going to start working on mine tomorrow already - but the possibilities are just awesome as i see, so nice :D

and @ Kaylie: don't say such things :) no one is stupid, and you'll surely still make it, just don't give up trying - it's always hard to start on something new, right? :)

Posted Nov 18, 2011, 9:31 pm
i made a ds case for a friend

Posted Nov 19, 2011, 8:25 am
@ rabbits: I think so... I think you can make almost everything... but I don't know if it's called Amigurumi then?!

@ Sookie: Looks good, is it knitted or crocheted?

Posted Nov 19, 2011, 9:09 am
Neither do I- but it's still cool that you can make it^^

Posted Nov 19, 2011, 10:48 am
Amigurumi only means little crochet dolls/plushies.

Posted Nov 20, 2011, 9:54 am
So cool

Posted Nov 20, 2011, 11:28 am
I didn't know that Amigurumi was also popular outside Japan.
;) ;) ;)

Posted Nov 20, 2011, 12:17 pm
Can you do it, hanachan?

Posted Nov 20, 2011, 12:40 pm
hanachan: I don't know much people here in Austria doing Amigurumi... but I've found it and liked it... so i kept doing it until yet :D
Can you do it?

Posted Nov 20, 2011, 2:28 pm
I'm not good at knitting.
But I used to make small Nuigurumi when I was younger. Usually Stuffed Toy means Nuigurumi for us.
Do you know the word "Nuigurumi"?

Amu = knit
Nuu = sew
gurumi comes from "kurumu" that means covering something.

I love your great works, Vreni. Cute Amigurumi!!! :D

Posted Nov 20, 2011, 3:56 pm
but mine are crocheted, it's not the same as knitting... is it called the same?

now I know what amigurumi really means, I never knew that :D

and no, I didn't know the word "Nuigurumi" until yet.

I'm really happy that people like my work <3 Thanks to all <3

Posted Nov 20, 2011, 6:40 pm
Get your Mum to show you Rabbits or you could look for an online tutor video.
I have taught crochet to ten year olds and some can do it and some just can't. The ones that can are the ones that just keep trying.

My advice it to get comfortable making chains first and then when you are ready to try a flat piece or a sphere just make it free form for now until you feel able to try a pattern.

(ha ha, this from the expert lol! NOT I think I have made three toys, and a few items of toy clothing. Mostly all I can do is wobbly phone socks :OD)

Posted Nov 20, 2011, 6:42 pm
OMGosh, I nearly forgot to say how much I loved all of the toys on this thread! Adorable and inspiring.

Posted Nov 21, 2011, 4:35 pm
Vreni said:
but mine are crocheted, it's not the same as knitting... is it called the same?

If we need to explain it exactly, saying like this :
crochet = kagi-bari ami (hook-needle)
knitting = bou-bari ami (stick-needle)

Posted Nov 21, 2011, 5:15 pm
so amigurumi can mean both crocheted covered, or knitted covered...
Generally is is understood widely to be the crocheted version but now we know we can call any knitted toys amigurumi too!

Posted Nov 21, 2011, 6:32 pm
Now I'm doing the cat named "Amineko", it looks so cute <3

Posted Nov 21, 2011, 7:13 pm
haha and toady I've printed my shirt :D

how do you like it? :D

Posted Nov 22, 2011, 2:39 pm
Amineko in orange...

Posted Nov 22, 2011, 3:58 pm
@Vreni, i found a pattern, i don't know if you own it already.. if not i want to give it to you. :)
here is a screenshot of it

Posted Nov 22, 2011, 4:13 pm

Posted Nov 22, 2011, 4:19 pm

Posted Nov 23, 2011, 5:44 pm
one per day ;) I'm doing the fourth at the moment :D

this is the third one, my little Tiger :D

Posted Nov 24, 2011, 11:05 am
I really want to be able to make those cats..... Im going to have to visit my grandma so she can teach me the ways of the needle ;)

You really are awesome!

Posted Nov 24, 2011, 3:46 pm
WOW- you should make a little skunk and it's mom next- I'm sure it will be awesome if you do make them!

Posted Nov 24, 2011, 8:40 pm
they look really nice :D

just wondering - do you have to switch colour for every time you want a different one, or do you use the pink/yellow/orange one as a base and just stitch over that afterwards? they can't be all different parts i think, just looking at the back of the tiger :)

Posted Nov 24, 2011, 9:00 pm
most work I had with tiger, 'cause I had to switch the color for every stripe -.-

the pink and orange ones do not have stripes...

Posted Nov 24, 2011, 9:07 pm

And I really like the tiny donkey! Can someone send the patterns to me (of the donkey or other "keyring"-patterns)? I can't do it on my own, but one person in my family is able to do it :)

Posted Nov 24, 2011, 10:00 pm
@Ma_17 i can give you the pattern of the donkey. just give me your emailadress :)

WOW that you can make all these amazing things!

