabridge). Under it, the Reuss flows into the Lake Lucerne. On passing Culture and Congress Centre, we reached the station. We said goodbye to Lucerne and were on our way home. Tired, but happy and enriched by many impressions we fell into bed. I hope you like my pictures from Lucerne. Kisses Twixx |

Hi ,
Sunday morning , and again we had to get up early. This time led us our trip to Ticino - the Italian-speaking part of Switzerland. To get to the Ticino, we took the train through the Gotthard tunnel. The railway tunnel is 15003 meters long and consists of a single , twin-track tube. Construction began in the fall of 1872. The puncture was made on 29 February 1880 and on 22 May 1882 the tunnel was inaugurated. On the north side was not much snow but when we left the tunnel , we saw amounts of snow. Crazy winter. Place names such as : Airolo, Quinto , Faido , Biasca and Osogna made us curious. And then we got out - in Bellinzona , the capital of the canton of Ticino. The city is famous for its three castles ( Castel Grande, Montebello, Sasso Corbaro ) that have been UNESCO World Heritage Sites since 2000. From the station square we made our way into the old town. We reached the Piazza Collegiata and admired the great church of San Collegiata. Passing beautiful homes and the Palazzo Civico (City Hall), we reached the stairs that led us to the Castel Grande. A wonderful view. The castle is located on a mighty rock ridge above the old town. We strolled through the huge castle and expected every moment knights and dragons. We climbed the Murata ( city walls), which also belongs to the Unesco World Heritage site. It seems as if one can traverse half Bellinzona on the Murata , as long it is. We took the Salita Castel Grande to return to the city. On our way we saw the Federal Criminal Court. A few alleys further we came to probably the oldest church in Bellinzona - San Biagio . The facade is decorated with an image of St. Christopher. The lunch we had earned. After this break we were on our way to the church of Santa Maria delle Grazie . It is one of the most valuable Churches in Ticino and emerged at the end of the 15th Century. This richly frescoed building was severely damaged in a fire on January 1, 1996 and had to be carefully restored. Unfortunately we could not visit the interior, the church was closed. Little surprised we went on and came to the Piazza Indipendenza ( Independence Square ) with the obelisk. From there we climbed hundreds of stairs - they carry the picturesque name Salita al Castello di Montebello - the second castle. Pretty exhausted and breathless we read the World Heritage Panel and then explored the castle. Our effort was rewarded with a splendid view. I could even see the Lago Maggiore. We explored the old well and marveled at the drawbridge. The third castle we saw only from afar. No more stairs. Tired but happy we were on our way home. You can imagine that we all slept well. That's it for today, see you soon. Love you Twixx |

Hi mommy,
Today, we sat together, listening Hannes vacation experiences and nibbled the last biscuits. Something was strange. We felt observed. Suddenly we heard a fluttering and a small bat landed in the biscuit pot. Stoker called the little Batman and is our new guest. We welcomed him warmly in Switzerland and shared our biscuits with him. He's so funny - I like him. Yours Twixx |

Hi mom,
been a few days since I reported the last time. Jasper was very busy - a presentation at a textile fair had to be prepared. But today was time. We wanted a walk in the snow - so we had to take the car first. Here is no snow - lousy winter. Jasper is frustrated. She loves winter. So we went to Alt St. Johann and walked a while along the Thur. The Thur is here still small and in the winter the cross country ski trail runs along the shore. We watched a bit of cross-country skiers - they were not very fast On an old stone wall we rested a bit . It was warm - 15 degrees. Then we had to decide - we take what way? Not so easy. We walked straight on and came to the valley station of the Iltiosbahn. This funicular takes you to 1339 meters above sea level. On our way we saw this sign. Did I tell you that Simon Ammann grew up in Alt St. Johann ? Oh, a campsite which is also used in winter. This glass tent is an apres ski bar. Unfortunately, she was not yet open. So we were on our way home. Tonight we look at ski jumping on television. Let's see who wins. That's it for today. Bye, bye Twixx |

Hi mommy,
once again bad weather. It's exasperating. Jasper made us "good mood muffins" and after a few bottles of Sour Apple, we had to laugh a lot. On weekend, we make another trip - the weather prospects are good. The destination is a secret. We only know the city name starts with "M". We all are soooo curious. Hugs Twixx |

