Hello :),

today we went on a fair. It was really nice there. We had a lot of fun.

http://i263.photobucket.com/albums/ii123/oceania87/TV/1708/kirmes_11.jpg
This is the biggest traveling slide in Europe. It is 24meters high and 52meters long. It travels since 1907.

http://i263.photobucket.com/albums/ii123/oceania87/TV/1708/kirmes_28.jpg
A lottery on the fair. You can win cuddly toys (we tried, but we didn't win).

http://i263.photobucket.com/albums/ii123/oceania87/TV/1708/kirmes_29.jpg
A restaurant on the fair. People were eating there and it looked really delicious.

An other lottery with the big wheel in the background.

http://i263.photobucket.com/albums/ii123/oceania87/TV/1708/kirmes_36.jpg
The big wheel on the fair. It was so big. Wow :)!

A rollercoaster called "Wilde Maus" (wild mouse)

http://i263.photobucket.com/albums/ii123/oceania87/TV/1708/kirmes_46.jpg
Here small children can ride a horse...I felt so sad, when I saw the horses walking in a circle all the time.

Hope you like the photos.

BlackCat showed us a bus stop here today. We were waiting for the bus to come and we were taking some photos for this time. It was nice there. I like the advertisements at the sides. They are for a local museum. Maybe we will go there, but there are no photos allowed so I just can tell you then ;)!

Hello :)!

Today we went with BlackCat's boyfriend. She had to work, so he decided to take us with him to "Essen original". This is a festival with 7 stages around the whole city and a lot of different music.
BlackCat's boyfriend wants to become a member here himself, so he needs to practise making photos with ToyVoyagers. As you can see, he is not so good at the moment. But we will help him becoming better ;)!

Hope you like the photos,

Hello,

today we waited for BlackCats boyfriend and then we all went to the castle ruin in Essen Burgaltendorf. It is a really nice ruin.

Here are some facts about:
The ruin of the castle Altendorf is located south of the Ruhr in the district of Essen called Burgaltendorf. It is the biggest obtained living tower between the Rhine and the Weser. It was built in the second half of the 12. Century.

I hope you like the photos we have made. There are a lot :)!

Today we went into the Grugapark. The Grugapark is a botanical garden in Essen. I really loved the flowers and all the other things (the waterfall and the pelicans). I saw a banana tree, but he was empty :(! That was bad. I wanted to eat a banana...:(
I really would love to go there again - maybe soon - we will see.

Have a nice day,

PS. I were really close to furfill one of my lifemissions, but we had nothing to feed the ducks. So I just watched them.

Hello :)!

In the Grugapark there is a house. It is a Hundertwasserhouse. It was built for parents of ill children. When the ill children need to go to hospital the parents can sleep for free in this house. So that the children from far away don't have to be alone. A nice thing, isn't it?

I really like the colours of the house.

after visiting the Grugapark we went to the Margaretenhöhe. It is a district of Essen which was built for workers of the Krupp fabrics. We just saw 2 houses, because BlackCat was too tired and her boyfriend has his finishing time at his job then. He is working in the Margaretenhöhe, so we will go there again, maybe soon.

Hello Mum,

today we went into the city and saw a really nice church there. We made this group picture for you.
It is the church "St. Johann Baptist". It is in the middle of the city and right next to the "Essener Münster".
We will make better photos, if we will come there again.

Hello Mum,

on the way through Steele we saw the Laurentius church. Maybe we will go to this church again and make some better photos, but for now I just have one picture with me and the church.

When we walked on, we saw the statue of Carl Humann. Carl Humann found the Pergamon altar and he is a honorary citizen of Steele. You can read more about him here:

Have a nice day,

Hello Mummy,

It was a nice day outside and BlackCat met a friend of her, Kati. They went to a festival of lights. It was really nice. Everywhere were little lampions and cute little candles. At the end of the festival there was a firework and I have some photos of it for you. Hope you like them.