Posted Nov 26, 2011, 12:19 pm
they look really cutest - now i've got a goal ;)

i have to try and learn how to do amigurumis well enough to make the cats, until christmas - because my niece would love them simply, and what present is better than a loved one? :)
(also last year she made me a spider out of wool herself.. she is only 9, so it means a lot :D )

Posted Nov 26, 2011, 12:43 pm
do you want the pattern of the cat? I've also thought about giving one to my little sister for christmas, she loves my work and cats :)

for little girls I do also have bags like this one:

it's not that big inside, but girls do love cats :D

the patterns are only in english...

Posted Nov 26, 2011, 2:53 pm

Posted Nov 26, 2011, 9:43 pm

Posted Nov 27, 2011, 1:23 pm
it's not easy to make, is it?

Posted Nov 27, 2011, 2:36 pm
the amineko cats or the catbag?

Posted Nov 27, 2011, 3:28 pm

Posted Nov 27, 2011, 4:55 pm
If you can do english patterns, they are easy...

Posted Nov 28, 2011, 4:27 pm
@vreni: how many amigurumis do you have and what are you doing with all of them?

Posted Nov 28, 2011, 6:12 pm

@ mmm105: Are most of your Amigurumi out of the book "Amigurumi Toybox"? I think I've seen them in there, but I can't find my book :( I wanted to do something out of the book yesterday :(
Maybe I've lent it to someone...

Posted Apr 1, 2012, 7:39 pm
@Vreni: Only some of them are from "Amigurumi World" book.
But the most of amigurumis I do nowadays from my own head. It's more fun in that way :)
In those pictures I added earlier, these are not from any book, they are from my head: horses, giraff, unicorn, panda, frog and heart. (the rest has made by following book's instruductions)

Posted Apr 2, 2012, 7:19 am
I also love to do them out of my head and i like to do the japanese patterns <3

Do you know them?

They are so much work and I don't have so much time, so it takes sooo long until it's done...

Oh all these look really great!
I would really like to be able to do that, but im neither good at crocheting nor good at Amigurumi :/
I'm not only "not good", I never did this before :D

Do you have any tips how I can learn this?
A boy-friendly tutorial would be really great ;)

Posted Jul 4, 2012, 8:31 am
it's not so difficult, I learnd it with the Cupcake pattern. It's a step by step tutorial. But it's in english, but really easy to understand:

sc = single crochet = feste masche
ch = chain = Luftmasche

you can google everything ;)
you can also ask me :)

Hello :)
I need help! I just started my firt amigurumi and its the first time im croching since 20
It worked out pretty good, but i dont know hoe to do this:

DC x 4 in the next CH then pop over to the other side of the same CH and work 4 DC in the other loop of the same CH

In the pattern it says
Ears (Make 4)
CH x 5, work in joined rounds not a spiral.
1. SC and HDC in first CH, DC x 2 in the next CH, DC x 4 in the next CH then pop over to the other side of the same CH and work 4 DC in the other loop of the same CH , DC x 2 in the next CH and HDC then SC in the last CH; (16)
join with a slip stitch then CH x 1
2. SC then INC; repeat 7 more times; (24)
join the finish off, leaving a long tail for sewing

The red part is the part im in trouble with. answer in german would be awesome!!!

Thank you :)

Posted Aug 3, 2012, 9:06 am
look, a chain (ch) does have two loops, just work 4 DCs in one loop an 4 in the other one.

My new one:

Posted Sep 19, 2012, 2:54 pm
Hello together,

Yippee, I finally learned crochet. Now I can make Amigurumi. :D
Here are my first attempts ....
It's really a lot of fun!

Until I can make such wonderful characters as you, I think it will take a while. There are sooooo beautiful animals.

I have just not found a nice template for a bear. Has anyone a hint where I can find templates on the net?

Greetings Zauberaeffle

Posted Sep 19, 2012, 3:44 pm
@zauberaeffle: Well done! Congratulations!

For a bear look her:

The link is from mmm105 and there a very good free pattern!

Posted Sep 21, 2012, 11:00 am

I finished my third Amigurumi. :p
It's a little pig standing on a shamrock.
I'm going to give it to my sister for the oral examination as a lucky charm.

We'll see what I'm doing next.
Beelicious sent me a great link. But with the English I still have some problems.
If I have become a little safer with the crochet, I dare approach the English crochet patterns.

Posted Sep 21, 2012, 4:03 pm
@zauberaeffle: Very cute pig! I hope it helps :D!

Hi all,

here is my new amigurumi. The dungaree of the little bunny made me despair.
I managed it is not easy to crochet two trouser legs. Somehow it all worked out well, and I think that it really was not following the instructions.
After all, it worked :p

Many greetings

Try it! It's not difficult! It makes soo fun :cyclops:!

but it's easy, everyone can do amigurumi, my boyfriend also did one :)

Posted Sep 29, 2012, 9:14 am
I already tried it, but no chance. My Mom explained it so often. I think I'm better in doing handicrafts with wood, hammer and nails :cyclops:

Hi Petzi!

It`s not so difficult as you mean.

You can begin with small amigurumis and you will se - when you have made the first one`s - you will be "infected".

When you will know more about you can send me a PM with your emailadress and I can help you.