Saluti a tutti di famiglia
you wonder why I speak Italian? Jasper promised us for this weekend a trip to a city that starts with "M". We started early and ended up in - Milano ( Milan ) From the station we walked to the Castello di Sforzaresco. The Castello is home to the largest museum complex in Milan with nine museums and art galleries. Michelangelo's last sculpture - the Pieta Rondanini, and Leonardo da Vinci's " Codex Trivulzianus " a collection of valuable manuscripts are exhibited here. Unfortunately photograph is strictly prohibited. So we went on and came to the Arco della Pace - a triumphal arch in Piazza Sempione. He should remember the European peace of 1815. A few streets away, we saw the "new Milan". On the old Fairgrounds - Fiera Milano City - built diligently. The new district will be called "CityLife Milano". On our way we saw this posh house entrance. It belongs to the "Casa di riposo by musici" a retirement home for musicians. It was founded by Giuseppe Verdi who lived here and is buried here. Directly in front of the house is his monument. The Piazza Piemonte and the Theatro Nazional. By typical Milanese streets we came to the convent of Santa Maria delle Grazie. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and on one of these walls - we do not know which - painted Leonardo da Vinci his famous painting "The Last Supper". And again, we were not lucky to photograph a famous work of art. We were not even near him. Because of the large number of visitors tickets are limited. And yes, you're right - they were sold out. No exception, not even for ToyVoyager. A bit grumpy we looked at the building from the outside and found in a small tranquil courtyard our good mood again. We went on and came to the Palazzo Litta, a magnificent palace which is now used by the railway administration. We passed a small memorial service for the victims in Ukraine, and held in for a moment. A magnificent monument - I do not remember for whom. A work of art. Then we reached the famous Opera House - the Scala. I had somehow imagined more glorious. This is the statue of Leonardo da Vinci in Piazza Scala. The entrance to the magnificent shopping mall "Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II". All well-known brands can be found in this cross-shaped passage. When we left the Galleria, an imposing sight showed us. The Cathedral of Milan. Huge (in terms of area, the third largest church in the world) and beautiful he is on the Piazza del Duomo. We were not the only ones who enjoyed this wonderful day here. Amo Milano e ti amo mamma. Ciao ea presto. I love Milan and I love you mama. Bye and see you soon. Twixx |

Hello,
Sunday and wonderful weather, nothing keeps us indoors. We went to Rapperswil, a small town on Lake Zurich. There we visited the first thing the castle. From the Schlossplatz you have a beautiful view over the old town and a part of the lake. The castle is very impressive and is home to the Polish Museum. In the tower we admired old family coat of arms. This is the parish church next to the castle. On a walk through the city and along the lake we enjoyed the sun, just like many others. We also found a clown statue. The town of Rapperswil is closely linked with the Swiss National Circus "Knie". The circus has its winter quarters here and leads the zoo. I spent an enjoyable afternoon and now I'm going to bed. Bye for now Twixx |

Hello home,
Today, we welcomed a new TV. His name is Nuru he is from Madrid and he is a camel. No, I do not scoff - he really is a camel, a very nice camel. He brought a beautiful card, fridge magnet for Jasper and his stamp collection. Imagine - he has a passport. We were very impressed. Then we played hide and seek between Jasper's herb pots. It was fun - and how we smell;-)) Keep your fingers crossed that the weather is nice tomorrow. Then we take a walk to our little river. Enjoy your end of work. Twixx |

Hi mommy,
the weather was wonderful and so we took a walk to a small river called Thur. On our way we saw really old apple trees and an apiary. We approached very carefully - nobody wanted to be stung. Some flowers were seen. Here is our romantic river Thur. ( Thur is a 131 km (81 mi ) long river in north- eastern Switzerland. Its source is near the mountain Santis , in the south -east of the canton of St. Gallen. It flows into the river Rhine on the border with Germany south of Schaffhausen.) We found a "TV waterfall " and frog spawn. Looks like some frogs. Oh, oh looks like many, many frogs. Time to enjoy the sun. Even more harbingers of spring. A perfect place to think. On our way we found many beautiful places. Then I climbed a rock - or a root ? I think both is correct. This tree holds on with its roots on the rock. The flood of recent years has swept the earth. A short rest on soft moss. Jasper shared her apple us. We found wild garlic in abundance. It's so beautiful here. Many, many greetings Twixx |

Hello mom,
Today we visited a special place - Quinten. The 56 inhabitants large village of Quinten on the north shore of Lake Walen is only accessible on foot or by boat. As a car-free village Quinten is a popular intermediate and end points for hikes. Quinten has due to its unique location on the sunny side of Lake Walen and at the foot of the Churfirsten a Mediterranean climate with an annual average temperature of about 12.0 ° C, where grapes, figs, kiwi fruit and other exotic plants thrive. Also, various types of palm trees grow here. It is one of the warmest places in Switzerland. In addition, many protected reptiles such as lizards, fence lizards, smooth snakes, grass snakes and Aesculapian live in this ideal habitat for the animals. We took the car to Murg and then by ship to Quinten. The view was breathtaking. We strolled through the small village and walked along the lake. We enjoyed the sun, nature and our lives. By boat we were on our way home. What a glorious day. Sunny greetings Twixx |

Hi to all at home,
because Jasper had a lot to do at work, host brother made a few things with us. 1 Project: make Spring rolls. Host Brother prepared the filling. He did not want any problems with Jasper when we cut ourselves in the paws, hooves or wings. Then he showed us how to shape the spring rolls. Not so easy but I think I have a certain talent for it. We were all proud of our work and were looking forward to the meal. And then the disaster - during frying the dough disappeared. Why? no idea. Only the filling remained. But this was delicious. We will try it again. Twixx |