Have a nice day,

Hello Mum,

today we went to a little church. It is the church where BlackCat spent a lot of her time when she was younger. Her primary school was next to it and they went there every week on Wednesday. The doors were closed, so we just have 2 photos for you.

Hope you like it,

Hello,

today was the weather really bad, so we decided to watch a movie. Our choice was The Simpsons movie and it was really funny. I laughed a lot at the part where Homer is with the spider pig. I am still singing the song he sang.

Hello mum,

here are some photos of me :)! We walked through Huttrop after BlackCat was working. It was nice :)!

That's the look on the highway which is called "A 40" in Essen. It is a highway which is going through the Ruhr area. There is always a lot of traffic and at the rush hours there is always a traffic jam.

http://i263.photobucket.com/albums/ii123/oceania87/TV/2409/240908_28.jpg
That is me in front of the water tower in Huttrop. It was half rebuilt after the second world war and now there is the "Tafel" - a social activity, where people without money can get food really cheap.

So, that was all in Essen-Huttrop - we went to Steele after that and I will show you the photos of it in the next Update.

Hi Mummy,

we visited Venlo in the Netherlands today! I came here with  BlackCat and moved to my new host Katja. She told  me that I would meet Moley at her home. That really makes me happy.

We sat close to the river Meuse and wrote a postcard to a friend, another ToyVoyagers host.

Hi Mummy,
after two rainy days we took a walk through the muncipal park to an old district of Remscheid, Hasten. First I had a look at some nice old houses in the vicinity of my current home.

http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3068/2977366639_8bc9a1e6b3.jpg?v=0

Here you can see the observatory, located at the entrance of the muncipal park.

Hi Mummy,
today we took a walk in Wuppertal-Beyenburg. Wuppertal is one of the neighbour towns of Remscheid. Beyenburg is a very old district, located at the river Wupper. In former times they had many dye works and weaving mills in Wuppertal along the river Wupper.

http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3187/2998456503_60a1ab4ae4.jpg?v=0

First we wallked through the forrest.

http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3189/2999295146_d1a27cdbe3.jpg?v=0

Here you can see a papermill, also located at the river Wupper. They are producing wall papers here. Can you see the weir?

http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3051/2998457063_3b7ccf9d22.jpg?v=0

Later we saw this fly agaric in the forrest.

http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3239/2999295596_f2c3ed9edc.jpg?v=0

I also want to show you the "Schwebebahn" of Wuppertal. Schwebebahn is a suspended monorail, travelling about 12 metres above the surface of the river Wupper, about 8 metres above the streets. At one point the railway crosses a motorway.

Hi Mummy,
today we met a friend of Katja in Luettringhausen, one of the older districts of Remscheid. They have two churches in this district and many of the typical half-timbered houses and those covered with schist.

http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3066/3012135395_8c9125f457.jpg?v=0

http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3158/3012972326_07cf8182fd.jpg?v=0

A really tawdry house decoration.

http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3072/3012135843_5a12c911d5.jpg?v=0

Now you can see the whole district with its church towers. The third tower on the right side belongs to the town hall.

http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3001/3012135647_984c2fd0c6.jpg?v=0

We walked through the outskirts then. Here are horse ranches and farms.

http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3152/3012134923_2cc7c8d399.jpg?v=0

http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3201/3012973290_ccf15e1193.jpg?v=0

We went to a restaurant to have dinner. The restaurant is called "Lagerhaus" (store-house). Katja had something really delicious with salmon and pike perch, fried potatoes and broccoli. Of course we had a few beers.

Hi Mummy,

today we celebrated Theodore's birhday.

We had fruit in rum (Rumtopf) in the evening.

Rumtopf is a favourite delicay which is made in the summer months with fruits, rock candy and of course rum.  Our Rumtopf is containing strawberries, cherries, apricots, peaches, plums, ananas and kiwi.

It is tasted usually in late autumn.

