Hi mum,
I accompanied host mum and dad to a special anniversary at Lake Steinhude in lower Saxony,
The Steinhuder Meer or Lake Steinhude is a lake in Lower Saxony, Germany located 30 kilometres northwest of Hanover. It is named after the nearby village of Steinhude. It has an area of about 30 square kilometres , making it the largest lake of northwestern Germany, but it is very shallow, with an average depth of only 1.35 metres and a maximum depth of less than 3 metres . It lies within a region known as the Hanoverian Moor Geest.

50 year sailing in the boat class Flying Dutchman. Many friends of the persons celebrating the jubilee, come to party and made short races round the island and fortress Wilhelmsstein with the Flying Dutchmans . While there were more guests than space on the sailing boats it was necessary to charter one of the typical touristboats of Lake Steinhude, the" Emigrants”.
the name "Emigrants" goes back to the early days of tourism on Steinhude: The sailboats drove from Schaumburg-Lippe Steinhude into the Prussian-Hanoverian "abroad" and "emigrated"