Jasper Posted Apr 12, 2014, 8:38 pm |
Hello ,
our next project with host brother: make Mozzarella ! Yes, you read it correctly. We made cheese - mozzarella. Host Brother studied chemistry and loves to try everything possible. And we love to help him. (Jasper then always pray, that the kitchen does not explode) Back to our cheese. We gave milk in a pot and added some citric acid to it. The whole we heated to ??? I do not remember - but it had to be exact. Then we added Rennet. Let stand a bit - stir a bit. It looks disgusting. This nasty stuff is called cheese curd and is skimmed off. The liquid that remains is heated. Then you take something from the cheese curd and keep it short time in the hot liquid. You pull apart the warm cheese mixture and fold them back together. Over and over again, until it is completely smooth. Then shape round - and ready is the mozzarella. Of course we also formed small - TV style - cheese. And just as naturally, we tried our homemade cheese. Yummy, yummy! cheesy greetings Twixx |

Hi mommy
yesterday we took a hike along the Thur. We wanted to see what happened to the frog spawn and what else has changed since our last trip. So Jasper filled the backpack and we went into the sun. The grass is grown and the old apple trees are in bloom. Also, the forest is green slowly. Dandelion Small tadpoles were removed from the frog spawn. We walked on and came to the rock wall - the frost and the water they gnaw slowly. The bridge of the bypass road. Our path was narrow, steep and sometimes a bit dangerous. The large leaves on the riverbank invited to sunbathe. Then Jasper had enough to carry everything alone. Full gentleman I helped her. I carried the sausages. We crossed a small creek and sat down to picnic. Bread, cheese and sausage were delicious. As we walked Jasper suddenly saw something very special. A Tree - gnawed of beavers. The Beavers are here - great! Because it's still snowing in the mountains , the Thur does not have much water at the moment. This is Jasper's favorite place - the view from the bridge into the gorge. Looks very romantic. Another narrow, steep path led us - at a rock wall? No - into a tight dark passage - and then we saw the waterfall. Isn't this a beautiful sight? There we had to climb through. The waterfall. On the riverfront. These bundles in the trees - this is grass. Remains of the last flood. Isn't it beautiful here? We had a wonderful day Love you mommy Twixx |

Hi mommy,
after endless rain we had no desire to sit at home. Therefore, we took the train and went to Jasper's daughter in Thun. Thun is called the gateway to the Bernese Oberland. It is located where the River Aar eflows out of Lake Thun (Thunersee), 30 km south of Bern. Besides tourism, machine and precision instrument engineering, the largest garrison in the country, the food industry and publishing are of economic importance to Thun. This bridge is a weir. It regulates the water level of the river Aare, which flows through the city. "750 years municipal law" on this occasion are all over the city works of art - also in the river. Behind me you see the castle. Here you see the machinery of the weir. A View from the Bridge. A nice old house and stormy weather. Then we walked along the lake to the hotel. Jasper's son in law had provided us a nightcap. We slept very well. Until tomorrow Twixx |

Hello again,
after getting up our first look was the weather. Oh well. Incidentally, this is the hotel of Jasper's daughter and son in law. In good weather you have a fantastic view of Lake Thun and the Bernese Alps. After breakfast we took a walk by the lake. This ship is one of the many excursion steamer. We walked on, and came to this small chapel. It is very popular with wedding couples. You have to book in advance at least one year. This castle houses the Museum of Gastronomy. A view over the lake. Ferns in the park. Then it was time to go home. Bye for today - love you. Twixx |

Hello,
when we came home in the evening, an envelope lying on the table. Jasper opened it and we - not a bit curious - dipped immediately our noses. A moose. Stoker knows him - it's Soeren from Germany. We got a stormy welcome and greeted him warmly as well. Then he took out his gifts. Gummy bears for us and a postcard for Jasper ;-)) What a lovely surprise after a nice weekend (the gummy bears and Soeren - of course) best wishes Twixx |

Dear mommy,
Monday, sunshine and Jasper has to work. But not today! Sometimes overtime is very useful ;-)) Opened the big pocket, wrapped all TV's and camera - and off we went. Jasper wanted to show us the Thur Waterfalls ( Thurwasserfälle ). Small - but fine. The Thur waterfalls are two cascades. The water cascades down from steep rock faces, and on highest point drops from 23 meters (75 ft) A short drive by car and right into flowering meadows. Here the Thur is still very small. And it is getting smaller. We hiked into a small ravine. First, we wanted to see everything from above. This is the big fall. And closer to the water! About stairways and corridors in the rock we climbed up and down again. ( Sorry - it was too dark to photograph ) Bridges, walkways and narrow paths took us deeper into the canyon. This is the small fall. On the way back, I tested my skills as a mountaineer. Not like a capricorn but not bad. We rested on a bench, and rejoiced in the sun. The Santis is still deep in snow. We enjoyed this afternoon to the fullest. Twixx |

