Hello again!
It is very cold here this winter and all the people in Hamburg are waiting for the Alster to freeze. They are hoping for 20 cm of ice on the surface because then there could be a fair called Alstereisvergnügen on the lake. The last one was in 1997 and everybody was really eager for a new one. But the ice wasn't strong enough for a real fair, they just allowed that people may go on the ice. So we were, too!
We started on foot and this was still near the house of my host.

We saw some people playing icehockey.

And then we arrived at the Alster and there were many people already there.


We had a great view to the inner city over the lake.

On the ice was also many snow.

In the background you can see the St. Michaelis church, the main church from Hamburg!

We walked around and enjoyed the ice and the snow.





Here you can see the bridge which seperates the inner Alster from the outer part, on which we were.

You were not allowed to go near the bridge and cross over to the inner Alster as the ice is not strong enough there.

We walked up the bridge and had a great view over the outer Alster in the twilight.

Last we went to have a look over the inner Alster to the inner city. It was very beautiful!

We were really cold afterward and went home to have some hot tea!