We had a lot of fun with the Rumtopf.

Hi Mummy,
it's snowing again! We took a photo out of the roof-light, so I could see more of the vicinity.

http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3033/3080285397_05c689d442.jpg?v=0

Uuhh, it's cold, but I love snow although.

We were watching Katja when she had to shovel snow, in the background you can see the front door of the house where I'm living at the moment.

http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3055/3081124054_ffdfce91e2.jpg?v=0

Katja took us into town to the office. The next photos are made on our way to the town centre. We have to walk for about 10 minutes to get there.

http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3203/3080285741_5b23066302.jpg?v=0

http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3063/3080285877_b5e7fcc9ac.jpg?v=0

These large forceps are marking the entrance to the shopping street.

http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3206/3080286171_ae0b76d23e.jpg?v=0

And here is the town hall with snow covered trees in front of it.

http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3028/3081124890_f2aa609581.jpg?v=0

The christmas market is located in front of the town hall. Here you can see the large ice skating rink in the middle of the christmas market.

http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3253/3081125072_32a34001e1.jpg?v=0

We had to go to work then. In the afternoon we ate some delicious tangerines. They had a lot of pits inside. I was a little angry because I had to spit them out all the time. Katja explained to me that those pits would be very important because they are seeds for new tangerine trees.

http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3008/3080286635_7851072d7d.jpg?v=0

Seeds for more trees?

That sounds good. We decided to try to raise a tangerine tree from them.

When Katja finished work it was already dark outside. We took another walk to the christmas market. Katja showed me the beautifully illuminated town hall. In daylight you cannot see it of course.

http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3140/3080287057_5374f5b5a5.jpg?v=0

Tomorrow we are going to  plant a forrest of tangerine trees.

Hi Mummy,

Big Bird from Japan arrived today. I told him that I was going to plant hundreds of tangerine trees. He liked the idea because he wants to learn a lot while he is travelling. But he didn't want to believe that I'm going to plant hundreds of  trees. We'll see!

Katja prepared the working space in the kitchen with a newspaper to keep it from getting too dirty. She also fetched a flower pot filled with potting soil from the cellar.

http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3224/3083001998_a2ea85ca68.jpg?v=0

I counted my tangerine pits: Eleven pits. I'm afraid that's not enough for planting hundreds of trees.

Even worse, the flower pot's size was only suitable for a maximum of five pits.

http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3066/3082164655_e294acb362.jpg?v=0

I had to accept this. Big Bird helped me to cover the pits with soil. Then they had to be watered.

http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3196/3083002256_02500c2264.jpg?v=0

http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3193/3082164799_45437708f1.jpg?v=0

Yes, that was enough water.

http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3112/3083002394_0e9e7513cb.jpg?v=0

Katja told me that the tangerine seeds would need warmth and light to germinate. We put the flower pot onto the window sill in the living room. It will stay warm there because of the heating underneath the window.

http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3214/3083002486_0ee910c790.jpg?v=0

http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3083/3082165105_5e19e93039.jpg?v=0

Now I  have to be patient. Maybe the germs will be visible in a week or two.

Hi Mummy,

we baked christmas cookies today! We made nut macaroons.

You need
100 g ground hazelnuts
250 g flour
200 g butter
125 g sugar
about 60 hazelnuts

First we had to mix ground nuts and flour. Then we had to stirr the butter foamily and add sugar. Flour and nut mix had to be worded into butter and sugar.

From the dough we had to made small balls. Those were put onto a baking tray. As a last step we had to place a nut into the middle of every little dough ball.

The cookies had to bake for about 20 minutes.

Hi Mummy,
we decided to come home for a while. We are travelling now.

We had a great time here in Germany but I am a little bit homesick now.

Katja will keep an eye on the trees that I planted two weeks ago. She will update photos when the little trees will show the first leafes.

Bye

Titch has been released into the wild  :)  He was donating to a charity and asked to be left.