Hello at home
on Saturday we were a little surprised when Jasper took the boots out of the wardrobe. And the warm jacket. Okay, the last few days the weather was lousy and cold it was (5 degrees in the morning) But Jasper looked like winter. We started. Half an hour later, the clothing became clear. Snow. We found a few places where the Spring defied the winter. The summit of Santis could not be seen - too many clouds. But the cable car. We took a circular route in the Nature Discovery Park. Cold feet? We help you! Mountaineering - for professionals. We discovered an anthill. Partially destroyed by falling snow. But the ants are busy on the rebuild. At the end, we were wet and chilled to the bone but we had a lot of fun. Bye for now Twixx |

Hello,
on Sunday we made a trip to Wil, a small town nearby. We strolled in beautiful weather through the narrow streets and admired the beautiful old houses. This is the portal of the St. Nicholas Church. This is the "Hof zu Wil", the landmark of the city. For over 500 years, the St. Gallen prince abbots resided in "Hof zu Wil". By the old city gate we came to the "Weiherwiese". There was the "Spectacle", a medieval festival. First we smelled specialties - no time to eat, there was so much to see. Archers. Knights on horseback. The noble Lord of Lichtenfels was the winner. I was so proud ;-)) Then we watched how knights and "ordinary people" were living. A nice view of the old town of Wil. We could not decide : which sight is more beautiful. The lady who sells ocarinas - or? On the way home we had a magnificent view of the Churfirsten - our local mountains. Home surprised us Jasper with souvenirs she bought in secret. Small leather bag for our treasures. We had a wonderful weekend - I hope you also. with Love Twixx |

Hello mom,
yesterday was Soeren's birthday and we gave him a surprise party. I brought his gift - on a Vespa. When he woke up Cherry Lola blindfolded him. She grabbed him into shopping cart and drove him to us. He was placed in a chair and Stoker took off the blindfold. All hugged him and wished "HAPPY BIRTHDAY". He got the gift. Then there was cake. I had a special chair. We had so much fun. Later, Jasper donated something to drink. The fun was still larger, we slightly louder. Stoker was dancing on the table and I tipped off the chair. We had a great party. We all sang songs - terribly noisy and terribly wrong. What a day. Love you mom Twixx |

Hi Mom
guess where I am. On Lake Geneva in: We walked along the waterfront and discovered the statue of Freddy Mercury, the great singer of the rock band Queen. The group Queen worked for many years in Montreux and owned since 1979, the Montreux Mountain Recording Studio, which was housed in the newly established casino since 1975. The casino fire on December 4, 1971 inspired the group Deep Purple to her worldwide hit Smoke on the Water. "No matter what we get out of this, I know we will never forget. Smoke on the water, fire in the sky. " This tells the story of the casino fire of 1971, when during a concert by Frank Zappa the casino completely burned down. Here you can see one of the major hotels. Many famous people were guests here. Tchaikovsky, Tolstoi and Empress Elisabeth of Austria (Sissi) On the other side of the lake is France. A little rest. A war memorial. This is the monument of Sissi. Another hotel with a fountain in the park. We walked further along the lake and saw in the distance the Castle of Chillon. Chillon is listed as "Switzerland's most visited historic monument" and of course we had to visit it. An imposing building with many impressive rooms. From the tower we had a beautiful view. Then we walked back to Montreux, saw a church and statues of famous musicians. Last views of the Lake Geneva before we took the train back home. Love you Twixx |

Hi mommy,
Today we visited the Market Hall Altenrhein. It is built upon the idea and the concept of Friedensreich Hundertwasser. I like this kind of building. Nothing is straight but everything colorful. Golden onion domes and grass on the roof. Even the pedestrian strip is bent. So funny. Nearby we saw this creepy animal. Greetings from an impressed billy-goat Twixx |

Hi mom
Today I visited Murten. Murten (German) or Morat (French) is a municipality in the lake district of the canton of Fribourg. It is located on the southern shores of Lake Morat. We wandered around the old town and visited the old city wall (ring wall) from the 13th to the 17th century. A nice view over the roofs of the old town. Then we explored the shores of Lake Murten and the little harbor. View from the lake to the old town. We boarded a ship and sailed through the Broye canal to Neuchâtel, where we took the train home. I had a really nice day. See you Twixx |

Hi mommy,
today a package has arrived. Curious as always we opened it immediately and looked inside. A little shy pelican with a large, orange beak looked at us with big eyes. "Hi I'm Scoop" he whispered and gave us candy. I greeted him warmly and he slowly climbed out with the rest of his gifts. When I saw the postcard from Gouda, I had to laugh out loud. He brings cheese to Switzerland - hihihi We divided the sweets and talked a lot. We will have fun - lots of fun! Bye for now Twixx |

Hi mommy,
another farewell. Imagine Cherry Lola travels to Beijing. After China, it must be a long way. We threw her a farewell - gummy bears party. Wistful and funny moments alternated. Laughter when we bet who can balance the best gummy bears on the nose. Scoop won - no wonder, with this nose. Tears as we said goodbye. My little friend - I wish you a good trip. Maybe we'll meet again. Bye mommy - love you Twixx |

