Hello!
Today we will go and see the harbour of Hamburg! It is a really special day for Hamburg today in more than one way.
First the harbour celebrates its 821st birthday. This celebration is held every year in the beginning of May. Many ships are around then and we could see many of them!
First we saw some sailing ships.



On the next picture you can see the "Alter Elbtunnel". It is a tunnel under the river Elbe but today it is just used by tourists and a few other people as there is a new and much bigger one.

We continued our walk around and saw some more ships and some parts of the harbour.





This is perhaps the most popular ship in the harbour of Hamburg, It is called "Rickmer Rickmers" and you can visit it and have a close look. Most of the time it is in the harbour but once a year it took a short trip to prove its functionality!

This is the Swedish sailor church, there are ones from Finland, Norway and Denmark, too but we couldn't see them from where we were.

And more ships!








My host told me that we will also visit the harbour for the cruisers and we had to walk through a new part of Hamburg called "Hafencity". The have really strange houses there.

There was only one criuse ship there when we arrived.

Then we left the harbour and went to the Millerntorstadion. Today were the last games of the second German football league and the FC St. Pauli went up into the Bundesliga (the first league). Everybody was very happy and there was a great party at the stadium and at the Reeperbahn.







I have seen really much today and now I am very tired! I hope to see more of Hamburg soon!
