Here we are in Avebury itself - we left so early to get here before Helly went to work!

We walked all the way around the circle, a walk of a mile. The stones are so big.

Many of them are still standing. Many were found below the ground and have been replaced. A village was built on top of the stones many years ago. Then a gentleman, Alexander Keiler (We think that's how you spell his name), built another village, Avebury Trusloe, just outside of Avebury. Moved all the residents into the new village and pulled down their houses in order to restore the circle to what you find today.