Hi mom
Today Jasper had to buy food. She hates it. Therefore, we first stormed through the shopping center and relaxed after taking a walk. This is the monastery "Mary of the Angels" By 2010, even 7 Capuchin Sisters lived in the monastery. They cared for the fire emergency for 3 communities. Since 2012, the "Facenda da Esperanca" is located in the former convent. This is a residential community for young people in difficult situation - usually addiction problems. To rest on a bench was not easy - you got a cold butt. We walked on and came to a mini golf course. Might be difficult to find the hole. See you Twixx |

Hello
Today we received a parcel. Jasper was at work and we were curious. Without hesitation Scoop pecked a hole. We carefully looked inside. Maybe a new guest? A small moose looked at us - no new guest but Jasper's long lost TV "Yuma". After a long odyssey he has found the way home. The joy was enormous. Twixx |

Hi Mommy
Yesterday we took an early train and visited Interlaken. Interlaken is a town and municipality in the Interlaken-Oberhasli administrative district in the Swiss canton of Bern. It is an important and well-known tourist destination in the Bernese Oberland region of the Swiss Alps, and the main transport gateway to the mountains and lakes of that region. The town is located on the Bödeli, between Lake Thun and Lake Brienz, and alongside the Aare river that flows between the two lakes. We had planned to visit the Jungfraujoch. But the nasty weather made us a line through the bill. So we decided to go to brunch at Hotel Victoria-Jungfrau. The Victoria-Jungfrau Grand Hotel & Spa is a five star hotel in Interlaken, which is part of the Leading Hotels of the World. A special feature of this listed building, is the unobstructed views of the Jungfrau massif. No chance to see the mountains in this weather. The entrepreneur Eduard Ruchti acquired in 1856, Pension Victoria, a former doctor's house. In 1864 he gave the architect Jakob Friedrich Studer and Horace Edouard Davinet the contract to build a new building wich was opened in 1865 after nine months of construction. 1895 Ruchti transformed his private company into a limited company. These acquired the neighboring Hotel Jungfrau in the same year. 1899 both buildings were connected by a central building, which is crowned by a dome; In this way, the Hotel Victoria-Jungfrau was born. What an impressive hotel. In the bar we were drinking coffee and tea. And then - let's have brunch. Jasper could not shoot as fast as I devoured the delicacies. After dessert, I fell over. I had a crumb too much. The chocolate fountain then made me completely crazy. I tried to jump into it. Jasper could stop me at the last moment. To cool down we even watched some skaters. The way home, I slept in Jasper's bag. And dreamed of chocolate. Sweet greetings Twixx |

Hello everybody
Today I visited St. Gallen. St. Gallen is the capital of the canton of St. Gallen in Switzerland. It evolved from the hermitage of Saint Gall, founded in the 7th century. Today, it is a large urban agglomeration (with around 160,000 inhabitants) and represents the center of eastern Switzerland. The main tourist attraction is the Abbey of Saint Gall, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Its renowned library contains books which date back to the 9th century. The founding of St. Gallen is attributed to the Irish monk Gallus (ca 550–620 or 640), who built a hermitage by the river Steinach in 612 AD. This is the Town Hall - located next to the train station. From there we walked to the "City Lounge" or as people call it - Red Square. Around the new building of Raiffeisen Bank, the outer region has been redesigned of two artists. The lounge is a kind of public living room. I thought for a long time on the pending eggs. Now I know - these are just lights. Through the old town with its beautiful half-timbered houses, we arrived at the Cathedral Square. The whole abbey precinct was included in the list of UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1983. The monastery courtyard, the Cathedral, The door to the Gallus chapel. One of over a hundred bay windows in the old town. The colorful roof of the church St.Laurenz. Here you can see the remains of the old monastery wall. On the way home we still passed the city park. Jasper bought us a pretzel with pumpkin seeds to strengthen. That's it for today. Kisses - Twixx |

Hello mommy
we needed sun. Therefore, we escaped the bad weather and traveled to the sunny part of Switzerland - Ticino. More specifically to .... Locarno is the capital of the Locarno district, located on the northern tip of Lake Maggiore. First, we took the old funicular to Orselina. There we visited Madonna del Sasso. The sanctuary of Madonna del Sasso in Orselina above the city is the principal sight and goal of pilgrimage in the city. The founding of the sanctuary goes back to a vision of the Virgin Mary that the Franciscan brother Bartolomeo d'Ivrea experienced in the night of 14/15 August 1480. The interior is highly decorated, and a platform gives a magnificent view of the city. With life-size figures here is the "Last Supper" imitated. Back in town, we stroll through the narrow streets of the old town - Città Vecchia. Chiesa S. Antonio Abate, one of many churches. Then we came to the Piazza Grande. The Locarno International Film Festival takes place every year in August in the city and, at night, on the Piazza Grande. Through a small park with palm trees and flowering plants we reached the shore of Lake Maggiore. What a view. We enjoyed enjoyed enjoyed. Then it was time to say goodbye. Ciao Locarno - maybe we'll come back. Yours Twixx |

Hello Mom
Yesterday we took a walk along our river Thur and looked at the waterfall. The waterfall itself is not very big and not very spectacular. But the way ... Looks like jungle. We followed narrow, very narrow paths (the path is good, but there is a risk of falling beside it). We squeezed through narrow gorges and crawled through under huge boulders. Then follows a long jump (via the effluent water) and there it was, the little waterfall. We were amazed that such a small waterfall can wash out such a large pool. Jasper told us, waterfall and Thur are unpredictable. Normally, everything looks very romantic. But two days heavy rain, and every path and every place you see here is several meters under water. We followed the river, running through fields of wild garlic, played with stones and sat on roots or in the warm sand. Several times we were happy to sit in Jaspers pocket. She had to overcome dangerous places and we were chattering in the bag with our teeth. But Toyvoyager are adventurers and we spent a exciting afternoon. Bye for now Twixx |

Hello mommy
early in the morning we took the train to Zurich airport. Croissant and cappuccino - to soothe the stomach and nerves. We were terribly excited. And then wait for boarding. Sorry if I'm so blurry - I could not stand still. Then finally it happened - get in, sit down and take off. The flight did not take very long. Another time we took the train. Our goal was King's Cross in London. We quickly brought our luggage to the hotel (a 5 minute walk) and then it started. First, we marveled at the station. Old walls and modern design are united here. And then we visited the passage to platform 9 3/4. Harry Potter sends his regards. to be continued Twixx |

Hello from London
we took the subway - called London Tube - and drove into the city. First stop: Piccadilly Circus. Ironically, here it rained briefly, but that didn't bother us. We marveled at the giant billboards, the traffic and the crowds. Piccadilly Circus is a road junction and public space in London's West End. In 1811 the Prince Regent, later King George IV wished a boulevard that should begin in St. James's and lead to the Regent's Park. He commissioned the best known architects of the time, John Nash, to fulfill this wish. After eight years of construction, the masterpiece in 1819 was completed. London's citizens was a commemorative street to Earl not enough. They decided to collect donations to erect a monument. Finally, 1893 the Shaftesbury Memorial Fountain was inaugurated, which is known as Eros Fountain today. However, the winged figure on the tip should not represent Eros, but the Angel of Christian Charity. The prudish citizens did not like the almost naked figure and jeered and mocked the builder. Today Piccadilly Circus connects Shaftesbury Avenue, the Haymarket, Coventry Street. (Towards Leicester Square), Regent Street and Lower Regent Street, Piccadilly and a small side street, the Glasshouse Street. After thoroughly looking around we ran on. Around the next corner we looked at the fountain "The Horses of Helios" In Greek mythology, Helios was the sun god. The task of Helios was to steer the sun chariot across the sky, which was drawn by four stallions. Impressive. We took Regent Street to Waterloo Place and passed the monument of King Edward VII. At Waterloo Square, stands the Duke of York Monument. The Duke of York Column was built between 1831-1834. It rises to a height of about forty meters. Prince Frederick Augustus, better known as the Duke of York, was the second son of King George III. As commander of the British army, he soon realized that the army was outdated and the Duke introduced significant reforms to modernize and improve the army. Shortly after his death in 1827, donated all British troops a day's pay for the construction of a monument in honor of the Duke of York. Continuing on our way we saw The Mall with Admiralty Arch. This road we'll visit later. Our goal was to Horse Guards Parade. Horse Guards Parade is a large parade ground near Whitehall. It is the site of the annual ceremonies of Trooping the Colour, which commemorates the monarch's official birthday. The course is open to the west, there adjoins the St. James's Park. The other three sides are bordered by buildings. The Old Admiralty Building and the citadel of the Admiralty is located on the north side, on the east side Horseguards, the former headquarters of the British army, now headquarters of the Household Division. To the south borders the treasury office (HM Treasury) and the rear part of 10 Downing Street, the official residence of the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom. Part of the wall of HM Treasury. We crossed the square and came to the courtyard of the Horse Guards. Coincidentally, just held an inspection. Poor guys. There were some red heads. But - the Queen's personal Life Guard must be in good shape. That's Horse Guard seen from the street. We used a narrow street close to reach St.James Park. A royal squirrel. Shaun the Sheep. Spread all over the city are differently designed sheep figures. They collect for seriously ill children. Enough for today. Kisses from London Twixx |

Hello mom
after a good night's sleep and breakfast, we started the next day. Today an extensive city tour is on the program. Hop off at Buckingham Palace. The first thing we saw was the Queen Victoria Memorial. The Victoria Memorial is a 26 m high, built in honor of Queen Victoria of Great Britain figures group. At the top stands the gilded goddess of victory. 1911 revealed and built of 2,300 tonnes of marble. The palace gate with the royal arms. And that's Buckingham Palace - the official residence of the British monarch in London. 775 rooms, more than 1,000 windows, 450 employees and approximately 50,000 persons participating annually in events on the palace grounds. Impressive numbers. (It's said that the Queen didn't like the palace - she calls him her London office) The Mall (0.93 km) is the avenue of the capital and the first stage of the sovereign on his journey either to the Houses of Parliament or to the Horse Guards parade ground. It extends from Buckingham Palace in the west to Admiralty Arch and Trafalgar Square at its eastern end. We walked along the Mall and discovered the monuments of "Queen Mum" and her husband, King Geoerge VI. We reached Trafalgar Square, the largest public square London's. In the middle of the square stands a monument to Admiral Nelson, built by the citizens of London - in gratitude for the victory of the English over the French and Spanish in the Battle of Trafalgar. The Nelson's Column with the Admiral at the top is as high as Nelson's flagship HMS Victory from the keel to the mast top (51 meters) and was built in 1842. At the foot of the column there are four lions bronze sculptures. Also on Trafalgar Square is the National Gallery. The Displayed governmental paintings collection includes around 2300 paintings from the 13th to the 19th century. That's St. Martin in the Fields. Hop on to St Paul's Cathedral. And then directly to the London Eye. The London Eye, also known as the Millennium Wheel, is at a height of 135 meters currently the tallest Ferris wheel in Europe. The London Eye has 32 air-conditioned almost entirely of glass shaped gondolas. It takes nearly 40 minutes for a rotation. A little pleading and begging and Jasper bought Tikets. What a great view over the city. This road is called Strand. The name originates from the old English language and means similar to the German shore or riverbank. Unbelievable but before the construction of the Thames Embankment the road ran right next to the River Thames. We take a break. See you later Twixx |

Hello everybody
after a few Crisscross rides (this will continue so) we ended up at the Houses of Parliament and Big Ben. The Palace of Westminster (often called Houses of Parliament) is a monumental, built in the Gothic Revival style building. The palace is located in the City of Westminster on Parliament Square, close to the government buildings at Whitehall. It was declared a World Heritage Site along with the Westminster Abbey and St. Margaret's Church by UNESCO. The most famous part of the palace is the clock tower with the bell Big Ben. (since 2012 officially named Elizabeth Tower) That's Parliament Square, and this the famous Westminster Abbey. (shooting in the church was not allowed - unfortunately) That's St.Margaret's Church. We said hello to Mr. Churchill and moved on to Hyde Park. We entered the park by Queen Elizabeth Gate, also known as the Queen Mother's Gate. It was opened by Queen Elizabeth II in 1993 to celebrate the 90th birthday of her mother, Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother. The centerpiece of the door shows a red lion and a white unicorn. Hyde Park is 1.4 square kilometers, along with Kensington Gardens 2.5 and thus larger than the Principality of Monaco. We strolled along the Serpentine Lake and came to the Princess Diana Memorial Fountain. Next stop was the Albert Memorial. The Albert Memorial consists of a nearly 60 meters high, carried by four pillars, canopy. Under this sits the four-meter-high statue of Albert. It is reminiscent of the husband of Queen Victoria. Directly opposite is the Royal Albert Hall of Arts and Sciences - the usable part of the memorial. In the Albert Hall several types of major events take place: from symphony concerts (for example, the Proms) about pop concerts to boxing matches. Last place on today's tour was Kensington Palace. Although this palace looks a bit like a factory, he has experienced a lot. Queen Victoria was born here. Princessin Diana lived here until her death - just as Princess Margaret, the sister of the Queen. And now it is the London home of William and Kate. We went to our London home and then to bed. It was a long, eventful day. Twixx |

Hello,
Thursday was our last day in London. Only a short day and still soo much to see. We had to limit ourselves to the essentials. Past modern buildings and ancient pubs we drove towards Tower. We crossed the famous Tower Bridge. The bascule bridge - built in neo-Gothic style - was opened in 1894. 1977 - to celebrate the silver jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II, the metal parts of the Tower Bridge were painted in the British national colors red, white and blue. This color scheme remained until today. After a walk over the bridge we headed to the Tower of London. Her Majesty's Royal Palace and Fortress the Tower of London (the official name) is a fortified complex of buildings along the Thames at the southeast end of the City of London. The ring castle with two fortification rings served the English and British kings, among others, as a residence, armory, workshop, warehouse, Zoo, garrison museum, mint, prison, archive and execution site. Originally, the tower was built in the 11th century as a fortress of William the Conqueror against potentially hostile citizens of the city of London. UNESCO declared the Tower in 1988, a World Heritage Site. We walked around the Tower, through the Tower. Upstairs and downstairs. This is "The Shard" completed, it will be Europe's tallest building. Behind these walls are the crown jewels. The crown jewels of the kings and queens blinded us. Gold and jewels - so big and so much, you can't imagine. Photographing was unfortunately "strictly forbidden". Jasper tried to explain everything to us, but we could barely keep anything. Too many impressions. Ooh - a story stayed with me: In Tower live six ravens. The legend says, if the ravens leave the Tower, the kingdom will perish. Thus the Ravens can not fly away, the wings are clipped, and a "spare Raven" is held. Haha, so cunning. This is one of the six. At the end of our London trip we took a boat trip on the Thames. Last impressions of a beautiful journey. That's it from London - next time again from Switzerland. Twixx |

Hello There,
we will take a trip, no matter what the weather report says. We make our way to Flims in canton Grisons. There lies on 997m above sea level, tucked away in the woods, one of the most beautiful mountain lakes of Switzerland - the Caumasee. The first view of the turquoise lake let us cheerfully start. Through wild meadows and unspoilt woods brought us our path to the viewing platform Conn. First impressions of the gorge. This is the platform. "Il Spir" (swifts) is called this platform for their birdlike appearance. It extends diagonally across the 400m deeper Anterior Rhine Gorge. Then it was time for a break. Apple pie and coffee gave us the strength for the way forward. Wild strawberries, mushrooms and escargots were our companions for a certain time. Then we reached again the Caumasee. The short rain shower caused a particular mood. This color - something truly special. We enjoyed the rest of the way. After five hours we arrived back to our starting point. A last look at this beautiful lake. Maybe I'll be back someday. Hugs and kisses Twixx |

Hi mom
we deserved an Oscar. An Oscar for whining. First it was too cold, then it was too wet and now it's too hot. But it's really too hot. For days, temperatures above 35 °. We can barely drag ourselves out to the balcony. Between all the vegetables - which like the weather - there are a few cool spots. Eating a cake and do nothing - that's the best. Bye for now Twixx |

Hi mommy
Today we took a hike to the Schwendi lakes. The Schwendi Lakes lie between Gamser- and Chäserrugg (two of the seven Churfirsten mountains) in a hollow in a sheltered flat moorland of national importance. When the Schwendi glacier about 14,000 years ago melted, he left the hollow in which the lakes were dammed. In the following millennia caused by siltation of the lake shore gradually the moors. A funicular took us to 1340 meters above sea level. Here we started our hike. We had a nice view of the opposite side of the valley. There we saw the Schafberg and the Säntis. After about an hour we reached the first lake. On an information board was everything worth knowing about the formation of mountains and moorland. On a boardwalk we went deeper into the bog. The lakeshore can only be reached through a single web. This of course was crowded. So we contented ourselves with this sight. We walked on and marveled at the many, various bog plants. Up here the plants bloom between May and September. Therefore, the meadows are now very colorful. We have also discovered such romantic places. Even lotus flowers grow here. And a lot more. This is the second Schwendisee. Because you reached its water surface only by a marshy reeds, it is much quieter here. On a bench, we rested and gathered strength for the descent. After all, it was necessary to overcome 300 meters in altitude. Last panorama before descending, Jasper knees tremble already. Here we go. Safe and happy back home greets you Twixx |

Hi mom
Today was hiking again. We climbed two of the highest mountains of the 7 Churfirsten. Chäserrugg (2262m) and Hinterrugg (2306m). Because it was so hot in the morning (26 °), we took the cog train for a large part of the way. Once at the first summit, we were able to recover us at 14° and fresh wind. Then we took the "Flower Trail," to explore the summit. The first part of the trail led along the northern summit ridge. We saw lush Alpine pastures, many well-known and even more flowers and herbs whose names we did not know. We admired rock formations, and far below us appeared out of the haze the Walensee. The Seez Valley On these meadows you can see ibexes on cooler days. Then we headed for the second summit. No pictures of the ascent: Jasper had enough to do to climb up the narrow rocky staircase. 60 m shaky knees and we could again out of the backpack and enjoyed a beautiful view of the Thur valley and the new mountain station on the Chäserrugg. This avalanche control holds back approximately 163,000 cubic meters of snow. At this abyss - and the view to the next summit ends our walk today. Safe in Jaspers backpack we were on our way home. Jasper climbed and we dreamed of meadows, flowers and ibexes. Kisses Twixx |

Hi mom,
the last weekend we spent at Lake Thun. Jasper helped her daughter and family move house. Actually, a trip was planned to the Jungfraujoch for Sunday. The weather was unfortunately too bad: snow at -2 °. So we spent Sunday in Thun and made a boat trip to Spiez. We had the choice: by bus or by boat to Thun. Of course, we chose the ship. It looked very gorgeous. Arriving in Thun, we walked along the river Aare. Over old bridges with magnificent flower arrangements and through underpasses with a special look, we arrived at the old town. Then our way led us over many, many stairs up to the castle. A few years ago it was still used as a prison. Today a Museeum, a photo gallery and a restaurant are housed there. Near the castle is the town church. Then we went back to the dock and boarded the ship to Spiez. The ride was enjoyable and we saw many nice places on the lake shore. In the distance we could see the mountains Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau. In Spiez arrived, we took a tour of the village. We saw the castle and a blimp. Spiez is nice, but nothing special - a typical holiday village. That was my weekend. Greetings and kisses Twixx |

Jasper's sad, but she wishes me all the best - and hopes that I can fulfill my last Life Mission. My greatest wish: to see you again. Twixx |
